not “oh my god it’s just a tv show” as in you are not allowed to find genuine joy and form a true connection to fiction, but “oh my god it’s just a tv show” as in, if it legitimately stresses you out and impacts your mood when things don’t happen exactly the way you want them to, and it causes you to lash out at other - real - people, maybe you need to take a massive step back.

#this is exactly why I stopped watching Breaking Bad while it was airing #it was legitimately making me upset in my mind and body #I let it rest for years and got a few spoilers and eventually went back and watched the whole thing #and it’s one of my favorite pieces of media it’s so good and genuinely deserves the hype #if it’s stressing you out it’s okay!!! you can stop!!! #you can even come back to it later if you want! when you are in a better place or feel more comfortable #you don’t have to just saying the door isn’t closed forever but don’t let anything fictional cause you real world distress or anguish #At least not more than intended ie: yeah you can have real emotions about characters and media #storytelling is a hell of a drug #but be kind to your mind and body and what it consumes a la media 💕
