Natsu to me is very smart like his brother zeref just in a different way because I fully believe Natsu could win a chess match he just wouldn’t know how he did it, like zeref critically can think and solve really intricate problems but Natsu? No he wouldn’t be able to. I think Natsu learns threw actions rather than actually thinking he’s street smart rather than book smart but Natsu isn’t dumb he’s just more in touch with actual situations in front of him rather than hypothetically which is why he seems dumb. I also think he forgets things that he doesn’t really need to remember because he forgot half of his core things he should’ve learned then re-learned them when he got his memories back. Also he just doesn’t have proper education. But a lot of people don’t realize that at like 5 years of your life you learn basic everything so for Natsu to forget that and then re learn it from a dragon probably put him back so much more than people realize
Tumblr media
I think he repeats things he GENUINELY believes so it may sound simple to some people but it’s probably how he remembers things that’s a hc I heavily implant on Natsu because Natsu forgetting what a library is but knowing what a library is like 8 years ago is crazy because I believe getting his memory back with zeref fucked up the way he remembers and thinks because now he does remember the core time he spent learning to grow normal and that being abruptly stopped and even then Natsu didn’t speak or write he refused I think Natsu just is struggling to think half the time

do you have any headcanons on the relationship between zeref and natsu? knowing that natsu does acknowledge him as his brother makes me wish we had seen more of them together.
They make me so emotional you don't even understand
Natsu and Zeref were really close as kids. Zeref was the perfect big brother
Natsu was always an emotional child, but Zeref was able to settle him down (even when their parents couldn't)
Zeref's favorite color is pink. It reminds him of his beloved brother
Natsu idolized Zeref and wanted to be just like his big brother
I'm talking full on followed Zeref around everywhere, mimicking his behaviors, and everything
`Zeref was the good kid and Natsu was a demon spawn
Natsu would always get so happy when Zeref visited him and Igneel. He didn't understand why his brother didn't live with them but he was content with the visits
Zeref was very scared to hurt Natsu so he always kept his distance but couldn't stay away for long
Now let's pretend Zeref survived and wanted to be good...
Natsu is the only person that can't be hurt by Zeref's curse (there's several theories on why this is a thing but no one knows for sure)
After spending some time around Natsu, Zeref has no idea why people consider him a hero. This man is a hazard to society and Zeref is stressed
Natsu is so proud of his big brother. Zeref expected him to be ashamed, but Natsu loudly announces that Zeref is his brother and brags about him all the time. He drags Zeref to events and defends his honor above all else
Unless he's talking to Zeref then Natsu tells him he's an asshole. But Natsu's allowed to
Zeref tells Natsu stories about their parents and Igneel. He actually made Natsu cry at one point because of these stories and freaked out
Natsu is always trying to fight Zeref and Zeref is so unfazed by it. Like imagine him having a conversation with someone then Natsu runs up, decks him, and Zeref just keeps talking like nothing happened. It drives Natsu nuts
Zeref is a pessimist while Natsu is an optimist. It causes a lot of very weird convos like Zeref walks up like "the world is on fire" and Natsu just grins and goes "hell yeah buddy put on some sunscreen!"

that really interesting post that's going around got me thinking and sort of made me realize that i never made a post about my feelings on the scene where Lucy rewrote the Book of E.N.D., so here goes:
i always thought the part where she's holding this book, realizing this is Natsu and just hugs it and bursts into tears was one of the best moments in the whole series. not even just one of the best nalu moments, one of the best moments overall.
because we saw time and time again how much senseless suffering Zeref or whatever people chose to glean from his existence caused. Lucy watched the Lullaby Flute try to kill all of her friends and the entire Magic Council, saw the Tower of Heaven--the R-System Zeref had conceptualized and which had been built in his name--fall. She bore witness to the pain Deliora caused one of her closest friends. She and all her friends almost died at the hands of a group of fanatics willing to do anything to see Zeref awaken. Her future self died in her own arms thanks to schemes which revolved around the Eclipse Gate, which she would later learn had helped to end her mother's life. On the brink of dying and losing everyone she loved at the hands of Tartaros, she was forced to break Aquarius's key.
And in the midst of a brutal and destructive war Zeref waged, she learned about the Book of E.N.D. Here it was, this final act of senselessness and--in a way--the cause of all of it nothing more than a damaged book in her hands. everything, every vile act justified using Zeref, all the horrible things he personally did or indirectly caused, all of the suffering...it all led right up to this moment. and more than evil, it was tragic: Natsu's boundless life and Natsu's inevitable death, apparently captured in ink and paper, inextricably intertwined with all the pain all of them had faced along the way.
what words were there even left to say? except the ones Lucy spoke:
"This book...how could this one book contain Natsu's life? He's more than that! Natsu's special...but he's still a person just like us! So how..."
and in rewriting the book, adding all their memories to his story, she saved him and proved once and for all what the adventure she shared with the family who chose her, what all the pain they'd been through together had taught her: that love can overcome death.

(Major spoilers for anyone who hasn’t read/watched Fairy Tail)
(Like seriously, major)
Something that always haunts me about Fairy Tail is that Natsu isn’t really the original Natsu
Like Zeref said he brought him back to life as an Etherious
But as far as I can tell creating an Etherious seems to involve writing, in detail, what makes up that Etherious in terms of personality, in order to determine what the magic involved actually creates
Which would mean, technically, Zeref never actually resurrected anyone, he just created an approximate facsimile of his dead brother
I mean, he had like previous versions of Natsu and everything (see: Larcade) which means Zeref tried to recreate Natsu multiple times and our Natsu was just the most accurate recreation, the one close enough to Zeref’s original brother for Zeref to accept
Our Natsu is still our Natsu and always has been, but he is not, in fact, the original Natsu who died. He’s a copy of a little boy who died four hundred years ago.
Except he grew up into his own person of course
Also I wonder if some part of Zeref recognized that and that’s why he was totally okay with Natsu killing him even though that meant Natsu would die too, despite literally everything Zeref had suffered and done to bring his brother back to life

and then we have this clip from tenrou when natsu and lucy teamed up against kain
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and then this one-second clip of natsu heating his own bangs to keep them up is just *chefs kiss* i always thought his hair was naturally spiky but now i can picture his morning routine of: waking up, taking a shower, drying his hair with his hands, then applying extra heat to keep his bangs up.

Just My Thoughts Pt. 16
Fairy Tail Manga Reread Version
Tumblr media
The beginning of the next arc for our beloved team. I’m going to start with the reactions of Fairy Tail members to the islanders of Galuna being cursed to become demons. Gray and Lucy are shown to be slightly hesitant which is expected and the obvious reaction however Natsu is my main focus.
He’s not really bothered by the demonic aspects of the islanders. He’s rather intrigued by the sideburns (which are indeed huge). However even the head of Galuna Island’s village is shocked by the lack of reaction from Natsu. This to me is kind of ironic since Natsu is also a demon, specifically the King of Demons, END, even though he doesn’t know it. It reminds me of the Dragon Cry movie when the dragon recognizes Natsu as END and Natsu didn’t care. He just wanted to protect his friends. Additionally, throughout the series, Natsu is told he’s a monster and even when it is revealed that he’s END, he simply doesn’t care.
To Natsu, being human or demon doesn’t matter, he doesn’t care for that. He’s more focused on who he is as a whole. “Natsu Dragneel of Fairy Tail” a line repetitively delivered by Natsu when fighting against enemies. I just feel like his lack of reaction shows that he doesn’t care for appearances and the specifications of what a person is, rather who they are deep inside and what is important to them. To Natsu, his friends, his guild, and his abilities to protect and defend them are what is most important.
On a side note, I really like how the guild members that are first introduced to the group of island demons are Lucy, Happy, Gray, and Natsu. I like this because when Natsu is having his showdown with Zeref, it is the remaining members that save him. Lucy rewrites the book of END despite the demonic consequences. Gray aids Lucy by lowering her body temperature to help her continue writing and also uses his devil slayer magic to remove the demonic imprint from Lucy. And lastly Happy. He may not have not much other than be emotional support but he’s also the one who found out about Natsu being END firsthand and didn’t care since he didn’t want to lose his best friend. I think this is just a nice little connection It could be intentional or not but the series does tend to give vague clues about upcoming events and plot which I’m all here for.
Until my next thought 🤭

Leo, at Donnie’s funeral: I need a moment with him.
Everyone else at the funeral: Of course. *leaves*
Leo, leaning over Donnie’s coffin: Okay, listen here you little shit. I know you’re not dead.
Donnie, sitting up in the coffin: Yeah, no shit.

Things in Rise that Echo 2003 TMNT
Hi Ame here back on my bullshit-- getting right into it. I can't remember where or who said it, but one of the creators of Rise mentioned that 03 was their favorite iteration, and it really shows sometimes. Spoilers for 03 and Rise below ;)
The first thing that comes to mind is Shredder. "But Ame, 03 Shredder was a little alien guy-" NO I'M TALKIN ABOUT THE ORIGINAL SHREDDER. In 03, Ch'rell took on the mask of a well-known boogeyman at the time; the Shredder, who was a demon that had lived 1,000 years ago. Oroku Saki was a man who defeated the demon alongside the rest of the Ninja Tribunal, and after he defeated it, became possessed by it after falling prey to its promise of power.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The most obvious I think are their markings. In 2003 they use 'chi' to give them mystic abilities. It's the act of becoming one with the world around you, but it also seems to work when you are connected to the people around you. Even the medallions over their chest mimic the Hamato symbol that glows on Rise's chest when activating their ninpo.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Their markings even mimic each other (except for Raph, whose Rise version doesn't have any markings, which is a travesty). Leo has slash-like marks, Donnie has geometric marks, and Mikey's got a lot of circles!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
NOW OKAY THIS ONE'S A BIT OF A STRETCH, BUT-- Leo has made portals with his sword before! Specifically, he held one open with it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's the little things <3
Like the ghost of dead Hamatos coming back to assist their rat sons in the final moments :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some more small things! Raph and Donny's brains being rifled through! (Which also happens to 2012 Mikey)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Raph's and Leo's shoulder! (Hard to get a good shot of Leo's, thanks 4kids) Ironically both happening at a moment where Leo has "failed" to protect his family.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rise Mikey being the "greatest mystic warrior" reminds me a lot of what is alluded to many times with 2003 Mikey; he's very good at what he does! He's a Battle Nexus Champion! He's the one who can channel chi the best! He could surpass Leo even in skill if he actually applied himself, but he doesn't. Because he just doesn't find it fun. But it's shown a little in the episode Same as it Never Was, where he's able to dispatch a whole group of guys with guns all on his own, including three armored cars and a HELICOPTER.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also making comparisons between 03 SAINW!Mike and Rise F!Leo losing their arms is kinda a stretch but I'll point it out anyway.
And speaking of the movie. My absolute FAVORITE thing to compare is the Krang of Rise to Sh'Okanabo of 2003's Fast Forward season. It's like they took all the concepts of Sh'Okanabo and made it BETTER. Everything was executed SO MUCH BETTER.
Gooey tentacle villain? Check
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Weirdly organic flesh ship? Check
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alien invaders turning people into drone versions of their species? Check
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Also side note about that one, I think it's hilarious that in 03 Raph's the only one who DOESN'T get Kanaboe'd but in Rise Raph is the only one who DOES get Krang'ed.)
Taking over structures with their goop? Check
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And finally. Small boy son that is a descendant of Casey Jones. Check :)

I literally cannot shut up about how much the Rise art/animation style improves as it goes on.
(episode one vs finale)
from the mundane
Tumblr media Tumblr media
to the fighting
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it gets so much better!! the shading, the fluidity with which the camera pans, the smoothness of the turtles’ movements themselves. the stiffness leaves their figures, the fight scenes smooth out and become easier to follow. I love love LOVE watching the animators improve as time goes on :)

Also recommend Dragged Under. Got two solid albums under their name. And if you like the sound of Turnstile, Drug Church are always a good time.
two bands i always recommend for people who don’t like heavy music:
polyphia: what if a progressive metal song was as catchy as a pop song. with flamenco, jazz and classical elements combined. you will be singing riffs with no tangible lyrics.
turnstile: hardcore music with lots of different influences. you want a hardcore song with a latin drum beat. they got it. want some kind of dreamy shoegaze-esque song in the middle of a hardcore album. they do that too.
