I don't know what it's worth of anything and writing this is pretty leftfield perhaps, it's been years. Decades. Motherfucking decades. But I guess there's a little bit of us left where and when we made the most impact on a person. Tiny bits of glitter. None of this new biodegradable stuff either. The glitter that sticks for good and you give up trying to pick off your cheek or the back of your hand or wherever it's decided it lives now. I'm torturing a metaphor and it's because kids we went to school with stay that way. So B*** is always in maths. Sorry B***. I mean he's a million other places, tall, maybe a little bent to a side because backpack slung on one shoulder, there's a knit blue jumper - maybe a little frayed at the cuff. He's in the hallways passing by, or in year eight on the hill above the quad, and then in year ten above the oval. Outside ANU bar in year twelve, and Tom B and him and me holding hands in a circle. Golden hair and band shirts and then I don't know, then he slipped out of view. But the bit of glitter is maths in year 8 I think it was. And not paying attention (that would mostly be me doing that) and reciting RATM lyrics at above a whisper level daring (creepy) Mr Cox to hear, and being told about You Am I for the first time. My favourite band for 28 years now. It's a thing with existing - losing people. Drifting or death. And it's horrible when it's someone who'll always be a part of that most sparkling time, our youth. But bits of us do shine on. Stuck forever.

I have a question that I hope isn’t too weird…there are two Harry Potter fics on ao3 by the same author that I’m obsessed with but they’ve orphaned their account so I can’t find their other works. I think their tumblr back in the day was something like seefin?? The fics are your left life and electric life. Do you know of any other fics by that author? The reason I’m asking you is because I happened to be looking at the comments on electric light and recognized one by you.

Hi Anon. Sorry, I'm not on Tumblr much at the moment so apologies if this is a super late reply, but not a strange question at all. Seefin is an amazing creative human and it's a gift that they left their fics for us to read. I've added all the fics I could remember as theirs to my bookmarks and makes with a 'Sf' Most should be in the most recent bookmarks, and there are two on about page 3 of my bookmarks. I'm not 100% on what etiquette is about sharing orphaned fics, I'm a bit out of touch with fandom tbh, so I'm not directly linking sorry! But if you can't find something please feel free to message me!

Harry is the Saviour of the Wizarding World with nice forearms and too-large hands who suddenly starts turning up in the Ministry gym when Draco’s there, and sitting on Draco’s desk, and asking for Draco’s assistance on cases.

There was a part of Draco that he hated. He couldn’t let go of it fully; it was the part of him that allowed him to wear his placid mask of unconcerned nonchalance in public―but it was also the part of him that allowed him to have hope, allowed him to still admit his talents and masteries.

Yes hello, here I am again with another Erised rec because everyone and their mom deserve to check this fun case fic with Auror Partners goodness, thirsty Draco, smitten Harry and hands down some of the best written flirting I’ve seen in fic. I’m not even kidding, every come on line made my jaw drop in delight, the way the dialogue goes from case talk to sexy teasing is phenomenal! I couldn’t stop smiling at their cute word game, the way Draco double checks himself all the time and feels slightly intimidated by Harry’s bold advances but then gives it back just as good. It’s such a joy to watch!

Beyond those deliciously jaw dropping bits of sexual tension that made me both smile and salivate, I’m hopelessly in love with their voices: down and out Draco but make him proud and sassy, please and thank? This take is absolutely captivating, and for all his long-time standing crush he holds his own against this casual and smooth, confident Harry really well. Their dynamics are so charming, a mix of growing respect & attraction, and I love that they compliment each other not only in banter but also in the field (Harry’s instinct + Draco’s brain is such a power combo). It was lovely to see this closed off Draco - so very relatable, wanting to remain invisible and safe - get well-deserved recognition at work, and slowly open up to Harry embracing the vulnerability that comes with it.

And what can I say about their glorious get together aka hot office snogging? They’re so into each other I wanted to scream, and Harry’s dirty talk made my knees weak omfg he’s so feral and wanton, btw have I mentioned lacy pants because we were just talking about this last night and yes 🔥 (on that note I LOVE the conversation about objectification this kink inspired in that scene, really well done). Lastly I’m utterly in love with Pansy & Astoria, they’re the best friends Draco could ask for and their dynamics with him are sweet and hilarious. I had so much fun reading this case fic, the story flows perfectly, it’s charming and entertaining. And despite the light tone, there’s an important and sensitive portrayal of themes like anxiety and self-deprecation that I really appreciated, and made this fic all the more special to me. Go forth and enjoy the ride!

Summary:

Draco's the most unlikely Auror recruited to the department in at least three centuries. Ostracised and unwanted, he's been on paperwork duties for the three years since he finished training.

Harry is the Saviour of the Wizarding World with nice forearms and too-large hands who suddenly starts turning up in the Ministry gym when Draco’s there, and sitting on Draco’s desk, and asking for Draco’s assistance on cases.

When Draco’s charm work and penchant for Muggle crosswords are helpful for a case, Potter co-opts him as a partner, and Draco's insulated, organised, hiding-in-plain-sight existence is stripped away.

#my boobs are sore sore for about a week prior #like cant even brash against them sore its so awkward and annoying #i get super emo about two days before #once as a teeneager i started bawling during an episode of neighbours and not just cos it was terrible #during periods i get an average amount of pain #oh! migraines when ovulation #like proper migraine migraine once a month #and now for some reason the last three periods horrid stomach hard and sore trapped gas?!? #never had this before and it hits on day two. #i hate #tw: period #the boobs and the migraine is the worst proper interfering with daily life stuff
