Shuri x FEM!reader Warning: break-up, angst no fluff maybe a good ending

Shuri and you both knew that the relationship you both had was coming to an end. Fights and tensions between you two became a habit, some days you both would ignore each other. You hated how Shuri was isolating herself after her brother's death. She hated how you became busy and "never spent time with her" but in actuality, you tried your best. You tried to stretch your patience with her, even with how toxic she became. You had too much on your plate right now and her being one of them. You had to study for an upcoming exam to finally get yourself into medical school plus your sister's sick and now, you had to deal with Shuri.

When your patience ran thin, it snapped. A huge argument broke out between you two. Stupid and things that couldn't be taken back were flown between you two. "Every day, I wish you'd never get in that medical school and that you'd die or get hit by a bus" Shuri threw out "I hate you and I wished for your death too" You lashed back. When the words finally sink into both of your minds, you both realize how extensive the comments both of you have thrown out to each other. She fell to her knees and sobbed. Tears were flowing down your face, feeling the regret of the words you let you go.

You slowly approached her and when she felt you being near, she wrapped both her arms around your waist, holding on to you and repeating the words "I'm sorry" over and over again. You whispered"I'm sorry too" while cradling her head. That night, you both knew that the relationship needed to end. You both need space and ending the far-too-broken relationship would do you good.

This leads to the present where both of you sit in front of each other in a cafe. "How are you?" She asked "I'm fine, got my license. You?" You replied "Good, good, healing" Her answer was short and straightforward "I'm so sorry for your loss, I'm sure you'll make a great queen," You said and reached to hold her hand. She didn't pull away "I'm sorry," She said, which made you look at her confusingly. "Why?" You asked "Cause, I ruined your life" She replied, looking intensely at you "No, I'm sorry for not being there when you were grieving, I should've been there for you" You added which made her shake her head no. "We were both hurting, you know that," She said, tilting her head to the side. It's great seeing you do well. But now my nephew is looking for me" She said which made you perk up "Nakia and T'Challa?" You asked and she nodded yes with a broad smile that you always love. "I do too, patients have been lining up since it's the holidays and people get into trouble for stupid reasons" You half-jokingly said which caused her to laugh.

You both bid goodbye to each other and parted ways, you heading to the hospital you worked in and her towards where the aircraft might be. Before you were out of her sight, Shuri shouted "Maybe in an alternate universe, it's you and I against the world!" She shouted and caused you to turn around "Maybe!" You shouted back before continuing to walk and maybe get a cab ride.

As you sat inside the cab you called a message ping on your phone. It's from an unknown number. When you opened it, the message made you smile and thought of the possible ways to work it out.

Pairing: Shuri x Fem!reader Warnings: Angst, Spoilers, mentions about injuries, fluff

part one, part two

You did your best to distract yourself from worrying about your wife. You were informed that they have just arrived. So you and the queen aboard the aircraft, get to the palace as quickly as possible.

Shuri was held up by M'baku. The injuries she sustained were brutal but thanks to the Black Panther abilities she has, she's able to survive it. She was limping to get to the lab to be patched up when she heard someone screaming her name.

The voice sounded familiar that when she looked up, her legs would give up. You were calling out for her name, running towards her. "Shuri!" You screamed again and when you were near to where she was standing, you rushed to hug her tight.

When she engulfed you in her arms she felt as if she was home, in your arms where she can lay down her defenses, where she can rest and not worry about tomorrow, where she was safe. "You're here" She whispered in your ear " Thank Bast you're awake" She whispered again.

You cried into her shoulder and she did the same but when you hugged her even tighter she winced in pain. You pulled away and asked if she was hurt, she simply nodded. You moved to her side and let her lean into you. "I've got her to thank you Lord M'Baku, the debts will be repaid," You said to him but he swayed his head no " I did it for Wakanda," He said and went to excuse himself to return to Jabariland.

You held her up with your hand around her waist and her arm around your shoulder for support "Where is my mother?" She asked "She's inside waiting" You replied and she nodded in agreement.

When you two reached inside her lab, her mother walked in. The Queen and her hugged each other tightly, asking one another if they are fine and telling her that she worries for her daughter's safety, praying to Bast and the ancestors to keep her safe.

Shuri soon later started to work on patching herself up, but you stopped her before she could begin "Nah uh, I'll do it" You told her. She just gave you what you needed because if she didn't agree you'd say "I am your wife and that is my duty" and how she was injured so she didn't but she did plan to mess with you and ended up not going through with it.

"When were you up?" She asked when you were done "Maybe a day after you left," You said as you cleaned up your mess. The silence was surrounding you two. She felt kind of awkward with you now with the mess she made. When you threw the last garbage out, you fell to your knees, and the feelings you kept at bay finally gushed out. Shuri saw you fell so she hopped off and approached you gently. She heard your cries and soon after, she engulfed you in her arms "I thought I lost you" You began, trying your hardest to form the words you want to say to her. "I thought I wouldn't be able to see you again, feel you again, kiss you again. I thought of the worse and I hate myself for doing that" You continue. She stayed silent and let you cry out the pent-up feelings you kept to yourself "And the past months, I've been nothing more than selfish. When you were grieving, I wanted you all to myself instead of letting you do whatever you want to do" You added which made Shuri shish you now "You weren't selfish, Sthandwa. If anything I was the one who completely abounded you. I know you were grieving too but I let work consume me, I'm sorry for that" Shuri cried out this time and you both sobbed hard. "I'm sorry too, My Shuri" You cried out.

You pulled away and faced her. Leaned in to place your forehead against hers.

"I love you" She whispered "I will always love you" She added again "I love you too" You whispered back "I will always love you" You added

Both of you were hesitant but later leaned in to kiss. It was slow and hesitant but was soon replaced with longing and passion.

You both apologize to each other and vow that even when times do get rough, you'll always be there for each other.

The great war II

Pairing: Shuri x fem!reader Warning: Spoilers, angst, mentions of drowning

part one

"Shuri stop this" The Queen begged her daughter to stop whatever she was planning to do "Safely escort the Queen back to Jabariland" Was all Shuri could say, ignoring her mother entirely. Two Jabari soldiers and Dora Milage escorted the Queen to an aircraft carrier. Despite her protest, Shuri could only mouth "I'm sorry mother" as Queen Ramonda disappear inside the aircraft.

Shuri fidgets a necklace you gave to her. She kissed the necklace and turned around to walk toward the lab. Nakia and Riri were trailing behind her. She was trying to recreate the heart-shaped herb. "She treated me like a sister, even if we only met yesterday, she treated me like family" Riri gently spoke once they were inside the lab. Shuri turned around to face her and smiled sadly. "She has always been that way," Shuri said and patted Riri's shoulder.

"Let us begin" Shuri announced and just like clockwork, the two of them returned to what they were previously doing.

Shuri can't help but think if this was right but for you, she was willing to kill anybody who tried to hurt you.

When Shuri finally took the herb, she thought it wasn't working. "Who did you see?" Nakia asked. Shuri was far too angry to answer and then punched the nearest mannequin. It went straight to the wall and made a dent.

The three of them were shocked that Riri uttered "Can I get some of that?" This made Shuri and Nakia look at her and back at each other. Nakia slowly approached Shuri and hugged her tightly. 'The Black Panther lives' was all she thought.

Shuri began to make her suit, adding improvements to her past designs.

When she lifted the Black Panther helmet she whispered "All this for you, my Y/N" and tried activating her suit.

The council was discussing possible strategies for the upcoming war. Suddenly an aircraft was hovering above them. It opened and released the Black Panther. Shuri gracefully landed at the center and then finally revealed herself.

She showed everyone who she's become and Queen Ramonda slowly approached her daughter. "My Shuri," She said and placed both her hands on either side of her daughter's cheek, caressing them softly then she hugged her tightly, remembering her son. "Show them who you are" The Queen whispered and Shuri nodded slowly.

M'baku approached her and stood in front of her, head held high. She does the same and they began to arm wrestle.

M'baku was defeated by the challenge. He clasps her hand and raises it high shouting"The Black Panther lives!" And the council chanted in celebration at their new protector.

"Namor thinks Wakanda is in a weak state, our queen almost getting killed and with our capital destroyed. He believes we have no protector, but now. Now is the time we strike" Shuri said to the elders.

An elder asked, "How, when we don't even know how to find him."

"we'll bring Namor to us" Shuri answered. Her mother wasn't interfering anymore, confident that her daughter could speak for herself.

"Here again?" asked the leader of the water tribe

“no”, Shuri answered "But a distant location in the sea"

Alright, M'baku said "Let's say this does work"He paused "assuming we can kill this guy, who can fly and is as strong as Hulk" HE added.

he looked around before continuing "Is murdering this guy the right solution?"

"You are calling for his death when his only crime was intimidation, "The leader of the water tribe said

"What has changed, Lord M'Baku?" Asked the leader of the mining tribe asked

"His soldiers, do not call him General or King, they call him Ku'kul'kan," M'baku said

"What is that?" Asked the water tribe leader again

"Feather serpent God" M'Baku replied which made the elder scratch his forehead "What?" M'Baku begins "You think because we live in the mountains we do not have access to books?" M'Baku asked again

"Elders" Shuri said "With your permission, I would like to talk to Lord M'baku alone," Shuri asked and all the elders, including the Queen, agreed. The Queen was the last one to exit and when she reached her daughter, she gave her a tight squeeze on her hand, a way of saying "Do what you need to do" And walked out to maybe retire in her temporary quarters.

"Namor's not finished," Shuri said "He promised to destroy the surface world. Now is our opportunity to take him, What are you afraid of?" Shuri asked angrily

"War" M'baku said "If Namor is indeed a God to his people, killing him will risk eternal war," M'baku explained

"And so what?" Shuri asked, "Wasn't my wife's life deserving of eternal war?" She added

"Of it was," M'baku wavered "Of course. she. was" And he continued. You were a big help in Wakanda. For a girl who's been through a lot, you still found it in your heart to help others. "But it is not what she have wanted for you" M'baku and Shuri held their gazes "It is not what I want for my people," M'baku said.

Shuri stood there and was deep in her thought., perhaps, rethinking about initiating war. But she recalled how both you and her mother suffered from the attack.

"You speak of my wife as if she's still here," Shuri said which cause M'baku's face to morph with confusion "Of what she wanted for me." The image of you smiling appeared in her mind "Her hopes and her dreams" And she paused. She winced about the thought of seeing you being saved by Nakia, not breathing replaying in her mind "But she's fighting for her life. In that bed, laying and fighting for her life!" Shuri shouted "Namor drowned her right in front of me" Shuri cried out. M'baku's face was saddened again "So her dreams, her goals, her hopes for me" Shuri paused to keep her emotions controlled "It doesn't exist, it doesn't matter anymore. What matters is what I want and what I want is Namor dead" She pointed at him "And you are going to help me get it" She continued and M'baku only hummed in agreement. "Good we leave in the morning" Shuri walked away, leaving M'Baku deep in his thought.

Shuri was walking to where her mother was staying. When she located it, she knocked and opened the door. Her mother was sitting beside you. She has been taking care of you since Shuri couldn’t.

You were in a coma since you received the toughest blow from the attack. Shuri and her team did everything that they could to save you, but here you are, laying and fighting for your life. Shuri approached you and leaned to kiss you on your forehead. You were stable for now, no one knows when you'll wake up. "Sthandwa I'm here now" Shuri whispered "I'm the Black Panther now" She proudly said in your ear.

Her mother could only watch her daughter long for someone she truly love. She stayed beside you and caress your hand, just enough to feel you. "Are you sure about this?" Queen Ramonda asked. Shuri looked up and said " For her, for you, for all of Wakanda, I will fight for it," Shuri said. Queen Ramonda couldn't help but reach out for her daughter and embrace her "Be careful, Show them who we are" She reminded her and Shuri nodded.

When Shuri and the others departure to fight and lure Namor into their trap. Back in Jabariland, people were managing you while the Queen said her goodbyes to her daughter. When a Jabari Woman cleaned your arm you moved and clasp her hand, which made the woman scream. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to startle you but where are we?" You asked while looking around at your surroundings "We are at Jabariland my lady" She replied.

'Why are we at Jaba- That's right Namor attacked the capital' You thought while remembering the events. When you were about to get up, the Queen arrived.

As she opened the door, she saw you sitting upward and when you saw her, you smiled genuinely. She ran to you and hugged you tight "Thank Bast your back" She said. You hugged her back. When you look around, you couldn’t find your wife so you had to ask where she is "Where is Shuri, my Queen?" And when she pulled away, she downcast her head and explained to you that Shuri was at war, fighting against Namor.

You were shocked at how Shuri handled the situation. "How long was I out?" You asked the Queen "Four days" The Queen replied. You nodded. However, your mind couldn't help but spiral into a whirlwind of bad images of Shuri getting hurt or even worse, her dying. You winced at the image of her death and when the Queen saw you visibly winced, she assured you everything would be fine and all they could do is wait for their safe return, hopefully.

after shuri left you to talk with namor you had been laying on the ‘bed’ for the whole time not being sure what to do with yourself. maybe half and hour later or at least something that felt like it she came back looking really stressed. you decided not to ask her about it not being sure if she trust you. yeah, you might have had a moment with her but that doesn’t mean she trust you with her life all of the sudden.

shuri took a sit next to you and stared dumbly into the room silently. you gently touched her arm but she flinched. you quickly took away your hand and it caught her attention.

“no, no.” she said and held your hand that previously touched her. “i don’t mind you touching me.” she said and you smiled softly at her.

“that’s good to know.” you said and she let out a small laugh.

“listen, i need to think everything through.” she said as her other hand the one that wasn’t touching you flew straight up to her forehead to massage it a bit.

“how come?” you asked still not being sure if she wants to talk with you about it all.

“well,” she started and stroked your hand with her thumb. “namor wants wakanda to help him with starting the world war. and if we won’t agree he will attack us.” she explained skipping the fact about namor wanting you dead. you bit down on your lip.

“that’s a situation without a reasonable exit.” you said and shuri nodded her head at you. “there must be another way to go.” you added and started thinking about everything shuri shook her head at you gently.

“i’m afraid there’s not.” she said quietly still calming your hand.

“well, maybe-“ you probably would say something stupid but a sudden noise interrupted you.

yours and shuri’s attention immediately flew straight to the thing that was making the noise. after a moment you realised it was a underwater ship. with some woman inside of it. shuri definitely knew her cause her eyes widened at the sight of her.

“nakia?! what are you doing here?!” she screamed-whispered when the woman came out of the little green ship.

“there’s no time for that now. come in and take the girl with you. hurry up!” she said and shuri was standing still. “shuri cmon! we are lucky there’s no one here now.” she said and came up to the princess.

“no! no! you don’t understand, it’ll start a war!” shuri argued but the woman grabbed her by the shoulders and put into the cabin. you came in yourself. nakia then came in too and the three of you swam out of this weird cage.

when you were at the land finally you felt something pulling you up and you couldn’t believe your eyes. there was wakanda’s spaceship. you were actually speechless.

when the weird thing took you up you ended being pulled into the spaceship by the hole in it’s floor. when you finally touched the ground of the machine you noticed the queen of wakanda standing in the corner and immediately hugging shuri when she also came up through the same hole you did.

“i’m so glad you’re okay.” ramonda said squeezing her daughter in her arms.

“we need to go back to wakanda shortly. i’m scared there’s a war coming.” said worried shuri and it immediately worried her mother.

all of you arrived at the palace and shuri took you to her lab wanting to show you all of her machines and also wanting to know if there are some things you’d improve in them. you felt flattered, really.

when you came into the lab you were met with huge space filled with so many machines you’ve never seen in your life. your eyes might just get bigger looking at all of it. shuri laughed seeing your reaction but also kept walking to her normal stand.

“so that’s my lab.” she said and you looked at her.

“it’s amazing.” you said being totally mesmerised. “but why is no one here?” you asked suddenly noticing the lack of people.

“well, i suppose they were waiting for my come back.” she said being curious herself why nobody was there.

“princess, there’s your mother coming down to your lab.” your conversation was interrupted by the voice of the al.

“thank you griot.” shuri said and you turned around to see the wind going down. the door opened and you saw queen ramonda in her less casual outfit. she smiled kindly at you and then looked at her daughter.

“shuri, i think it would be better for us to get ready for the war you mentioned earlier.” she said in a very stern tone. “even though i think we can handle this namor, i still prefer to be ready.” she added and shuri looked at her unsurely.

“i’m not so sure about handling him.” she responded obviously worried.

“well, even if it’s still better to be prepared.” said the queen not wanting to think about the possible future.

“yeah, your right.” shuri said and turned around to her stand while browsing some files on the huge screen right before her eyes. “took y/n somewhere so she will be safe.” she said not looking at you or her mother.

“i want to help.” you protested and shuri let out a laugh at you.

“namor wants you. there’s no way i’m going to let him even have a chance at finding you.” she said while her mother stood in place. you looked at the back of her head.

“i still want to help.” you said and shuri shook her head.

“great. and i want to keep you safe.” she said and you rolled your eyes at her.

“it doesn’t mean i’ll let you do that.” you argued and ramonda raised a brow at you. “you saved me from him today, let me return the favour.”

“you will.” shuri said finally finding the file she was looking for the whole time. “if you let me keep you safe.” she said witch a sarcastic smile, turning to you. you let out a scuff.

“be serious.” you said and came up to her closer. “i can help with the fighting. you saw me in action.” you argued but shuri wasn’t going to break so easily.

“yes, and you have some pretty good skills but this man wants to get you. you understand? i can’t let him get close to you not even thinking about fighting with you.” she explained also coming up to you, so now the two of you we’re pretty close. and actually her reasoning made a lot of sense now. but you couldn’t just give up the little fight that easily.

“i want to help you, somehow.” you said being less stubborn than before. shuri noticed the change in your appearance and smiled a bit. “the best you can do is hide. i won’t let him find you.” she said and you rolled your eyes at her. her stare changed a bit to a more unbothered one.

“i think she can help you with the new suits for our army.” suddenly ramonda stepped into the conversation and you were reminded of her still presence in the room. shuri also looked to her side being a bit confused.

“i was counting on that.” she said looking at you again. at this moment she realised how close the two of you were. you eyes slipped down to her lips for a second only to come back to her eyes again.

“i’ll be glad.” you said which came out more as a whisper. shuri smiled at you.

“i’ll let you do your thing.” ramonda said smiling at shuri, but something has changed within her expression.

“great mama.” shuri replied and the two of you watched the woman leave the lab the same way she came into it a moment ago.

“soo,” shuri started, catching your attention again. “you remember our little talk in the cage?” she asked and your eyes widened a bit.

“i have no clue what you’re talking about.” you said not being able to hide the smile that was forming on your lips. she raised her eyebrow at you.

“oh? you sure?” she asked stepping even closer to you. now your faces were only centimetres away from each other.

“m-no.” you pretended to think for a second while looking around and then your eyes found hers once again. “you have to remind me, i think.” you said and bit your lower lip. shuri smiled at you even more and shook her head a bit.

“what a shame i don’t think i fully remember it too.” she said and one of her hands caught your jaw bringing your head a bit higher. you realised she did it probably because she wanted to kiss you. left alone the thought of it made you blush. “or maybe i remember.” she said noticing the sudden color appearing on your cheeks. shuri licked her lips while still keeping the eye contact with you which made you even more flustered. your eyes uncontrollably went to her lips when she licked them. she smiled even more. “i think we were arguing about the fact that i in fact, do make you flustered.” she finished the thought and your head was literally empty.

“well, maybe you do, princess.” you answered her and she definitely liked this response. she delicately blushed herself hearing you use her title.

“and you make me go crazy.” she whispered and chuckled at the end. she then gently shook her head loosing the eye contact for a moment only to remake it second later. “like no one else.” she added and you felt your cheeks burn again. she chuckled again but also pulled her face a bit closer to yours. your noses were almost touching.

“i’m glad the feeling is mutual, princess.” you said and she genuinely smiled and you with the most honest and kind smile you’ve seen for a long time.

“so i guess i can kiss you right now?” she asked and came even closer to you, to the fact you noses were in fact, touching.

“yes, princess.” you answered and she smiled still looking into your eyes. “i want nothing more.” you added and she chuckled again.

then she slowly came closer and her lips finally touched yours. the kiss was soft and unsure at the start, but when you kissed her back she gained back her normal confidence. your hands found her waits and hugged her, wanting to finally touch her. shuri smiled into the kiss and finally let go of you jaw, wrapping her hands around your neck, brining you even closer to her.

the kiss got a bit more aroused when she gently licked your lip. you opened your mouth slightly letting her have the access. shuri smiled once again and delicately slid her tongue to your mouth. you raised your head a bit wanting to deepen the kiss even more. shuri groaned quietly feeling your moment.

shuri’s hands found their ways to your hair and started playing with it, ruining your hairstyle totally. you bit down on her lip feeling her touch which caused her to moan quietly. it was your time to smile into the kiss. your hands were on her shoulders but slowly moved down just to lay on her chest and maybe a bit squeeze it. shuri sighed loudly as she felt your hands.

the two of you were so caught up in the kiss and all that you didn’t hear the sound of the elevator’s door opening. the thing you did notice in fact, was the surprised gasp of the person who just entered the lab and saw you literally swallow each other’s tongues.

“oh my.” the person exclaimed and the two of you immediately pulled out from each other. and finally got to see who was the unlucky guy to disturb this awaited moment. it was none other than okoye herself. she was standing with a proud but mostly unsurprised grin on her face.

“okoye.” shuri said wanting to get over it as quick as possible.

“shuri.” she smiled to her. “y/n.” she smiled at you too.

“what brings you here?” shuri asked her trying to compose her t-shirt to look untouchable.

“i just wanted to check on you and ask if you have anything for me with what i can defend myself but,” she said, grin still presented on her face. “i think i’ll step by next time.” she said and nodded her head. okoye then turned around and stepped into the elevator again.

“i’ll see you!” shuri smiled to her letting her real smile come out. okoye smiled even more at her.

“but girls please do some real work.” she added and pushed one of the buttons. “and if you feel like doing something else, find a better spot for it.” she added and the door shut close. shuri rubbed her forehead feeling embarrassed.

she then came up to you once again and kissed your forehead not taking her eyes of you even for a second. she then pulled only an inch away.

“what do you say about working for sometime and then going to see my room?” she offered and you snorted while rolling your eyes.

“i think that’s a great idea, princess.” you replied and raised your head a bit higher so your lip could reach cheek.
