One of the funniest looking things I've ever knit
I had some leftover cotton yarn that I was determined to make into socks despite cotton not really having the required stretch
I knit, stretched, and washed a swatch to figure out sizing and used 1x1 ribbing for the entire sock (excluding the gusset and toe)
I still don't think I'd recommend 100% cotton for socks but it was a fun challenge and even after multiple wears and washes the socks fit surprisingly well!

Bought some sock yarn from a pop up at a yarn store and each hank of yarn came with a stitch marker attached to the label

My little village is done!
The whole pattern is actually a hanky edging but I just wanted the single strip.

I’ve seen this GFM be endorsed by multiple Palestinians on Instagram - it is to help two craftspeople and their families to escape Gaza into Egypt. They had initially denied requests from people to offer money as it felt useless in the situation, but two are now looking to evacuate. Preserving traditional Palestinian crafts in the face of genocide is vital, but I’ll let the description of the fundraiser explain better than I could.

found this abandoned quilt top while cleaning and had to finish it up finally. screen printed and sewn last semester and finally quilted and bound yesterday. using holographic foils to emulate the glassy appearance of diatoms under the microscope, i sewed a log cabin pattern as a playful nod to the idea that diatoms live in tiny glass houses.
Glass Cabin, 2023, 40x42in, pieced cotton with textile foil screenprints, polyester batting, gifted fabric backing

thankful for the gift of a new sewing machine that allows me to do more than a simple straight stitch… feeling like i’m back at SAIC with the ability to learn a new machine. my first time free motion quilting + doing a satin stitch edge! the bleach painting is of magnified coral sand filled with foraminifera, bits of calcium shells from mollusks, and coral skeletons
