Jeff Briley is now Director of Fun

Jeff Briley has been an outdoor educator for decades, a SUP coach since the early days of the sport and a surfer for nearly 40 years. Since 2015, he has been a PaddleFit coach and runs a thriving small business in Oregon called Cascadia SUP & Surf. He is dedicated to exposing folks to the sport we all love and developing strong paddlers on the rivers around Portland as well as surfing on the Oregon Coast. Over the past few years he has been the primary provider of PaddleFit coaching certifications in the western United States and with his experience in developing exciting programs on the water and his energy to always work to improve and grow, we have decided to bring him on as a driving force to help PaddleFit continue to grow globally into the future. He loves connecting with folks and is constantly stoked about living this lifestyle. With his leadership role as PaddleFit’s new “Director of Fun” you may be hearing from him here and there as we move forward. He and PaddleFit are here to support you as you continue to grow as coaches. In addition to his years of coaching, he’s been a team rider for Neil Pryde, JP Australia, Werner Paddles and Imagine Paddle Surf.

Be Like a Tree

There is a wise saying that compares us humans to trees. "We are either growing or we are dead". Of course this is referring to our mental, spiritual and emotional growth. One of the biggest mistakes we can make is to think that we have arrived or have learned everything that we can. Another big mistake that we make is comparing ourselves to the growth that other people are making. If we go back to our tree analogy we can learn a lot.  A tree thrives where it is planted. It doesn't waste energy trying to move to a "better" location because obviously it can't move. It doesn't complain that it has bad or insufficient resources, it just deals and adapts to it's environment and makes the most of it. I am confident that if we looked around us that we would find almost everything that we need to be successful where we are right now. Once we realize this, then we are free to whole heartily pursue what we were created to do.
