But the thing is somewhere down the line Gallifrey/the Timelords need to come back, it's simply part of the show.

I think the "destroyed in the time war" arc was really good and I personally liked the way Moffat brought it back. However, now Chibnall simply destroyed it again, (before we could have really gallifreyen episodes) even though the doctor gave everything to bring it back. It felt flat to me... and like I already said, it will come back somehow. Right now it feels like the writers switch it back and forth how they like, really cheap. "Ohh the doctor is too happy, let's destroy gallifery".

Moreover, if you as a viewer want to ignore the last six season of the show it's fine, everyone can like/dislike what they want, but as a writer??? Yeah it's kind of a tradition that the writers of doctor who ignore stuff of the past, the show never had a real canon, but Chibnall did it right off the bat and it annoys me. I still hope that something comes up with Missy in season 13.

Sorry for the rant, I just really dislike how Chibnall did the whole Gallifrey thing.

I saw one of those meme pics about Moffat destroying RTD’s Gallifrey storyline and how Chibnall has basically done the same thing to Moffat and it made me wonder.

Was Chibnall supposed to be the show runner after RTD? Did he watch RTD’s run and think oh boy I’ve got a story that can link with this!?

As someone who watched RTD’s run and then came back for Chibnall I’m not as fussed about the whole destruction of Gallifrey, that’s pretty much where I left Doctor Who. Personally I found the transition from 10’s story to 13’s quite smooth. 😊

Well, it looks like Chris ignores Moffats run, but as long as nothing else is stated I will just assume that the timeless child can only regenerate, because they fell through the interdimensional portal. A portal really similar to the time vortex. The timelords begin to travel in time and they realize that it is possible to get the regeneration energy through the time vortex too.

Thus far I only watched the first two episodes of the second doctor.

However, I get why he is always drawn with a recorder now.

Polly and Ben *both really freaked out and afraid because the Doctor was "replaced" and some random guy was just killed*: Doctor, what is going on?!?! What are we going to do??

I still can't fathom that people do that. Not only did Christopher Eccelston an incredible job, but the storyline of the first season is so great. Furthermore it simply doesn't make any sense. Like??? You would miss the introduction of important characters like Rose and Jack and wouldn't get inside jokes ("are you my mummy?") & storylines (bad wolf when Rose came back).

It's ike watching the twelfth doctor without watching the eleventh.
