I'm so late for @sukkameetcute , but at least I made it!
I had a lot of fun and satisfaction drawing all the items (a lot of pain too, but worth it).
You can find this art as sticker, poster or print on my Redbubble!

Okay, here’s my slightly-less-ridiculous submission for @sukkameetcute!
I got this idea almost a full year ago after walking by some cute guys in the park who were coaching some kind of pee wee sport. Was Sukka Modern Meet-Cute Weekend an excuse to get me to actually write this fic…? *backs away slowly*
losing all my cool
Rating: T
Genre: Modern AU, Meet-Cute, Fluff
Relationship: Sukka
Summary: Sure, the pee wee soccer coach on the other side of the park is cute, but Suki is content to simply admire him from afar. Until he literally crashes right through the middle of her class.
Suki was not the kind of person to pick up strangers. And if any of her friends tried to argue that point, she would protest that it was one time, it was on a dare, and it had been Mio’s birthday, so she’d felt obligated to play along. But it hadn’t gone particularly well — she’d gone out with the guy once, he was kind of a creep, and she hadn’t seen him again after that — so all-in-all it had been a perfect case study for why she didn’t usually do the whole hit-on-a-complete-stranger thing. Too much risk for very little reward, as far as she was concerned.
So when she spotted a cute guy with an undercut and a stubby ponytail while she was scoping out the park — not for hotties, but for a place to set up for her class — she didn’t think anything of it. Her heart melted a bit when she saw him running alongside a platoon of pee wees, shouting, “Alright, go-go-go!” as they tried for all their might to kick a soccer ball down a field. And she let her gaze trail in an appraising sort of way from his broad shoulders all the way down to his tight, apple-firm calves. But with a quirk of her brow and a purse of her lips, she continued on her way to find a patch of grass large enough for the dozen-or-so women she was expecting to join her.
She didn’t typically hold her class outdoors. She had a well-outfitted studio a few blocks away that she took great pride in. But cabin fever brought on by a long winter in the city plus an unexpected burst of early spring weather had her longing for grass under her feet and the eye-squinting brightness of sunshine on her face. Plus, as her gaze swept over the skyline across the bay and then slipped back towards where Ponytail Guy was showing his tiny recruits how to juggle the soccer ball with their knees, she thought the view wasn’t half bad.
continue on AO3

Hiiiii okay I've never written Sukka but here *lobs ficlet over the fence at @sukkameetcute and runs away*
For the prompt "had an overlapping appointment/reservation" "at the library."
"I hate this," Sokka grumbled. "In the history of unfair things in the world this has got to be the most epically unfair."
"Aren't you being a tad dramatic?" ventured Katara.
"I am most definitely not." Sokka stuffed his hands in his pockets and cast a dark glance at the library doors. "What's the point of studying fish in biology if we don't get to see them swim?"
"They swim in the tank."
"The tank is small."
"So you can see them swim."
"They looked sad, okay!" Sokka snapped. "And anyway I'm repopulating the river. We learned about ecosystems last week and fish were on the chart right at the bottom. Don't teach me about rivers and then make us watch sad fish in a tank."
Katara sighed. "You know, you're a really good guy when you try."
Sokka punched her in the shoulder and stalked off towards detention. He was nearly there when he heard a shout.
"This is so unfair!" a girl shouted. "He deserved that!"
Mr. Piandao continued to herd her towards the library door, silent and stern.
"Come on!" the girl continued. "She was clearly out and he threw the ball right at her face."
"Be that as it may, fighting means detention, Suki," he said. "Don't make me make it a week instead of just today. You can take the late bus home at 4:30."
The girl, Suki, glowered at him, but seemed smart enough to shut her mouth. She let Mr. Piandao lead her over to where Sokka was standing.
"Hey, Coach," he muttered.
Mr. Piandao raised an eyebrow. "Do I want to know?"
"Probably not."
He pressed his lips together into a thin line, then nodded. "Don't do it again." Then he walked away.
Sokka turned to the girl. Up close she was... really cute. Like really, really cute. The fact that she was absolutely pissed only added to the appeal. Compact and toned beneath her shorts and tank top, an obvious athlete. Wide, storm-colored eyes. The kind of nose that made him want to tap it and say "boop." Sokka's hand actually twitched at that and he fought back a blush. Had he really been about to boop her nose? There was no question in his mind that Suki could, if not completely kick his ass, at least give him a run for his money. A crazy part of him wanted to find out.
"What are you in for?" she grumbled.
"Freed the guppies in bio," he said. "You?"
Suki snorted. She had an adorable snort. "Fish rights, I like it. I punched some asshole who threw a dodgeball at a little girl in gym."
"Rad."
She smiled at that. Then Suki nodded to the doors. "Shall we go face our punishment?"
Sokka shrugged. "May as well get started." He swallowed hard, then added, "and let me know if you need a ride later. I heard Coach Piandao say something about a bus."
Her eyes flashed with amusement. "I don't accept rides from strangers."
"Oh." Sokka felt himself deflate. At least he'd tried.
"So maybe don't be a stranger?" With that Suki winked and opened the library doors.

The weekend may be over, but Sukka Modern Meet-Cute doesn’t have to be!
I’ve had several folks reach out letting me know they’re still working on meet-cute fics or art, wondering if late submissions will be accepted. The answer is:
Yes, yes! A thousand times yes!
In fact, there are a couple reblogs coming your way this afternoon. 😎
So keep ‘em coming, folks! Can’t wait to see what you’re working on!

To kick off day 2 of Sukka Modern Meet-Cute Weekend, we have some...
Tumblr media
[image ID: Pink and white-themed infographic that reads “Meet-Cute Metrics. On the first day of Sukka Modern Meet-Cute Weekend (April 8, 2022)... Filtering AO3 for fics with Sokka/Suki as the relationship and “Meet-Cute” or “First Meetings” as additional tags resulted in 12 fics, however... Of those 12, there were 5 fics that appeared to have Sukka as a background/side ship, leaving only... The remaining 7 fics, which made up the total number of Sukka Meet-Cute fics on AO3! All seven of those fics were featured, along with other works, during the Modern Meet-Cute Jamboree leading up to this event. :) Combined they make up ~20,000 words of Sukka meet-cute goodness. Here’s to boosting that number this weekend! end ID]

Okay, I put together something absolutely ridiculous for @sukkameetcute that was 100% instigated by discord so I can really only be expected to take so much responsibility… 😅
sorry, right number
Rating: M (for some…naughty language in the very beginning)
Genre: Humor
Relationship: Sukka
Summary: Suki accidentally texts something ribald to a complete stranger. But it’s alright, it’s not like she’ll ever see or talk to him again…
Told in a series of text messages between Suki, Katara, Ty Lee, and a certain lucky stranger.

For @sukkameetcute "grabbed for the same item at the library"
Sokka stepped into the library and looked around. This one was much bigger than the one back home, and dozens of people milled about the space. There wasn’t a single empty table or aisle between the stacks, and Sokka regretted skipping the book store.
Luckily, all he wanted was the new book in his favorite series, and that meant he only had to head to the bookshelf labeled “New Releases.” The letters were hand cut out of construction paper and coming loose from their cardboard backing, and the whole thing was cockeyed on the corner of the bookshelf. Someone had obviously tried to make it more appealing, as parts of the shelves had books on stands or turned to show their covers, thus pushing over into another section of the massive metal frame.
A little below eye level, Sokka saw the spine of the book he wanted. A woman was approaching him and he moved, bumping into her slightly.
“Sorry, just needed to grab this.” He said, tilting the book back into his hand.
“Hey!” The woman balked.
Sokka held the book to his chest and shrugged.
“You snooze, you lose!” He said, turning and walking to the checkout desk.
He heard footsteps behind him and he frowned. Was that woman really going to tell on him or something?
“Hi, I’d like to check out this book.” Sokka said, sliding the book over the counter.
The librarian took it and picked it up. Sokka and the librarian both noticed the white paper slip sticking up like a bookmark.
“I’m sorry, sir, but this book has already been reserved.” The librarian said.
“What?” Sokka replied.
“Yeah, that’s my book.” The woman spoke up.
Sokka turned and she stepped forward, brandishing her library card.
“Suki Kwan. I reserved ‘A Sigil of Smoke.’” She said. The librarian took the card and started scanning.
“That was the only copy on the shelf.” Sokka stated.
“You snooze, you lose.” Suki replied.
As the librarian handed back her card and the book, Suki smiled at Sokka and shrugged.
“Sir, I can put you on the waitlist if you’d like.” The librarian said.
“Yeah, fine.” Sokka mumbled and dug into his pocket for his wallet.
He should have just gone to the bookstore.
The bell over the teashop door jingled as Sokka entered, but neither Katara nor Zuko turned. Sokka regretted ever introducing them.
“Ahem.” Sokka cleared his throat and Zuko looked up, smiling brightly.
“Hey Sokka, did you get your book?” He asked.
Katara turned on the stool, sipping from a large mug of hot chocolate.
“Alas, the mighty hunter seems to have returned empty handed.” She said and Sokka frowned at her.
“You’re annoying.” Sokka retorted and sat down next to her.
“I didn’t think your fantasy romance thriller series was so popular.” Katara replied.
“Yeah, well, it is.” Sokka grumbled. “And it’s not a romance.”
“Is or is not the lead character in the middle of a love triangle?”
“Okay fine, but now there’s another woman so it’s more like a love rhombus.”
“Rhombus?” Zuko repeated.
“One of the love interests loathes another guy so it’s more, wenk.” Sokka said and made a tilting motion with his hands.
“Okay, is this new woman a fairy or a vampire?” Katara asked.
“She’s a dragon who can shapeshift.” Sokka spat and she snorted.
“How can Ms. Perfectly-Average-Human-Woman-With-Mysterious-Powers ever choose?” Katara asked in a mocking tone.
“Wait, so what are the other two?” Zuko asked.
“Non-binary vampire and transman werewolf.” Sokka answered.
“And the lead is the blandest woman ever!” Katara added.
“Oh, then polycule. Obviously.” Zuko said.
Katara coughed out a laugh and started to wheeze as she pounded on the countertop. Sokka sighed and rubbed his eyes.
“Why are you allowed on the internet?” He asked.
The bell jingled again and Zuko, still grinning, stepped away.
“Welcome to the Jasmine Dragon.” He said.
“Thanks.” A woman replied, making Sokka freeze.
He turned on the stool to face Katara as the woman approached the register. Katara, seeing Sokka’s strained face, stopped laughing and looked up from where she was slumped over on the counter. He held a finger to his lips and Katara raised an eyebrow.
After the register dinged and the woman walked away, Sokka relaxed.
“I think that’s her.” Sokka whispered.
“Her, who?” Katara whispered.
“The book thief.” Sokka said and Katara gasped as quietly as she could while sliding upright.
“She stole your book?” She questioned.
“No, stop, no.” Sokka sighed and glanced to the side where Zuko was working on the espresso machine.
“I tried to get a copy but the last one was reserved. It was her book.” Sokka said.
“Oh, so you were the book thief.” Katara said.
“I hate you.”
Katara looked past him and Sokka hissed at her.
“She’s cute.” She said, leaning forward and propping her elbows on the countertop. “And she’s obviously a weirdo like you since she actually wanted that book enough to reserve it.”
Zuko poured a latte and moved out from behind the counter. Sokka turned as Zuko took the cup and saucer over to Suki’s table. When it wasn’t busy, Zuko often served tableside, but this time felt like a personal attack.
“Oh, is that ‘A Sigil of Smoke?’” Zuko asked.
In the small shop, Sokka could hear every word and felt his blood pressure drop.
“Yeah, I just got it.” Suki replied, running a hand over the plastic covered front of the book.
“My friend reads those books.” Zuko said, gesturing back toward the countertop.
Suki looked over and Sokka turned, shielding his face with a hand.
“Ah. Well, I think he’ll enjoy this one. Once he gets to it.” Suki added and Sokka grumbled to himself.
Zuko walked back over and took his place behind the bar, looking from Katara to Sokka.
“What?” He asked.
“I think Sokka is intimidated by Book Lady.” Katara stated.
“I am not!” Sokka snapped.
“I don’t know. She looks nice. She’s cute and she likes the same book you do.” Zuko offered.
“And?” Sokka pressed.
“Well it’s not like I have any hot friends you can date.” Katara said with a shrug.
“You think I’m hot?” Zuko asked, leaning over to prop his face in his hands in front of Katara.
“Cool it, Bean Jockey.” Katara said, putting her hand in his face and pushing him back.
“You two are terrible.” Sokka said.
“You should talk to her.” Katara urged.
“Maybe I will!” Sokka said and slid off the stool. Before his brain could catch up with him, he was suddenly standing next to Suki’s table.
“Hi.” He said.
“I’m not done with it yet.” Suki replied, turning a page and not looking at him.
“I was just wondering, what did you think of ‘A Flask of Fire?’” Sokka asked.
Suki did look up and Sokka cleared his throat.
“You actually read this series?” She asked.
“Yes?” Sokka replied nervously.
“You know mostly women read this.” Suki said.
“Yeah, well….” Sokka stammered “I picked up ‘A Flash of Fang’ at an airport years ago and I really enjoyed it and I then I really liked Micah in ‘A Turning of Tides’ because where I’m from wolves and the moon are pretty important and really the romance isn’t even that obnoxious, but anyway men can also like romance stories and, did I even introduce myself? I’m Sokka.”
He sighed and Suki chuckled, finally setting down the book.
“I think ‘Tides’ is my favorite so far.” She said.
Suki then laced her fingers together and rested her chin there.
“Would you like to sit down? I haven’t met another Demarkus fan that wasn’t a middle aged woman in an unhappy marriage.” She said.
Sokka slid into the seat opposite her and laid his hands on the table.
“Before we go any further, are you Team Raluca, Team Micah, or Team Mayra?” He asked.
“Not even going to give Raluca’s sire a chance?” Suki asked with a laugh. “I like that.”
Sokka smiled.
“Team Micah.” Suki said and then sat back, crossing her arms over her chest.
“Though I’m really liking Mayra after how this book opened.” She continued.
“You wound me.” Sokka said, clasping his hands to his chest.
Suki laughed again and Sokka couldn’t help but grin.
“You’re kidding. They’re all named like that?” Katara exclaimed from the counter.
Sokka and Suki turned, watching as Katara lifted her face from Zuko’s phone. She blushed and Zuko took the phone back, laughing.
“A Blush of Blood?” Katara stated.
“I’ll fight you.” Sokka said.
“I’ll win.” Katara retorted.
“Do you want to go somewhere quieter?” Suki asked.
Stunned, Sokka turned back to her.
“What?” He asked.
“I’d like to keep talking to you. Preferably without an audience.”
“Oh. Yeah. Yes.” Sokka stammered. “Food? I mean, would you like to get some lunch? With me?”
Suki smiled.
“Yes, I’d like to get lunch with you.” She said. As she slid the book into her bag, Sokka stood and looked at her nearly full cup.
“I owe you a coffee too.” He said.
Suki stood and looked down at it as well.
“What a great way to line up a second date.” She said.
“Or extend the first one.” Sokka replied.
She eyed him, the corner of her mouth hitched up in a smile.
“We’ll see.” She said.
Sokka smiled back.

As we lead up to Sukka Modern Meet Cute Weekend, we’ll be celebrating the great Sukka meet-cutes out there already!
Today’s spotlight is...
Eyes Like Steel by chronicAngel (rated G)
What is it?
Short and sweet, this fic is under 1k words and is an American university-themed college AU.
Why do we love it?
Sokka and Suki’s interaction in this is quiet and subtle, told mostly through introspective description that coyly hints at more.
Summary from AO3
Sokka and Suki's first meeting. Part of what will likely become a larger, more organized college AU.

Take a Hint by @captainkappa (rated G)
What is it?
This short one-shot is just over 1k words, but that’s more than enough time to create a ruckus on the bus. Sokka attempts to come to the rescue, albeit a bit clumsily.
Why do we love it?
Sokka trying to so hard to be a good guy. Suki, as per ushe, being a badass. Plus a little bystander intervention training on the side!
Summary from AO3
There were ten people on the bus. Suki had counted.
Ten people on this evening bus and yet this guy, with a toothpick sticking out of his mouth, decided to sit right next to her.
or a ‘a man catcalled me on the street and you yelled at him and i had to drag you away before things got physical’ sukka au

As we lead up to Sukka Modern Meet Cute Weekend, we’ll be celebrating the great Sukka meet-cutes out there already!
Today’s spotlight is...
beautiful stranger (here you are) by @asajjvxntress (rated T)
What is it?
This fic, written for ATLA Trifect Modern AU Week, is college AU, coffee shop AU, and meet-cute AU all rolled into one. Wingman Zuko, loosing his patience, makes another appearance in this story of pining from afar.
Why do we love it?
This one is all about the blushes, the stolen glances, and the shy, awkward flirting. And exasperated texts between Sokka and Zuko are always a fun bonus!
Summary from AO3
“Hi,” she replied, her voice kind, but somewhat strained. “Sorry to bother you, but all the other booths are taken by more than one person, and you’re sitting here all alone.”
Confused, Sokka looked around the cafe, noting that in the time that he had taken to write his paper, people had trickled in one by one, taking up each table so that the cafe was now almost packed.
He glanced back up at the girl, blinking slowly. “So….,” he started, furrowing his brow at her. “Do you… do you want to sit with me?”
OR: Sokka goes to Kuruk's Cafe to "work", knowing a certain girl he had his eyes on may be there.
