Duchové a démoni Velikonočního ostrova. Původem někdejší živí lidé (tedy předkové), po smrti nebezpeční neživí, z nichž se některým dostalo božského statusu. Ono jde totiž o slovo obecné, označující nadpřirozenou bytost. Ducha. Duši. Oddělení od ostatní polynéské civilizace a pozdější kulturní střet pak vedl až k tomu, že někteří ostrované, zmatení katolickými misionáři, stanuli před závažným teologickým problémem: představují ti uctívaní předkové (Atua) Boha či ďábla?

They took it straight, Iuppiter, originally the name of the unknown Latin god of the heavens (whose origin was also signed by the Etruscan deity Titus) was identified with Zeus, his wife became Juno instead of Hera, who was promoted from the position of the female counterpart of the genius to the protector of the empire, the goddess of love Venus was found in Aphrodite. The Romans were fond of claiming to be descendants of the refugees from Troy, so no wonder...

It took so many years for those damn space industry companies to get around to building a decent spacecraft, and for tickets to the Moon to get so cheap that a sane and normal person can buy one. For such an incredibly long time, Mr. Mushinka has not been allowed to inspect his own property. He looked forward to the moment so much that he spent the two nights before his flight in the spaceport waiting room, living on overpriced coffee and biscuits over the expiration date. The authorized copy of an old deed guaranteeing its owner's claim to an acre in the Mare Crisium area had been in his hand the whole time.

Pachet

Další ze lvích dam starého Egypta. Podobně jako Sachmet a Bastet, i ona je spojována s Hathor. Příslušnost ke Slunci a jeho kultu byla ovšem jen jednou z několika funkcí, jež Pachet zastávala. Byla známá jako Noční lovkyně bystrého zraku a ostrých drápů. Taky jí říkali Bohyně ústí vádí, případně Ta, která přivádí bouřkové deště; to navádí spojit ji se životadárnou vodou, přicházející nečekaně a v poněkud nečekaném množství.

Gruagah

Kouzelné bytosti, zvláště ty, které se zabývají pomocí v domácnosti a hospodářství, jen tak nezahlédnete, to je známá věc. Přítomnost hebridského Gruagaha sice pouhým zrakem zaznamenat můžete, k soudu bych se s tím ale neodvážil, bývá totiž k vidění jen jeho stín na zdi. Vlastně její. Gruagah (byť je ku spatření jen ona temná silueta) je nejčastěji popisována jako dobře oblečená žena.

Žabí léto

Kvákaly. Ještě nedávno považovala Žabinka ten zvuk za celkem příjemnou připomínku vzdáleného domova. Za ujištění o tom, že svět je i přes všechno stále ono dobře známé místo. Navzdory mínění většiny ostatních považovala žáby za dobré společníky. Uměly tiše naslouchat a v pravý čas se ztratit. Nevyžadovaly pozornost. Nejen pro tohle je měla květinová víla, přelétající v bezpečné výši nad křovím a v bezpečné vzdálenosti od kolmých pískovcových stěn tohoto skalnatého kraje, ráda. Ale když tady jich bylo tolik najednou...
