Nintendo’s hybrid console has reached another milestone no we do not mean the 2 million sells in the USA or 2 million units per month. We are talking about the “Nintendo Switch Wins Product of the Year and Console of the Year” headlines and it was the top selling console of many months. NPD hasn’t released numbers, but they did say the Switch sold very well this month. In a post, Business Wire wrote about these big sales.

The Nintendo Switch was the product that had the Trusted Reviews team most excited this year. As well as winning the coveted Product of the Year Award, it also picked up Console of the Year, thanks to its forward-thinking design, versatility, and exceptional list of exclusive games. The Switch has been sitting on the 1st spot for five months since it launched seven months ago, and the Switch is the best selling current gen console. The Switch has already sold over 7 million units in the US only. That is impressive. The Switch hasn’t even gon through 1 holiday season. After the holiday season, Nintendo Switch will probably sell a lot more. The PS 4 sold 4.2 million units at the end of 2013, and it launched on November 15th, 2013. Nintendo’s holiday line up is going to be very good. Super Mario Odysee and Fire Emblem Warriors will be released in October, Doom and Skyrim coming in November, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 coming on December 1st are coming to the Switch. Nintendo will have many good games in this Holiday season. Nintendo had many games in the top 20 most sold games of September. Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is at the 7th spot, Metroid: Samus Returns is at the 8th place, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is at the 1oth spot, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is at spot 11. Nintendo’s software sells weren’t as impressive as its hardware sells this month.

When it comes to releasing new lines of products especially in gaming computer hardware with high competition of hardware makers like AMD, Intel and NVIDA, for every company the next move depends on the way the competitors act. After romures about AMD expediting the 12nm AMD Radeon RX VEGA graphics of the 2nd generation from 2019 to 2018, now we are hearing some mords about Nvidia’s new line called Ampere to replace Pascal. It is not exactly clear though coase the old plan was going to put the Volta on gaming graphics market after Pascal but now new rumors suggest a very different story. Nvidia has reached the end of the Pascal life, which means it is time to look towards the future and it was spouse to be Volta. We have seen that Volta is on the way, in-fact, the V100 chip has already been used in Tesla card, but what’s next on Nvidia’s roadmap is empty. According to reports this week, Nvidia’s next architecture is set to be called “Ampere” and may be revealed officially in 2018. Heise.de reports, information on Nvidia’s next-generation architecture should be at the GPU Technology Conference next year, under the name ‘Ampere’. The suggested title makes kind of sense with Nvidia historically naming their GPU generations after prominent scientists, and following pascal, Alessandro Volta with Andre-Marie Ampere works given their electrical heritage.

Nvidia typically has released 5 years roadmaps for its GPUs. It makes sense if they are trying to extend the road map but jumping over to Ampere from the Volta that Nvidia recently called it the most power full GUP architecture is a little outside the box here. Unfortunately, nothing else has been released. There is the slight possibility Nvidia have decided their Volta GPU design is too heavily weighted towards AI as all ads and promotions and videos they have released recently about volta is focused on AI, they may want to make a decent consumer graphics card, but that seems incredibly unlikely. If the Nvidia Ampere name is for real then it’s more likely this is the next next-gen GPU of our green team dreams.

The Moto Gamepad Mod got the honored in ces 2018. CES 2018 Innovation Awards is annual competition honoring outstanding design and engineering in consumer technology products. The Moto Gamepad from Motorola is a magnetic controller that attaches to any Moto Z device and adds an impressive array of buttons and joysticks for use in just about any game in your mobile. The Gamepad Mod doesn’t use Bluetooth for communication and acts as a hub for supported games. Its designed very smart and unique. The list of games in the Explorer app is pretty expansive; after all, Android has long supported controllers for gaming. You can play anything from side scrollers like Sonic and Rayman, to full-blown RPGs like Final Fantasy. The Gamepad Mod has all a controller needs to have; there are two clickable joysticks, four shoulder buttons, a D-pad, A, B, X, and Y buttons, Start and Select, and a Home button. It has a modifier buttons that feels tacky against the Gamepad’s plastic construction. Most games offer the same functionality between the D-pad and left joystick, so you should be able to use it in most games. Despite a few shortcomings and the complains about the moto gamepad, the Gamepad Mod is still one of the best controllers for a phone that is out there. Its ease of connectivity and built-in battery are huge selling points for motorola, and at $80 it’s a much easier purchase than some of the other Moto Mods (looking at you, $200 360 Camera Mod).

Machine Intelligence & Deep Learning Neural Network Training is basically the main goal of the AMD Instinct project. it has not yet release an actual project but it is targeting the Training techniques used today on neural networks in machine intelligence and deep learning. Applications in data centers have become very complex and require the handling of massive amounts of data when training those networks to recognize patterns within that data. This area is also becoming an interest for Nvidia recently and they have been working with the new 12nm Volta platform for huge data loads and AI tech needs. This kind of data processing requires lots of floating point computation spread across many cores like EPYC has, and traditional CPUs can’t handle this type of computation as efficient and as fast as the current multi stream GPUs handle it. What can take CPUs weeks to compute, can be handled in days with the use of GPUs. The Radeon Instinct MI25, is now combined with AMD’s new Epyc server processors and AMD ROCm open software platform, deliver performance needed for machine intelligence and deep learning applications.

Radeon Instinct performance running with 4,096 stream processors; along with its High Bandwidth Cache (HBC) and controller and 16GB of high-bandwidth HBM2 memory, The MI25 accelerator, based on AMD’s Next-Gen “Vega” architecture with the what AMD Calls it “the world’s most advanced memory architecture”, is optimized for handling large sets of data.
