I’m not sure if you know but Blades is back. In fact, book two is wrapping up next week.

tbf i was posting extensively on this account when i had loads of time to waste but getting into my #employed era has left me with very limited free time which i use to watch any sort of garbage that is considered a movie (if anyone uses letterboxd i'm HERE!) and once a week i'll open my silly little app and watch these silly little characters do their silly little things.

for the record, aerin and valax have me GAGGED. in me thinking my elf mc and tyril were elf endgame or wtv i was completely sidetracked with the romance plots between mc/aerin and mc/valax. like hello!!!!! what do you mean i get to enjoy the enemies to lovers trope twice in the same book!!!!! is this reality!!!!!!!!

i haven't had much time to get into the other books but i diligently play and replay cop 2 which ate! i also enjoyed kindred and am guiltily looking forward to the cursed heart 2. everything is just diamond giving garbage <3

finally caught up with crimes, so i thought to write down my thoughts for book one. i only played through it once so i may need a second play to really catch everything and appreciate all the finer details. anyway, here are my initial thoughts on finishing the book:

crimes has a wonderfully crafted and well-thought out plot. i can see why this book took so long to make, what with all the additional CGs too. overall i just really enjoyed playing this book.

while i enjoyed crimes a lot and think its plot is definitely on the better side of choices, i'm not a big fan of it being a solo LI book. i think trystan is an interesting character, but the snarky rich LI is just not my personal preference. i suspect that luke and ruby were originally intended to be LIs alongside trystan, making a sort of foreign affairs/perfect match book 1-like situation where there's one customizable LI and two set ones, but the circumstances surrounding its release and the performance of other books made it so crimes became a solo LI book. don't take my word for it - this is just my suspicion. though if given the chance i definitely would've romanced ruby.

i liked them assigning orpheus and eurydice for mc and trystan respectively when they had to go undercover. i didn't see this metaphor come out much in the first book, but now that i've caught up with book 2 i can see how it applies.

the villains were the most compelling part for me, particularly eleanor and tony. i love anything that touches on religious fervor and zealotry and the way it was handled in crimes alongside some commentary on how rich people co-opt history and aesthetics for their own inane shit really made me happy. with the MC being a PI and ex-cop, there's still much left to critique especially their punitive ways of dealing with things, but i'm glad that a lot of the book was spent talking shit about rich people, their inner machinations, and how they politick. i love you luke watanabe your contrarian anti-authoritarian rich people-hating hacktivist ass is so real to me.

#no jam ur so real for this #i genuinely think crimes is one of the only well-crafted stories on this app #the decisions that mc and trystan make are directly influenced by their past and it shapes their future just as much as it haunts them #& i like how it's not just ''let's break down the tragic backstory'' it's ''oh here's the backstory unfurling with some fresh mystery to it' #and i hope when crimes 3 drops with mc's dad's death mystery unfurled it's just as harrowing and exciting as crimes 1 & 2 #you best believe i will spend every last diamond i have hoarded for every single crimes book they put out! #crimes of passion

i don't know about mc but if i was turned into a vampire and woke up for the first time after days, i'd at least notice that something was different about me?? like how are you telling me mc woke up to their human mother next to them and their human friend coming to visit them and not for a moment do they think "hm wait why do they smell delicious" ????? how does mc not experience any vampire powers until one of the creations comes to attack the three of them?? maybe i've missed something or maybe this is just goofy asf writing but this whole thing is beyond me 🚶‍♀️
