HAPPY 5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY FINAL SPACE!!

If only we could have 5 season at this point

I found out about Final Space maybe a year or so after it came out and I immediately fell in love. It had everything I could have ever wanted in a show; space, found family, a main character who uses humor to cope, bright colors, good, fast pacing, wonderful characters, and hilarious jokes.

It's an emotional rollercoaster and was truly onto something amazing before it was so wrongfully written off as a tax write off. What I would give to see this show for the 1st time again or go see it continue...man.

But for the time that it was a thing, it was absolutely wonderful and I'm so grateful to have had it.

Something I really love about Gary Goodspeed as a caretaker is… he doesn’t know what he’s doing. And he KNOWS he doesn’t know what he’s doing. 

The fact that he doesn’t know what he’s doing is I think what originally stops him from trying to parent, because “Fuck, who am I kiding? You know how easy it is to fuck up a kid for life?? Who the fuck do I think I am, trying to parent like it’s something any dumb bitch can do? No. I can’t do that to this kid, I’ll hurt them, and that’s the last thing I want.”

But what ends up making him change his mind and do it anyway, DESPITE not knowing what he’s doing, is that he still cares enough to want to get it right. And when he sees someone who doesn’t care in charge of a kid, who doesn’t feel the least bit concerned with how their actions are gonna negatively affect that child- then he steps in.

Because he knows what it feels like to have a parent just not care about you, and even if he doesn’t know how to do some of the parenting things, he DOES know how to care. He knows how to ensure that the kids he looks after can feel that he cares.

If nothing else, he can ensure those kids grow up feeling loved, and that matters.
