Hi! I just discovered your page and I'm already curious to know more about Alynthia! I saw your post "31 ROYAL SIMBLR WORLDBUILDING QUESTIONS" and I have the following questions: 7, 10, 17 and 19. And I have another question! What is your country's etymology? :)
omg stop this is so exciting!!!
here we goooo!
7. What titles are used in your country? Are there any special titles unique to your country? (e.g., Hereditary Prince, Princess Royal)
the titles used in alynthia are quite regular- the King is known as His Majesty, and his wife the Queen is known as Her Royal Highness, because she's the queen consort by marriage. Direct children or siblings of the monarch have the His/Her Royal Highness title, such as Duchess Eden Cavendish. Some royals opt to not use their HRH title, such as Duchess Clío Higharrow, who goes by Her Grace, even though her brother was the last King.
In Velaris and Aonoran, Earls and Countesses are better known by the public as "jarl" and "fru", as ancient Alynthian titles are very similar to that of viking royal titles. There are also 'dames', in relation to certain Orders, charitable organisations and also military organisations.
There hasn't been a Princess Royal for several centuries... but maybe there will be soon!
10. How is your monarch addressed in public? How are they addressed in private?
the current monarch, King Alaric, is addressed directly in public firstly as "Your Majesty" along with a customary bow, and then is further addressed as 'sir' with a slight bow of the head.
When the King is being talked about in public, he is addressed as His Majesty the King Alaric, and then further as His Majesty.
At super formal events, such as ceremonies and balls, the herald announces the King with "All rise for His Majesty the King, leader of Alynthia and all its Realms!". The spouse of the monarch is announced similarly: "All rise for Her Royal Highness the Queen Consort Sorscha of Alynthia!"
His family address him differently:
- his kids (Calix, Elaine and Elysia) call him 'Father'
- his sister (Eden) calls him 'Ricky'
- his third cousin Orion- whom he considers his brother- calls him 'Alaric', or if non-family members are around, 'sir'.
- His aunt Clio calls him Alaric too, but more recently has been calling him an idiot 😗
- his cousins, Calix and Amara (Clio's kids) call him 'cousin', and 'alaric'.
Basically, his family rarely calls the monarch by his proper title unless the occasion calls for it.
17. Is there a mechanism to remove unpopular or incapable monarchs from the throne?
Yes! There are three levels of government that rules alynthia- the Privy Council, consisting of many Royals and nobles, the Parliament, populated by federally voted in officials from all different counties in Alynthia and the People's government which local representatives attend each of the PG's in the cities. Essentially, if a monarch is considered unpopular, each of the PG's must submit a motion to Dethrone a Monarch, which then goes to national Parliament and if they deliberate over it and then agree with the PG's motion, they send it to Privy Council. However, sending of the motion to Privy Council isn't for it to be agreed or disagreed with, it's more of a courtesy thing- no matter what the Council says, the monarch will be dethroned. At this point, the Council has no other choice but to organise the abdication of the current monarch, and will choose a new monarch. Usually, another Royal is chosen as the next monarch, and is served with a 'summons' of sorts- notifying them of their impending duties and responsibilities towards the Alynthian people by becoming the new King or Queen. Again, they don't really have a choice. The Privy Council then informs Parliament and the PG, along with usually releasing a statement to the public of their plans to 'advise' (technically force) the monarch to step down in favour of the chosen Royal. the other levels of government and the public will then start a week of celebrations, and by the end of the week, the old monarch will be off the throne and the new chosen royal is crowned!
19. Are there any organized anti-monarchy groups within your country? What are their goals?
Hmm... Yes, I guess there technically are! Some groups within society maintain that a constitutional monarchy and a unitary parliamentary democracy isn't functional for Alynthia anymore- similar to communist groups within democratic countries in real life. These groups aren't huge or popular, because most other Alynthians think they're just ridiculous or over-the-top. Since the Monarchy was stripped of their absolute power a few hundred years ago, Alynthia's quality of life has largely improved, and the Parliament and People's Government have been very effective at their job. These groups want universal equality between all people, but I doubt they'll gather more support, because tbh humans are, by nature, greedy- so even if everything is abolished and everyone is made equal, some certain people will attempt to rise to power and become wealthy (just my opinion :))) )
OOOKay! and there is the end of the questions from the worldbuiling post!
the word "alynthia" comes from ancient language of the tribes that lived in the country before the unification of Visha and Estaria, and means "magic, beauty and wonders", and was chosen by the warrior Queen Elysia the First to welcome a new age of togetherness between her Estarian people and her new husband's (King Phillip) people, the Vishans.
Thank you thank you for the ask!!! if you have any more questions, message me or send me another ask :DD I could talk for years about alynthia xxxxxx

Our Royal Princesses turn fifteen this weekend! The Palace has released some photos of Princess Elysia and Princess Elaine this morning, reportedly taken by the girls' cousin- Lord Jack Cavendish!
Tumblr media
Princess Elysia, the eldest daughter of our King and Queen, is pictured in what looks like the Blue Sitting Room in the Palace.
Tumblr media
In stark contrast, Princess Elaine's pictures are of her in the gardens surrounding the Palace.
Our Princesses are growing up so fast!
We certainly hope that more of Lord Jack's photos of the Royal Family will be released to the press and the public in the future.

What meals have become culturally iconic in your kingdom? Are there any forbidden foods?
hmmmm.. this is a GOOD question. a couple of my cities in alynthia are based on countries like scotland- the history includes cultures similar to celts and vikings and highlanders and such. an example would be velaris- that city was the place were alynthians originated thousands of years ago and they went and conquered the rest of the cities that make up my country.
i’m still fleshing out the origin story, but most of the true history, culture and customs of ancient alynthians is hidden and safeguarded by royals and nobles alike due to a few secret historical events. i haven’t given foods and dishes too much thought tbh but i’d love to research more about it and add it to my biggg “Alynthian history” note on my phones notes app 😅
anywho enough rambling,,,, so off the top of my head here’s some quick ideas about cultural foods:
- boiled pork and beef; the ancient tribes were pretty agricultural and they had farms with cattle and such.
- lots and lots of stews; beef, chicken. especially in places such as velaris where it gets cOLD.
- plenty and plenty of fish, as ancient alynthians lived on the coast.
in the early days, bread and other wheat-based foods were sort of forbidden to poorer families in the ancient tribes, simply because wheat was hard af to grow in the Velaris cold.
i wouldn’t say any particular food is forbidden nowadays, nor was there a proper ban on anything in Alynthian history.
thanks for the ask!! i’m certainly going to think about this a lot in the future hehe and hopefully have a better answer when i properly publish the history and origins of alynthia :D

man i wish i’d seen this three days ago and i would have saved myself a lot of trouble 😐😐😐
some of my simbabies got deleted due to what i can only guess was a bad ‘save and exit game’ process. i’m trying to recreate them from random families i uploaded to the sims gallery a month ago lmao so if any of them look slightly different you now know why 🤟😮‍💨🤟
Hi All!
so if you missed my (mentally frail) text post yesterday, I accidentally ruined my laptop 😅 thank god my partner is a gamer and he knows how to retrieve all the files from the old hard drive, so I shouldn't have lost anything important. (fingers crossed)
so I just ordered a new one (rest in peace my savings😖) and it should get here Monday next week!
TL;DR I will be on brief hiatus until my new laptop gets situated !!!!! thanks for your patience homies.

Questions 3, 18 and 22 from yur most recent post please
hey nonny! thanks for sending in an ask from the worldbuilding reblog hehe :D
I'm going to put my answers under the cut because I'm pUMped to be talking about Alynthian history/lore and my reply became veryyyy long hahaha
3. If your monarch died with no legitimate heirs and no chosen successor, who would become the next monarch?
If Alynthia's monarch dies without an heir or children, the Crown would automatically pass to the late monarch's younger sibling. That sibling would then be crowned, and the throne would pass down through their children and grandchildren.
If the late monarch has no younger siblings, then the throne would go to their oldest aunt or uncle, and then be passed down to their cousins and second cousins.
Here's a badly drawn example created with my current Monarch on Plumtree lol:
Tumblr media
Gold lines represent scenario 1, blue lines represent scenario 2
18. Have there been any civil wars or succession crises in your country’s history?
Yes! Alynthia's history books really only detail the events that occurred after Edward, King of the Wild, declared himself King of Alynthia (formerly known as Estaria). Butttt, the hidden history of Alynthia- which has been safeguarded and hidden from the world for various reasons - contain countless wars between the ancient tribes that occupied the lands hundreds and thousands of years ago. I will be doing a Part to reveal all of Alynthia's secrets :DDD
There was also a succession crisis about a hundred years ago- King Edward III of Estaria and his wife, Queen Marie Vablistan, died in a horrible and mysterious fire. Their only daughter, Althea, was only five when she was orphaned. Estaria's succession rules at the time dictated that an unmarried woman could not ascend the Throne- let alone a child of five years old- so a Regent would need to be appointed. Queen Marie's father, Sir John Vablistan, claimed the role. Sir John was a cunning and wicked man, who believed women weren't capable of ruling. He planned to poison his granddaughter, Althea, so he wouldn't have to give up the throne when she became of age. Suddenly, the late King Edward's younger sister, Princess Elysia, declared her rights to the Estarian Throne, and staged a coup to stop Sir John from becoming King Regent. The Princess married King Phillip of Visha (the neighbouring country) two days before her coronation, and so Elysia and Phillip became the Queen and King of Estaria and Visha. These two countries combined to form Alynthia.
Althea retreated to Aedion, and was granted the title of Duchess of Aedion by her aunt, Queen Elysia. Traumatised by the events of her early childhood, Althea never visited the Capital or the Palace again.
22. If royal marriages must be approved, what does the approval process look like? What kinds of factors are considered? Do all members of the royal family require formal approval, or only those close to the throne?
Yep! Heir's marriages must be approved firstly by the Privy Council (which consists of nobles each representing their families), then the proposal is raised in Parliament for elected officials to vote on. Finally, the Monarch receives the official papers detailing the Privy Council and Parliament's decision, and can either decide to veto their decisions, to agree with them or be the tie-breaker decision. Heir's marriages are deliberated over the most, considering that their possible future spouse will ascend the throne beside them.
However, with Crown Royals (non-heir children of the Monarch and very close relatives), the Privy Council and the Monarch are the only decision makers involved. Again, the Monarch can choose to disregard the Council's decision if they so choose.
Finally, with Lords and Ladies in the royal family, it is only the parents of the noble, along with the Monarch, who have any say in the approval or disapproval in the marriage.
In modern times, these processes are mainly only to uphold tradition, and -depending on who the Heir, Crown Royal, or noble is looking to marry- marriages are almost always approved. Factors considered when these separate institutions make these decisions are:
public approval/character
reputation
job/profession
age appropriateness
educational pedigree/nature or number of university degrees
dedication to their royal partner
length of relationship with their royal partner
aaand done! thanks again for the ask :))))

If you could manifest any of your characters into a real person, who would you pick and why?
oooo!!! this is an awesome question.
hmmm i think i’d have to say either Elysia (her arc is coming up v soon) cause i think she and i would get along very well lol she’s kind of based off me. i can’t wait to explore her character even more in the future too
my second option would probably be Clío, cause she’s based off Violet Crawley from Downton Abbey. she’s funny as hell, in her own English humour kind of way, and fiercely protective of her family and country. You’ll be seeing more of her in the upcoming parts- she’s my favourite side character!
if y’all like her as much as i do, i might do a flashback arc about her life and story hehe xxx
