The Host.

TRIN ERIXYN-STRELLATA. Cut sequence: holo-program personality, actor, and brother to the CEO of Equa Industries, AKA one of the biggest robot unicorn manufacturers in the galaxy.

The Mentors.

ALI AGUSTIN. Cut sequence: professional stylist, amateur cosmetician, and fashion guru extraordinaire with 10 years of experience styling and preparing racers for the big screen, coaching them in everything from how to smile to how to angle themselves for the best holo-cam shots

WYSTERA EVES. Cut sequence: racing instructor who has assisted some of the biggest names in the industry, including many of the past and current RISE racers. Focuses on overall racing technique.

YVETTE CORVALIS. Cut sequence: racing instructor and robot unicorn stunt choreographer who has worked with racers all across the Big Three, especially with TWILIGHT. Focuses on artistry, stuntwork, and flying technique.

MAGMA. Cut sequence: LAZER’s brash, hot-headed star. One of the original nine racers, who has since retired and gone on to become a racing instructor under the same agency. Focuses on power and speed.

The Guest Mentor.

SNOW. Cut sequence: Ice World’s biggest racer, the so-called Snow Queen of robot unicorn racing. Famous for both her brutally beautiful racing technique and the sparkling diamonds implanted into her irises...and her blunt and aloof (read: bitchy) personality.

NOW INTRODUCING:

The Trainees.

Each trainee will walk on stage to be introduced individually. What song and clips play as your character makes their first appearance (~10 seconds of airtime)? What is the snappy, one-sentence description the announcer uses to introduce them to viewers?

The mentors will ask each trainee 1-3 questions to start things off. What is a particularly sensitive question that the mentors will pose to your character, and how will they respond?

After initial introductions, the 90-second racing clip your character submitted with their audition will be aired. Throughout the introduction and racing clips, there will be comments from other trainees filmed during private interviews. Referring back to another character’s information sheet, what does your character say about the other racer’s 90-second clip to the Race Star 33 staff in the private interview? What is their reaction to that racer’s answers to the mentors and the 90-second clip?

The mentors will also evaluate the 90-second clips. What are some of the comments that the mentors have for your racer in their evaluations?

Finally, the scores given by the judges will be revealed. See below for your character’s final score and ranking. How do they react?

At the end of the introductions, the concept of cells will be explained to the trainees. The 11 highest-ranking trainees (based solely on their race scores - no audience voting in this episode) will be able to pick their own cells. If your character is in the top 11, who will they choose?

STELLAR Magazine once described robot unicorn racing as ‘a pre-teen girl’s fever dream made flesh’ - and indeed, the glamorously cutthroat robot unicorn racing industry is, for some aspiring racers, more of a distant, hysteria-shot fever dream than reality.

So when Riot Moon announced its partnership with Starflix to create the ultimate racer team via a new survival show, the applications poured in.

Thirty-three out of over 10,000 will make it onto the show. And out of those 33, only 3 will remain to debut with the up-and-coming agency of the industry, poised to displace even the Big Three.

Do you have what it takes to survive until the end?

[MECHANICS.]

Audition clips will be shown during the first episode. After the first episode, the 11 highest-ranking racers (to be determined by the judges’ and mentors’ evaluations) will be able to assemble their own cells.

A ‘cell’ is comprised of 3 racers from distinct groups (ICE group, LAVA group, SKY group, or UNICORN group). There may not be any repeated groups in a cell, and if a racer is chosen for a cell, they are not permitted to refuse.

Cells advance and are eliminated together. If one racer in a cell is eliminated, then the entire cell is eliminated.

Individual scores are determined by 1) racing competition performance, and 2) audience voting via the StarVerse app.

The identity of the judges are to remain secret throughout the show, but the mentors to guide and advise the trainees will all be famous faces in the industry. Some episodes will also feature guest mentors, with appearances from current top racers.

Ranked in tiers based on metrics such as social media followers and annual revenue.

[A-TIER.]

The Big Three. Everyone knows them, and they're considered the gold standard of the industry. Securing a spot on a Big Three team is insanely hard, but if you can pull that off, then you're almost guaranteed to be wildly successful after debut.

TWILIGHT {Ice World} | TWILIGHT has a reputation for being the most unforgiving out of the Big Three. Ex-racers have admitted to completely fabricating backstories, hobbies and interests, and even family members and love interests under the agency’s direction, and TWILIGHT is also infamous for some of their racers’ staggeringly short careers (the most extreme of which being Ephemera)

LAZER {Lava World} | Notorious for how strict they are. Refuses to "coddle" their racers in any capacity. Ever since their first team, they’ve cultivated a badass, tough girl image for their racers, though they’re more likely to simply drop a racer than they are to pressure them into changing their personality for the camera.

RISE {Sky World} | Although hardcore RISE fans like to praise them for being the most ‘honorable’ of the Big Three, RISE’s training regimens – and beauty standards, for that matter – are just as ruthless as those of their counterparts.

[B-TIER.]

Established players in the robot unicorn racing world. Though their racers are less likely to completely sweep the podium, these agencies and their racer teams have a solid fanbase and following and break plenty of domestic records, despite multiple cases of mismanagement.

GL8CIER {Ice World} | Although GL8CIER racers are by no means untalented, most of the media attention they get is due to their racy image. Sex (and fashion shoots, and editorial campaigns, and lingerie ads…) sells, and GL8CIER knows it. In the last few years, GL8CIER has earned more money from their racers’ acting, modeling, and holo-ad activities than they have from monetary rewards associated with actual races.

VOLCANIX {Lava World} | Well-known for their business and racing collaborations with agencies from other planets, and their racers’ dangerous – but eye-catching – stunts.

CLOUD9 {Sky World} | Notorious for how badly they mismanage their racers. All their racers undergo grueling training and become some of the most talented faces in the industry, but CLOUD9 tends to put their racers on ‘indefinite hiatus’ at the drop of a hat, instead focusing on whoever is generating the most profit for them at the moment.

RIOT MOON {Unicorn City} | Riot Moon debuted their first racer team six seasons ago, and their popularity has been steadily rising ever since. Riot Moon has attracted plenty of attention for being the first major racing agency based out of Unicorn City, and RACE STAR 33 has done nothing but good for their ratings.

[C-TIER.]

Still relatively well-known, but without the same reach as other agencies. Many times, it is one racer or one racer team that catapults these agencies into the Federation-wide public consciousness for the first time.

VALKYRIE {Ice World} | Their record-breaking racer IRON MAIDEN brought Valkyrie widespread renown due to her fierce, warmongering persona – as well as her cutting-edge racetrack acrobatics. Iron Maiden has recently retired, and Valkyrie is on the lookout for a replacement.

EMB3R {Lava World} | Known for their multitude of racers that break out of some of the established Lava World racing stereotypes (but they have plenty of hotheaded powerhouse racers signed with them, too). Generally considered to be relatively experimental in their racers and racing techniques.

STARLIGHT {Sky World} | Out of all the agencies currently active in the industry, Starlight has proooobably debuted the most racers with a quirky but cute and sugary-sweet concept.

IMAGE. Cold, determined, aloof, and a bit cruel, a bit ruthless, a bit brutal. Snow is robot unicorn racing’s resident Ice Queen, steely and frigid and diamond-eyed; untouchable. Considered Ice World’s top / most recognizable racer.

IMPACT. Popularized optometric cosmetic surgeries involving iris alterations when TWILIGHT debuted her for the second time { with diamonds surgically implanted into her eyes } ; widely recognized for ‘brutally beautiful’ racing technique that emphasizes power, form, and technique over speed and agility.

HISTORY. Debuted as Snow Princess 12 years ago { 4018 }, took an extended hiatus in 4020, then debuted a second time as Snow in 4023.

SKY . CELESTIAL RESONATOR [+]

IMAGE. Enigmatic and ethereal - a mysterious, otherworldly beauty who burst onto the racing scene seemingly overnight. [ info from @jay-swagsby ]

IMPACT. Has recently popularized white-ink tattoos { the very ones that made TWILIGHT interested in her in the first place! }; Celestial Resonator’s insides of shifting galaxies has become the newest trend { made possible using a combination of camouflage, cloaking, and holographic technology), even in underground street racing circles { though, rumor has it that some experimental prototypes were stolen some number of years before Sky debuted. Not to mention all the conspiracy theories about who she was allegedly brought in to replace . . . }

HISTORY. Debuted two years ago { 4028 }

ICE . WRATH MARE [+]

IMAGE. Brazen, brash, hot-headed, ruthless - Ice is TWILIGHT’s attempt to mimic some of the strategies that work so well with Lava World audiences. Ice is all sharp edges and biker glam, and her accent lends her an air of mystery and thrill that immediately captivated the public.

IMPACT. Her popularity as a racer has helped the rise of grittier and edgier fashion trends in mainstream Ice World markets, like spiked combat boots and leather gloves and helmets studded with spikes of diamond and crystal.

HISTORY. Debuted eight years ago { 4022 }

FLOWER . PAGEANT PRINCESS [+]

IMAGE. The Long-Legged Bimbo to Supernova’s polished Heroine and Sunbeam’s beloved Sky-Daughter. Giggly, disarming, doll-like and ditzy, with a dreamy smile perpetually plastered on her face. Darling, though dumb. [ info from @bebemoon ]

IMPACT. Her robo-doll / pixie-bot aesthetic has become insanely popular on Starstagram, thanks to all the teasers and promo RISE has put out prior to her debut. In addition, industry insiders who are ~in the know~ about her holo-veiled features have taken after RISE in experimenting more with the capabilities of the technology.

HISTORY. Debuted in the June of 4030, at the Lava World Circuit. However, RISE has been dropping ad campaigns, teasers, and even a line of uv beauty products for their newest racer for years !

SUNBEAM . UV N-7 [+]

IMAGE. The shining sky to Supernova’s golden sun. Dressed in light, airy pinks and purples and never without a crown of beaten-gold laurels, Sunbeam is Supernova’s younger - though just as poised and elegant - counterpart. { Some say that she was brought in after Supernova retired to take her place as the ‘goddess of victory’ on the RISE team, but that, of course, has never been officially confirmed }

IMPACT. Popularized holographic wings as a mainstream fashion accessory in Sky World markets; widely recognized for an elegant, streamlined technique that still allows her to score high in speed/agility categories.

HISTORY. Debuted seven years ago { 4023 }

SUPERNOVA . ROBOT UNICORN MK-II [+]

IMAGE. The goddess of victory, poised with divine light - and, now that she’s back and it’s public knowledge that she is a mother, RISE has also played up the quietly graceful, serene, caring, virtuous and regal sides of her image. [ info from @interluxetumbra ]

IMPACT. As one of the original racers, Supernova’s impact is everywhere, from pop music to movies to fashion to art. Sky World teenagers swoon over gold-dust makeup and buy laurel crowns for each other; Starstagram influencers and luxury fashion houses alike are *always* doing Supernova-inspired gowns and makeup and accessories. In the pro racing world, her austere, elegant style of dressage has characterized RISE unicorns for decades.

HISTORY. Debuted for the first time 23 years ago { 4007 }, retired 10 years ago { 4020 }, has just made a comeback and debuted again for the June 4030 Lava World Circuit.

FLAME . IRON PEGASUS [+]

IMAGE. Reckless and hot-headed and mischievous, Flame’s image is very, very obviously catering to the mainstream Lava World audiences who eat that kind of thing up. A rebel without a cause, a fire that cannot be tamed, and tough as nails to boot - who wouldn’t love her? [ info from @carelessmidnight ]

IMPACT. Fans have noted some similarities to a first-gen racer named Magma, who was in the original team that LAZER debuted with. The hot-headed powerhouse racer has become somewhat of a lasting “trope” with the agency, and for a good reason - Lava Worlders love it.

HISTORY. Debuted one year ago { 4029 }

NYX . U-800 [+]

IMAGE. The villainess, the goddess of the night - ‘like a prayer, or a curse, was her name ever spit’. Wicked and golden-eyed and sharp and lethal, with the classic Lava World temper and a burning, untouchable beauty. [ info from @kzombi3 ]

IMPACT. Nyx was the first time LAZER went in a more “divine” direction { à la RISE }, and though the reactions have been mixed, her debut has definitely bolstered the popularity of a ‘fire goddess meets biker glam’ aesthetic that wasn’t explored much by Lava Worlders in the past. Her unicorn has also become a source of inspiration in street racing circles, due to both it’ deadly, laser-sharp precision and its villainous aesthetic.

HISTORY. Debuted four years ago { 4026 }

WIDOWMAKER . VOID MAKER [+]

IMAGE. The mysterious one, quiet and severe and short-spoken - the child of a secret agent, high up in the Estrellian Federation’s political echelons, cool and suave and likely trained to kill. [ info from @now-on-elissastillstands ]

IMPACT. A bit of a departure from the stereotypical hot-headed rebel, but enough of an enigma to hold the attention of Lava World audiences for all this time. Widowmaker’s unicorn is sleek and mechanical, for all that she has a gritty, ‘rough-and-tumble’ { according to the tabloids, anyway } way of racing. In underground street racing circles, her Void is wildly, wildly popular and has served as the inspiration for many other robot unicorns, cobbled together using stolen parts and salvaged metal - because that was how Void Maker was originally built, all those years ago { and rumor has it that the facility Widowmaker originally stole Void from was raided again a bit later, anyway - and nobody knows what happened to the other robot horse models that were being developed . . . }

RUA: GUTS AND GLORY

They call robot unicorn racing ‘glitter-clad annihilation’, but in the slums of Unicorn City, anyone can tell you that it’s a hundred times more gore than glitter.

Long before the Big Three agencies that dominate the major leagues – a world of glitz and glamour and designer gowns and cosmetic surgeries – brought robot unicorn racing into pop culture, the gangs that run the criminal underground of each respective planet in the Estrellian Federation were racing unicorns that they cobbled together out of spare parts and stolen robot horses. And when the billion-credit RUR industry exploded across holo-screens in every corner of the galaxy, the gritty, rough-and-tumble street races were swept along in its meteoric rise to the top – even if its popularity was confined to shady back alleys, skirting the edges of the law.

What started as a way to celebrate after a successful heist or to blow off steam after a particularly narrow escape has risen into a significant sector of the Federation’s underground on its own, with all the illegal bets and good ol’ fashioned mayhem and destruction galore. In the professional leagues, the judges care about aesthetics and form and execution: here, nothing matters except speed and fury (expressed in the extremely scientific units of ‘how much shit you blow up’, of course) … and money. Crime bosses have the potential to reap thousands of credits for each win (though that’s still nothing compared to the money in the legitimate industry), which is all the more motivation for them to ally themselves with the best – and the most brutal – street racers out there.
