She goes on to befriend her. Help her get better at flower arranging. She defends her from bullies. She introduces her to her friends. She has a huge hand in bringing Sakura out of her shell.

What does she want out of all of this?

For Sakura to reach her full potential.

Even after Sakura dumps her friendship and they begin a hostile rivalry, at the end of their fight in the Chuunin Exams, she smiles and tells Sakura she’s bloomed into a beautiful flower.

She is literally the underappreciated MVP. She’s a badass ninja, a loyal friend, a wonderful person, and really a great roll model towards girls. Its hard to find really good friendships between girls in children media.
