of course i'm excited for Pomme and q!Baghera's reunion but I'm also desperately dreading it, because they have the same heart.

They're both so loyal to a fault. So protective and always putting their loved ones above their own feelings. They have so much love to give and yet fully trust so few.

How will they feel, when they finally see each other again? Will they be haunted by the same thought : "I failed her"?

Because they both left without saying goodbye, because they couldn't keep the other safe, because they came so close to each other again yet couldn't remain together no matter how hard they tried?

How does Pomme feel, coming so close to her mother after an eternity spent apart, guilty because she had to leave without warning, only to wake up and learn that she is gone and that no one found her, having sacrificed herself to try to protect her, Pomme who sees herself as a target and protector first and a kid second? And that when she does see her mother again, she is but a shell of the person she once was?

How will Baghera feel, when she promised herself she would not mourn for her child during her disappearance, when she searched for so long and went through the hardest battles to get her back, and yet she gave up on that hope after so long, after having been broken down too many times, believing she utterly failed... only to finally have to face her daughter again in the eyes, alive?

How do you bear the shame of feeling like you have left some of the closest real family you have down, when so much of both of your lives revolve around protecting the ones you love? Where they both promised themselves they would not abandon the other, only to end up feeling like they did?

How do you comfort one another, when the same thoughts haunt you both?

Baghera talked about QSMP on stream today, namely Purgatory, and she said that one of her favorite things that came from it was hanging out with Philza. She loved their conversations and interactions, especially when it was only the two of them, and she said that she found the kind of parent-child dynamic they had really fun. Philza completely went along with it too so she went all in, and she found it really funny!

Aaaaaaaaa Baghera calling it weakness, to target those who can't defend themselves because he can't hurt the ones doing the real harm. I think it says a lot about her, to look at someone becoming a serial killer and calling him weak. Especially since she is also one of the people who is firmly against the Federation, who has been put through awful things at their hands. She's looking at someone who's also suffered at their hands and firmly saying "this is not right." I just find it so fascinating how unbreakable her moral code is, even if her will isn't. I think back to her unwavering stance during the elections, her insistence that ElQ will return Dapper, even way back as a child, talking about how they were being unfair, how they just wanted to hurt her. Baghera is far from unshakable. We've seen that. But she stands by what's right so firmly.

Because she's at a major low right now, it really stands out to me that she's still very firm on these things. I think she values that a lot - that to her is strength. She's been helpless a lot throughout her life, especially as a child. This is something she has control over. I think it's really interesting how a lot of people, under intense stress, revert to a place they feel in control again, and for Baghera that seems to be in her morality. Perhaps it's because of it being lacking in the adults around her growing up. Perhaps it's because, again, it's one of the few things she had control over, one of the few things her guardians couldn't take away from her as a child. Likely it's a mix of both. Regardless I want to crack her brain open and pick apart how it works as the world unravels around her.
