/Minor unrelated thing underappreciated about the Lion Guard: did pretty good regarding female characters
#ooc.#//I think they understood that a lot of the early criticism was the gender ratio in the core cast#//(I still think Beshte should've been a girl and an elephant tho)#//but you can really see them make an effort to add a lot more major female characters to the main/recurring cast#//there's Jasiri. Reirei. Ma Tembo. Zuri and Tiifu. Shupavu#//more depth to Kiara#//even one-shots like Dhahabu. Kinyonga. Swala. Mpishi...all pretty great and really different from each other#//..I guess Rani and Vitani's Lion Guard if you want..#//Makini and Anga especially are my favourites. I think they're both really well written#//it would be so easy for Makini to come across as over-the-top and annoying but she never does#//she always has the right balance of comedy and sincerity and is legitimately a top-3 Lion Guard character#//on the flipside it would be easy for Anga to come across as cold and 'bitchy'#//but even though she's introverted and quiet that doesn't mean she can't care about her friends or show emotion and be excited for things#//she's like a more extreme early season-1 Fuli. Now that I think about it I wanna hear her sing 'My Own Way'#//I just wish she had been introduced early season 2#//so she could be recurring like Makini. As a result she doesn't get as much development and kind of wanes in importance#//the longer season 3 goes on (though tbh the same applies to the other guard members.#//Especially Ono. We don't even see his face in the final scene#//but anyway I really wish Makini and Anga had been Rafiki and Zazu's replacements for Kiara eventually. I used to want Ono to do that#//but he is just a mini Zazu. Anga is way more different#//a lot of people are quick to point out the show's flaws but I think it's important to realise what it did really really well

I finished the Lion Guard!! I really enjoyed and I’m glad I finally got to watch it after a couple of years of watching the music videos.
I have a few issues with season three so I wanted to talk about them, but these are just opinions so feel free to prove me wrong or add your own.
There was little to no information on the night pride. They’re a really cool group and I would have loved to learn more about them other than their names. Like what is the history of the night pride? What is each member’s role? And just more on who they are since all I got was Rani is the leader and Nirmala is the healer and that’s it. Not anything on Baliyo and Surak.
The random character of Binga. Why does she exist? She doesn’t need to exist. She’s literally just a pink girl Bunga and designed to be shipping fodder. Her character feels so unfinished and it’s frustrating because she’s just pink Bunga.
The weird flashback in ‘The Lake of Reflection’ that included Anga. I like her but she wasn’t originally apart of the lion guard and I don’t think she knew who the members were as a child?? But that’s more of a nit pick but I don’t understand why they involved her when I swear they left her out of a flash back early in the season.
Kion’s singer doesn’t match his voice actor. This is understandable but it’s so...jarring. It’s like Kion’s speaking then whenever he sings he sounds so different like he magically got older but then goes back to sounding like a teen or young adult.
Kion being so stand off-ish when he sees Vitani’s lion guard. I get that their the current lion guard but does he not recognise that they’ve been GONE for awhile? Also the fact they were just debating staying at the tree of life so they were kinda just...leaving the pride lands without any protection. However, I know this is for the sakes of the trails and drama to make the episode interesting since I doubt it’s be fun to see Kion just be “oh that makes sense. We have been gone” *gives Vitani the lion guard status or something*.
Kion’s and Rani’s relationship felt so out of place? Like don’t get me wrong it’s cute but the relationship didn’t really form over the period of the episodes. It just seemed like Rani saw Kion as a good leader and was like “yea he’ll do” unlike say Kiara’s and Kovu’s where you can see the relationship build. Although this can be down to the run time since this is a tv show and not movie but I guess more scenes with them interacting and growing close like say Binga and Bunga?
My final point would be...not enough hyena content. I want more hyena content dammit. Disney make a new series that focuses on the hyena’s stories.
