You know what I just noticed? The narrative literally rewards people stomping on and disrespecting Izuku and All Might's boundaries.
Izuku leaves UA for their own protection, and instead of Class 1A sending only those closest to him to try and bring him back, they all corner him and drag him back by force. Bakugou strongarms and guilt trips his way into being let in on OFA and contributes absolutely nothing to their meetings with All Might. These are all portrayed as wholesome moments and the right thing to do.
All Might never wanted a sidekick, but Sir Nighteye pesters him and browbeats him into accepting him. He later uses his Quirk on All Might (something I believe All Might didn't want him to do) and tries making him retire*. When All Might chooses Izuku to be his successor, Sir Nighteye not only proceeds to groom Mirio into being the "proper" successor without his knowledge, but he goes on a mission to destroy Izuku's self confidence to make him give OFA for Mirio. None of this is ever addressed in universe, and Sir Nighteye's death is portrayed as incredibly sad.
*= this one is more understanding, but it was still All Might's choice to make
... FUCK!
How did I not realize this!?
Now this makes the scenes even more worse!

A brief write up MHA and Subverting Expectations:
So something MHA has a reputation for is “subverting expectations”. I put that in quotes because honestly I don’t see much of this. Yeah, there are some examples such as Ochako putting her dreams above her love life, but MHA is your pretty standard Shonan anime in terms of construction. However, that doesn’t stop Katsuki Stans from using this excuse to defend Katsuki. Apparently him not having his ass whopped, him not being called out, and him not being hated by any meaningful character is Hori simply “subverting expectations”.
Again, this would be fine if the development surrounding him was any good, but it’s not. The main thing lacking is the incentive TO change. Sure, Katsuki seeing how Izuku was chosen to have OFA was upsetting, but how does that really provide a catalyst for him to change? His goal’s the exact same, which is to be the number one hero, and that’s being jeopardized by Izuku’s newfound power. So where does him learning empathy come from? You know, save to win and win to save? As of right now, it seems Katsuki’s only saving to win to be at the top, whereas Izuku wishes to save to, well, save. He doesn’t suddenly develop basic empathy, it’s just that he found a new way to “win”. It comes off as weak.
Now I know a lot of antis want Katsuki to be brutally attacked to kickstart his development, but as much as I despise this lil shit, I don’t 100% agree with this sentiment. He definitely needs to be humbled in a fight, which could’ve been done during the Sports Festival with Shoto or have him fight Mirio, but most importantly he needs to have a “the reason you suck” speech delivered to him. He needs to have all his flaws blatantly pointed out and criticized. Izuku could give a much needed cathartic speech, Shota could actually do his job for once and detail all the ways in which his flaws would get him killed, and/or All Might could tell him his heart’s not in the right place. This’ll incentivize him to actually wanna develop instead of him seeing saving as another means of wining. Rather than having Katsuki act OOC only to revert back to his old self shortly after and retconing some of the reasons why Katsuki, Hori could’ve easily done this, but that would mean removing some of Katsuki’s plot armor and apparently that’s not allowed, writing be damned.

My thoughts on BNHA in a nutshell.
My Hero Academia is an utter insult to storytelling as it just takes tropes we're familiar with and makes them worse.
Nothing kills a series more than seeing the potential it has and what it could've been only to see the writers and creator completely butcher it.
Katsuki Bakugou is the worst anime character I've even seen and it shocks me how loved and popular he is and how the fandom justifies his horrible actions because of his nonexistent character development.
Not to mention the villains it wants to redeem are at the point where redemption would be unrealistic and it's proven by Toga literally saying she would rather die than face the consequences of her actions.
The only way to fix it at this point is to just completely reboot the series and give it to a writer that actually acknowledges the themes and characters it wants to tell and flesh them out fully instead of just being there and wasting energy to prop up it's worst characters.
IE Bakugou and Endeavor

If this ever happens, how likely is it that she dies needlessly in the next chapter?
Tumblr media
Am i the only one who got pissed by the fact she didn’t got to fight in the tournament and instead did the chearleader? I don’t do fan arts often, but i want to get better at handling japanese model sheets
I may animate her again with less Twices…

STRANGELY ENDEARING SIGHTS ON TF2:
-Heavies who throw their sandwiches at hopeless causes, like a burning corpse on the ground or a building with a sapper attached.
-Pyros who thumb you up on the kill-cam (who can be mad at that? They’re thumbing you up!)
-All classes, but especially Soldiers, when the player controlling them shakes the mouse up and down as if trying to nod but it instead moves their entire torso (Soldier’s long and bulky rocket launcher enhances this motion and makes it 10 times more hilarious)
-When you die as Engineer, go to spectate your buildings and find a Pyro with homewrecker spychecking like mad and refusing to leave your nest.
-Medics who thank the Heavies after they throw their sandwiches at them.
-When during pregame, you spam the “Spy!” voice command at a teammate Spy, and the Spy responds with “Yes” every time.
-Non-Engineer classes who crouch near friendly buildings and keep smacking them with their melee weapons
-Pyros who run from the other end of the map chasing after Scouts trying to put their fire out.
-Pyros who run from the other end of the map to where you are just to extinguish you.
-A gibus and pyrovision Engineer who helps you upgrade and maintain your buildings.
-When you and an enemy player can’t connect a single hit so you both end up stopping, crouching, thanking each other and walking away.
-Those new players who wander off into a completely deserted part of the map and just stay there, looking all around them.

The principal difference between 1980s anime and modern anime is that when modern anime shows you a scantily clad girl riding a motorcycle it’s framed in a way that makes it clear it expects you to be getting a boner for the girl, whereas when 1980s anime shows you a scantily clad girl riding a motorcycle it’s framed in a way that makes it clear it expects you to be getting a boner for the motorcycle.

To be very honest, I am incredibly offended by how Hori wrote Iida and Izuku forming a strong bond fairly quick and how he showed they are there for each other no matter what. Then, he began showing Iida building a strong relationship with Shoto, becoming as strong as his friendship with Izuku. And then he proceeded to throw him in the trash and replace him with Bkg.
Why the fuck did you spend all those chapters showing us that Iida, Shoto and Izuku have a very strong bond as friends and ultimately decided to fucking dump Iida deliberately?
I know why of course, it's because Bkg is so popular and brings in the most cash. But this decision affected the story so badly. Bkg has 0% chemistry with Shoto. And it makes 0 sense that Shoto would want to be friends with him since he has literally the same abusive kind of attitude he faced throughout his childhood. Not to mention his huge unwillingness to coordinate and actually act as a fucking team since he always wants to be the leader. He also never stops berating both of them even for the smallest things. It's so annoying how awful their chemistry is, not to mention it makes every single scene they are in uncomfortable. The only scenes it hasn't been unbearable is when Bkg shuts the fuck up and let's the other two enjoy their friendship.
He spent so much time telling us that not only do Izuku, Iida and Shoto have amazing chemistry, but they are a very coordinated and strong trio, only to ultimately shove Iida aside and try to fit Bkg in instead. What was the fucking point then? (not to mention that unlike with Bkg, every scene they are together in feels heartwarming).
I will never not be mad at how much Hori pushed Iida's character aside just to try to pretend Bkg's character is more important and making the whole story the horrid writing mess it currently is.

I’m tired of Bakugou
What do I think about Bakugou? I’m tired of him.
I’m tired of this static character, this empty, angry child, being shoehorned into everything, with everyone in and out of story loving him for treating them like filth. I’m tired of him, and I’m disappointed.
Let me tell you all a secret: when Bakugou was first introduced? I didn’t like him, of course, I never have and never will. But I was excited about him; not about who he was, but what he symbolized.

I'm not a fanfic kind of dude. I barely even classify as a "fandom" kind of person, but sometimes I'm just feeling a lot like reading something that shits on bkg and I swear it's so hard because most of the "Bakugo faces consequences" and "Bakugo/consequences" tags are literally filled with people pitying him or ultimately kissing his ass.
You don't know how much of a bad look it is to be proud of yourself for writing Mineta out of the story in your fic and then having Bakugo be babied in it at the same time. Your "I'll forgive a character for being shit if it's hot" hypocrisy is showing real hard.
If you're gonna put your shit in those tags you better not fucking have that "bkg is bad at emotions 🥺 he's just a misunderstood baby" in it. If he's gonna face consequences then have him face em, don't immediately proceed to have him win the lottery right afterwards wtf.
Anyway, I'm just a picky motherfucker when it comes to the media I consume lmao. I couldn't read half the fics in the "let midoriya vent and heal" RIP (thought some were very good).

Hey random but does anyone sometimes think about Monsters Vs Aliens and wonder what if the fiancé hadn’t been a fucking dick? Like imagine an actual happy relationship with the fiancé and Susan and then being a really cute couple and him just being: that’s my wife. My giant wife. I love her.

On your Anti-Bakugou post, figure I can put my two cents in.
First of all, there’s no supposedly. Bakugou BULLIED Midoriya. For ten years. No ifs ands or buts. I have no idea how people can look at what he did and say otherwise.
Second, yes. Bakugou could have never told Midoriya to commit suicide and, if things still progressed as they did, he could still become someone I can’t stand.
For me, it’s not “just about the suicide bating”. It certainly set a damning tone for him, but we are well beyond that point. Like others have said, including you, the main issue is his static, antagonistic attitude that has long worn out it’s welcome. No, not him simply going around screaming, “DIE!” I mean that he is literally just an unpleasant individual to be around. And he stays that way throughout the entire story. He is given multiple opportunities to try to change his horrible attitude, but Horikoshi is automatically quick to have him back to being a piece of shit because his fans love his “tsundere” mode. (Spoilers, I looked up the definition. Bakugou isn’t a tsundere, he’s an narcissistic asshole)
He gets to treat anyone like shit without impunity on multiple occasions and barely anyone dares to correct him and they come across as spineless or as enablers.
Him telling Todoroki he wants nothing to do with the family dinner? Endeavor should have dumped him and have him Uber back.
Shit talking about the past OFA users? All Might should have infuriated Nana is called a weak nobody.
Using his quirk on Amajiki at point blank range because he insisted ‘he was looking down on him’? Kirishima should have been on his ASS.
Yaoyorozu no longer able to call him by his last name like a fellow classmate but his twitter account hero name, in a way to make him superior to her? She should have snarked back and retract her compliment.
I could go on, but you get the point. It’s not just that one action. It’s his entire demeanor that never gets corrected, the other characters are simply forced to cope with unrealistically, that Horikoshi has failed to properly acknowledge and that his stans demand we just accept. We are simply told he’s changed and the should be enough for us, instead of expecting better.
Pretty yup much to all of this.

Katsuki Bakugou is Trash
Character introductions are crucial
It’s how we’ll associate with them later on in a series when they’ve grown and develop into something more so we can look back and then now and be like:
“Man, I can’t believe how much they’ve grown since then… good for them.”
But when it to a certain Katsuki Bakugou, Hori threw out the manual on character development 101
Tumblr media
As we know from the beginning and the manga panel above, Bakugou has bullied Midoriya (Still refuses to call him that sh*tty name Deku because no matter how much he says it, it’s not as taken back as he says it is) for years and even told him to jump off a building and pray for a quirk in his next life.
From here, we expect this to come back to bite Bakugou in the ass and receive some overdue consequences for his severe bullying…
Except it never happens.
At most, all he gets is a slap on the wrist and light reprimand of “Grow up and stop raging”
And that’s literally it!
He never faces consequences, he’s literally praised for being strong, Midoriya is treated to be just as fault for Bakugou’s behavior and gets punished as well (The whole house arrest thing makes my blood boil), and MIDORIYA’S the one to apologize but never Bakugou!
And then they try to make us sympathize with said bully because
“Oh he’s not top dog anymore and feels frustrated over it” Do I care? No, because he bullied Midoriya and suicide-baited him.
“Oh he failed the Provisional Licence Exam” Do I care? No, because he bullied Midoriya and suicide-baited him.
“Oh he feels bad because he believes he caused All Might to retire and that his hero origin story isn’t going as he wanted it to” Do I care? No, because he BULLIED MIDORIYA AND SUICIDE-BAITED HIM!!
You see what’s happening? It’s like what Jlongbone said in her Beauty and the Beast review: It’s like a domino effect, sometimes one f’ up, can lead to dozens more down the line.
And that concludes my rant on why character introductions are important and how Bakugou failed at that, thank you for reading.
