CARNELIAN, PARK SUNGHOON.
Tumblr media
pairing park sunghoon + fem!reader.
genre frenemies, tension, suggestive.
summary working undercover at the same event as park sunghoon gets you riled up enough, but it makes it even worse when he tries to sabotage you in the worse way possible.
word count 1.1k
warnings sunghoon is an ass and is really touchy, drug mentions.
an the new you love is still shocking to me
Tumblr media
"Your target is Oh Seolhyun, CEO of Dawn Corporations. She's been up to some pretty shady shit, using her company building as some drug cartel. Heaps of cocaine, marijuana, heroine- you name it, she's probably selling it." Your assistant's voice buzzes through your ear piece, reminding you of the main aim of your mission.
You make your way into the event's primary room, filled with hundreds of people wearing expensive jewellery and appropriate attire that you would likely be unable to fathom the price of.
"You know, you don't speak very professionally when you're explaining these things to me." You whisper under your breath, eyeing around to make sure no one had been watching you.
Unhappily, you pull at the edge of your tight red dress as it begins to bunch up, trying your best not to itch at your neck as the carnelian necklace lays heavy. You roll your eyes when an older man looks you up and down as you walk the corridor.
"I don't see the need to, would you rather I acted like we weren't friends? I feel like you need a sweet, familiar voice considering Park will be prowling around looking for his next meal- which will be you." Minho replies and you can see his stupid smirk in your head.
To say you and Park Sunghoon had a strange past would be a severe understatement. After an horrific first (and last) date, the two of you decided you could never like each other even as friends and parted ways.
However, as the universe has to ruin your life you a slight bit every couple of months, Sunghoon ended up being part of another company similar to yours, where you weren't exactly enemies but weren't friends either — having the same objectives, but wanting your own recognition without the other.
They loved to put you in the same room as him and you're sure Minho had some input.
"That freak of a man won't be putting his hands anywhere near me, I've got better things to focus on. Can you stop distracting me now?" You growl, then reaching the archway that leads to the main hall.
"Getting all hot and bothered thinking about him?" You decide to ignore him, walking out into the crowd without a reply. He chuckles, moving on from bothering you, "Oh Seolhyun should be wandering around, talking with clients. All you need to do is get on her good side so we can eventually get some solid proof and get Dawn shut down."
You nod to yourself, keeping a keen eye on everyone in the room. Most appear just as cautious as you, eyes moving between people everywhere. If this wasn't suspicious, you aren't sure what else would be.
Just to make matters worse, Sunghoon is scouting around in a well fit tuxedo with a dark red tie and a carnelian bracelet; exactly the same colour as your dress and necklace.
"You have got to be fucking kidding me." You groan, hands flying to your face in distress at this new information. Angrily, you hang onto the bridge of your nose before moving on around the room to try and avoid the gaze of Sunghoon, you wanted to pass this day without having to talk to him.
Eventually, your eyes land on your target. She stands with a flowing dark blue dress, dyed blonde hair falling curled over her shoulders. Her eyes stay sultry as she talks with an older man, hand coming up her body to play with the ends of her hair.
"God, no wonder her company is so successful. Pervs everywhere, should have worn a longer dress." Your words are directed at yourself after developing a habit of forgetting Minho is right in your earhole and is listening to every word you're saying.
"Yeah, sorry about the dress. I tried to get a longer one." Minho speaks, making you jump slightly at the sound of his voice, "The Sunghoon match was not intentional."
Choosing to ignore him (because you don't believe it wasn't intentional for a second), you come to the conclusion you have to start getting closer to Seolhyun soon; but nothing can ever be easy.
"Well, don't you look ravishing." Sunghoon's smooth, but irritating, voice speaks in a hush tone next to your ear as he stands behind you, one hand resting softly on your waist, "I might just forget about the mission all together with you around, all matchy matchy with me."
"Hands off, Park. You should keep your eyes on her, not me." You nod your head towards your common target, trying your hardest to pretend there is a lack of tingling and heat where Sunghoon's hand pressed on you.
You allow yourself to let out a deep yet timid breath when he finally pulls himself away from your body. Angrily, you turn around and come face to face with his annoyingly gorgeous face. He smirks, eyes trailing up your body, stopping at your neck for a second before landing on your face.
In embarrassment, you turn off your ear piece so Minho can't tease you later.
"We could just forget about the whole mission for a few minutes, you're looking too pretty to let go." He states, his eyes filled with only lust, you push him back with your hands on his chest to prevent him from getting closer to you, as if he could.
"You have no decency do you? You'd kill to get your hands on me, and I still wouldn't let you." You snap, eyes glaring right through him, but he only laughs at your strong attempt of intimidation and murmurs 'cute' under his breath.
"I wouldn't be so sure of that, sweetheart." He's leaning into you again, a hand on your back, and you dislike how you don't feel urge to push him away, wanting to relish in the moment instead, "You're letting me do it right now, aren't you? If I wanted, I could pull you out of here, take you on a nice date then fuck you like I should have all that time ago."
"Don't you think your time has passed? Bet you could barely get me to cum." You surprise yourself with your response, becoming increasingly glad you had disconnected your earpiece. Sunghoon seemed to have this effect on you.
"If you give me the chance, I'll have your eyes rolling back and your legs shaking, won't even want to leave because I'd treat you so, so well." He emphasises, eyes darkening. When his hand drops lower to grope you, it's where you come to your senses and remember where you are and what you were doing.
“You’ll have to try a lot harder than that.” You respond, dragging yourself away from him and going ahead with your mission, wanting to ignore the want in your body.

NEW YOU, JAKE SIM.

word count 10.7k (unedited).
warnings i’m sorry for the beomgyu slander 😔, jake refers to reader as princess as much as he can really, suicide mentions, family toxicity, NSFW MINORS DNI!!! (fingering fem!receiving, handjob, oral male!receiving, unprotected sex, light choking), death mentions.
an tis here!! took me awhile but i always prevail. ty for all the support <3
Tumblr media
Royalty never lived up to the expectations that outsiders had anticipated. None of the money, gowns and experiences would live up to what those people would always have — complete freedom.
They could travel whenever they desired, do what activities they desired, be with who they desired; ultimately being who they wanted to be. You were stuck on the inside of a kingdom, and despite its tremendous size, it could never live up to the feeling of adventuring outside of the castle walls.
You had been unsure what you had done wrong to deserve something so terrible, but you had been enforced into a marriage that you would never agree to. In fact, they were so enthralled by this marriage, that you were not allowed to leave the premises so you couldn't meet anyone else until you had fallen in love.
Though, you don't think anyone could fall in love with Choi Beomgyu. He was idiotic, vain, rude and every other possible negative adjective you could think of. Even those who matched his asininity would barely be able to cope in his presence.
However, you sense you're the only one who doesn't fall for his 'charms' since everyone else seems to fawn over him whenever he appeared. Of course, you had to be the one who would in be betrothed to him in the end.
You had simply had enough.
As it was, you weren't a fan of your life before the marriage had been finalised. You weren't suited to the position of a queen nor did you want to follow that lifestyle. All that you wanted was the opportunity to be free.
What could be any better than making a plan to run away?
This was probably the fifth ball you had attended this month; you weren't sure why they had them so much, because they all had the same step-by-step procedure as if it was some form of experiment.
You would watch as your parents made their way around, greeting the same people, the same way, as if they hadn't seen each other a week ago. It was comedy-worthy how absolutely fake every single person here had been.
Within minutes of being there, you had already made your way over to the buffet table where your only friend, Julia, had been encouraged (practically scolded by your mother) to stand.
Her mother had been your babysitter as a child since it was rare your parents would find the time to actually spend any moments with you. Julia was the same age, so had grew up alongside you. It was interesting how opposite both of your lives had turned out to be despite being brought up by the same person, just with different blood.
"God, this is just as boring as I'd imagine it to be. Look at them all, it's like a food chain. I'm shocked nobody had cracked yet." You stand next to her, avoiding the gaze of everybody else in the room as you usually would.
"You shouldn't speak that way, you never know who is listening in." Julia had always been nervous when it came to your public conversation, considering she'd likely receive more of a punishment then you would, however, she leans into you more, "I would have to agree though. I could not point out a singular person who genuinely looks interested in their conversation."
"I mean, look at that herd of girls over there. They've been squawking with each other all evening, but I definitely saw Emily pointing fingers at Destiny last week." You nod your head towards the group that stood near the entrance, all chatting with one another as if they wouldn't talk behind each other's backs any other time of day.
Your eyes shift along, expecting to find another group of people to roll your eyes at, instead encountering quite a surprise. There's a servant that you don't quite recognise; brown shaggy hair, the same familiar white uniform that appears to be loose fitting, but seems to still look just right.
Surely, you think, you would have remembered someone like him.
"Julia, do you recognise him? I'm not quite sure he's ever been here before." You ask, she looks in your direction with furrowed brows as she takes in the man that you're looking at. She squints her eyes, thinking, then shakes her head.
He hadn't done anything to imply he was up to something suspicious, but you had a strange feeling about him. Feeling entranced by him, you try to think of a normal excuse so that you could speak with him — but your parents get to you first.
"Darling! Where have you been? We have been looking for you everywhere!" She beams at you, rather fabricated considering her eyes seem to be filled with annoyance since you had been staying distant from her the entire ball.
Unfortunately for you, Beomgyu slides into the conversation with his horrifically flirtatious smile that only forms disgust in your mind. He takes your hand, placing a kiss on it; Julia stifles a laugh when you side-eye her.
"It's nice to see you again, my love." He smirks at you, your mother almost clapping her hands in excitement as she watches, "Care to dance?"
Your mind searches for any excuse to refuse his offer, but your mother's fiery gaze barely gives you the option to think. You hate to be like everyone else in the room, but you give your best smile and place your hand into his.
Considering this would be your last time making your mother happy, you may as well allow it to happen.
The moment you reach your bedroom, you fall into your bed with a long groan. To be expected, the dress and makeup had taken at least an hour to remove, reaching almost one AM by the time you were in your chamber.
Minutes later, Julia wanders in her room for her 'nightly duties' — gossiping with you after a exhausting day. She conforms to you, jumping on your bed as you had.
"You look worn out- well, I'm not surprised after that." When she says that, you know she's referring to the excruciating dance that you had the dishonour (to yourself) of taking part in, "How was that enchanting dance?"
"I'm not sure if he was nervous or it was just natural, but his hands were incredibly sweaty! Normally I wouldn't judge, but surely you wouldn't hold someone's hand for that long when they're practically slipping off." Julia bursts into laughter at your response, tears spilling from her eyes.
You're going to miss Julia. In honesty, she was the only person that could keep you here and you wish you could take her with you. It would be too dangerous and risky, so you would have to give her the best.
"Julia... I was hoping you could help me with something." You take your bottom lip between your teeth and she looks at you expectingly, eyes boring into yours, "I'm really not sure how you will take this thought of mine, but it's truly what I think will be the best. I want to leave, and go far way."
Her mouth opens, no words to be spoken but it is clear she has many things to say.
"I know I should have mentioned my feelings to you earlier, and I am sorry for my selfishness. This is something I need, and I want your help, if you could." You look at her with hope, praying that there was something that she could do for you.
She sighs.
"I know a way that you'll be able to leave, quite easily." She states, she watches as your eyes light up and you become more absorbed in the conversation, "I know that they don't allow you to go into the basement of the castle. It's because there's a passageway through and door that leads through to the outside. It hasn't been used in many years."
In your mind, you recall every time someone had tensed up or began stuttering over their words whenever you got too close to that basement door. It was as if they knew that you had been planning to do something drastic, such as running away.
"How on earth would I get there if they're so cautious about me going in? It doesn't sound too wise." You sit up from your previous position, walking over to your wooden desk to take a seat. Allowing your head to fall into your hands, you question whether this was possible.
"Well... At particular times of the day, the guards leave their stations. Usually during your late dinners, actually- and around 4AM in the morning when they begin preparing for you to awake. If you can get out of the diner tonight, I'll show you." She whispers under her breath at you, just in case anyone had been deciding to listen in at the wrong time.
You have never hugged someone as tightly as you had with Julia. Within minutes, you had gone from having zero idea of how to get to your own paradise to having a knight in shining armour that so happened to be your best friend.
Tumblr media
The dinners with your family were the worst part of being a royal; you had to spend an extended amount of time with them. Despite being your blood, they never felt like they were. Realistically, they likely didn't care for you that much, you were created for an alliance.
Even if it hadn't been explicitly stated, there was no doubts that it was the reality.
If you had to admit anything, the dining hall was gorgeous. The walls are as tall as can be, painted portraits and landscapes scattering every wall. Candles are sporadically placed around the room, as well as in the large hanging chandelier.
However, the gigantic table in the centre just made the dinners much more awkward.
"I see you talked with Prince Beomgyu at the last ball. I'm glad the two of you are getting along well." Your father speaks up for the first time during your dinner and to no surprise, it's involving mentions of your 'future' marriage partner.
"Barely..." You mumble under your breath, just loud enough for them to be able to hear, but low enough that they were unable to tell it was intentional.
You needed a reason to be able to leave, since they would never allow you to go to your room when you wanted to. On many occasions, you remember how whenever you argued or became upset, they would just let you to leave so they would't have to acknowledge the needed confrontation.
"Why can't you just be kind to him? He has done nothing but treat you right and you have hardly said one word to him." Your mother places her cutlery down and glares at you, as if you were someone she had become enemies with.
Just one more day.
"Me and all the other women he has been trying to court. I'm going to bed, I'm not hungry anymore." You retort back, standing up and storming your way out of the room. As expected, they don't follow you or say a word.
Quickly, you walk back to your room to see Julia already waiting inside for you, "We have to move fast. We have enough time but I'd rather we get in and out so we don't get caught, if all goes well, you could get out tonight." Julia grins with mixed emotion; ecstatic you're finally getting what you deserve, upset that she'll likely never see you again.
"I don't think I could ever thank you enough, I love you, Julia." You want to give her another tight hug, but there is not enough time in the day. Instead, she pulls you along to take you to the sacred basement floor.
Your heart thumps harshly in your chest as you stand in front of the door. Julia pushes it open slowly to avoid loud creaks and squeaks.
As slow as you can, you walk down the stone stairs that lead down to the basement. It is barely lit, just bright enough to be able to see where you are placing your feet on the stairs. Eventually, you reach a dingy room that is filled with miscellaneous items.
"I... don't see a door anywhere." Your eyebrows furrow as you walk around the room, squinting through the darkness in order to try and find this supposed door. In fact, you don't think you can see any other way out of the basement apart from the door you had entered from.
"It's hidden for a reason, look here." Julia remarks, you turn around to look at where she is standing. She taps her foot onto a particular area of the floor, which appears to sound more hollow than the rest of it.
The floor isn't easy to see, so you get onto your knees in order to touch around, feeling how the stone flooring feels like wood instead. With a large grin, you stand up and hug Julia one last time.
"You go back to your room now so that they don't see you down here, I can think of an excuse for myself if anything happens. It's already unlocked and goes straight out." She pulls back, her hand resting on your cheek, "If this is the last I see of you, I appreciate everything you've done for me. You're my closest friend and I hope I'll get to see you again in the future, much happier than you are now."
When your eyes begin to fill with water, you make your way back up the stairs and towards your bedroom and attempting to look as innocent as possible. Patiently, you watch the hours on the clock go by.
You begin to feel like the moment isn't real; not when it reaches 3AM and your hands are shaking against your door handle. The large door feels more intimidating than usual, as if it had started to grow along with your draining anxiety throughout the waiting process.
Hastily, you move through the many corridors without giving another thought because you may just second guess yourself and decide this was not your smartest idea.
As Julia has reassured you, you didn't bump into any of the royal guards — you realise they aren't the greatest, since they appeared to be nowhere in sight. You likely could have done this months ago when you began considering the idea.
This is the quietest you had ever heard the expanse of the castle to be, if it had been this way all the time, you would have liked it more. Instead, you were stuck with the family talking your ears off every second like nails on a chalk board.
You reach the basement, feeling around on the floor until you find the door again. A proud smile appears on your face when you feel the handle, though as you're pulling it up, someone or something on the other side seems to be opening it too.
"Huh?" You gasp out, almost flinging backwards when the door opens at lightening speed, revealing a very familiar face, "It's you!"
You remember him perfectly, his face was hard to forget. Opposed to his clean appearance when you had seen him at the ball, he looks muckier and he definitely wasn't wearing royal attire this time.
"Who the hell are you?" His expression displays confusion and his voice is almost aggressive, as if he isn't the one coming in from the outside; despite the tone, the thick accent that is diversely different from your own sticks out to you clearly. No one in the area sounded as he did.
"Me? Why on earth are you sneaking into the castle? Do you have a death wish?" You whisper-shout at him, mirroring his distress towards you. He doesn't respond, looking just as baffled as you are, "How long have you been doing this for? God, the security here is dreadful."
Suspecting you had been too loud because the man before you interrupted the original plan, as you had likely done to him, the sound of feet thundering above you caused your stomach to drop and your body to freeze up.
"Shit, shit, shit!" His eyes widen and he examines the room, biting his bottom lip when he can't think of anything. He sighs and puts his attention back on you, "Whatever you're doing, make your decision now or you're dead meat. You're lucky I'm in a good mood today."
He holds his hand out towards you, urging you to take it so he can help you down into the pathways below you. After a mere thought of going back and the sound of banging on the basement door, you close your eyes and take his hand into yours.
The path becomes a blur the faster he pulls you through, but you feel a weight lift of your shoulders the further you are away from that door. Finally, you feel the cold breeze of the outside, a simple experience that you had not truly felt in many months.
You don't think you could explain to another human how incredible you felt in the moment, and with the adrenaline pumping through your body you couldn't feel any better.
Eventually, your running comes to a halt when you're dragged into a run-down cottage hidden behind moss, grown out leaves and grass. It's nothing, minuscule, compared to your old home, but you like it.
Funnily, you had almost forgotten about the man who had saved your skin, now panting with his hands on his knees. He stands straight after a minute or so, looking you in your eyes that are as wide as a deers in front of headlights.
"This, uh, this isn't where I live. I just come here when I finish up my business, which you impolitely interrupted. You want to tell me what you were doing? You seemed pretty desperate to get out of there." He walks over to a desk next to the bed, which was on the verge of falling apart, and pulls out a handkerchief from the open draw.
Even though his own face was covered in dirt and sweat, he makes his way over to you and dabs away at whatever had made its way onto yours. Then, he shoves it into his back pocket before stepping back from you.
"I'd much rather know your name first. You know, you don't make yourself appear very trustworthy being so sneaky." You fold your arms over each other, giving him an accusatory look. In return, he just laughs and you look away so you wouldn't feel hypnotised by his smile.
"You're very feisty. I'm Jake, Jaeyun, whatever you want to call me. Now, you." Now knowing his name, you think that it fits him flawlessly; you wouldn't attach any other name to his pretty face.  There is a chair next to the desk which he pulls out to take a seat on, pointing his hand out towards the bed.
You noticed he had a habit of using gestures instead of his words.
"Well Jake, it's nice to meet you." The bed isn't comfy at all, but you know you should appreciate there is even one in front of you in the first place, "I needed to leave, my parents didn't really put me in the best situation, so I took it upon myself to get out of it before it was too late."
"Well, shit. You're the princess aren't you? You're worth a lot of money, you know." When you don't laugh, eyes somehow becoming even wider than they were previously, he shakes his head while he stands to place a hand on your shoulder, "I'm joking, don't look so terrified. The bed won't be up to your standards, but you're free to sleep and we'll figure something out for you in the morning."
"What about you? Mustn't you sleep?" You question, you still feel uncomfortable sitting on the bed, not wanting to attempt to sleep while he is wide awake near you. Not that you didn't trust him, but it only made you feel more awkward.
"I'll be okay. Don't worry, I'm not going to chuck you out while you're sleeping, you can breathe. And don't be so tense, you can trust me, princess." He grins at you, the light from the lantern made him look ethereal, though your heart still beats fast with conflicted feelings.
The conversation ends there, he turns the chair around the face the desk which was opposite the bed. You aren't sure what he is doing, but you feel better with him looking away. Hesitatingly, you find yourself falling into a light sleep, being awoken by the slightest noise.
You don't sleep very well that night.
The pain in your back is hard to ignore, you aren't so used to having such a springy and old bed. For a second, you expect to see Julia opening up the door to your chamber, but you are instead met with Jake walking back through the rusty door.
"Good morning, princess. I brought you some new clothing back, I imagine that cute nightgown of yours isn't so comfortable for the day." Jake holds up some clothing, what your parents would refer to as 'peasant attire'. You can feel your cheeks heat up since you had forgotten you had left wearing your nightgown in a rush.
"Thank you... for the- for the fresh clothing. I appreciate your kindness." Happily, you take the clothing from his hands. They're warm, as if they had been laid in front of a fireplace for a few hours. The new feeling of warmth after having to be used to the cruel, cold cottage brings you joy.
"No worries, sweetheart. I have a proposition for you when you're ready." You reply silently to him, with a nod of the head, then leave to go into what appears to be a bathroom.
In the mirror, you see what the last day had done to you. There's only specs of dirt left on your face, you imagine it had been significantly worse before Jake had cleared it away. Bags under your eyes show clear, causing you to let out a long sigh.
Having to get used to no longer being pampered and cared for anymore was looking harder than you anticipated. You had barely considered the cons of your actions. After a few moments of processing the past day and making yourself appear more presentable, you leave the bathroom to see Jake waiting for you, reading a book.
"I can take you somewhere that's alot safer than here. It's probably not what you want at the moment, but it's probably the best you're going to get for now." Jake places the book down and diverts his eyes to you. His eyes rack over your body, not in a sexual manner, just to examine the fitting of the clothing.
"Could you tell me what you meant by 'business'? I haven't associated myself with those people for a long time, so I won't get you into any trouble. I don't mean to intrude, but you practically know my story." Anxiously, your hands clasp in front of you and you can't bring yourself to look at him in the eyes yet.
"Well, I guess I'll trust you. Me and my family aren't very well off, if you couldn't tell. It's not east to get jobs, and even the boys who do have jobs barely get a penny." He sighs, you begin to feel bad for asking, "Surprisingly, assigned waiters and waitresses get paid enough for us to afford what we need and I'm nimble enough to get in there and fake the job. I wouldn't have done it without Julia."
Your brain short-circuits and your head shoots up to look at Jake. Confused, he looks between you and the wall at the sudden change in body language, waiting for you to speak.
"Julia? You know Julia? We were close and she never mentioned you, she even acted like she didn't know you when I asked. Did she not trust me?" Your eyebrows furrow as you start to question yourself, and everything that you had experienced.
Jake only grins at your concern and shakes his head in disagreement.
"She was always so cautious, I did tell her not to bring this up, I'm sure she was worried of others listening. She helped me- alot. Wouldn't have done any of this without her.” He reassures you, the two of you decide to end this particular conversation there.
Thinking back to his proposition, you collect whatever you have left of your belongings and place them into a straw bag which had been placed next to the bed. Jake nods towards the door with a barely noticeable smile.
The door opens and you wince at the sun burning into your eyes. It radiates through your skin when you take your first step outside. Your hands grip harder onto the bag as you follow behind Jake to your next stop in your journey.
Neither of you take it upon yourself to start conversations. You don't have a problem with him and he has no issues with you, but it's obvious that there was a silent agreement that you would try and help each other and part ways.
At least that was how you had taken the last few hours. This was a new, blooming path for you, and you couldn't allow anyone to hold you back. No matter how much you may start to enjoy Jake's company, he had a family he cared deeply for and you had places you wanted to go.
After an hour or two, stopping off for the occasional rest, you encounter another cottage. Larger than the last, and taken care of. Flowers grow all around in bright colours, the brick the cottage is made out of being painted a gorgeous beige and darkened smoke peering out of the chimney.
After being at awe at how beautiful you found the cottage to be, you then see two younger boys tending to a garden filled with various fruits and vegetables. They look up, confused by your presence, but their faces light up once they see Jake.
"Jae, You're back! We were starting to get a little worried about you." They both come running towards Jake, diving into his arms as he hugs them closely to his body. You can't help but smile at the love for each other that beams from them — you almost begin to feel jealous.
"I have a come back rate of 100%, I'm invincible at this point, Won." Jake places light kisses on the top of their heads, and then their attention lands on the elephant in the room, you, "Yeah, uh, this is a recent friend of mine."
Once you give your name to his brothers, they seem to put the puzzle pieces together. The taller ones jaw drops while the other's eyebrows fall into anger.
"Sim Jaeyun what the hell have you gotten yourself into! Heeseung is going to be furious!"
Heeseung was in fact furious.
The eldest had spent about twenty minutes stalking around the cottage's main room rebuking Jake for doing something so impulsive, like allowing the runaway princess to take refuge in their home without speaking with the rest of them.
You almost stood up to leave them alone due to feeling rude and awkward, but Jake and his brother’s Jongseong and Riki were adamant on letting you stay since you had nowhere else to go. Somehow, they convinced the rest of them.

Over the month you had been living with the seven boys, something in your mind had switched. In such a short amount of time, all of them had become prominent figures in your life and it felt like you had been there forever.
One thing that you couldn't push through was the different between how you felt about Jake compared to the rest of his brothers. The touches between you both always lingered longer and you would always notice the way he would watch you while Jungwon taught you how to correctly tend to the garden.
It was a quiet day, most of the boys were tired and taking the hours to rest, most of them sleeping apart from Sunoo who silently read a book at the dining table, and you who had been sowing away to a shirt Sunghoon had accidentally ripped.
The constant silence, apart from the sound of pages turning and the fire crackling, was broken by a loud yawn as Jake opens his bedroom door. Sunoo doesn't spare him a glance, but you look up from your needle and thread to give the man a sweet smile.
"Good morning- well, afternoon, princess." He beams, making his way over to you. Both of his hands lay on either side of your shoulders and it takes everything in you not to tense up at the sudden touch.
"What did I say about calling me princess, Jaeyun?" You murmur, still trying to concentrate on the shirt in front of you. Jake's head is now placed upon yours, and you wonder if he's trying to or is blissfully unaware that he's flustering you to the highest degree.
"That I should stop calling you princess- but it suits you so well! And I think you should keep calling me Jaeyun, I like it." He replies, you roll your eyes and give up with your task. Jake moves away from you, so you turn around in your chair to face him.
"I'll think about it." You smirk at him, he opts to sit next to you and lay his head onto the table as if he had still been tired, "I thought you would be sleeping all day."
"Well... I was wondering if you wanted to take a ride in our sailing boat. I could teach you how to use it. It's too warm for me to sleep." He responds, his head being hidden in his arms consequently leaves you unable to see the pink shade that spreads across his cheeks.
"That would be nice, I've always wanted go ride in a boat- my parents never let me do anything." Finishing up, you finally stand from the chair to stretch your legs, cracking your fingers due to the ache in them.
"You can do anything that you want now. They'll always be looking for you, but we can get you far enough that they won't be able to find you." Jake purses his lips, looking away from you before continuing, "Though you’re always welcome to stay here."
"You know that I can't." You hadn't meant to sound so cold.
Jake becomes more and more despondent every time you reject his offer of staying with him. The others boys had grown fond of you, just as he had, you were safe and free from the sickening hold of your biological family.
Alas, you wanted excitement over tranquility.
The lake behind the house could have been the most perfect sight. Somehow, the water had stayed as clean as it could be, you could see the bottom of the shallow areas. What you liked the most was the natural decoration of trees and flowers, moments like this could convince you to stay.
As expected, the boat is still attached to the pier. It was rare they ever used it, often just fishing from the pier itself, but the warm day warranted a little change.
You and Jake walk side by side in a comfortable silence, something the two of you had grew to enjoy. Over years, you had gotten used to constantly being surrounded by noise that the serenity of the cottage on rest days felt strange — you never got rest days.
At first, any kind of silence was uncomfortable, though you hardly realised it had become pleasant.
Jake gets into the boat, holding out his hand to carefully help you in. He leans over to reach for the oars, and you take a seat across from him, "How am I supposed to teach you from all the way over there?"
"Where else am I supposed to go?" You raise an eyebrow at him. He shows off a flirtatious smirk and pats the little area that is left in front of him.
Jake did a brilliant job at making you frantic; you'd never experienced a relationship such as this, apart from Beomgyu, who you would rather never hear of again.
Slowly, you take your seat in front of him, back pressed snugly against his warm chest.
"Hold tight, I'll hold my hands over yours and show you how to do it properly." The two of you seem to be holding hands a lot lately. He tries to hold your hands as daintily as he could to ensure his tight grip wouldn't hurt you, and begins to row, "You're a natural."
"I guess I'm simply just good at everything." You joke, and you finally let the stiffness in your body go, moving with your thoughts to distract yourself, "I wonder how Julia is doing... I feel awful for having to leave her."
You had worried for Julia every single day. There had been no news, at least not that the boys had heard of yet; by now, you expected a large-scale search where guards and soldier would be loitering around every corner, but not one had been seen in the area. You wondered if she was safe.
"You had no choice. I'll always wish her the best, she really did everything she could for me, for us. We had a real hard time last year." He replies, staring off into the distance as he continues to row the boat, you're barely putting in any effort.
"If you don't mind me asking, what happened? Whenever it seems to come in to conversation, everyone gets quiet and moves on." You ask, almost hesitantly.
Parts of you disliked that you allowed your curiosity to get the best of you. It wasn't your business, and a topic they had been evading conversation about since it happened. Though you cared about them, and want to take care of them.
"We were really struggling, the worst it had been. It was like everything that could go wrong, was going wrong. We had no food and we were freezing. There was a lot of pressure on all of us, and I guess Hoon just couldn't take it anymore. I had to jump in to pull him out of the water and I can still remember how hard he had sobbed in my arms."
"Oh Jake, I'm so sorry. None of you deserved that kind of life, you're all so loving and kind. I'm glad you all had each other, I can't imagine what you've been through." At some point, you had moved to turn your body around to face him. You had never been so close to his face before, yet it felt so familiar.
"Without Julia I'm not sure we'd still be here, so fucking up the system was our best choice. I guess I would never have met you either if I never went through with it- and I sure would have regretted that." He grins, and you can't help but return it.
"All of you are so strong, you're amazing, Jaeyun." You remind him, and hope this will be something he and his brothers will always know.
There are continuous shifts in the air whenever you are left together, as if every moment brings you so much closer, but formed a theory that there wasn't a moment where you hadn't known Jake Sim, like he was everlasting in your life.
It’s cut short when Riki comes running down from the cottage, almost tripping over his own feet. His face isn't entirely visible from the length away, but your stomach drops as you sense something is wrong. Just minutes ago, he was fast asleep.
As fast as possible, Jake rows himself back to the pier where Riki is stood, taking deep breaths. He appears bothered by something, and his concerned attention seems to be on you the whole time.
"You guys- you're going to end up in big trouble. Jesus, some guards just turned up at the door, pretty much just as you reached the pier. They didn't recognise you from so far away, we told them that you were going far out and couldn't come back, but they said they'll come back later to talk to you."
You are so, so scared; you can feel your body begin to shake as what you had been anticipating finally happens. It had been so long, that you had started to consider the idea that they swiftly moved on from you. Unfortunately, it could never be so easy.
It didn't take long for you to start sobbing, the original feeling of shock and fear subsiding into anxiety and sadness. Jay has you wrapped in his arms as you shake, everyone has seated themselves down apart from Jake, who aggressively wanders around the room.
"Jaeyun, stand still. You're just making her feel even worse shuffling around the room like that." Heeseung glares at his younger brother, standing up from his seat to walk towards him.
"Yeah? Well what else am I supposed to do? I don't know what the fuck to do!" Jake shouts, not so loud, yet it still makes you jump enough that Jay holds you ever so slightly tighter. Looking over, Jake and Heeseung are standing face to face.
"Stop shouting at me and get your goddamn act together, she needs us, she needs you. You want to help her? Then we need to talk and figure out where we go from here." Heeseung snarls at Jake, who lets out a frustrated groan and nods his head.
This was the first time you had seen them truly upset with each other. It's due to one of your own problems too, which makes you feel entirely responsible even if you hadn't intended to.
"I have to leave."
All of their eyes divert to your direction, even Jay draws back from you a little. They all share the same expression, one you can't quite read in detail, but they are shocked by your statement.
"What? No, no, where on earth would you go? We can figure this out. Don't go until you're ready to move on." Sunghoon states, his thick eyebrows beginning to furrow in concern.
"If I'm not gone by the time they get back, I'm not sure what they would do to you all if they knew I was here. I could never put you all at risky like that- and I would dread to think about the things they would do to me too."
"Are you sure?" Jungwon mumbles begrudgingly, frowning at the thought of you leaving them all. He had grown closest to you, other than Jake, and even though he would never admit it to anyone, he had grown rather attached to your presence.
Simply, you nod your head and hold your bottom lip between your teeth to attempt to avoid any more tears. Sunghoon was right to make a comment on you being ready, because you were far from so.
"I'll come with you." Jake's voice causes you to look at him again, eyes wide and lost. He appears so sure of himself, "I'll get you somewhere far enough that's safe. I can't stay with you, but I can offer as much help as possible. None of us want you out alone."
After a serious talk, heartbreaking goodbyes and reassurance that you will always have a place to be, you and Jake are on your way. He reminds you of another cottage not so long away that the two of you can stop at for the night, similarly to when you had first met.
Jake had been carrying a leather, worn-down rucksack that was filled with miscellaneous items that would keep you going and had been profusely refusing your offers to carry it for a little to give him a break.
There's a constant guilt riding through your body with every moment, and Jake is able to tell, he seems to know you well enough now. He spends his time telling you stories of his youth, his current years, his brothers; beautiful moments to tell you that this is momentary, and all will be well soon enough.
An hour or two walk leads you to the cottage, and it's far from pretty. In fact, you think some of the roof is missing and some of the windows are smashed up. Not the ideal place to stay, but it'll work for now.
"Here, take this, you're freezing." He offers up his jacket, more so forcing it into your hands. He's cold too, but he'd rather be the one to get sick.
"Why are there so many abandoned cottages around here? It's such a waste..." You question after sitting down at a wooden desk chair, your legs recovering from the long walk.
"People like to move around, they'll just up and leave, go to the next town or whatever it is they're doing. Their old homes just get forgotten about, I guess." He shrugs, he's used to them being around, while you were thinking about how lovely it would be to renovate.
It wasn't difficult for you to fall asleep, so exhausted that all it took was closing your eyes.
You never had nightmares; not until tonight.
Everyone you had come to know was there, complaining about how you were an awful friend, daughter, partner, princess. Hearing sharp words from your family was something you had become desensitised to, but Julia and Jake broke your heart.
Jake sees you shuffling in your sleep, making small noises, a concerned expression across your face. He pouts from where he sits, gathering that you were having a bad dream.
Quietly, he makes his way over to you and sits on the opposite side of the bed. He finds himself studying your sleepy face, you were always bright and ignoring a few minor occasions, he never really saw you upset.
He leans forward and pushes a strand of hair behind your ear, he ponders whether he should wake you up, but you're faster than him, shooting up as you frantically look around the room.
"Hey, woah! Breathe princess, you're okay, you're safe." Jake speaks so softly that the tension in your body dissipates immediately, your hand wraps around his for additional comfort and you look him in the eyes.
It feels right.
Jake's free hand moved upwards to rest on your cheek, you nuzzle into his hand happily and close your eyes. A few seconds pass, you decide to look back at Jake, who you hope is feeling just as you do.
When his thumb faintly rubs against your bottom lip, it was as if the subconscious block that had been holding you back snaps. Neither of you are sure who leaned in first, but it didn't matter.
His lips slot perfectly on yours; just like his hands, his arms, every fibre of his being. You feel slightly hesitant due to your lack in experience, though the softness of how Jake holds you tells you everything will be just fine.
He caresses your waist line as his tongue slips into your mouth, and you're sure you could kiss Jake's lips forever. In comparison, you’re gripping onto Jake for dear life, taking an awfully deep breath when you part from each other.
“I’m always going to keep you safe, you and the boys, you are my life. I’ll protect you even if it kills me.” He whispers against your lips, and a stray tear slips down your cheek as you both stay with each other, forgetting about your problems just for a moment.
Tumblr media
You hadn't been to another town before since you were a small child, being isolated away from others for such a long time. It's so lively and full of happy people, it makes you think about how quiet it had been at your old home as everyone in town had generally kept to themselves.
"Anywhere you want to go?" Jake asks, his hand still gripping yours tightly. Neither of you decided to mention the previous night, but you both have refused to let go of each other since you fell asleep, and Jake was feeling nauseated at the thought of you getting lost.
You had to admit to being anxious; there was always the chance that someone would recognise you even if they hadn't seen you since you were much younger. Not everyone was a good person, you would end up back at square one.
"I think I'd like to go to the lake, the old lady in the bakery really sold it for me." You hold up the bag that was filled with bread and sweet treats (you had to convince Jake not to steal any of them because the lady was so kind and you had enough money), "It's getting a little late, so I wouldn't mind going to the lake for a little while and then going to the inn."
The sky is filled with vibrant variations of pinks, oranges and yellows as the sun begins to set. It shines beautifully onto the lake as you and Jake walk along the path, content as you both munch on bread and laugh with each other.
Time passes so fast that you don't even realise how long you have been wandering around for, the dark skies soon tiring you out. Your eyes feel heavy, so you suggest going to the inn.
"You are a lovely couple, how long have you been together?" The woman behind the counter asks, grinning at your closeness as she takes the money from Jake's hands.
"Our whole lives, miss." Jake says, as if it has been a normal everyday saying. Of course, you become embarrassed and hide behind Jake's arm and the elderly woman coos at you as she passes along the key.
The air feels strange once you and Jake are laid in the bed together. Even though you are so far apart from one another, it's like the heat of his body is still reflecting onto yours. Whatever you feel in your body, you know it is unfamiliar to you.
You bite your bottom lip in hesitance. Taking a deep breath, you turn around to face Jake. To your surprise, he had already been facing you with his eyes open, watching you.
"You can't sleep either?" He asks, his voice becoming raspy from the lack of speaking. Even though the room is so dark, he manages to look just as gorgeous as usual, even with such tired eyes.
"I'm thinking." You reply quietly, Jake nudges further so that he is closer to you.
"What are you thinking about?" He takes his hand, moving a stray hair behind your ear, hand now resting softly on your cheek.
When you don't answer, Jake's hand is quick to travel to the back of your head as he slams his own lips against yours. Your own hand makes its way into his hair, tugging lightly as your body shakes in anticipation when he lets out a low groan against you.
You clamber onto his lap, wanting to feel as close to him as was humanly possible. The emotions and hormones running through your body became so overwhelming that you could only let out whiny whimpers on his mouth.
His hand moves between your thighs, playing with your little clit in excitement, allowing you to grind against his veiny hand. He messes with you through your underwear, soon moving it to the side with a long groan. A long string of saliva links the two of you, Jake's jaw dropping as he looks at you.
"Didn't take you long to get so wet, you wanted me for that long, honey?" His voice drops octaves, his irises filled with a concept you could hardly comprehend; but you have never felt so much pleasure, "Can't believe I waited this long to see how pretty you look withering on top of me."
"Jake!" You grip at his arm, nails practically digging into his skin, hips moving faster and faster as you feel the intense butterflies in your stomach. Tears brim your eyes as you experience the new feeling, almost bursting as your slick covers Jake's hand.
He can barely take in the situation himself. He's hardly done anything and your eyes are already welling up and he just knows drool is going to start dripping from your swollen lips soon enough. Jake pulls his fingers out of you and licks them clean.
"Off, too hot. Yours too." You start to pull at Jake's shirt, he rips your nightgown from your body, leaving you with the thin material of your underwear. Before you could think, his arm wrapped around your back to pull you into him, taking your left breast into his mouth.
His other hand reaches to wrap perfectly around the other, harshly nipping to get a squeal out of you, he slots himself comfortably between your legs, pressing you against his hardening cock. The man underneath you bites his lip hard, lifting up his hips into your core.
"Fuck, fuck baby, just like that." His eyes and hands are still concentrated on your chest, completely hypnotised by their feel and appearance. Jake is absolutely enamoured, and you're already cock-drunk before he's even gotten inside of you.
But it still just isn't enough.
When you lift yourself up and reach down to palm his length through his pants, Jake is sure his eyes roll to the back of his head. He could feel
the fire emits from you, from inside you, from every touch you gifted to his body. You're so desperate, and he's ready to give you anything you desire.
"Can I..." You whimper out, reaching over to the low waistband of his pants. Looking at your face, Jake doesn't want to rip his eyes away. Your own eyes are blown out and your pretty skin is begin to sweat, your hair managing to fall flawlessly in place like you weren't jumping his bones.
"You can do anything you want to me, baby. I'm all yours." He whispers into your ear, nibbling slightly at the lobe. Swiftly, you finally pull at his pants and he lifts up so that you can remove them completely.
It stands tall, wet and red, you can't help but wrap your hands around it. However, not wanting to make a mistake, you give him your best doe eyes to ask for help.
"It's okay, princess. Just move your hand up and down, just like that- fuck." You move your hand up and down slowly, keeping eye contact with Jake, whose eyes are beginning to close from the building pleasure, "Such a good girl f’me.”
Suddenly, you're sliding yourself down his body, your face against his chest as your back arches deliciously. Your tongue lands directly on the slit of his tip, Jake moans loudly and grips onto your hair.
He tried his best not to buck his hips upwards, though he gets even more turned on at your inherent skill to take him in your mouth with ease, the tiny tears in your eyes only make him even more feral.
Your smaller hands are moving nicely on his cock along with your gummy mouth and just the sight of you has him on the edge; a lethal combination. Not wanting to let go just yet, he gently lifts you from him with a dazed smile at your sudden concerned face.
"It's okay, baby- you're doing so, so well for me. Just want us to be able to cum at the same time, hm?" He's quick to model you into the position he wants, you on your back facing him, legs over his shoulders so he can see your fucked out, cute face, “Tell me when you want me to move, okay?”
Then, he pushes himself into you.
You expected it to sting at first, your nails digging and scratching against Jake who just takes it. He waits, albeit the ache he feels in his stomach, until you give him the green light to start moving.
"Go, please." You squeak out, and he does as his lady requests. Still hurting ever so slightly, but with every move comes a larger wave of pleasure. He's almost sure he'll have to slap a hand over your mouth or kiss you so you don't get kicked out, "Oh my god!"
"So fucking tight. My pretty girl, all this for me." Jake stutters out against your neck, sucking at it while your hand rummage around his body, his hair, dragging your nails against his back as he ravages you.
Embarrassment fills you as Jake examines your face and body below him. You try to turn your head, but he immediately raises his hand to grab you by the chin and force you to look back, then his hand makes its way right around your throat in a light choke, "Look at me, honey."
It’s such an intimate moment, both of you finally together as one, only seeing each other and nothing else in the world. He’s holding your cheek while his other hand wraps around your throat and you’re all other the place.
You reach your peak, convulsing so hard and desperate. Jake’s eyebrows furrow harder, hips faltering as he climaxes too, you feel the spurts fill you to the brim, close to bringing another orgasm out of you.
Ears ringing, he lies on top of you though trying his best not to put all of his weight down on your current fragile body. He strokes the top of your head, and you ask him to stay inside of you until you fall asleep.
Tumblr media
The alarm of the bright sun shining through the sheer white curtains has you waking up as soon as it hits your skin. You grab the sheets and hike them up your body, still naked after immediately passing out last night. However, it seems like Jake had cleaned you up before you awoke, no longer covered in sweat and cum.
Eyes closing again, you turn your body around and feel onto the other side of the bed for your lover, but only gripping onto empty sheets. You furrow your eyebrows and pout your lips, sitting up and looking around the room.
There is light sparkling from the gap under the bathroom door, you make the assumption he mist be in there, "Jaeyun? Are you in the bathroom?"
After a second or two, the door opens and there stands a half naked Jake, his lean torso and shoulders on full display for you. He grins as his eyes scan down your bare body, spending significantly more time on your tits.
"Now what a lovely sight this is first thing in the morning." He laughs, pressing soft kisses along the dark splotches on your neck. You roll your eyes with a smile, pushing him away a little so you could pick up your day clothing to get changed, "You could just stay like that for a few more hours, I'm not complaining."
"You're suddenly so perverted, have you been hiding this from me the whole time?" You ask jokingly, leaning against the doorway in all your naked glory. He looks at you like he has never seen anything as perfect, how he just can’t look away from you; the glint in them somehow tells you that it isn’t just lust in his eyes.
He doesn’t answer, shaking his head with a bite of his lip. Closing the bathroom door, you look at yourself in the mirror while you change, noticing the new glow in your skin — you’re sure there is a myriad of reasons why.
There’s a knock on the door to the room. strange, you think, but you imagine it may be someone complaining about the loud noises and squeaks throughout the night, so you finish putting your shirt on.
As your hand lands on the handle, Jake shouts.
“Get your fucking hands off me! She isn’t in here you, assholes! Who the fuck do you think you are?!” He’s angry at whoever was at the door, the mention of a she makes you shake and back away from the door.
You search for a window, anywhere that could get you out — but the thought of leaving Jake out there broke your heart and you would rather get hurt helping him than leaving all alone.
Before you can even come down to a decision between your two options, the bathroom door bursts open, wooden panels and metal flying around the room. You could recognise the clanky soldier attire of your family anywhere, them staring you down with violent glares.
Having nowhere to go, Jake nowhere in sight, your only option is to follow their instructions.
Standing before your parents, hands handcuffed behind your back, may have been the strangest occurrence you had the glory of experiencing in your life. Their angry faces dawned on you that you had royally fucked up and should have thought about being more sneaky instead of trying to live out your romance dreams.
"You are a disgrace to this family." Your mother spits at you, staring right into your eyes with pure disgust, no remorse for what she had done to you your whole life.
"I'm the disgrace? You tried to force your only daughter into a whole marriage with a man she couldn't stand to be around. You never cared about me, I'm only here to carry on your shitty legacy." You watch as your father's lips press into a thin line at your words, his hands rub at the bridge of his nose.
"You're completely delusional. The marriage will go on and that awful man you had stuck yourself to will be hanged for his crimes." His words are like poison venom, your knees bucking in shock.
Jake would be hanged because you had feelings for him, those were the crimes in your family's mind; their biggest fear as they locked you into a marriage destined to be because it was uncontaminated by a non-royal.
"What- no, no, no! Please, please let him go. I'll marry Beomgyu, I'll do anything, just please don't hurt him. He has a family, he did nothing wrong." You beg hard, almost wanting to drop to your knees with praying hands so they would listen to your requests just this singular time.
"We can't let a man of his kind go, they'll simply have to suffer." She dusts off her hands, standing up from her undeserved throne, "Don't think we forgot about how Julia betrayed us too."
"You're all fucking sick, you're sick in the head!" You scream at the top of your lungs, throat burning and your vision becoming unclear as you are dragged away back to your bedroom.
You spend your next few days with puffy eyes, overthinking every moment. It had been the day of your marriage, a day that you would remember forever but for the wrong reasons. Julia and Jake had still been alive since your torturous parents thought it would be a splendid idea for them to watch.
"You look gorgeous, I'm sorry that this day is not going as you desire, I wish this could be much different." Julia's mother had been the woman to adjust your dress. It was easy to see the sadness and distress in her eyes and you could barely imagine how she must be feeling in the moment.
"Thank you. I'm sorry about Julia." You wince as she tightens the corset.
"There isn't much I can do about that anymore. I tried my best, and it only seemed to make things worse." She comes around to your front, smiling so bittersweetly that it hurts you.
No matter how beautiful the reception is, it just appears revolting to you. Especially when you see Beomgyu waiting at the alter for you, everyone smiling at you like you should be happy and Jake and Julia sat right at the front, handcuffed up with guards on either side of them.
Your father holds on to your arm as you walk down the aisle and it makes you want to throw up on the expensive carpet. When you reach the front, you're practically pushed into Beomgyu's arms and the audience, since it's for show, laughs.
You look at Jake and Julia, them both sharing the same facial expression as you had. Seeing Jake in this light broke your heart and if you weren't in such an awful predicament, you would have ran to him.
"Any objections?" The priests asks before he begins and you have to peel your eyes away from Jake who looks like he hasn't slept in days and is on the verge of tears.
"I object!" Everyone's head turns in awe at the disturbance. You have to rub your eyes to make sure you're seeing things correctly because Riki is standing up on top of one of the further back pews, "I think this place has some decoration."
A sizzling sound is heard from the corner of the building; then the whole left side releases a large explosion that causes the building to begin to fall. With no thought, you start to run towards the exit, alerting Jake and Julia to join you, ripping your dress in the process.
Beomgyu latches onto your arm.
"Let go of me. They’re all I have left." You attempt to say sternly, but your voice trembles as you look between him and the exit. This was your last chance and he was trying to take it away from you. You’re struggling to drag yourself away from him- but he just releases you and turns to leave himself.
Jake, Julia and Riki, even Jay who seemed to have appeared out of nowhere, follow suit.
"What the fuck! Where the hell did you get explosives from you psychos!" Jake shouts with an energetic laugh, still running with his hands cuffed — you would have to figure out how to get him out of those once you were all safe.
"I don't know! Sunghoon said he knew some people!" Jay responds, chuckling back at his brother.
You're back at your real home in no time, but you know you'll have to do something about the corrupted royals at some point in time. They could have easily recognised Riki and come back for a less peaceful visit.
"How did you know what was happening?" Julia interrogates the boys, rubbing her wrists to relieve them of the pain from being locked in cuffs for so long.
"They have a weird habit of releasing all information to the public. Heeseung had a feeling that something was wrong and made a visit, luckily was the same day they announced you and had Jake hostage.” Sunoo shrugs, “Sunghoon came back with explosives and still won’t tell us where he got them from.”
"Well, what do we do now?" Jake asks, his arms still holding you protectively. Everyone stays silent, but you know you’ll figure it out together.
Years pass and they never bother you again and you would all laugh that Sunghoon’s mystery explosives must have really made them jump.
Most of the boys had moved on with their lives; Jake found Heeseung and Julia making out in the kitchen one day after a hidden relationship, then the two of them moved out into a new town a little while later to start a family. Jay and Sunghoon found well-paying jobs on travels and would come to visit every moment they could.
The three younger boys stayed back, while you and Jake built up the cottage where you revealed your love for one another to live your own lives.
You smile widely as you examine your growing belly with the new life growing inside of it, Jake watches you lovingly from his desk chair where he writes up his notes for work.
His baby, his pretty girl; you who once stood as royalty lived a simply happy life and Jake finding what he was looking for in the end.
I’d say that deserves a happily ever after.

summary you’re feeling extremely under the weather, and you’re also the only person sunoo can deal with for longer than an hour.

an i don’t usually read anything for sunoo but he’s such a sweet boy and deserves so much more appreciation than he gets :(
Tumblr media
You're sure your body is beginning to overheat at this point. All day, your temperature has been through the roof and you can barely bring yourself to lift your body from your bed.
Dramatically, you had been moving positions every five minutes; lying on your back, sprawling out, curled up into a ball — but none of them were able to subdue the pain that you were feeling.
When you hear a knock on your door, you sigh and wrap yourself deeper into the duvet. Today was not the day for visitors and you had no planned arrivals, so you imagined it was nothing important. The door goes again, though you continue to ignore it due to how weak you were feeling, the aches in your body would only worsen if you decided to stand up.
Then, your phone rings.
"Hello..." Your voice cracks through the phone since you had hardly said a word all day, causing you to cringe at yourself. You hadn't even looked at the called ID, so you had hoped it was someone you were close with.
"Why do you never answer your door? I've been waiting for almost five minutes! Are you okay?" Sunoo's voice makes you feel the slightest bit better immediately, even though he's already judging you through the phone.
"I'm sick. Like- really, really sick. I can barely move, sorry for not coming to the door." You let out a small, rough cough, "You have a key, why didn't you just open the door?"
"I left it at the dorms by accident because Jay and Sunghoon were being idiots. I thought I'd come here since I prefer your company over theirs. You should have told me you were sick, I would have brought some medicine and soup." His voice becomes more concerned after learning about your illness.
You shake your head in response despite the face he was unable to see you.
"I don't want you to get sick, Sun. I would have rather you stayed at the dorms and deal with their shit instead." You reply, standing up from your bed with great persistence as you walk towards your mirror.
Sunoo doesn't care what you look like because he'll love you all the same even if you look a mess. Though, you do this for your own dignity, brushing your hair and teeth before you let him in your home.
"I'd much rather be sick with you than spend another minute with them when they've had too much sugar. Now, let me in. I'll look after you until you're feeling better." The softness in his speaking when he diverts the conversation to your sickness makes your heart swell happily.
When you open the door, he pouts at the sight of you. He enters your home, grabbing your hand and pulls you back into your bedroom and makes you get back into your bed. Sunoo doesn't say much, he leaves you in your room and disappears for at least half an hour.
Too tired to check on him, you fall into a deep sleep.
Meanwhile, Sunoo is cooking up a storm in your kitchen. He asks Jay for help on a phone call, receiving specific instructions in order to provide the best medicinal soup that was ever made, just for you.
Due to your stuffy nose, you can barely smell so you're still fast asleep when he comes up to your room holding a bowl of freshly made soup. He places it slowly onto the desk table and sits next to you on your bed, hands threading through the hair on your scalp.
He watches the way your chest rises, the slight pout on your pretty lips, and decides he wouldn’t mind letting you sleep for a little while longer.

TIME OF YOUR LIFE, LEE HEESEUNG.
Tumblr media
pairing lee heeseung + reader.
genre fluff.
summary heeseung takes his partner to their first concert.
word count 0.3k.
warnings none.
an i love imagining little things like this
Tumblr media
Your grip on Heeseung's hand is tight when he pulls you through the concert crowd. It's hard to squeeze through the people, squealing out apologies at people who seem to 'accidentally' shove you back and glare at you as your careless boyfriend tried to drag you to the front.
"Hee, I don't really care if we're at the front or not! I'm just happy to be here with you." You try to shout over the interwoven coversations surrounding you, your voice sounding so small that you would be surprised if he had even heard you.
"I want you to have the best view you can. This is your first concert, baby. I want you to have the time of your life- plus then I can take you to them all." He replies with a big smile, holding your hand tighter as you get closer to the barricade, "We won't go all the way to front. I don't want you to get crushed against the fence."
He doesn't do a brilliant job at getting you excited, but he's trying his best, so you let him off for insinuating you could die in here. After fitting you into a little spot where you can see the stage, Heeseung takes the room behind you for protection and holds onto your hips securely.
The classic lights change colour into a deep red and the booming speakers stops playing, the arena now filling with screams and squeals as they prepare for the artist to finally come on stage after all of the waiting.
Heeseung tries to keep his eyes on the stage, thought he finds it so hard when you're right there in front of him. He imagines your eyes are gleaming, wide open as you take in the new experience.
The show doesn’t matter to him, not one bit. For him, you’re the star shining so brightly in front of him, and he just wants to show you all of the beauty in the world.

TIGHTLY, PARK JONGSEONG.
Tumblr media
pairing park jongseong + reader.
genre angst.
summary he’s there for you when you need him most.
word count 0.3k.
warnings sad jay, sad everyone.
an it takes me yonks to finish my main projects so a few little drabbles won’t hurt :))
Tumblr media
You apologise profusely to your friend as he holds you against his body, trying his best to calm down your shallow breaths now that the tears are beginning to stop dripping from your eyes and onto his knitted sweater.
"Don't say sorry, you've got nothing to be sorry for. I'm always going to be here to take care of you, you know that." He lifts his hand to soothe you, placing a barely noticeable kiss onto your forehead, "Deep breaths. It's all going to be okay."
Jay's heart aches when he realises this moment won't last forever, that he can't keep living the dream that you're his. Not even the way you grip onto his other hand can help him get his hopes up, because that hand has touched another man who he wishes the worst upon every waking moment.
Your boyfriend may have been the most insufferable person Jay had ever had the displeasure of meeting. He was rude, selfish and overall Jay's least favourite person to exist. It was no surprise he found it so difficult to comprehend why you were so infatuated with him.
"I should leave him shouldn't I? Be honest with me Jongie." You manage to mutter out against his chest, reaching to rub away the drying tears on your face. The way you look up at him with a pout and wet doe eyes makes him take in a breath.
"He isn't good for you. It's your decision to make but no one likes seeing you so distraught because of him. I don't like seeing you like this." He replies, finally bringing himself to be honest with you after all this time — at least as honest as he could be in the moment.
“I know, I know. It’s just so difficult. I feel like I’m stuck in a constant loop with him and I can’t get out of it. I’m sorry you have to deal with me every time this happens, you’re a good friend.” Jay is happy your face is still shoved into his sweater because he’s crying too.
He hates when you cry, he hates when you come running to him, he hates that he’ll never be the one you want.

BANDAID, NISHIMURA RIKI.
Tumblr media
pairing nishimura riki + afab!reader.
genre fluff, minor angst.
summary when it reaches the warmth of summer in australia, you and your friends go through the effort of making it as fun as possible before going back to your normal lives. it doesn’t feel so enjoyable when your friendship with riki becomes more confusing than before he left.
word count 10.4k (unedited).
warnings cursing, reader may seem a little irritating on her judgements of riki but i think her feelings are valid, alcohol, slightly intense kiss scene. no idols represented in this writing are not based on their real self.
an finally here!! my favourite fanfic genre tbh…
Tumblr media
Australia's strong heat beats down onto your skin, but it's been so long that you're simply used to the feeling. You had always hated the cold, the feeling of having heaps on clothing on your body to keep you warm only leaving you angered and overstimulated.
Sunghoon complains behind you to Jay, he rummages around his bag and pulls out a pair of sunglasses. Since he had only moved to Australia recently after only visiting every few months for a week or so, he wasn't as used to the beating sun as the rest of his friends were.
You smile at Sunoo as he comes jogging to the rest of you, the last person to arrive onto the beach. Heeseung lets out a loud 'woop!' knowing he promised he wouldn't go into the ocean until everyone had arrived, he greets Sunoo before he along with Jake run across the hot sand to the water.
"They're so dramatic. It's only one PM, they have all day to go in there. I don't see why they enjoy it so much, I feel like I end up drinking most of the water." Sunoo states, taking a seat next to you on your lilac blanket — you always opted for a blanket rather than a towel, it was comfortable and you would use your towel if you decided to swim.
"That's kind of disgusting, Sun. I don't know, I guess it's relaxing when the waves aren't hitting. Look at Hoon, that man is dying, he probably needs to go in the water." You and Sunoo turn to look at Sunghoon, who has spread himself to take over his shared towel with Jungwon, who has already fallen asleep and has 10% of the surface area.
"Can we stop bullying me! It's not my fault I've only lived here for two weeks, give me time and soon enough I'll be as tanned as Jay and I'll handle the heat better than any of you." Sunghoon lifts himself, almost hitting Jungwon in the face but narrowly missing him. He goes to lay back down afterwards, but gets angry for a second time,  "You know what, at least I'm not like Riki! He was- oh, oh- I'm sorry. Forgot I wasn't supposed to bring him up."
Oh, Riki.
"You're allowed to bring him up, he's still our friend. I just- I guess I'm just more sensitive about him than the rest of you were." Unconsciously, your arm goes to grab onto your necklace in discomfort at the mention of his name.
As a child, the size of the nursery could be compared to a sky-scraper in your eyes. Your tiny hands grabbed harshly onto your mother's blouse as her and your father take you towards the gate, "You'll be okay, baby. They're going to take care of you while daddy and I are working, they'll teach you lots of new things and you'll make lots of new friends!"
You let out a small whine as you are pulled forward slightly by your mother, and she takes you to a younger woman with chocolate brown eyes and dark curly hair.
"Hello! You must be YN, it's really nice to meet you. My name is Grace and I'll be taking care of you while you're here. Now, I know you're new here, and I have a friend for you who is new here too!" Behind the woman you noticed the boy that was trying his best to hide away from you, but after being mentioned he stepped out slightly, “This is Riki, he just started today too.”
When he offers you a small smile and wave, your friendship began to bloom.
The memory of your first meeting slowly dissipated, and your mind was back to the present, on the beach with all of your friends. Sunoo and Sunghoon appear to have been unaware of you spacing out as they argued with one another. Jungwon is still fast asleep and the other three boys have found themselves pushing each other around in the ocean.
Riki always felt like a missing piece of a puzzle.
You find yourself nestling into your blanket to sunbathe a little before the rowdier boys would come back and irritate you. When you close your eyes, Sunoo always begins to speak so that you don't fall asleep since it was so difficult to wake you up afterwards.
"Don't you have a shift later at Emma's Diner? You want me to pick you up so you aren't walking home by yourself?" You peel your eyes open to look at him, sunglasses now perched on his nose. You groan at the mention of the shift you would have to go to later.
You loved your job, being favoured amongst customers and having a lenient boss. It doesn't change that you would rather be on the beach with your friends rather than have them be irritating in a booth while you busied yourself making their meals and milkshakes.
"Yeah, I'm working the closing shift. So, please do come and pick me up. I know it's only a ten minute walk but it's so scary walking at twelve PM. Especially since they haven't fixed the broken street lights yet." Living in a small town meant that everyone knew each other, so it was unlikely anything would ever truly happen while you were out late. It didn't make you feel entirely safe though.
"Of course, I'll come a little earlier so you can make me one of those amazing mint chocolate milkshakes. Ugh, it feels like it's been so long since I've had one of those." Sunoo lets out a satisfied sound as he thinks about the diner milkshakes. At some point, you wondered if he was only friends with you for your milkshake-making skills (a joke, you had hoped).
"You had one two days ago!" You let out a loud laugh which causes Jungwon to stir in his sleep, not waking up but turning on his side — you put a spare towel over his so that he doesn't burn. You turn back to Sunoo who has diverted his attention to the boys in the ocean, who are carrying Jake by his arms and legs to throw him in.
"Yeah, but you weren't working two days ago. Don't tell anyone, but you make the best milkshakes out of everyone." Funnily enough, everyone already knew that you made the best milkshakes in town. You suppose that's why you still have the same job from when you were fourteen years old.
"I guess we're all lucky that I got that job."  You continue to smile, thinking of all the fond memories you had made just in the small space of the diner.
"Well, you had more of a chance than anyone."
The longer you waited for the call back from the diner, the longer Riki would groan as he watched you take big strides around your bedroom — a place not made to take big strides in.
There weren't many career opportunities going around for people your age, but ever since your father fell ill and was unable to work, you wanted to provide some help for your family. The act of attempting to actually get a job had turned out to be harder than you anticipated, already being rejected from other places due to a late application and lack of spaces.
"Can you stand still? Or you know, take a breather? I think you're taking this a lot more seriously than it actually is. You don't even have to get a job, I mean, you're still in school. I haven't even thought about getting a job yet." There was not a moment in Riki's life where he seemed to feel an ounce of worry. Even now while you trampled over heaps of clothing on the floor of your room, he scrolls through Twitter on his phone.
"You, my friend, don't have a sick father who can barely move from the bedroom- and I know you're going to try and bring up the fact he's getting sick pay, but it's basically nothing. I just want to help out and- oh my god my phone is ringing." You're interrupted by the sound of you phone, the caller ID being displayed as 'Emma (my maybe future boss)' and you end up prancing around your room even more intensely.
Riki wants to pick up the phone for you as he's so sure you got the job and he doesn't want you to risk losing it.
"Pick it up! What are you waiting for stupid?" Riki is very quick to grab your phone and force it into your shaking hands, so you take in a deep breath and answer the phone before the call would disconnect.
"Hello! Yes, that's me. Of course, yes. Oh- oh! Thank you so much! Yeah, yeah I can absolutely make it tomorrow. Bye!" Your voice becomes higher pitched when you answer, Riki smiles as he acknowledges the habit that he had picked up on a few years ago whenever you were on a phone call; and he couldn't miss the smile which had appeared on your face when you ended the call, "I got the fucking job!"
"-Is she dead? I'm starting to think she might be dead. Jay, will you please begin preparing for her funeral? I would like for it to be dramatic and elegant and everyone must wear suits and gowns." You feel yourself coming back into your consciousness from the sound of Heeseung's obnoxious voice, so you open your eyes and look through your sunglasses to see him with his left hand on his chest.
"Oh my god, shut the fuck up. She's probably just ignoring you because of how annoying you are!" Sunoo hits Heeseung's shoulder, grimacing at him before giving you a loving smile.
"Sorry... I got a little caught up in my daydreams." You rub your eyes lightly and allow yourself to adjust to the sun again through your sunglasses. It had become a little dimmer outside, but still too bright to walk around sunglasses-free.
"Daydreams? You've been lay there without a word for over half an hour. I'm fairly sure you fell asleep, thank you for covering me with the towel by the way." Jungwon is up and awake now, and your eyebrows shape to show shock on your face as you wonder what on earth you had dreamt about.
Surely you wouldn't have dreamt of just Riki for that long? You were sure you had been awake this whole time.
"Fuck, really? I should probably head home before I have to go to my shift. I'll see you all tomorrow I imagine?" You reply, pulling out your phone to check the time. It had now reached 3PM (somehow), which meant you had about two hours to prepare yourself to work.
It was always busiest when you began working, so the first two hours always drove you insane.
"Of course, see you around!" They all say goodbye, some giving hugs and some opting for waves, though Jake had almost popped a lung when he cuddled you so tightly against his chest.
Tumblr media
You arrive home, still living with your mother and father in their little apartment which gives you a perfect view of the ocean. When the streetlights came on, you liked to look from yout window and watch the waves move with elegance.
It had been a few years since your father recovered from his illness and had gotten back into working, he had stated that it was fine if you had wanted to leave the diner and relax for a little while. The diner had become a large aspect of your life and leaving it would leave something missing — you had already lost something when Riki left for Japan, the diner being somewhat of a reminder of him.
"Oh, good afternoon! Are you going to work soon?" Your mother is pondering around the living room with cleaning products while your father is sat staring at the television. You find it strange that's she's cleaning since it's Saturday, and that was usually her resting day.
"Why are you cleaning? You never clean on a Saturday, the living room wasn't even a mess this morning." You respond, ignoring her question, since she did know the answer to it. Jumping on the sofa next to your father, he lets out an 'oof' as you practically land on his leg that had been perched up onto the sofa.
He generally spoke to you when you got home, yet he was being strangely quiet. You were sure they were both hiding something.
"I wish you weren't so observant sometimes, you should be like your father." She rolls her eyes with a smile, but her eyes reveal that she's nervous about something. It makes your stomach churn with anxiety as you wonder if you had done anything wrong recently.
You go through every moment in the last week in your mind.
"I'm actually quite observant, I just don't say anything about what I notice. It's all stored up here." He doesn't take his eyes from the screen when he knocks at his own head, watching a show he's likely watched on repeat since the 90s, you were sure he'd seen this episode over five times now.
"Okay... Do you have something to tell me? You're both being weird which means you're trying to hide something from me, and it's causing heavy worry to run through my body." You reply, your mother sighs and sits across from you on the smaller chair, "Has someone died? This feels... serious."
"No, no. No one's dead. We do have something to tell you, and we only found out after you left. I was just a little worried to tell you about who came knocking on our door this morning." She sounds almost excited, a soft smile replaces the one she had previously held, "Riki's mother came this morning. He's back- for good that is. She said he wants to see you and everyone else."
Half of you feels morbid, you're angry. The other half fills with excitement and wonder as to why he had come back after so many years.
After deciding not to question them on the situation so much considering you were hardly processing it yourself, you nodded your head in shock before walking into your room and closing the door slowly. You leave an ominous message to Sunoo, asking him to bring Sunghoon along with him later and to come a little earlier.
"What? You're joking! How long has he been back for? And why didn't he say anything to any of us?" Sunoo drops the fry back onto his plate, his jaw dropped as you reveal that Riki is back in town.
The three of you were in one of the booths in the diner, you had locked up and moved the 'open' side onto the 'closed' side, even though it was unlikely there would be any other customers at this time. As you had thought, the two of them also had no idea that Riki was back.
"Well, it's not like we really stayed in contact with after a couple of months. It's been three years." Sunghoon retorts, he continues to eat the food you had made him. He had always been so sure that Riki wouldn't stay in Japan forever, therefore having a weaker reaction compared to Sunoo.
"I still don't get it, I mean- he moved away for a reason and now he's back, and his mum is knocking on my front door and he isn't." You're now irritated, but under that irritation you're counting down the minutes until your old best friend would be standing in front of you — and he would be different from all those years ago.
"He'll be nervous. The town hasn't changed but I'm sure we have and so has he. Give him some time." Sunghoon continues to eat and you allow yourself to take in his words.
You didn't want to be mad at Riki, you didn't want to see him for the first time again in years and not know what to do with yourself. Sunghoon was right, you were sure of it, but you also couldn’t help the way that you felt.
As your mother always stated, you had been as observant as she had been with the body language and habits of others, knowing if someone was acting out of the ordinary compared to their usual act.
On this day, Riki had left you feeling confused when he hadn't complained about you stumbling around his room.
To other people, this may not have been unusual; but Riki had always told you to sit down and stop walking around his room because it made him feel anxious. He always felt like you were nervous about something and that you were about to drop a bomb on him, thought it was just because you found it difficult to stay still.
"Are you okay? You haven't really said anything in awhile- and you haven't told me to sit down either." You jump onto the bed next to him, the bed creaking as you landed and bounced up and down.
"Sorry, I'm just feeling a little sick I think." You pout at his words, knowing that he's lying to you. He looks just as he does usually and he hasn't done anything that would insinuate that he had been ill.
"You look perfectly fine to me, plus you wouldn't invite me over if you felt sick. You can talk to me, we tell each other everything don't we?" You comfort him, he furrows his eyebrows and throws his face into his hands with a rough groan, and you can feel your heart beat faster at his clear distress.
Finally, Riki turns to look at you and his bottom lip is pulled between his teeth as his eyes begin to brim with tears. You reach forward to brush them away, he finds solace in your warmth and leans into the touch as your hands hold his face softly.
"I'm moving to Japan next week- my parents bought some land there and are planning on building up their business. They found a really good school for me to attend to finish my studies, and they want me to go to college and university there." Riki sighs, he looks at you with sad eyes, "I don't know if I'll ever be coming back. At least not for a long while."
"Oh... Riki why didn't you tell me earlier? When did you find this out?" You finally pull your hand away, though you feel a mix of negative emotions building up inside of your body as you listen to your best friend, "You should have told me."
"It's been a few months. I'm sorry, I just didn't want to worry you or anything." Riki seems to become quieter and quieter as he speaks, and his fingers wrap around yours while they tremble.
"Well, you can visit can't you?" You had made an attempt to make light of the situation, "You can tell everyone all about Japan- we don't leave Australia very often. It would be nice to know."
"I'm not sure." In his response, his voice becomes even more timid somehow. You know that you're upset at him for not telling you, you know you're angry that your best friend may be leaving you forever — but hearing his voice sound so broken left you wanting to hold him for the next week you had left with him.
The atmosphere of the room weakens and you barely share anymore words with each other.
When you had gone to visit him a few days later, he was already gone.
"I know he'll be nervous. I'm just angry that he never gave me a real goodbye. Then he talked to you guys a lot more than he talked to me. I just thought that he was my best friend, but it really felt like he didn't see me that way." You start to
stab at your meal with a pout, thinking about all of those years spent together just to be thrown like grains of sand.
Sunghoon and Sunoo look at each other, but you're too busy poking your food to notice.
"You ever thought he might have had a crush on you?" Sunoo mutters and you look at him with a raised eyebrow.
"No, I never got that impression from him- but he never really talked about relationships or anything to me so I wouldn't know how he acts around someone he has feelings for." You lean onto your hand, looking up as you think, "Even then, why would he ignore me if he liked me? Surely he would be doing the opposite."
"You were his best friend and I intend to believe that you still are. If anything, he was probably scared because of it. Going to Japan would have helped him get over you. That's if he did have feelings for you." Sunghoon is nonchalant, as he usually would be in situations such as this.
In times like this, Sunoo and Sunghoon would always be your go-to for advice and comfort because they would always help to reassure you that it isn't the end of the world — and if it felt like it really was, they were always your biggest supporters no matter the situation.
"As interesting as your theory is, I'm not sure." You stare at one of the old, blinking lights of the diner, as if it were an idea attempting to spring to the front of your mind, "I just want to see him again. I need to understand why he never explained why he wouldn't talk to me."
"He'll come around, he has to. Don't worry." Sunghoon reaches over and rubs your head soothingly with a soft smile, Sunoo giving a much larger one which comforts you just as much. You finish up your meals, after heading home you lay in your bed for another hour thinking about Riki.
Tumblr media
You feel relieved when you wake up in the morning knowing that you have the whole day to yourself; no work, no chores, nothing at all. Waking up at ten AM instead of six feels great, just as great as it feels knowing the night is free for you too.
The group chat between you and your friends is blowing up, you blink your eyes to get used to the bright light of your phone screen. Everyone appears to be active, thought you're too tired to take in every single message, just getting the gist everyone wanted to go to the arcade today.
After a few minutes of being awake, your mother wanders into your room holding a hamper basket of clean clothing, beginning to fold it in the corner of your room, "Rise and shine, honey. You got any plans today?"
"Arcade I think. I'm not sure when, but probably around the same time I usually leave. I want to lounge around a bit first though, I love my spare days when I'm not working." You roll over to lie onto your stomach and she lets out a scoff, though you know she's only joking with you.
She knows you work hard.
"You'll have fun. Try not to let Jake spend all of his money this time please, his mother sounded absolutely gob-smacked when he told her how much he'd spent in that place." She chuckles under her breath and you smile at the thought. Mrs. Sim loathed spending money, but Jake seemed to find it to be his favourite hobby.
"I'm not in control how how Jake likes to spend his money, he's addicted to the arcade. I don't think he'd listen to me of all people." Your eyes are still closed as you bask in your last few moments of peace before you would have to go through your simple routine, you can feel the heat radiating through your window onto your back when your mother opens the curtains.
"Who knows. I know it might seem a little too soon for you, maybe you should see if Riki would like to come along." Even just by saying his name, your heart beats faster and you feel as if you had broken out into a sweat. He shouldn't be making you feel so anxious.
"He hasn't spoken to me yet." You know this doesn't surprise her.
"I know. I know he hasn't. And I know it isn't fair that he came back out of nowhere and you're finding it difficult to adjust to it." She sits down next to you, stroking your hair lightly on the back of your head, "He is too. It'll all be fine once you finally see each other again, just like when you were younger."
"Thank you." Finally, you turn around to sit up and give her hug before she would leave the room to carry on her endeavours — you would go ahead and make a ham and cheese toastie and get ready for the day ahead of you.
The arcade is just as packed as it tends to be, children racing each other around and occasionally apologising to teenagers and adults they bumped into and continuing their adventure with their friends.
It's sweet knowing that this was what you used to do when you were a child.
"You're such a fucking cheat! You can't throw shit at me to block my view, then start hitting the puck! Heeseung, I'm never playing this game with you ever again. In fact, don't talk to me ever again." Jungwon throws the jacket harshly back towards Heeseung, who is laughing loudly with Sunghoon after he wins the game for the third time.
"I don't see any rules that tell me that I'm not allowed to throw jackets at people whenever I desire. Hate the game not the player." Heeseung and Sunghoon high five each other and Jungwon rolls his eyes, Jay comes over and gives him a soft slap on the shoulder for reassurance that at least one person in the room has his back.
"No- no- I'm hating the player very hard at this moment in time. Sunghoon stop laughing, he'll do the exact same thing to you." Jungwon's voice raises louder, two children are giggling at him from behind the claw machine and it's unclear if that had calmed him down or frustrated him even more.
You begin to ignore the argument, looking around for Jake who should have been here twenty minutes ago. If anyone was ever late, it wouldn't bother you so much, though you had a strange feeling in the pit of your stomach that was starting to make you feel nauseous.
"I don't mean to interrupt your squabbling but where's Jake? He'd be here by now, you think he's okay?" The rest of them shrug at your worry, knowing that it was unlikely Jake was doing nothing but being fashionable late — something was beginning to really bother you, but you couldn't work out what it was.
"Jake has arrived! And, I'm showing up with a big surprise." Jake's voice booms through the arcade and everyone greets him before they notice the larger figure standing behind him.
He's gotten taller- taller than Heeseung now. His body is more toned and defined and he's grown into his features. His hair is styled rather than flopping over his forehead like you had remembered.
Riki coming back would be a lot harder to accept than you had truly anticipated, and you knew it would be difficult.
The boys crowd around him, picking him and throwing him around in happiness, ecstatic laughs ringing through out the building. You're stuck in place, watching his face contort through emotions.
You smile.
When the others are done parading around Riki, almost all of their eyes turn to look at you, apart from Jake and Sunghoon who were ready to put all of his cash into the punching machine. When Riki finally makes eye contact with you, both of your worlds appear to stop.
It's as if you had both been dropped into an empty box. His face changes expression, practically monotone, but you can tell that he isn't disappointed to see you. Slowly, he examines you from head to toe; you've grown up too.
"Hi." It appears to be the only words that can slip past his lips, and as you had expected, his voice had deepened to. This was still the same Riki you had known ever since you were a child, all the resentment you had held towards him faded away from your memory immediately.
You aren't particularly thinking in the moment, before you realise it your hands are around Riki's back and tears are streaming down your face, you feel the vaguely familiar hands of your best friend enveloping your body.
"Fuck, I really really missed you Riki." Your voice is undeniably shaky, the grasp you had on the back of his shirt tightens as you let out tiny sobs. Tenderly, Riki brings his hand to land on-top of your head and moves back and forth, "I missed you so much."
"I missed you too... I'm sorry for ever leaving you behind." He murmurs into your ear so that you're the only one who hears his words, knowing that the only person he truly wants to know this is you.
The two of you remember where you both are, standing in an arcade surrounded by your friends and heaps of children. It felt embarrassing, but anyone else would react the same way after so long. You feel him pull away from you, shivering at the loss of warmth that had been radiating from his body against yours.
"Welcome back, dude! We've got so much to show you- we have a fair and everything now! I can't believe you're back now..." Jay's arms hold onto the younger boys once again as he gives you one last look, being pulled away to watch Jake and Sunghoon argue after their punching machine adventures.
When the day comes to an end, you notice that talking to Riki doesn't feel the same anymore. At least you had felt so, the others were chatting with him as if he had never left. There were longing stares and banter, but something felt uncomfortable between the two of you, which you couldn't explain.
Heeseung offers to drive you home when he sees you rubbing your arm in the corner.
"You gonna tell me what's wrong with you?"  The car ride had been practically silent up until this point, apart from the quiet music coming from Heeseung's radio, "You were moping in the corner for the last half an hour, that's not like you."
"I think I'm just a little lost right now, confused I guess." You answer, leaning your head against the window while you watch the houses passing by. Heeseung lets out a low chuckle, though not to make fun of you, just to show he understands how you're feeling from his own experiences.
"Is it because of Riki?" Heeseung had always been direct, you think it helps when trying to get people to talk about their feelings and give them advice. You sigh for maybe the twentieth time in the last two hours and let out how you feel to your close friend.
"I knew he was back, before today. His mum came to our house and talked to my family. I've been feeling nervous the last few days. Seeing him today made me feel better, but even after he hugged me it didn't feel like he missed me all that much." Your lips quiver slightly as you speak, just as your voice wavers, but you don't want to cry in front of Heeseung.
"He's probably just as scared as you are." It almost feels like people have been talking about your problems, everyone giving you the same answer you already had.
"Yeah, that's what everyone's been telling me, Hee. I know it won't go back to how it was straight away, but I would have liked if he'd talked to me more after our big, loving reunion." Hearing the same thing on repeat — Sunghoon, Sunoo, your mother and now Heeseung— only bothered you more.
"Do you want me to talk to him for you? I don't mind giving him a slap around the back of his head." He snickers, you turn your head away from the window to smile at him to show you appreciate his help.
Despite your feelings, you don't think Riki deserves a slap around the back of his head.
"It's okay, thank you. It'll be better if I talk to him myself." Though you value the help your friends and family try to provide for you in unfortunate times like this, it would be more effective to deal with it yourself. No one was better at explaining your feelings and morals than yourself.
Heeseung parks up in front of your house, the sun slowly beginning to hide behind the walls of your coral-coloured home. You bite your lip and give him one last meaningful smile, which he always returns.
"No worries- you know I'm always here when you need me." He responds, you leave his car and say goodbye before he drives off down the road back to his own apartment.

The diner is slow today. It's the same customers (as expected, it's a small town), except everyone seems unrealistically grumpy and a woman said you had put too much coffee in her coffee which was completely baffling.
You leaned on your palm on the counter, happy Emma wasn't in today so she wouldn't tell you to sit up because it drove away customers — it didn't, you doubted they cared that you were bored on the job as long as you actually did your job.
However, the universe would never allow you to have a boring, uneventful day; because the man who had been on your mind for years wanders through the doors of your safe place.
"Hey, sorry I don't mean to intrude. Sunghoon said this is where you worked." His deep voice rings through your ears and racks your brain, he looks almost too perfect to be real and you wouldn't be surprised if you were making this all up in your head.
"Yeah, it is." You try to quickly think of something to say before it manages to get awkward, "What brings you here? I make a pretty mean milkshake."
"Yeah, I remember pretty well." He grins at you, all too familiar to when he was younger and you had been practicing making the milkshakes for your new job.
Using a blender was not something that you had the pleasure of taking part in often. In fact, you were petrified that you were about to break your mother's very precious blender to practice making milkshakes.
"Did you press it in right? I'm not sure you pressed it in fully. It's gonna spew everywhere." Niki is sat on your kitchen counter and has given zero effort to try and help you use the blender — 'i'm not the one working' he says.
"You're annoying me! Yes, it's in right!" You angrily whisper-shout to Riki, trying your best not to wake up your sleeping father in his bedroom. Confused, you examine the blender, "Or at least I think it is..."
"I'm scared. I don't want to be covered is strawberry juice, milk and ice cream." Riki groans, a vibrant habit of his, though still not making any efforts to move if this were to go terribly wrong.
"Have some faith in me please." You whine, pouring the rest of the milk into the blender cup. After reassuring yourself you had done it successfully, you shut your eyes and clicked the button.
There is no feeling of cold liquid splatting onto your body, which feels like a positive sign. Cautiously, you opened your eyes at the sound of silence when it had finished, which Riki appears to have done too.
"Oh. You did it." The shocked sound residing in Riki's voice almost bothers you, he has no belief in your skills (he's your biggest supporter, he's just avoidant with his affection).
The milkshake looks perfect. It's a deep pink colour due to the grenadine you had decided to pour into it, in courtesy of the milkshakes your mother would provide for you that you were sure you had become addicted to since the day you took your first sip.
"Of course I did it." After pulling off the lid from the blender, you pour the liquid into the milkshake glass, passing it off to Riki to get another person's opinion, "Try it."
Riki is hesitant to take the glass from your hands, pulling his hand back and forth dramatically. You pout sadly at him with furrowed eyebrows, then he only laughs loudly before holding the glass in his hands and smelling the contents of it.
"This better not be disgusting..." You clasp your hands together in anticipation when Riki finally takes a sip through the straw, taking your bottom lip between your teeth when he pulls away and smacks his lips, "Oh- Oh wow."
That day, you found out that your hidden talent was making the most delicious milkshakes in town.
"You Okay? You're spacing out a little." Riki waves his hands in front of your face to get your attention back on his current self and away from his old self. Your face heats up in embarrassment and you focus your eyes back onto his face.
"Oh, sorry, I've been doing that a lot lately... So, want a milkshake?" You repeat your question, due to both being unsure as to what you could say and the need to relive apart of your past with Riki. Unsurprisingly, Riki had always been your favourite person to make milkshakes for, even after he had left.
"When do you get off work?" Riki asks, leaning himself onto the counter. You feel your heart drop, wondering if it was finally time for the both of you to spend time alone together as two grown adults.
"Uh... In about twenty minutes. What's up?" You're trying your best to keep eye contact with him, but his intense gaze makes it difficult, he has very pretty eyes and they're making you strangely anxious.
"I was wondering if you wanted to catch up, it's been a long while. Plus, I think I owe you an explanation." You both swallow a lump in your throat at the same time and Riki's hand gets closer to yours on the desk, "And I would love a milkshake by the way."
"Yeah, I think I could do with a catch up. You can wait in one of the booth's if you want." A small smile appears on your face which makes him grin at you also. He nods his head, taking a seat at the booth closest to where you were working.
With the feeling of his eyes on your for almost the whole twenty minutes, time moved slowly and you became much more cautious about your movements.
He takes you to the park that is a ten minute walk from the diner, the walk filled with small talk conversation and reminiscing of your past relationship as children and teenagers. Finally being able to speak with Riki is nice.
"How have you been?" You watch two children on the park push each other on the swing instead of sharing eye contact with Riki, though finally getting used to having him back in your presence again, "God, it still feels weird having you back. I'm glad you're staying."
"I've been pretty good, surviving. It was fun in Japan, but I always wanted to come back." He smiles but you don't notice, considering you have been avoiding looking at him ever since he had sat in that booth in the diner, "I wanted to apologise for how I was with you when we were at the arcade. I didn't mean to ignore you like that, but you know, you're different to the boys. You were- still are, my best friend. I'll admit that I felt a little awkward after so long, but I shouldn't have avoided you like that."
"I understand, I'll admit I knew you were back before we saw you at the arcade. I was kind of freaked out because it's been so long and I was really nervous, so I could have reached out to you beforehand but I just really couldn't bring myself to. So, I'm sorry for that too." Your palms become a little clammy and you begin to unconsciously twiddle your thumbs while spilling your feelings out,"Did Heeseung speak to you or anything?"
"You don't have to apologise for anything, I really think this is all on me. I really missed you." You decide that this was time to look at him. The light of the sun shines on him so perfectly, you feel as if you could get lost looking at him.
You finally had your best friend back.
"I really missed you too, I wish we could go back to how it was before you moved to Japan." Somehow, you still feel like you can be completely honest with the boy, the one you had dissipated away from so long ago. In your minds, you both knew that something between you was different and would never go back.
"How about we start over?" Riki suggests and you furrow your eyebrows in confusion.
"What do you mean?" The wind gets a little harsher with your words, forcing your hair to flow into your face — Riki reaches forward to move it away, then pushing his out in front of you chest as if he was waiting for a handshake.
"I'm Nishimura Riki, it's nice to meet you." He smiles brightly, like the way the sun had been shining into his deep brown eyes. Laughing, you take his hand into yours and shake it, introducing yourself to him as if this was your first meeting.
Riki feels a shiver down his spine as your smaller, warmer hands slip into his.
Tumblr media
A smile had been plastered on your face ever since the previous day. Your mother had been adamant on you telling her what had got you so jumpy and ecstatic, but you would just say it was nothing and go skipping back to your room.
It has been repeating in your mind every moment, you could barely stay on your phone or read a book without closing your eyes and replaying the whole moment in your head that had your grin growing larger.
"Honey, Sunoo is here!" Your mother shouts from downstairs, her voice drags you out of your daydreams and you sit up from your bed. Sunoo comes bursting into your room, jumping onto your bed with a smile almost as huge as yours had been.
He looks at you expectingly, to which you give him a strange look.
"Well, go on then!" He pushed your shoulder and you only continue to look at him with the same baffled facial expression, nudging him back with your hand in return.
"What the fuck are you talking about?" Sunoo's jaw drops at your response and you can only let out a loud laugh at this shocked expression — how could you have any idea what he was talking about when he gave you no information to stem from?
"You were with Riki yesterday! Tell me about it." He grabs your television remote and turns the TV off, interrupting your show that had been playing on and off since you had woken up. You scoff, taking the remote from him and placing it onto your rocky sidetable.
"How did you even know about that?" You laugh, turning your body to face him, crossing your legs on your bed. Looking up at the ceiling, you wonder what to tell Sunoo. All day, you've been daydreaming about it, but speaking it aloud didn't feel as exciting as your brain had been making if out to be.
"Because you're my best friend... I was with Sunghoon when Riki asked where you worked. I just assumed he was wanting to hang out with you. So, quick, tell me everything that happened." Sunoo's eyes are set on your face, he doesn't take a second to look away.
In your mind, you think about the conversation that you and Riki had. Sure, you told Sunoo everything. Other people's business was also your business when it came to gossiping with him; but the redevelopment of your relationship seemed a whole lot more personal, and you were going to be a hypocrite.
"We just apologised to each other, then he asked if we wanted to start over. It was quite nice actually." You shrug, wanting to keep the peaceful moment you had between you and Riki. Unsurprisingly, the boy sitting in front of you pulls a face of disgust at your response.
"Wow, you aren't even going to tell me all the details." His eyes roll, which you had expected from him — you know he understands thought, since he smirks at you when he thinks you aren't paying attention to him.
"I'm tired! I'll tell you another time. It isn't as exciting as you're anticipating it to be." You lie back onto your bed and Sunoo joins you on the left side closest to the window which brought in a cold breeze; he doesn't believe you'll ever tell him what happened that day, "Is that all you came here for?"
"Actually, I have something to tell you. Since Riki is finally back and Jay's parents are out of town, we're going to host a surprise welcoming party for Riki. Do not mention it to him! I've already had to calm Jake down about five times." Your pink-haired friends claps his hands in excitement.
It would be nice to have everyone around to join and have a good time to welcome Riki back. Half the town likely had no idea Riki was home and they would have missed him too, so a house party would be the perfect opportunity for the community to come back together.
"Well, I'm not Jake! I'm very good at keep secret. My lips are sealed." You pull your fingers across your lips to imitate a zip, turning your head when an idea pops into your head, "Do you want to watch Gone Girl?"
"Of course I want to watch Gone girl."
Tumblr media
This would be the first time you and Riki were hanging out after deciding to 'start over'. When you were younger, you all would go to the summer fair in January to welcome the New Year.
"Get- get the fuck off! What is it with you and fucking jumping people? There's kids here! What if you knocked one over?" Jay tries his best to push Riki from his back, his angry furrowed brows making you giggle.
"I think that would be kind of funny." Sunghoon says under his breath, though it's loud enough for you and Jungwon to hear, which results in you both pulling a strange face in his direction.
"You're awful, man." Jungwon shakes his had at Sunghoon, but the way he's trying to hide his laugh contradicts his disappointment. Jay joins the three of you walking after he finally gets Riki off his back, now going over to bother Jake who lets out upset whines.
"I'm joking. Sorry for admitting kids falling over is a funny concept." Sunghoon's honest never fails to prevail in conversation, you've seen him laugh at children falling over with tears dripping down his face.
"You do realise admitting it's funny insinuates you aren't joking?" Jungwon raises his left eyebrow at Sunghoon, who shrugs and moves on to go and talk to Heeseung instead, who was more inclined to agree with his take.
Riki moves on next to you and drags you over to the punching machine which was enveloped by prizes of different prizes, all won through punch strength.
"Want me to win you a prize?" He asks and you miss the fact he was being completely serious, so you chuckle at him. You turn to look at the others who have taken to the water gun game and are loudly screaming as they shove each other away from their stations.
"What, on the punching machine? You can try but I'm not sure your muscles are big enough to even get that pack of candy." Feeling bold, your hand goes to wrap around his bicep through his jacket. A light blush litters over your face when he disproves your point without uttering a single syllable.
"Oh yeah? Maybe you should have more faith in me, I've been a gym rat for the last few years." He takes hold of one of his jacket sleeves and removes the jacket from his shoulders to reveal the vest he had been wearing underneath.
Yeah, he'd absolutely proved you wrong.
Riki pays the guy the price for the machine, then punches it as hard as he possible can. Unexpectedly, Riki pretty much matches the high score which directs his eyes to the ginormous teddy bear that he could afford free of charge.
Just for you.
For the first time in years, you remember that feeling you had been pushing back all those years ago.
This was the first time you had ever experienced a fake friendship with someone, a few weeks before Riki would be telling you that he was leaving.
Yuna was always a good friend of yours, she was slightly older than you, but she never treated you like you weren't as mature as she had been. She wasn't necessarily excluded from your friend group, but she had her own friends and really only hung out with you rather than your friends.
"It's honestly so weird. All of her friends are boys, don't you all think that's a little strange?" Yuna's voice is heard by you from around the corner and you decide to hide behind the brick wall and listen in before you say hello.
"I mean- not really? She's friends with you and I think she's really lovely. I don't think it's all that weird, Yu. You shouldn't talk about her like that." Her friend Chaeryeong replies, seemingly concerned with her friend's comment.
Weirdly, you have a strong feeling you know exactly who she is talking about.
"I think she's just a little, I don't want to sound mean but, desperate? I mean come on, there's seven of them. She must think at least one of them is going to have a crush on her. Easy." Her voice is filled with venom and you hear a few giggles come out of others that were around her.
Not wanting to hear what anyone else had to say, you find yourself hiding away in one of the isolated blocks in the school. Tears stream down your face and you shake as you question what you could have possibly done wrong for her to judge you so awfully.
If you had known she was simply jealous, maybe you would have felt less insecure. A squeak comes from the rusty door and you rapidly try to wipe away your tears before whoever walks in would see you in such a weak state.
"What are you doing in here? Why are your eyes so red?" Riki's face drops when he sees you, his dark hair falls in front of his eyes and bounces as he jogs over to lean down next to you.
Your first fall-out is Riki's first time seeing you so distraught, it tugs at his heart and he isn't sure how to deal with it. Sure, he's seen you mad and upset, but he's never seen you cry. If he realises anything while looking at you, it's that he never wants to see you cry again.
"It's- it's nothing. I don't want you to worry yourself." More tears fall down your soft cheeks and Riki moves his hand forward to wipe them off your face. He doesn't think someone like you should be crying like this and selfishly he doesn't think he deserves to see his best friend crying either.
"Of course I'm worrying. Are you okay?" He watches as you pull your knees up to your chest and you lean into your own touch.
"Do you think it's weird that I'm only friends with boys?" The way your eyes had become so wide when you looked at him broke him, you were taking all of him in, waiting for an honest answer. Riki couldn't believe that you were questioning your friendships over something so small.
"What? No. What kind of question is that? Did someone say something?" A crease appears between his eyebrows as they furrow, so lost in why this had become an issue for you. He can't help but to pick at the pout of your lips with the tips of his fingers to make you put it away.
When you don't reply, Riki doesn't speak either. He holds you in his arms like his life depended on it. That was the first moment you knew you felt differently to Riki than your other friends, that you wouldn't mind spending your life in his arms.
When you come back to the present, Riki is holding out this teddy bear to you with the most beautiful smile you have ever seen. You’re taking him again, you’re thinking about what it’s like go be in his arms forever.
It truly is your fault this time. You're the one taking everything back to square one and you've never seen Park Sunghoon so irritated with you before. He forgets ever having a soft spot for you when he looks at you with the angriest expression.
You hated to admit it, but after coming to the conclusion that you had romantic feelings for Riki, you had been avoiding him for the last three days. It wasn't your best decision in life though you had no idea what to do.
So, you turned to your straight-forward friend Sunghoon.
"You're an idiot, genuinely. What the hell is wrong with you? You're going to put him through hell, didn't you want to become friends with him again? What happened to starting over?" His feet take him around your living room aggressively and you sit staring at the ceiling, feeling too nervous to look him in the eyes.
"Instead of calling me names, can you help me out here? I don't know what to do, what if he doesn't feel the same and I mess it all up again?" Your hands fall onto your face with a loud slapping noise.
Finally, you look up at Sunghoon and his face tells you everything you needed to know. If you carried on ignoring Riki's existence, he wouldn't be your friend or a romantic interest. Either one is better than none.
"Look, I love you, you're amazing- but this is the stupidest thing you've ever done. The party is tonight and he's probably too busy wondering why you're suddenly paying more attention to Jungwon's ice cream rather than him." Once again, the man is correct.
After Riki had got you the teddy bear (which you were cuddling in your arms in that exact moment) you had become a blushing mess and could barely bring yourself to look him in the eyes. It wasn't hard for Sunghoon and Sunoo to catch onto, Sunghoon nudging your arm when you had started questioning Jungwon about unnecessary things while Riki was right next to you.
You were so, so scared. What better way to avoid your feelings by avoiding the one that had caused them to blossom?
"You are getting this sorted tonight. I don't care how it ends, you're both getting closure on whatever this is because I can't stand this weird tension going on between you both and I don't know how long it will be until you both crack." Sunghoon’s words simultaneously break your heart and make it beat 10x faster.
You had no idea Riki was sat in his room staring at his phone wondering what he had done wrong this time.
Tumblr media
Jay's house is filled to the brim with party decorations, alcohol and people. You wonder how his parents would even allow this, then you question wether they even know about it. Honestly, you're sure you don't know some of the people here and you have no idea where they've spawned from.
You haven't seen Riki yet.
Sunghoon's words had been playing in your mind since he had spoke. In fact, you had been looking for Riki the whole time so you could sort it as soon as possible, tell him the truth, allowing him to enjoy the rest of the night even if his possible rejection could ruin yours.
You've downed a few drinks to release your nerves, soon finding the boys and a few others playing beer pong. They all don't seem too drunk,
on their feet successfully, until your eyes land on Riki who is stumbling all over the place.
Deep breath. You walk over to him.
"Riks, I'm sorry- talk to me." You pull him into a more isolated corner to avoid people listening into your conversation, though Riki pushes you away lightly and glares at you.
"Fuck off." He slurs and you step back in shock which causes you to bump into the wall. It's not like you had ever seen the boy drunk, for all you know something else could have bothered him, "I said- I think I'm gonna throw up.”
He turns around and makes his way upstairs and you follow closely behind him both to finish the conversation and take care of him. He leaves the door unlocked, so you walk in and see him leaned up against a porcelain bathtub.
Jay's parents liked their cute, but strange, antiques.
"Riki, please stand up. I need to get you home, you're too drunk." You're trying your hardest to pull the boy up out of the bathroom, but he only falls back down onto the side of the tub. You resort to giving up, sitting on the floor in front of him.
"You know I came back for you right? I- fuck I'm actually gonna be sick." He stands up, mostly stumbling, then sits down in front of the toilet instead with his back pressed against the wall. Turning around to face him, you've barely processed what he had said.
His eyes are beginning to fill with tears, he brings his arms up to rub them away.
"What do you mean you came back for me?" When you lean forward to rub the tears from his eyes, which he surprisingly allows you to do, you almost get deja vu.
"I could have stayed in Japan, I had everything I needed there." Like he had sobered up, he no longer needs to throw up anymore and theres no slurring in his tone, "But I didn't have what I wanted- you. I don't think you understand how much I think about you, every single day you were there in my head. It was torture knowing I couldn't have you and that's why I stopped talking to you. I put myself through so fucking much just because I fell in love with you and couldn't do anything about it."
"You can't do this to me."
"What? You've been ignoring me for the last three days and I can't tell you that I love you? I had to get it off my chest." He scoffs, going to stand when you try to drag him back down, "You know what-"
"I'm in love with you too. I was scared. That's why I was ignoring you. I thought pushing you away would stop it, but it just made me feel worse."
You let it all out.
Riki hesitates, but soon moves forward so that his face is only inches from yours. He looks at you in the eyes, both filled with love, desire and fear. The amount of alcohol you had both consumed only reduced the anxiety slightly, but it doesn't stop him from leaning forward to close the gap.
it's merely a small peck for a second and you both pull away from each other. The separation doesn't last long when Riki pulls you to stand up with him, his hand reaching for the back of your neck to connect your lips again.
Your back is pressed against the bathroom door, hands wrapping around the back of his neck and his falling to grip onto your hips. When you close your eyes, the mixture of alcohol and Riki makes you dizzy and your legs shake, though his hold manages to keep you standing up-right.
"I'm sorry for telling you to fuck off. I didn't mean it." He mumbles against your lips, pecking them one last time before pulling away from you. Though it doesn't make the warmth he gave you part from your body.
"It's okay. I think I deserved it."
The next morning, you wake up in his arms — where you had always wanted to be. This turned out to be one of your favourite things to wake up to.
"I can't believe I moved all the way to Japan when I could have just been in your arms the whole time." Riki's hand rakes through your hair softly, stopping every so often to move the hairs out of your face.
"You're so cheesy. Why were you never this cheesy usually?" You both laugh, you’ve been messing with the necklace he had been wearing for a few minutes, trying to fixate on something other than the nerves that had been building.
"I wasn't dating you back then. I'm not going to show the world that I have a weakness." He says, manoeuvring his body to face you, he was blushing just as much as you were.
"And suddenly you want to?" You smile, he smiles back happily.
He doesn’t respond, continuing to soothe his hand through your hair. For once, the two of you don’t need to communicate with words, something you both seemed to struggled with your whole life.
Like a scraped knee, you had always placed a bandaid over it instead of tending to it properly like you should — when you finally decide to, it heals a lot faster.

ANIMAL NOISES, YANG JUNGWON.
Tumblr media
pairing yang jungwon + afab!reader.
genre pure cuteness.

word count 6.6k
warnings follows jungwon’s thoughts rather than readers, it’s just cute. no idols represented in this writing are not based on their real self.
an this was so cute it made me sad. sorry if something doesn’t make sense i wrote this over two months lol
Tumblr media
Jungwon doesn't remember the last time he left the city, all he knew was the sound of the crowding streets and the smoke pollution that slowly filled the air, that no one seemed to really bother about too much. One day, he had woken up and decided that he was simply bored of this lifestyle that he was born into.
For days, the boy lay on his couch, slouching trying to find the perfect place that would get him out of the city for a few months. He had reached a point where he had began to question if he really cared where he was going.
He almost jumped out of his skin when he read the bold letters that spread across his screen. Oak Farm looking for helper during the summer, 234 miles way from you. This was absolutely perfect.
Not only was this far away enough from where he lived, but it sounded like a tranquil vacation. He didn't mind putting in some help while relaxing in the sun for a few hours a day. Quickly, he clicked on the link and sent a message to the requester, who soon replied relieved that someone finally decided to reply to them.
Jungwon was already packed and ready within a few days, constantly making sure that he had absolutely everything with him, and soon his father was dropping him off in front of a beautiful plot of land completed with wooden buildings and fences, animals and produce covering the grounds.
"I can always come pick you up if you aren't enjoying yourself. I didn't really think that this was your kind of thing." Jungwon’s father didn't quite understand what had gone through his son's mind to suddenly want a change of lifestyle. He was sure that within a week, he would receive a call from Jungwon, complaining about how desperately he wanted to come back home.
"Seriously, dad I’ll be fine. I’ve been looking for something like this for awhile, and I think it's good to get away for a month or two. I’ll call you, but not to pick me up." Jungwon replies, and he helps his father haul out all of his luggage from the car. His father mutters a small 'if you say so' under his breath, still not convinced, "That house is where I’m staying, I’ll be back."
Jungwon makes his way to the cottage-like house that he had saw a picture of online. Before knocking on the door, he clears his throat and takes a deep breath. After a few seconds, he finally knocks and he hears shuffling around the house. Soon enough, the door is opening and Jungwon comes face to face with someone.
This was most definitely not the old lady that he had previously had a conversation with, and it definitely wasn't her husband either.
“Oh, hi! You must be Jungwon, nice to meet you, I’m YN. This is my grandma's land, I’ll go get her for you now." You had a sweet smile on your face, eyes sparkling into his. Jungwon tried his best to keep his jaw shut, and he was sure that his irises had formed into love hearts.
"Uh- yeah, yeah, thank you." He finally smiles back at you, and you walk away leaving the door open. He takes the time to investigate what he can see of the inside from where he stood. It was neat and tidy, decorated in a way that can only be described as an old couple. He thought it was adorable, and it was refreshing to see considering he was stuck with the industrial, modernised design at home.
His dad and your grandma arrive at the door at the same time, Jungwon’s father holding the suitcases and the old lady, who jungwon remembered to be called June, was holding a steaming cup of tea in a gorgeous china teacup, "Oh, it's so lovely to finally meet you, dear. We’ve needed another man around here ever since Daniel started getting back problems..."
Jungwon hears you chuckle from the dining table that you had began setting up, so he assumes that Daniel is your grandfather. June and his father greet each other, small talk being made while the suitcases are being brought inside. The leather appearance didn't match the vibe of the house, and Jungwon wondered if his clothing would make him stand out like a sore thumb.
When his father leaves, once again reminding him that he doesn't have to do this, June states that jungwon can get settled in his temporary room until dinner was ready. It was really sweet how they had immediately began treating him as if he had been here for awhile.
He isn't sure if the room is his style, considering that the blankets have a designed on them that resemble cute carrots that are blushing, but it's not that big of a deal. He’s sure that there aren't many men that are willing to do this, and he doesn't want them to spend money on unnecessary items.
He settles himself on the bed, and he pulls his phone out of his pocket to message his friends about how everything was going so far. The bars on the screen aren't exactly high, but it's good enough to send a text.
JUNGWON: hey! just got here, it's cute as hell in here
HEESEUNG: not going soft on us are you??
HEESEUNG: haha, glad you're feeling good abt it so far
JAY: i wish i came with you because riki is driving me fucking insane
JUNGWON: there's a girl here and i didnt know there would be a girl here
RIKI: BRO IS FREAKING OUTTTT‼️‼️‼️
JAY: oh my god i'm going crazy 🤗
Before Jungwon can curse Riki out over text, there's a soft knock of the door. Jungwon makes a great attempt to not stumble over his words when he says 'come in', and he has a soft smile on his face when you open the door. You lean against the door way and return the smile, "Sorry about the bedding, I know it's probably not your kind of thing, it's from when I was a kid."
"Do you live here? It’s gorgeous around here." Jungwon notices that the corners of your lips lift a little more when he compliments the home, and he isn't quite sure why you appear to have some sort of hold on him. You were just a girl who so happened to be extremely pretty, maybe it didn't help that you were really sweet too.
"I’ve lived with my grandparents pretty much my whole life, I don't think I could ever seen myself being anywhere else. You, however, don't look like you come to places like this often." You move yourself over to sit on the bed instead, and Jungwon moves over a little to give you more space, but also so he wouldn't feel his leg brush against yours.
"Well, you'd be right to assume that. I’ve lived in the city since i was a kid so it's really all i've ever known. It’s not very enjoyable though, but my dad seems to really like it. I can't wait until I can move out." Jungwon finds it difficult to look you in the eyes, but he truly tries his best, he doesn't want you to feel as awkward as he does.
"I was just wondering... I’m sure you didn't just come here to help out, it's a getaway too I’m sure. If you'd like, a couple of my friends and I are going out this weekend, and I was wondering if you wanted to come? Just so you don't feel too lonely." You had asked, and he didn't think you actually could have gotten any more perfect. He imagined that your grandma may have pressured you into asking, but you had still asked him.
“I’d really like that, thank you.” The conversation finished at that, and you informed him that dinner would be ready soon before leaving the room. Jungwon flipped himself backwards into the bed, his hands holding his face as emotions rushed through his body.
He wanted a calm getaway. He could not stay calm while he was around you. Yang Jungwon had no idea what he was going to do with himself.

Poor Jungwon had forgot to consider that people who lived on farms, people who owned a bunch of loud animals, would be morning people. Poor Jungwon was not a morning person, and had never been a morning person.
The sound of a rooster outside almost made him jump out of his skin (he had really thought they only made those dramatic waking calls in movies, he was wrong). He picks up his phone to read seven AM, and he gasps in pure distress at the idea of being awake at this time. He would usually sneak in another few hours.
And he would have, but he could hear clanging of pots downstairs, and something smelled so good it was practically dragging him out of the bed. So he does, but he makes sure you sneak his way into the bathroom to make himself more presentable — but he senses that as the days go on, he'll probably care less and less about looking good.
When Jungwon reaches the bottom of the stairs, he sees you all making your way around the kitchen. However, there's two new another additions to the trio which was June, Daniel and YN. There’s a girl and boy sat on the floor, maybe around eight or nine, who are giggling with each other and playing. Jungwon finally speaks, "Good morning."
"Good morning darling! Did you sleep well? You’ll have quite a busy day today." June gives him the sweetest little smile and it truly tugs on Jungwon’s heart strings. You walk past quickly, saying good morning as you rushed around the house, placing a hand on his shoulder as you pass by him. Daniel waves, immediately going back to his newspaper.
"It was really good, thank you. Is there anything that I can help with?" June only laughs and shakes her head, ushering him to take a seat at the table. Jungwon wonders how he feels more comfortable with the family here compared to his own — maybe because they never gave him the opportunity to eat with them, that seemed to be normal here.
There is small talk during the breakfast, and Jungwon learns that Daniel isn't as scary as he looks. They inform jungwon that he'll likely spend the rest of the day with you and the horses and he acts cooly, as if he wasn't about to burst at the thought of getting to know you better.
The day is bright and the sky is clear, and it's nice to acknowledge that there's no grey smoke in the sky, only the fluffy white clouds. When he arrived the day previous, he hadn't given himself much time to really look at his surroundings. he can't help but compare it to home, how free it makes him feel here. The open space is new to him, and though you are stood behind him messing with your boots, he can still feel as if he's by himself.
"Okay! Since it's your first day, I’ll take it easy on you. You can just watch me for today and you can learn the ropes. We mostly just need help with the horses because we recently got a new one." You begin walking away and Jungwon jogs so that he is walking next to you. He can see the horse barn in the distance, as well a few horses rummaging a field of grass, "Wehave a few horses, I teach sometimes. My favourite is Minnie, she's really cute, I think you'll like her too."
"Oh, you're a horse rider? That’s really cool! I wish I could ride a horse... I think I’d just fall right off." You laugh at him and Jungwon’s body feels with pride when he realises — though he tries not to get ahead of himself with jokes, as he'd rather figure out what makes you laugh first.
Point one, when he mentions getting hurt, of course you wouldn't actually laugh if he fell off a horse. He’d hope.
"I can teach you at some point if you want... free of charge, so you better be a natural." You grin at him and he rolls his eyes, hoping the two of you will keep up your playful behaviour. Jungwon enjoys talking to you even if it had happened so often at the moment. You were different from his friends, who were loud and energetic.
"I think we've got enough time for me to learn how to ride a horse, I’m going to be here until the end of August." It was mid-May, so Jungwon knew he would be here for a couple of months. At first, jungwon hadn't been worried that he would get attached to anyone, but you were all so sweet and you had even offered to bring him to meet your friends.
He was already trying to convince himself that the farm wasn't too far away to travel back and forth from.
The two of you make it to the stables, and Jungwon almost finds himself in complete awe. He had been to stables before, but they were never as incredible as yours were, it wasn't difficult to tell that the horses were well looked after, "This way, i’ll introduce you to Honey and Minnie, they're the only ones in their stables right now."
The two horses that you had brought Jungwon to were ethereal. Honey, was well, Honey, and had a long beige mane. Minnie was covered in black and white spots, thought significantly bigger than Honey was. Jungwon hadn’t seen many horses in real life before, but he could tell that these two were well taken care of.
"Unfortunately, there'll be a lack of horse riding today, we just have to take care of them. All the horses have their own days, and this is Honey and Minnie’s. once you know what you're doing, I’ll probably just be leaving you to it in the future. Is it okay if I take your hand?" You ask, and Jungwon is still taking in the previous information when he nods his head.
You softly pull at his hand and he knows that his cheeks are becoming red when the feeling of butterflies decides to appear in his stomach. One after the other, you let Jungwon get used to the two horses by petting them while your hand still rests on his — Jungwon doesn't quite understand why you needed to hold his hand for this, but he isn't complaining.
When you tell Jungwon that it's time for the disgusting part, shivers travel down his spine. The smell when he walks into the actual stable isn't exactly nice, but you seem to have no reaction to it like he does.
You show him all that he needs to know: how to clean out the stable, how to take care of the horses, even the personality between the two horses. He began to realise how educated you were on this, and it only made him feel more attracted to you.
It had taken all day, and when Jungwon got back into his carrot themed bed, he began to question every little thing.
Tumblr media
It was a few days later, and the day that Jungwon would be coming with you to meet your friends. Every part of his body was aching from the day previous and he would have loved to lay in bed all day, but he would not be missing this opportunity.
Jungwon stretches as he leaves the bed, and he notices that the whole house is quiet. He decides to go downstairs, and finds that there is no one around. Soon, he seed the pastel purple post-it note stuck onto the fridge that he had known wasn't there before — 'We have all gone to the stalls around the corner, we didn't want to wake you up so early. We’ll be back before ten, June.'
"Ah... that's a bummer, I was kind of looking forward to buying stuff at those stalls. I guess I can always just go another time." Jungwon turns on his heel and looks around the open spaced house, he thought this would be a good time to take a better look around.
His feet take him into the living room, where he had been in for a few moments when he had first arrived. It’s lit with natural lighting and has minimal colour, apart from a green pattern blanket over an armchair and a few fluffy green pillows scattering the sofas.
What begins to catch Jungwon’s eye is the collection of framed pictures sprinkled across the top of a cabinet on the opposite side of the room. In his lonesomeness, Jungwon picks up a picture frame to take a look at it closely.
You, June and Daniel are all in the picture, as well as the two twins, though everyone is significantly younger. The twins are just babies, so he imagines this picture was around six or seven years ago. You are around fourteen years old, and he thinks you look absolutely adorable. Your smile was just as bright as it is now, and you seem to have been just as sweet.
As he places the frame back down, he hears his phone ringing from his back pocket. He sighs, imagining it was his father attempting to get him back home, but he was happily surprised to see a call from his best friend Heeseung, "Hey! i've missed you."
"Hey buddy, I’ve missed you too, everyone has. How are you doing? Found anymore pretty ladies?" Jungwon can hear Heeseung’s teasing tone through the phone, and he rolls his eyes.
At home, the people were difficult to talk to. They weren't kind, or helpful, or filled with hospitality — they tended to be rude and off-putting, blinded by their own riches to care for other people. Somehow, Jungwon and his friends had avoided that ideal, so they were closer than ever. So, Jungwon had never gone through the efforts to find a partner.
"Very funny. No, you know I’ve only been here for like a week. I’ve barely even left the farm. Actually, YN asked me to come with her to meet some of her friends today." Jungwon replies, and he starts to wonder outside and takes a seat on the swinging chair on the decking.
"Really? Don’t go leaving us all back at home, the boys and I were thinking that we could come and visit you next month once you've settled in, though we don't want to intrude on anything." If anything, jungwon wished that his friends would come now.
He can't help but feel a little lost without them, and he wishes that they could have come with him from the beginning. They were all busy people, the oldest having their own business to attend to and Riki was still making his way through college. by next month, they'd likely be more free and Jungwon would be more comfortable.
"I’ll never leave you all, you're my best friends. I’d love if you came down next month, I’ll need some familiar faces." For about an hour, Jungwon and Heeseung find themselves talking about what had happened in the last two days, until you and your family had come back, "I’m gonna have to go, I’ll talk to you again soon."
Jungwon is very anxious once he is in the car with you.
"You don't need to look so nervous, Jungwon. They’re all cool people, I wouldn't be friends with them if they were anything but that." You’re driving down the streets of your town, and it's reaching about five PM, but since it's may the sun is starting to stay out later so it's still bright as it could be, "Are you... Are you worried they might see you differently because you aren't from around here?"
"I mean, I guess so, yeah. In my city, they probably wouldn't treat you too nicely. Not that I’d do the same, obviously. I just don't want your friends to think that of me." Jungwo’s face is resting in his palm as he rests and looks out of the car window, so he doesn't notice the sad and worried look that you give him for a moment.
"The same thing goes for you then. They know I wouldn't be friends with someone if they weren't a good person. This wasn't a pity invite, no matter how you might think it. I really like you." Something in your stomach feels weird when you say those words, and it does the same to Jungwon too, though it does encourage him to look at you and smile.
Within ten minutes, you've reached a field area that you had talked about before. You mentioned how this was the spot you and your friends liked to go when the weather was nice, because it seemed to be the only patch of grass that would get cut.
"Hey, hey! Jungwon, these are my friends. Sunghoon, Sunoo, Yunjin, Jake and Sakura. Friends, this is Jungwon, I told you about him recently." You introduce him to your friends and Jungwon realises he hasn't even planned what he was going to say. So, he sticks with a simple 'hi' as they all usher him to sit down on the blanket with them.
"God, it's so nice to finally meet you. She hasn't shut up about someone coming down to help of the farm for once. You’ve been doing amazing, by the way." this is Yunjin, a blonde haired girl who seems to sit in confidence, she gives a look to you and Jungwon once again doesn't notice you rolling your eyes — he hasn't been very observant today.
"So, heard you came from the city. I did too, I only moved here about a year ago." Jungwon learns that him and Jake were actually from the same city, and all the nerves that had settled themselves in his chest slowly faded away as he got to know the group of friends better.
Somehow, they had managed to talk to each other as if they were old friends who were getting to know each other again, learning about each other for a second time since it was as if they could read each other perfectly. Jungwon knows that his friends and your friends would get along well, and he waits for the day that they can become one.
"I think me and Sunghoon are gonna get going now, he has some stupid curfew on his car so he can't drive past ten PM. We’ll see you both later!" Sakura and Sunghoon stand up and begin leaving, though Yunjin, Jake and Sunoo had left earlier on. That left only Jungwon and you on the field alone at nine twenty seven PM.
The sudden silence was comforting, it allowed Jungwon’s jaw to stop aching from laughing and talking all day. For a few minutes, the both of you sit there staring at the stars, only looking at each other when the other was entranced by the image in the sky.
"I had fun today, thank you." You speak and Jungwon almost flinches, mostly because the sound of your voice has frightened him from the quiet, but also because he wasn't quite sure what you were thanking him for. He should be the one thanking you, shouldn't he?
"What are you thanking me You’re you're the one who invited me out here." You and Jungwon both turn to look at each other, this is the first time you had made eye contact since the two of you were left alone, but it wasn't the first time that you had admired each other, "In fact, I had fun today too, and I’m thanking you for that.”
"Because... I don't know, I just wanted to thank you. You’ve been nothing but kind and helpful to everyone. Last year, we had a problem with someone who came to help. She wouldn't do any work and I was so fatigued everyday trying to save her ass from getting in trouble. This year, you came along and even though you’ve only been here for a few days you’ve helped us so much. You’re like a breathe of fresh air.”
The speech quite literally leaves Jungwon with no words. He looks at you and something has shifted inside of him, and he truly feels like he has a problem now. It’s only been a week or so, and he’s already completely infatuated with you and your glowing personality. He returns a smile, and when your hand slips into his softly, the both of you continue to stare at the stars, just for a little while.
Tumblr media
The horse is very big, in fact Jungwon thinks that it might be taller than him, and it's starting him down with it's big brown eyes. He knows that Minnie is used to him now and has actually taken a large liking to him (that's what you had told him, though he doesn't quite understand how you know because all the horses have acted the same), but it still doesn't stop him from being terrified since this is his first time on a horse.
He rolls his eyes when turns around to see you laughing at him, tears in your eyes from the scene taking place in front of you. For some reason, his constant reluctance to get on the horse even though he has wanted a lesson, was absolutely hilarious to you, "Wonnie, come on, you're overreacting. I’ll even help you get on, here."
You had gained a habit over the last two weeks of calling Jungwon 'Wonnie'. now, if anyone else has started giving him this nickname, he would have been fine. Your, and now his friends, had picked up on this habit now and he didn't mind it at all, it was cute. When it was coming from your mouth? He might as well just get on one knee there and then.
"You can't laugh at me for being scared to get on this absolute beast, no offence Minnie. I’ve never been on a horse before!" Jungwon whines and you only ignore him, taking a step forward to help him onto Minnie.
"Here. Put one foot into the stirrup, and then stand on my hand. I’ll give you a boost. I know you're about to complain about getting my hand dirty with your shoes, I can tell you I don't give a shit." With hesitance, he puts his foot into your hands and you push him up onto the horse, and he wobbles a little when he managed to get on.
He’s been on rollercoasters before, he's climbed mountains before, but somehow this feels like it's the highest he's ever been. Maybe it's because there's no belt to keep him protected, or the fact he wasn't on his own two feet, but this was terrifying, "You know what, I’m not too sure about this. how do I get off?"
"Oh Won, stop being a big baby. You’re already up there, look I’m holding the reins. She’s well-trained, she won't move until you or I signal her too. I’ll keep hold until you want me to let go. Hold the reins firmly, sit up straight. When you want Minnie to move, press your heel into her side, but not too hard. I’ll keep hold."
"Okay, okay. This feels mean, this doesn't hurt her right?" You make sure to reassure him that the horse is fine, and after five minutes Minnie is finally moving. Jungwon begins to enjoy it, he no longer fears the height of the horse, "You can let go."
With one last look at Jungwon, no words are spoken when his eyes are filled with certainty on this decision. So, you allow yourself to let go and leave everything else up to Jungwon. The field you are in is small, so it doesn't give Minnie an opportunity to run off, possibly hurting him in the process.
You are quick to learn that Jungwon seems to catch on easily, and within minutes you start to consider getting him in on some equestrian shows (maybe the basic children ones though, he wasn't that good).
"Oh my god, Won are you sure you've never done this before? Most people don't have a horse trotting around so quickly, especially not with this much control. I think you're just lying to me so you can spend more time with me." You hadn't meant any harm in your comment, seeing it as some banter between you and a friend.
In that moment, Jungwon had almost fallen off Minnie as a blush crept onto his cheeks. It wasn't like you had actually caught him in a lie, he had never been on a horse before, but in a way this was an opportunity for him to spend more time with you outside of the work he had agreed to do.
He wasn't sure how long he had been on that horse for, but it was much longer than he had intended, and it was beginning to become irritating just being there. he knew that this particular skill wasn't his forte and he likely wouldn't be attempting to ride a horse again — especially not Minnie, she was too tall.
“I’m simply just good at everything I do, I think you might just be a little jealous.” And for the hundredth time, you roll your eyes at Jungwon.
Tumblr media
Officially, Jungwon has been on the farm for just over a month. It’s the middle of June, and unfortunately his friends haven't had the time to travel yet.
Overall, the month had been almost as he had imagined. It was almost the perfect break that he needed. He’d learnt a myriad of new skills, made lots of new friends and was making happy memories everyday.
So, what could possibly bothering him so much that it had ruined his getaway? You.
Realistically, you hadn't intended to do anything wrong, and you hadn't actually done anything wrong. You had just been yourself, and Jungwon’s brain couldn't help but question his true thoughts about you.
Yes, he knows that he had always thought you were pretty, and he though you were an amazing person. That hadn't changed, not at all. What had changed, was that the lingering touches and flirtatious banter was genuinely beginning to bother him.
He had seen you act similar with your friends. You had always argued and flirted with all of them, and it had never bothered him. This was just the way you were, but he couldn't help but notice that there was more longing within him, how everything seemed to last just those few seconds longer.
Though the rest of the group had been oblivious to the lasting tension between the two of you, Sunghoon and Yunjin had been more observant over Jungwon. The two had become so bored of the antics, and we're waiting for you both to explain how you felt.
They had to give one of you a push, and Jungwon seemed to be much less stubborn.
SUNGHOON: hey won! was just wondering if you wanted to go to the diner w me and yunjin
SUNGHOON: everyone else is a little busy but i know today is a free day for you!
JUNGWON: oh yeah for sure
JUNGWON: you don't mind picking me up right? yn usually takes me
SUNGHOON: yeah, course
SUNGHOON: be there soon
In the next hour, Jungwon, Yunjin and Sunghoon sat in the diner with their good and milkshakes. Jungwon seems to notice that something is a little off between the two of them, and his eyebrows furrow when he realises the two of them have been looking between each other while hesitantly attempting to speak, "Why are you both being weird? You haven't even touched your food. What’s going on?"
"We-uh-... I thought this would be a lot easy to say out loud..." Sunghoon trembles over every letter, leaving Yunjin to roll her eyes and poke at her loaded fries with her fork. In this moment, Jungwon starts to think that the two of them are actually together; thought it was quite the opposite.
"We know that you have a crush on YN! You’re so incredibly obvious it hurts that she can't tell. As well as that, we think she definitely has a crush on you too, we’ve known her long enough to tell." Yunjin’s outburst leaves Jungwon and Sunghoon with dropped jaws, but for two entirely different reasons, "And don't even try to act like you don't!"
"Well- no! It’s just that- fine! Yeah, yeah I do really like her. Why are you telling me something I already know?" It’s Jungwon’s time to put his burger down and pretend that it isn't there, because suddenly he didn't have an appetite and the smell of food in the area made him feel like he was about to throw up.
Yunjin and Sunghoon look at each other again. She purses her lips and Sunghoon looks around the room as if he's trying to avoid Jungwon’s eyes that are wide and shocked, "We, we were thinking that we should encourage you to ask her out. We are, like, 99% sure she likes you back."
"And! If she does say no, you'll be living so far away it won't be awkward!" Sunghoon speaks as if that was a good thing, but the drop of Jungwon’s lips and the slap he receives on the back of his head from Yunjin speaks otherwise, "Ouch?! I’m just speaking the truth."
"Your truth is bullshit! He’d still be coming down to see us all anyway! Listen, Won, this is obviously completely up to you, we aren't pushing you to ask her out if you really don't want to- but! We think it would be worth a shot, the rest of the group does too. Have a think about it."
And that's exactly what Jungwon does. He spends the whole day questioning wether this would he right or wrong, wether this would test your friendship or take it to another level.
He makes his decision as you arrive home that he would do it. Though Sunghoon’s words had stung, they had been true. He would be far away if you had rejected him, and it wouldn’t be often that he would he seeing you.
But it ended up to be so much worse than he could have ever imagined.
He waited, waited and waited until you had arrived home. In fact, he’d been pacing around the barn for about half an hour because he wanted to tell you how he felt outside of the house. When he heard what he had thought was your car park up, he almost jumped out of his skin.
He’d peeked out to see what you had been doing in the moment — and his heart felt like it had been crushed by your own hands, the ones that appeared to be slotted into another mans hands.
What made it even worse? You had seen Jungwon in the barn just as this was happening.
Tumblr media
The rain felt nice, Jungwon thought it was made for him in the moment. The way it fell down on him made him understand that this was real, and he genuinely believed that he was falling in love with you.
Within the next week, his friends would be turning up, and Jungwon couldn't even bare to look at you because he didn't want to ruin your blooming friendship since he couldn't help but fall for you. In his eyes, he had one week to get over you and be your friend.
Only friends.
He’s been sat in the rain for so long now, that the droplets are beginning to drip down the tip of his nose and his eyelashes. He was sure that when he would stand up, his jeans would be covered in mud. It doesn’t bother him though, because he's got more important things on his mind.
"What am I going to do with you, Wonnie." Your sweet voice appears from behind him, and for a second he believes he is just hearing you in his head. You take a seat next to him, despite the hard rain, and your head falls softly onto his drenched shoulder, "You’re gonna get one hell of a cold if you sit outside moping around."
“I think I have a valid reason to be moping around." He still worried that anything he says will come across as strange, so he holds everything back. His shoulder tingles underneath your head, for once every little touch you place upon him burns.
It hurts, it hurts so much. Yet, even though your touch left invisible scars upon his body in that moment, he would let you burn every inch of skin on his body if that was what you desired. This month had showed him that if there was one person he would let break him down, and it was you.
"You know, I’ve always wanted to dance in the rain." You smile and lift your head to look towards Jungwon, hoping that he would return your gaze. After a loud sigh, he looks at you with his soft eyes, "Will you, Yang Jungwon, take this dance?"
He hopes that you aren't messing around with the way he feels, he hopes that this moment is as real as how he thinks about you. He hopes that the pleasurable sparks that he feels when your hand slips once more into his, feeling so significantly different than usual, that you feel it too.
Oh, how you do.
When the two of you stand up, your hands leave his, but it doesn't leave him in disappointment. They make their way up his arms and find themselves resting around his neck, while his own are nestled on your waist.
"Don’t you think it's a little awkward to dance without music?" He isn't sure why he decided to ruin the moment with such a silly question, maybe the nerves, or the small percentage that you were only doing this to make him feel better rather than to admit your feelings for him.
"I don't find anything to be awkward when I’m with you. never with you, Wonnie. You know, what you saw didn't mean anything. He was dropping me off from a job I was doing, he'd asked me out when we got to the door and what you saw was me telling him that there were no feelings. You know why? because I’ve been waiting for you to stop being so shy about asking me out."
"Oh... well, then. I’m sorry for making assumptions. I’s just spoken to Sunghoon and Yunjin who suggested asking you out, I’d i'd really worked myself up over it. I guess, I was just nervous it was an excuse to not do it. I really, really like you." Due to your open confession, Jungwon feels that he no longer has to hold back. He doesn't have to pretend anymore.
His forehead rests so comfortably on yours, and your left hand falls to rest on his neck rather than around his shoulders. When your nose bumps against his, the rain isn't there anymore. This burning feeling that you had left on his skin only moments ago began to tickle.
“Is it okay if I kiss you?" He speaks, and you only giggle and open your eyes to look up at him through your lashes. You respond, quite boldly, by pressing yourself against him for the first time.
Forever and always.
