Forgive me if this was already answered, I only watched what OVAS has dubbed, but, uh, how does crossbreeding WORK? Like, how is Choccy part fire-type?

Choccy is part firetype because his mother, Medea, is a Braixen, a fire type.

However just because he’s *part* fire type doesn’t change his actual typing. Unless his genetics could imply his Tera type is fire but the comic was made before Gen Nine so we’ll ignore that.

Choccy’s genetics allow him to build a strong tolerance to spicy food, and a stronger resistance to the heat of his own electricity, hence why he only gets dizzy from using his electric attacks rather than getting hurt by them like the common Pichu

Pokémon crossbreeding in the Cain and Mabel universe really varies depending on Pokémon species and the luck of the punnet square.

Choccy and Mabel only receive a single feature from the other pokemon line they are not from (Mabel’s pikachu ear tips and Choccy’s chest fluff) and some perks like Choccy’s aforementioned tolerance.

If the Pokémon species were more compatatble. Eg. two normal type cat pokemon, or two dark type dog pokemon, the Pokémon would have more prominent features and traits from both parents, including the potential to be a mix of types.

First of all, good news everyone, OVAS released the first Cain and Mabel Dub

Secondly, we apologize for the delay in the next page of Cain and Mabel, our artist has been working very hard to get them finished (this arc is a big one). After Page 95 is finished, there will be a production pause as I will be visiting my fiancé in America from September 15th to October 1st. Production will resume after the holiday
