⚔️ 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗺! Midnight Smoke
Weapon (dagger), rare (requires attunement) ___
This thin stiletto is sheathed within the barrel of a star-filled medwakh pipe. The dagger itself has a hollow handle and mouthpiece that connects to the rest of the pipe, allowing you to smoke the pipe using the dagger while it’s sheathed. You gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
A small, dark ember ignites at the center of the dagger’s blade daily at dusk. You can use an action to sheathe the dagger (if it isn’t already) and breathe deeply from the pipe. When you do, a thick black smoke emanates from the pipe, which you can exhale in front of you in a 10-foot cone. Each creature within the cone must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or be blinded until the end of your next turn. The ember is then extinguished, and the smoke vanishes. If you slay a Small or larger hostile creature with the dagger, the dagger’s dark ember is relit and this property can be used again. ___

My character directly after casting any cleric spell he hasn’t cast before “Stacks what spell did I just cast?”
I guess it’s genetic (in reference to my character becoming a cleric on accident ((see casting sleep by crying))
People expecting me, the aasimar, to be against killing our pantheon of gods but instead I’m just like “we’re only killing ours right? Cause I really like the dragon god of hope she’s super nice. But like. The 7 on our continent can fuck right off.”
Wake up bestie new dnd inside jokes just dropped!

Dnd hot take
Party with multiple/all party members being able to heal in small ways > party member with a dedicated healer
Only party I’ve ever gotten to lv 20 with had table fighter who could self heal minorly, a rogue with incredible medicine checks, an alchemy hobby allowing for potions, and an item that can heal over time, and a ranger (me) with the magic initiate feat to boost my range on healing spells
(still think Ranger should just have healing word. It’s a ranged healing spell. It’s in the name. How are you gonna make my only quick healing option touch range when I’m 60 feet out providing cover fire for our tank??)
Between the three of us we couldn’t get anyone from deaths door to over half health but that mattered way less than making sure we weren’t confined staying within my movement range to allow for constant “cure wounds” casting.
It freed my character up to make the most of his class, I like playing ranger for its combat versatility. I was a healer, archer, and beastly dual wielder in close combat, and able to switch modes on a dime. And when my party members have their own failsafes to get off deaths door I don’t have to worry nearly as much about conserving action economy. We really got screwed over in a few early fights because I had to heal-bot the rogue (who is the definition of a glass cannon) and couldn’t get enough hits in to outpace the enemies damage.
So we grouped up and decided to search for items the rogue could use to heal themself and asked the item magic ship owner as well as the local herbalist for help. And ever since we’ve had much better party synergy!
Enemies may be smart enough to take out a healer, but if every character can heal themself, even just a little, it takes a lot of pressure off whichever caster would fill that role. It works so well that when we hit lv20 with plenty of plot left to go I multi classed into cleric without even considering healing as a purpose. I wanted the utility spells more than anything!
(Also FYI strength build swarmkeeper ranger + twilight cleric. BASED. Easily my favorite spell list I’ve ever played. You want to heal? You want to summon shit tons of allies? You want to just stop being perceived? You wanna do bonkers amounts of damage? You wanna make people dance randomly? I CAN DO IT ALL)

25 Lawless City Adventure Seeds
by Robb at readytorole.com
An entire guild of assassins that was popular to hire has been found dead, and the only clue is the mark of a rival guild. Some see this is a challenge to the other guilds, but the guild whose mark was found maintains that they are being framed.
A merchant beckons all who come near to do a job for him and steal back what is rightfully his. A rival merchant in town has possession of a darksteel crown, supposedly an heirloom of the first merchant’s lineage.
The Bandit King has made it known that he is looking for a new right hand man after his fourth in three months faces public execution. The public are all clamoring for the role despite the bleak outlook of any who sign up, but why?
A fight has broken out in the trade district that is causing lost sales and a lot of damage; two alchemists toss exploding vials at one another claiming the other stole their recipe for them.
Many of the mages in the city keep their establishments within pocket dimensions that close when they leave, but lately even they have been subject to theft and they want to figure out who and how.
Usually the gladiator pit is a good source of entertainment, but the last few combatants did not seem like they were in there by choice. While there are no laws in the city preventing it, there is already a steady stream of volunteers who want to test their mettle and the need for captives is nonexistent.
A merchant has recently come to town with a caravan full of caged monsters. Many of the ones capable of speech threaten the merchant and any who come near repeatedly, although the merchant maintains that they are harmless.
Two rival bars have been getting their patrons drunk and sending them to the other bar to fight and cause damage. This is causing so much damage to the property and people involved that the other patrons are wondering what could cause their rivalry to come to this.
A band of mercenaries have returned to town after successfully slaying an exotic creature, and in tow have one of its enormous eggs. They want to sell it for profit, but some druids were overheard plotting to steal it.
A new form of undead flesh golem was created by a necro-alchemist who wanted to achieve the best of living and undead parts in one creature. However, they did not account for the madness that would overcome the monster and allow them to break free of the necro-alchemists control.
A noble of a nearby noble house was brought into the city in captivity and auctioned off. The bids keep going higher between his own house and that of a rival house that would see to his end.
A thieves guild starts a local children’s chapter to ensure that they are better as adult thieves, but the children keep getting injured and locals are unsure of how to handle them when they get caught.
A group of doppelgangers offer their services to kill and impersonate anyone for an extended period of time, and the only clue that they have been hired is that they themselves disappear for some time. They went missing last week.
The local farmers withhold crops due to being looked down upon and pushed around by the other trades. They are threatening to poison their own crops and cattle if they are not taken seriously, and the loss of food source significantly hurts the city’s independence.
A greater demon has taken up residence in the city, openly trading favors and power for souls. The soul can be that of the buyer, or the demon sells empty soul-flasks that can capture the souls of the freshly slain for trade.
The catacombs have been freshly ransacked by amatuer graverobbers despite warnings from the more experienced, and now undead are slowly shambling out. The Bandit King’s guards can’t be bothered to go down and take a look or potentially stop the undead, and others are afraid to.
Days after a new casino opened, its entire vault was robbed overnight without a trace. The owner is offering a reward for any clues about who might be behind the caper.
A local madman has died and in his will left his estate to any who could claim it. What he forgot to mention is that his entire estate is booby-trapped, and many have come out severely injured or have not returned at all.
A cult is openly recruiting for a future attack on lawful settlement as they need positive energy to feed to their god. When asked who this god is, they respond by showing a single, tiny newt that their leader keeps in her pocket.
Graffiti is showing up around the city, and it supposedly points to hidden treasure buried throughout. After one of the clues turned out true, riots have broken out as others race to try deciphering and finding the rest of the treasure.
A new drug has hit the streets that transforms the taker into a random object or animal. The more you take, the longer and stranger the transformation. As of right now, a man has been turned into a table for a week and people are desperate to find a cure!
A coalition of guilds and thugs are seeking to take down the Bandit King and preach against him openly. Usually by now the Bandit King would have had them dispatched, but for some reason they have not been touched.
A small group of people are campaigning to start a new holiday called “Giveback”, where the crime stops for a day and you literally give back something that you stole in the last year and promise not to steal it again. Others are less thrilled with the idea of them undoing their own work.
A seller of cursed items keeps changing their face, but people want to catch them. Their goods are indistinguishable from non-cursed items, and even normal goods such as bags of flour have found a way to be cursed.
A miasma has been slowly leaking out of the sewers and causing a plague-like sickness to overtake the town. Oddly, half-elves, half-orcs, and other half-races are not affected even when people with full blood on either side are.

💎 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗺! Mercenary’s Pauldron
Wondrous item, uncommon (requires attunement) ___
This magic pauldron has 3 charges and regains all expended charges daily at dawn. You can use a bonus action while wearing the pauldron to expend 1 of its charges to divine its tactical insights, magically granting you advantage on the next weapon attack roll you make before the end of your next turn. On a hit, the attack deals an extra 1d6 damage of the weapon’s type, and you gain that same amount of temporary hit points, which last until the end of your next turn. ___

Cool dnd warlock ideas:
A warlock with a key that can be placed in any lock and turns the door into a portal to the location of their patron, so they can talk face to face
Or, alternatively, a tablet of obsidian that works like a smartphone, allowing texts and calls
A warlock whose patron is their mom or dad
A warlock patron who has NO IDEA WHATS GOING ON. Like doesn’t even know what a pact is, let alone how they stumbled into one.
A patron who is the leader of a government. The queen, the President, the emperor, whatever.

Anyone: lol Rangers bad
Me who has to be talked out of playing a Ranger every campaign because I love them so much: bro.
My DM who painstakingly tested each available subclass and hunted down tons of homebrew items to make my build idea (a Jack-of-all trades who could fight in melee and ranged and also heal) work to its fullest potential: bro.
My aasimar swarmkeeper dual wielder + bows, who is the party healer, the best ranged attacker I’ve ever played without even using the archery style, has so many abilities I regularly forget half of them exist, and can put out as much damage as the rogue and fighter in our party EASILY. And blew up a catapult from the other side of the battlefield just to show off: bro.
(Anyway this meme was brought to you by the Greatbows are The Best Weapon association, if your DM doesn’t let you use greatbows on your strength based Ranger build, you may be entitled to a Better Fucking DM)

Here’s a closeup of a WIP of my new character Takara!
Tumblr media
She’s a Paladin ^-^ and I have no good reason to make her, no campaigns lined up, but I thought if the name and she just spontaneously formed in my head while daydreaming at work.
The idea is that she wants to work hard and get lots of money so she can let her parents retire with plenty of money saved up. And one day while praying she was approached with an opportunity to become a holy warrior, with the promise that it would bring the glory and security her family needed.
She’s very sweet and motherly but her priorities are very narrow (like she’s willing to do questionable jobs if her god approves/it’ll get a lot of money) and she doesn’t really know how to appreciate the good things she works hard for.
HOT TIEFLING DAY
It’s Monday, you know what that means…The second installment of Hot Tiefling Day! Please feel free to share your hot hot tiefling. Last week was so fun. So much fantastic art and cool characters. I am having one worked on now so hopefully next week I can share, too

Lmao I’m totally adapting this for my dnd game. Completely non magical drug with no obvious red flags, if it’s consumed in the wrong way you go straight to internal hell
I made like 5 separate roll tables to make sure it’s a unique trip every time. D4 for scare factor, D6 for the overall theme, D8 or alterations to the perception of the self, D12 for alterations to the perception of time (ranging from a 15 minute trip seeming like 5 minutes to several lifetimes)…
… and if you rolled a 3 or 4 on scare factor AND rolled a percentage chance to develop lingering symptoms, a D20 for lingering trauma. Options ranging from developing a minor phobia to a relevant object or topic, to delusions of contracting deadly illnesses and more!
Oh and if you chew the leaves instead of smoke it, you just briefly gain Oracle like abilities and I give you random campaign info lol.
