I just got tiktok and tbh it's hard to watch. The worst thing for me is that I've come across quite a few people who are like "it's hard to be smart, here's why" or "you should feel bad for people who are good at everything" and then they proceed to give five reasons you should pity them for being above you, but the reasons are just things that everyone experiences? Like thinking you aren't good enough or not wanting to disappoint people? And all they actually wanted to do was humble brag. It just has the same energy as when white men try to force themselves into being an oppressed minority. If you're good at everything, you're lucky! If you were gifted and talented, you're lucky! If you're naturally smart, you're lucky! I'm sorry, but the only thing I qualify for out of those things is maybe smart? But I still have imposter syndrome and I still focus too hard on my goals and I still get bored easily. It is a privilege to be viewed as smart by society and it is a privilege to pick things up quickly. Genuinely people need to take a look in the mirror sometimes. You are not oppressed by your privilege.

Idk I'm gonna keep applauding my parents for raising three kids with various medical problems and nerodivergencies (I hate to call my chronic pain and ADHD a disability because I know I have it so much easier than some people so I have trouble claiming the community and label, but I do have these things). We live in America, where it's extremely expensive to get therapy and medication for me, my sister, and my brother. I have ADHD, which meant my mom being told that I was essentially shit in elementary school. It meant therapy from age 10. It meant a 60$ adderall prescription every month. It meant repeated $200+ doctor appointments. It meant needing to figure out where I fit into the school system.
My sister has BPD, that meant years of her abusing my entire family. It meant therapy for my parents and my sister to figure out how to best raise her. It meant trying out different medication. It meant false diagnosis of anxiety and depression. It eventually meant my parent's divorce because despite the years of therapy, medication, and trying, they couldn't work through it together. And now that my sister is figuring it out and getting what she needs to live a happy life, my parents are still financially supporting her, and they are still divorced.
My brother and I both have joint conditions that lead to chronic pain. My brother also has breathing issues. For me, I mainly handled my diagnosis and medication but those doctor's visits still cost my parents money. It made our insurance go up. My brother took much longer. He had to go through 6 different types of treatment for his breathing problems and still has not found a solution. That is expensive.
My parents did what they needed to do to raise us, and it would have been wrong for them to abuse or neglect our issues, but they had to pay more and do more emotional labor than they would have if we were not neurodivergent and completely able bodied. There are difficulties in raising any children but it is a reality that our society makes it harder for parents of neurdivergent and disabled children, and even though it isn't my fault or my sister's fault or my brother's fault, my parents still deserve recognition, appreciation, and support for fighting through it.
I'm gonna say it

Today we're touring the lovely island of Avonlea, an Anne of Green Gables inspired island made by Hali! Avonlea is a beautiful island, set on a crisp fall morning. Take a stroll along the paths and visit the various islanders (including Anne herself)! There is so much to see on Avonlea, including various farms, lovely picnic and dining areas, art studios, and the stunning lake of shining waters! And don't forget to drop by green gables to feed the chickens!! 🐓😊

Finally finished with this little spot I'd been waffling with for weeks. A tiny forest library type area! A canopied nook to drink tea and read poetry. 🌿
