nobody is doing it like harrowhark nonagesimus. she ran a planet alone from the age of ten. she memorized a 10000 page fanfic out of pure repetition. she lobotomized herself to command f and replace every instance of her gfs name. her favourite food is gruel. she constructed an entire time bubble in death to provide backstory for her lobotomy. she hallucinated coffee au fanfiction.

i think its so funny that alumni from schools like harvard and columbia that were there during the protests in the 60s-80s are expressing support for students currently protesting against the genocide in palestine, and random zionists that were NOT at these protests in the 60s-80s have the never ending audacity to tell these alumni "well thats different, what you protested was good and what they're protesting is bad." as if protesters against the vietnam war and apartheid south africa were not also demonized, arrested, brutalized, and even killed for their activism. history only remembers them fondly after the damage has already been done.

You’re meeting the friend of a friend for the first time, who’s apparently an empath. When they shake your hand, they immediately rip their hand away from you.

one time i told a guy with a huge punisher decal on his car that i loved the punisher but that i'm too scared to have any of his merch because in the current political climate i wouldn't want people to think i support killing police and the man had. no response whatsoever. he was smiling and completely frozen in place. i'd never seen anyone bluescreen that hard

You know, when I see fictional characters who repress all their emotions, they’re usually aloof and very blunt about keeping people at a distance, sometimes to an edgy degree—but what I don’t see nearly enough are the emotionally repressed characters who are just…mellow.
Think about it. In real life, the person that’s bottling up all their emotions is not the one that’s brooding in the corner and snaps at you for trying to befriend them. More often than not, it’s that friendly person in your circle who makes easy conversation with you, laughs with you, and listens and gives advice whenever you’re upset. But you never see them upset, in fact they seem to have endless patience for you and everything around them—and so you call them their friend, you trust them. And only after months of telling them all your secrets do you realize…
…they’ve never actually told you anything about themselves.

Thinking about how the first time I read Gideon the Ninth (ok the first FEW times) I was like, wow I love how this book describes women as hot in a way that isn’t like, “here is a detailed description of the shape of her boobs and butt and also her waist is tiny,” and at the time I was like, wow I love it! so feminist! And to my ignorant former self, dear, “feminist” is not quite the word you were looking for.
