It’s Almost Cup of China!

the turn in date is just around the corner! Quite literally!! 

Remember to submit your works to the Shall We Skate!!! Exchange collection on Ao3 at some point tomorrow. Several people have asked for extentions, and we’ve contacted you privately with our answers. If anyone else needs to speak with the mods before the deadline, hop int he ask box. 

As a reminder: the collection will go live on April 28th, so you can still do last minute edits between tomorrow and then. Creators will then be revealed on the 30th!

Hi, sorry I still find the system quite confusing after your thorough explanation. It's great, but I sometimes just have a difficulty understanding stuff, sorry! ;;;;; Uh, I just want to ask if I can ask for someone to beta my work before submitting-- prossibly from someone who's also in this exchange?? I'm not really sure if it's something that's available here (?) but I want my fic to be as great as it can be before giving it to my partner? Thank you!

It’s no problem! We don’t mind clarifying questions for you.

Yes, you can ask someone to beta your work. I personally recommend a friend who’s a writer, but we have a Google group for our beta readers where works can be sent out to be claimed by a beta or you can ask one of us, the mods, to take a look. Just let us know what you prefer and we’ll work something out.

Yes! Anything done above and beyond doing one prompt from your assigned person counts as a treat and will be posted to the collection as such. Additionally, treats don’t have to just be from prompts provided by your assigned person, but can be from any prompts that were posted to the gift exchange. Let us Mods know if you do write a treat and we’ll set up the sub collection for treats. 

Just keep in mind that you still have to do your assigned prompt within the time allowed for the exchange

You only have to fill one of the prompts. 

The multiple requests gives you, and anyone else who also received an assignment with multiple prompts, an opportunity to have a choice at what you’d like to fill out in case there are prompts that don’t particularly interest you.

It’s been a rough night wrestling with AO3, but we did it. We did have to change tags around on about five entries so that AO3 would accept the matches, but they were in accordance with what those participants wanted. We did not change the wording of your requests at all. Still, if you take issue with the changes, please contact us and we’ll talk it out. 

Buckle up, everyone! Trust us, the time will fly like no other. We’ll be checking in to make sure how everyone’s doing. Let us know if you need a hand and good luck! Have fun!

And we’re so proud of you guys!!! This is amazing to see and we’re so happy to have you; we really didn’t expect to get this many people, so thank you from the bottom of our hearts. 

We’ve been going through the matching process on AO3 for a while now, but due to first time exchange running, it’s taking a bit longer than we thought. Because we thought the problem might be that we had an uneven number of people, Mod B dropped out to make sure that the uneven number wasn’t the problem. 

(It turned out not to be that, but Mod B starts classes next week, so no big deal. Frees up enough time to beta for all of you if you need it and pinch hit if need be.) 

We have twenty of the matches generated, so we’re just working out the kinks for the remaining four. Once the assignments are set up, we will post here, so keep an eye out for them tonight. Thanks again for signing up! We’re so excited to do this with you.

Hi, Tumblr! 

Do you like Yuri!!! On Ice? Do you like creating fan art and writing fanfiction? Do you like getting presents? Do you like making people happy with your creations? Do you want to procrastinate on other things but feel productive about it? 

Have we got a match for you! 

Shall We Skate!!! is a gift exchange for fans of the anime Yuri!!! On Ice. We feel we’ve been given a tremendously rich canon with wonderful characters and stories to explore and this is a way of showing our love for the show. It’s also a great way to get new works into a fandom (fanfiction, fanart) because we’ve had good experiences with it and we’d really like to see it last long enough for a second season. 

Here’s our rules and our FAQ if you’d like a better sense of what we’re about. As the banner provided by our very own @reidavidson says, sign ups for the exchange open March 10th and works are due on April 21st. If you’d like to do something a little more low key, though, we’re looking for beta readers or pinch hitters and you don’t have to be signed up as part of the exchange to write treats as well! There’s more info on that in the FAQ. If we’ve piqued your interest, save the date and tell your friends! We’d absolutely love to have you.

hiii to the mods again, i have a question about the sign up form. for prompt url, what does it mean and what do i have to put there?

Good question! 

Something we strongly urge you as a participant to do to help your recipient is to write an exchange letter. In addition to including your requests, you can give a more detailed rundown of your likes, dislikes, preferred pairings/tropes, and any triggers you might have. The Prompt URL is there so you have a place to put the link to your letter, where your recipient can view it. We’ve also created a Google Spreadsheet to archive them all.

However, you don’t have to write a letter and if you choose not to, you can leave it blank. Hope this helps!

Sign-up Guide!

Follow Mod A as she signs up for Shall We Skate!!!

Now I’ve put a link to our profile page on some asks with instructions to click “open” next to “sign-up”, here is what I mean:

After you click “Open” (or click on “Sign-up Form” over there on the left). you’ll be brought to a page that has where you can write up your requests and your offer. 

These are the first three categories, and are rather “what’s on the tin”. 

Fandom: you need to put in “Yuri!!! on Ice (Anime)”. 

Characters: you can either put in specific characters, like I have here with naming Yuuri and Minako, or you can click “any character” to fulfill the requirement. 

Relationship: you are allowed to leave this blank, click “any relationship”, or put in the main relationships that are at the center of your request, if there are any. 

Additional Tags: Feel free to leave this blank or click Any additional tags.

Category: select the category that best fits with your request idea. Here I have clicked “Gen”. but you can also click Any Category. 

Rating: pick the rating that best fits your request idea, or click any rating. 

Archive warnings: these are some basic warnings that can be applied to a request depending on what it will be dealing with. 

Prompt url: here’s where you can put a link to your exchange letter, if you have one, or to somewhere that has a more detailed description of your request than what is allowed in the available characters in the description.

Description: Here’s where you put what you’d like to request! It can be as detailed or general as you wish. Your lovely mods encourage you to leave enough wiggle room in your request for your partner’s imagination to flourish, but we also want to see that everyone gets what they would like to see, so find the happy medium that accomplishes both. If you find that you don’t have enough room, then feel free to use the prompt url box to link over to your more detailed description. 

In Offers you’ll find the same categories as requests, but instead of putting in what you’d like to receive in your gift, this is where you put what you are able and/or willing to do. 

Finally you hit submit! and that’s how you sign up for Shall We Skate!!!
