Spotted hyenas are the most successful predator (survival) in Africa. They deserve to be. When you look at a spotted hyena Mother, or any female spotted hyena, please remember this: They have a very painful birth. Every female has a pseudo penis (false penis). This is actually their clitoris. They even have a scrotum, this is their labia that has fused together. They have to give birth through this long and narrow, the "penis". Just before this happens, the clitorus (penis) ruptures. This birthing process is so difficult and painful, many first time Mothers die and many cubs suffocate to death while (stuck too long) in that narrow opening (pseudo penis).
