Shopping is an important and meaningful occupation for many individuals that has become more challenging due to the Coronavirus.  People who are 60 years old or older may be more vulnerable to becoming seriously ill from Coronavirus, and it may be challenging to continue these occupations (like shopping) while avoiding large crowds in order to stay safe.  This article speaks about several supermarket chains that are holding open hours that are exclusive to senior citizens so that they may shop in a safer, less crowded environment.

Here are some tips for coping with the impact of the coronavirus. It’s a really challenging time for a lot of us right now, but we’re all in this together!
Self Care: Lockdown Edition
Stick to a schedule. Not a detailed routine (unless that's the kind of thing that helps you) but at least keep roughly the same sleep- and mealtimes everyday. Set an alarm if you have to
Move. If you're still able to go out on a walk, do that (but make sure to stay away from other people!). If you have a backyard, go there. If you have a balcony, go there. If you don't have any of these options, open a window and work out a bit
What are the things you've wanted to do for a while but you never had enough time at home? Did you want to finish that book, sew that bag, play that video game, learn that language? Use your time for that!
Check up on your family and friends every once in a while. If you're more extroverted, find ways to socialize regularly via phone, internet, "balcony parties" etc
The right amount of news: If you're watching/reading/listening to the news all day, you'll be stressed. If you never do, you won't be informed (e.g. about any new regulations where you live)

Hey! I heard of Occupational Therapy before but I'm quite sure what it is. Can Occupational Therapy help me get a job?
Hello!
OTs can help you get a job if that is something you find meaningful. Occupational Therapy encompasses many things. In short, OT helps people complete tasks and responsibilities that bring meaning to their life. These activities can include things like showering, brushing your hair, cooking, using the toilet independently, raising children, even sexual activity. OTs help their clients overcome barriers that are in the way of them living their life to their personal definition of function and fulfillment.
