Freshman Leads Cal to 49-31 Win Over Arizona
BERKELEY — Jaydn Ott ran for 274 yards and three touchdowns and the Cal football team opened Pac-12 play with a resounding 49-31 victory over Arizona at Memorial Stadium.
Ott scored on a 73-yard run on only the second play from scrimmage, an improbable 18-yard TD in the third quarter after he had appeared to be stopped for a short gain, and then another 72-yard score to ice it late in the fourth.
"Every time I touch the ball, I feel like I'm going to score," Ott said. "That's my mentality."
It was the most rushing yards in a single game by an FBS player this season and the third-most in Cal history, trailing only Jahvid Best's 311 against Washington in 2008 and Jerry Drew's 283 against Oregon State in 1954.
"That's explosive," Coach Justin Wilcox said. "We've been talking about it for a long time. You've seen it in flashes. We saw it a bunch today. He's a dynamic guy and has the ability to take it to the house from a lot of spots."
Jack Plummer added three touchdown passes for the Golden Bears (3-1, 1-0), who won their sixth straight home game. It's their longest winning streak at Memorial Stadium since a nine-gamer in 2008-09.
A year after Arizona beat COVID-depleted Cal 10-3 at home for its only win in 2021, the teams exceeded that point total after both teams scored touchdowns on the opening drive. It was a back-and-forth, high-scoring affair in the first half with Ott scoring on a 73-yard run on the second play from scrimmage to set the tone.
The Wildcats were initially able to keep up with the Golden Bears, at least in the first half, as they also scored on four of their first five drives of the game. But Cal’s defense made adjustments at halftime and limited Arizona to only one score in the second half.
Cal kept retaking the lead throughout: Plummer threw a 16-yard TD pass to J. Michael Sturdivant in the second quarter and then gave the Bears the lead back early in the third when he found Keleki Latu from 3 yards out on fourth-and-1.
Ott added his second TD midway through the third quarter. He ran into a group of defenders at the 13 but his offensive linemen helped block, push, and then pull him free from the mob to allow him to score yet again to make it 35-24.
Ott added his second breakaway run late in the fourth quarter, this time a 72 yard scamper to the bank. It was an amazing display by the Freshman running back.

Harry’s very late Birthday Special!!
I grabbed the snack cakes we had found out in town recently. They had been hidden in the storage room so Harry wouldn’t find them. He was the one who usually prepped for dinner. Right now he was distracted, Judy had offered to go with him on a safe patrol. Today was his birthday and I really wanted to surprise my boyfriend. I held them close to my chest as I exited the room, making my way to 1-C. Ethan and Lawrence were standing on some desks, putting up a Happy Birthday banner. There were a few other decorations in the room and Eugene and Zion had found a game of twister. There were a few games for the fun day we had planned. Sue and Hailey were draping a blue tablecloth over the tables. Scarlett was making sure the banner was straight. Everyone had a job. “Jadyn, which one do you think he’ll want to play the most? Monopoly or twister?” Eugene asked. I laughed. “Are you guys seriously fighting over that? He’d be happy to play both.” I replied. Eugene stuck his tongue out at me. “You’re no fun..” He said. I could tell he was teasing. I stuck my hand in my pocket and clutched the matching bracelet set I had found out in town. We finished setting everything up. “Jadyn, will you go get them? They should be on the roof.” I nodded. Leaving the room and heading to the roof. Judy and Harry were giggling at each other.
I knew they were good friends. “Hey!!” I said making my presence known. Judy laughed. “Hey you! Come to steal your boyfriend back?” She asked. I laughed back nodding shyly. She went on her way back down the stairs while I walked over to Harry. Pressing a sweet kiss to his lips. “Happy Birthday..” I whispered. He smiled. “Thank you.” My arms wrapped around his neck and his wrapped around my waist, holding me close as we stared at one another. “You look pretty...” He ventured. I blushed. I had braided my unruly blonde hair with some fake flowers for the occasion. “Thank you.” I echoed. He laughed softly and we just stayed in each other’s embrace..before he began tickling me. I laughed, struggling to get away. “Harry stop…” I said between giggles. He only did when the door slammed open. It was Judy looking worried. “You guys come here!!” Her voice was urgent. “Judy what’s wrong?” I asked, trying to keep a smirk off my face. “Just Come here! Quick!” Harry and I chased after as she ran to 1-C. She threw open the door and turned quickly, shouting Happy Birthday in chorus with everyone to Harry who looked stunned. I laughed, grabbing his hand. “You guys..put all this together..?” He asked. “You have your girlfriend to thank. She wanted to do something special for you.. “ Lawrence told him. He looked at me and I blushed. “Well, just because we’re in an apocalypse doesn’t mean we can’t have fun…” Harry placed a kiss on my cheek. “I love it. Thank you guys!!” All the presents were neatly piled onto the table, all except mine. Well, Along with the bracelet set I had also found a teddy bear and a card. Even though the card was signed by everyone, the teddy bear was from me. Harry saw the chocolate and vanilla snack cakes. We had struck gold and found an entire box of each. Harry moved towards the card, looking at all the names signed on the inside, his face was beaming. Lawrence had found some old newspapers in the library and all the items were roughly wrapped in them. “Well open your stuff!!” Eugene encouraged. Harry laughed a little before obeying, carefully unwrapping everything. He picked up the first thing he saw. SUE was written on it in bold blue letters. He saw the book. “I don’t actually think I’ve ever heard of her before..” I shook my head. “Shel is a dude.. And he’s only known for some of the best poems ever written. They’re complicated but super fun.” I explained. He looked embarrassed but thanked Sue and continued on with the presents. They had all used the same sharpie. Eugene and Zion’s was wrapped together, making a very strange shape that puzzled Harry. But he opened it and laughed at the brush before thanking them for the deck of cards. Scarlett’s was next, It was made of plastic, but whenever Harry shook the snow globe the two figures dancing together on the ice rink would spin as the snow fell around them. “This is nice Scarlett, Thank you!” She told him he was welcome. Harry was surprised by the knife, but understood why it might be good to have one. The heavy bag of sweets intrigued him, but he opened it and understood. “I hope you plan on sharing..” Eugene teased. “Of course I will.” Harry said, grabbing a couple of starburst and popping one playfully into my mouth. I chewed it as I savored the taste of the pink starburst and Harry opened the next present. “I haven’t seen this game in years…” He ventured. It was the twister set. Ethan was next, Harry laughing but loving the thought of a kiddie bowling set. Judy was last. Harry noticed that the bear was holding something wrapped and he grabbed it. It was the pin. It was a simple giant smiley face and Harry loved it. “Thanks you guys, all of you!” He was happy with the bear as well. “Want some Cake?” LAwrence asked playfully. Harry grinned, taking one of the vanilla snack cakes and opening it. We ate and chatted happily, Zion and Eugene about the games they wanted to play. Twister seemed to be at the top of the list.. I was eager to play. It had been years since I had played twister. Harry was eager to play it himself. Everyone finished what they wanted of the sweet treat and I took Harry off to the side as the others set up the twister mat. “I have another present for you..” I whispered. He looked surprised. I took the bracelet set from my pocket and handed it to him. He looked at it. It was simplistic. An infinity sign running through the words his and hers. The double stranded black band was stretchy. The words a beautiful silver. He took it from me gingerly. “Sweetie I love it..” I smiled. Feeling happy. He took the ‘his’ off the cardboard and asked for my wrist before putting it on me. It fit perfectly. He took the ‘hers off and put it on himself before giving me a quick kiss. “Thank you..” I smiled as I gave him a hug. “You’re welcome. I’m glad you like it.” We were interrupted by Zion. “Oi, If you lovebirds are finished, twister is ready.” The mat was huge. Taking up a lot of space on the floor the others had to move some of the desks out of the way. First up was voted to be Harry, Judy, Ethan and me. We played for a good ten minutes before Judy tripped. This tripped Ethan, who tripped Harry and ultimately me. Judy was on the bottom with three people on top. We were in a fit of giggles from our failure. I rolled off the dog pile, followed by Harry, Ethan and finally Judy who was blushing like mad. She really liked Ethan. The others had a turn on the twister mat before we decided to move on to something else. “Anyone want to play Monopoly?” Judy questioned. “Duh!!” Eugene replied. We set it up. We played for at least two hours, all of us taking turns. “Aaand Hahahah you owe me moola birthday boy!” Eugene teased as Harry’s scottie the dog piece landed on boardwalk. “You’re gonna make me go bankrupt Gene..” Harry replied. “Just wait till I put a hotel, then you’ll owe me triple.” I laughed. “You say that but I own the best properties in the game!” I cheered. “Whatever! Everyone knows boardwalk and park place are the best!” Eugene argued. “Someone has to land on them first!” I replied. He stuck his tongue out at me before munching on his chips. “My turn!” Judy cheered. She rolled doubles. “Oooo better not do that again!!” I warned. “Aaand hah!” She passed go. “200 monop money if you please!!” she said turning to Lawrence who had agreed to be the banker. He gave her 200 in monopoly money. She rolled again and rolled a five. When we got bored of Monopoly (Harry won. At the end Lawrence made a rule that Harry had to have a birthday bonus.) Everyone thought it was funny. Bowling was next. Harry and I formed a team. Then it was Judy and Ethan. Scarlett and Zion. Eugene and Sue, and Jay and Hailey. Lawrence offered to keep score. Everyone used the heavy plastic ball and we had the time of our lives. I gave Harry a kiss every time he scored well. We fell into a fit of giggles when Judy’s shot went completely off and rolled under a bunch of desks. It was our only ball, so I went after it, being the smallest of the group. When I came back Judy thanked me and Harry felt kind of bad as he picked a couple of dust bunnies out of my braided hair. We continued to bowl until it got dark. We had found candles and sat around the desks as we played card games with the new deck of cards. Bullshit was one game. Poker was another. Zion and Lawrence had found a bunch of Alcohol, and we sat around drinking different drinks as we played cards. I teased Zion as he sipped his vodka. “You look like an old man at a frat party..” He laughs, “What can I say? I grew up watching old men drink at gala’s.” He replied, earning another laugh from me. The entire atmosphere was relaxed. Zion won poker but Eugene was the only one who bet against him so he had to give up the next bag of chips. Next up was Slapjack. We were all having the time of our lives until we got a little too into it and moved the desks, making the game into fifty-two card pick up. We separated a little bit after that. The others going off and playing other games or drinking. Judy had confessed her feelings to Ethan. Turned out the quiet boy reciprocated and they held hands for the rest of the night. “Who wants Tequila!!!” Judy called. Harry and I had been munching on candy and even though Tequila shots looked like fun he looked positively beat. It was getting late. “Are you alright?” I whispered. He nodded. “Just a bit tired..” He confessed. “Do you want to go to bed?” I asked. He looked at me. “I don’t want to ruin your fun..” He ventured. I smiled, my hand coming to rest gently on his cheek. “You will not ruin my fun by admitting you want to sleep.. I like spending time with you, even if that’s just cuddles..” I assured him. He smiled, feeling a bit better about it. “Now let me try again.. Do you want to go to bed?” I asked. A playful kind of smile playing on my lips. He nodded. “That would be awesome..” I nodded before standing. Extending my hands to help my sleepy boyfriend from the floor. He took them and got up, catching his balance easily. “Guys, we’re heading off to bed. My baby birthday boy is tired and I could use the rest myself..” I told them. They all accepted it. “Alright. Don’t do anything I wouldn’t..” Zion teased. I snorted but gave no reply and this just made his jaw drop and I quickly exited the room holding Harry’s hand as they all said goodnight and gave some final ‘Happy Birthdays’ to him. We bid them all goodnight and he told them thanks one last time both for the wishes and the presents. “Feel free to keep partying guys..” He told them. They had already planned on doing just that and with that we exited the room to the hallway. I made my way to his room, now the room we shared on occasion. Opening the door and leading him in before closing it. Harry slipped off his hoodie and went straight to the bed and I slipped off the light jacket I was wearing and laid down behind him. “Are you alright?” I asked. He nodded before speaking. “This is the best birthday I’ve had in a long time..” He ventured. I was surprised. “Really?” He nodded against me but said nothing more. I wrapped my arm around him, pulling him close even though he was much bigger than me. He held my hand against him, giving it a chaste kiss and I rested my head in the crook of his neck. “I’m not going anywhere.. So you just rest..” I whispered. His breathing gradually became even and I whispered one last thing before drifting off to dream-land myself. “Happy Birthday, my love..”

Wandering into the cauldron her eyes quickly found the reason she’d been drawn there before making her entrance at the Lair. A second head of pure white hair now graced the witch's lounge, something that didn’t happen often considering there weren’t many touched by ice. In either Auradon or the Isle. Moving through the crowd that was growing as the night kicked off, the coven already dancing and the lights dimming. Giving it that dark, mysterious feeling that added to its reputation, something she adored as a half succubus.
“Is your touch as lethal as your sisters?” She mused, easily falling into the seat next to the other female, a lazy grin upon her lips.

MED STUDENTS
(Y estudiantes de psicología o cualquier otra cosa que pueda servir en un hospital).
De forma IC @prcygalen le dio la idea a Harley de un grupo de estudio médico que ha evolucionado a la idea de echar a andar el hospital y colocar a todos los pjs que estudiaban medicina en un área.
Tenemos contados a Harley, Sebastian, Taemin, Summer y Alex, pero sabemos que faltan más, así que los que restan, manden un IM a la cuenta de Harley o respondan a esta publicación :)
Por ahora, estamos regidos así: todos los personajes pueden tener su área específica, pero también tienen que atender cualquier caso grave que se de en urgencias, por ende, todos son médicos de urgencias de cajón.
En cuanto a las especialidades, tenemos anotadas estas que son las más necesarias en el momento:
Harley Kim: Cabecilla de urgencias medicas.
Sebastian Hargrove: Médico de consultas especializadas, Cabecilla de Psiquiatría.
Alexander Ignatiev: Médico de consultas sencillas: Gastroenterología, pediatría.
Taemin Bang: Enfermería, ayudante en urgencias y consultas sencillas.
Summer Lee: Cabecilla de Ginecología.
Cassian Scheidemann: Neurólogo
Elid Kumar: Cirujano de urgencias
Willa Shwetz: Laboratorio, consultas especializadas.
Percy Galen: Ayudante general
Heinz Ahlbrecht: Médico forense
Así que, por favor, si su pj estudiaba medicina, respondan en qué área les gustaría ser colocados.
También pensábamos en un pequeño centro de salud mental que arranque después de la muerte de Jacob, regido por Sebastian y maybe un psicólogo más(? o algún pj que sea bueno hablando con la gente(? en donde los pjs puedan ir a hablar con alguien y llevar una terapia si no están sintiéndose bien o incluso retomar una terapia que ya llevaban.
Por último, pero no menos importante, necesitamos recepcionistas(? camilleros(? ambulancia(? personas que estén contando y llevando un inventario de los medicamentos(? alguna cosa en la que sus pjs puedan ayudar si se necesita, no es necesario que hayan estudiado medicina porque pueden aprender.

ATRAPADOS!!! como dije en mi post de despedida (rip), llevaba tiempo sin entrar a un rp donde me sintiera cómoda, tanto ic como ooc. cuando me uní pensé que nadie se iba a aguantar a jadyn, mucho menos a percy, pero me sorprendió la respuesta positiva y como los aceptaron de una. al principio hablaba con muy, muy, muy poca gente y era más que nada para arreglar tramitas y conexiones, pero a medida que avanzaba el rp charlé con muchos más e incluso terminé en el grupo de whatsapp (la peor decisión de mi vida. no mentira)!! amaba los anons locos que mandaban, a king romeo y los momentos donde perdíamos la cabeza y publicabamos vídeos y memes en el blog ooc. entrar a atrapados y responder convos (y anons locos) era mi momento favorito del día porque me desconectaba de toda la locura de mi vida diaria, de mi familia e incluso de mi misma, porque dejaba de preocuparme por un rato y podía respirar. extraño el rp, demasiado, pero me alegra que podamos seguir todos en contacto y desarrollando a nuestros niños en los indies. tenía muuuuuuuchas tramas que quería desarrollar, como a jadyn con evan/julia/toby, a percy cuando su secreto (y el de jesse) salgan a la luz y también a percy con todos sus amores (percy era el nico cabre del rp. si no saben quien es nico cabre googleen nico cabre + novias).

It’s owned by two of the city’s natives! Detroit's first Black woman-owned figure skating club has officially opened its doors, Detroit Free Press reports. Angela Blocker-Loyd started figure skating when she was just 9-years-old, becoming one of the youngest skaters at the Berkley Ice Arena and Recreation Center. There, she met her lifelong friend and future business partner, Candice Tamakloe, who at 14 years old, took the younger skater under her wing. “Angie was the little skater and I was the big skater. We were also only two of a few African American skaters at Berkley, and I had been skating there for a few years, so I took her on as a little sister,” recalled Tamakloe. Tamakloe went on to skate competitively through high school, skating at the junior level and testing through the senior freestyle, the highest level to attain for an amateur skater. Blocker Loyd also continued with her passion of skating, competing as a teen as well. Now the two women have decided to come back to their first loves, joining forces to open up the Dream Detroit Skating Academy (DDSA), the city's first female-owned figure skating academy and the only Black-owned figure skating club in the state of Michigan. Both women are running DDSA alongside skating coach Crystal Stewart. SCORPION 3x12 THOUGHT:
The moment, when after another re-watch of certain scenes of SCORPION episode 312 ICE CA-CABES, you realize that you forgot to say/post certain thoughts about the episode during the liveblog, because you were too emotionally “invested” in what was happening on screen. So let’s try to fix that...now.
1. THE TEAM AND FAMILY DYNAMICS. THE KIDDOS TRYING TO SAVE PAPA CABE.
Everything about it. It would take too long to write about everything that made it so amazing. But: everything about the team and family dynamics/relationships within the team/between the characters.
2. EVERYONE’S PERSONAL “GOODBYE” MOMENT.
3. THE CAST. THE ACTING. THE TALENT.
I’ll focus on the geniuses right now: I am always amazed at Elyes’ perfect portrayal of the low-EQ Walter; and Ari’s portrayal of the young & anxious, but brave Sly; and of course by Jadyn’s portrayal of the “tough on the outside, softie/emotionally vulnerable on the inside” Happy.
But but this week the biggest kudos and applause go to EKT as Toby. Toby’s cracking voice, his doubt in his doctor abilities, his teary eyes, and his inner fight with his “anxiousness” (we know from 1x11 that he can get very shaken up when someone close to him is in danger) were.. wow!
Toby with his medical knowledge and skills was the one who could and did save Cabe. He was very “emotional” about the situation, but he managed to not only compose himself and do the doc thing, but also be there for the others Like Happy.. in a way. (and I think that besides the fact that the writers needed certain characters to do certain tasks, when dividing the tasks needed differently would have been more effective... Happy or Walt get the snake, Sly or Walt get the sulfur/help him... it also makes sense from character POV that he kept Happy there with him...because they are better as a team and have that calming effect on each other. see 2x17) It was so very Toby do do all that. And while he almost broke down (as we first saw in 1x11), he did not. He carried a most of the weight on him during the “Save Cabe” mission.
And if Happy wasn’t as shaken up, plus grossed out about the blood, then those moments would have been perfect for an “attaboy”, a small reassuring gesture from her. But she was as affected, and as shaken up. Good thing is that her mere presence has a calming effect on him - having her there with him, and working as a team to save their friend did the trick. He was able to focus and take charge of the situation (giving everyone orders on what to do to save Cabe), and put his doctor skills to use, and focus and do the doctor thing...
And I cannot wait for the episode where...soon... Toby is gonna be the one who “breaks down” and needs (emotional) support, and Happy, whose EQ is evolving... daily/weekly is able to take on that task...which is usually Toby’s on this team, and be the one to carry the weight - be the shoulder he will lean on/cry on. I hope we’ll get to see that switch/reversal... in s3.
I mean... Walter’s “not ready to process this yet” reaction, Happy’s “yelling and kicking things” reaction, and Sly’s “no, no, no... scared” reaction were so very in character and expected. But the fact that we got to see Toby’s very emotional reaction, was great. Those scenes are rare, but always appreciated. And really... I appreciate EKT acting during those scenes even more after re-watching the episode.
Basically... this is a “Scorpion cast appreciation post”, and this week especially “EKT appreciation post” We don’t see Toby this moved often, as he is the fun character... in core, but the times when Toby shows different sides of himself... are always great. And both EKT and Toby were A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. in this episode. Huge kudos!

San Francisco police increase patrols following recent assaults against Asian Americans
On Wednesday, a man and a woman, both of Asian descent, were assaulted in San Francisco in separate attacks by the same alleged suspect, police said.
Separately, three men were arrested for their alleged involvement in an assault and robbery of an Asian American man last month inside a San Francisco laundromat.
The police patrols are being increased in coordination with local Asian American and Pacific Islander community organizations, the department said Wednesday.
Violence toward Asian Americans has spiked nationwide, coinciding with the Covid-19 pandemic. Several unprovoked attacks against elderly Asian Americans in the Bay Area this year led, in part, to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office creating a special response unit focused on crimes against Asians, particularly older Asians.
Vicha Ratanapakdee, an 84-year-old from Thailand, died after he was abruptly attacked while out on a morning walk on January 28, according to San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin. A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and elder abuse in the case, he said.
In Oakland’s Chinatown neighborhood, police said a man violently shoved three unsuspecting people on January 31, injuring a 91-year-old man, 60-year-old man and 55-year-old woman. A 28-year-old man has been charged with three counts of felony assault for the attacks, according to charging documents.
Elsewhere in California, in response to increases in attacks against people of Asian descent, Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva and the LA County Sheriff’s Department are meeting with groups in Asian American communities this week to spread awareness and encourages citizens to report threats or suspicious activity.
San Francisco Mayor London Breed, regarding the patrols announced Wednesday, said, “No one should have to live in fear that their race or ethnicity could make them a victim.”
Two people attacked within minutes in San Francisco
On Wednesday morning in San Francisco, an Asian man and woman were assaulted by the same suspect in separate attacks, police said.
“Investigators are working to determine if bias was a motivating factor in the incident,” San Francisco Police Officer Adam Lobsinger said in a statement.
The aftermath of the clash was caught on video by Appradab affiliate KPIX. The footage shows a crowd including police officers and paramedics gathered around an Asian woman, who holds an ice pack to the side of her head and face while crying out. A man can be seen on a gurney handcuffed as he is treated by a paramedic.
“He hit people,” the woman is heard saying in the video, speaking in Cantonese. “He bullies old people,” she said, “so I gave a punch.”
The woman says to the man “You jerk,” then tells police, “He bullied me, he bullied me, jerk.”
Both the suspect, a 39-year-old man, and the 75-year-old woman were taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, Lobsinger said, with the suspect treated for “an unrelated, prior medical condition.”
Officers had been called after an earlier attack on an 83-year-old man, Lobsinger said. A local security guard pursued the suspect on foot, Lobsinger said, and as he was fleeing, police say he assaulted the woman.
The injured woman told KPIX she had been leaning against a utility pole when the man punched her without provocation.
The victims and suspect have not been officially identified and the incident remains under investigation.
Arrests made in laundromat assault caught on video
Three young men were arrested Wednesday for allegedly robbing and assaulting an older Asian man last month in an attack caught on surveillance video inside a San Francisco laundromat.
The Feb. 23 assault occurred near the Nob Hill and Chinatown neighborhoods. An Asian American man had just taken a seat inside the laundromat when three people charged in, threw down the man and violently robbed him, surveillance video obtained by Appradab affiliate KGO-TV showed.
The 67-year-old victim, who was not identified, suffered non-life threatening injuries from the attack, police said.
The men arrested were identified by police as Calvin Berschell, Jason Orozco, and Nolowde Beshears. All three are 19 years old and live in Antioch, California, a suburban community located about 45 miles east of San Francisco.
Arrest warrants were served early Wednesday morning in Antioch and all three were taken into custody without incident, according to a release from SFPD. While executing a search warrant, police seized two weapons and evidence relating to the robbery.
Court dates and bail have not yet been set. It is unclear if any of the three men retained attorneys.
Police expect the men to be charged with burglary robbery, elder abuse, and assault. A case has not yet been presented to the District Attorney’s office, according to spokeswoman Rachel Marshall.

Okay my girl is a battle master fighter so she kills a lot of shit, but I’m still particularly proud of smashing a floating flaming skull to the ground with my hammer. WAIT ALSO one time my boyfriend froze an evil mage in a block of ice with his frost hammer and then I shattered it into a million tiny pieces. That was fucking awesome.

Antartica isn’t as cold as the shoulder that Jamie sent his way, honestly I’m surprised the guy wasn’t turned to ice after that brush off. He strikes me as the kind of guy that’s used to getting what he wants so it must have been quite the shock to the system. I’m sure there’s plenty of people in Aramore that are willing to be the shoulder he can cry on.

The Rundown - Prospect Week
With every Canada West school on break for exams and the holiday season, The Rundown has very little to report. If you follow along on this blog, though, I try to keep up with the recruits that the schools have been announcing, and there have been many thus far for the eight teams in western Canada. I follow CollegeCommitments.com for all the recruiting that happens in U SPORTS and the NCAA, but even they miss some of the announcements. Honestly, you should bookmark that site because they do good work even if they miss an announcement or two. I just wish they'd remove some of the old recruiting information. Nevertheless, I want to run down the list of players for each Canada West school this week because the recruiting staffs have been very hard at work! Please note that stats are current as of today as best that I could find.

I'm not sure if you want to call this a rebuild, but Manitoba seems to have recruited half of a team. In any case, Dennehy leads the SMA Flames in goals and scoring while teammate Gregoire is second in points. Edwards leads the Capitals in goals and points. Ricklefs and Kunnas have great chemistry with Thunder Bay in previous games I've witnessed (why doesn't their website show stats???) where they've been the most dangerous players on the ice for the Queens. Polina Gocharova is a Russian-born player playing at with the HTI Stars in Toronto as Manitoba dips back into international waters for a player!

Regina did a great job in recruiting Westman's top goal scorer and points producer in Hubbard, and she'll be joined by O'Toole who has been dynamite from the blue line. Fiske and Kushniurk will be solid secondary scorers, so credit Sarah Hodges and her staff for a solid recruiting class thus far.

Steve Kook won't be done with his recruiting, but getting Prince Albert's top points producer this season is a good start in any recruiting class. It should be noted that Saskatchewan also inked a commitment from Jasper Desmarais from Prince Albert for the 2020-21 season. It appears the Huskies are solidifying their squad for years to come!
You might be wondering how you can catch a glimpse of these next Canada West all-stars, and I can tell you there is a way to do so. From January 31 to February 3, the Female World Sport School Challenge will be held at the BellMTS Iceplex in Winnipeg, and there are ten teams listed above participating in this tournament! The only Canada West teams to not have a recruit at this tournament as it stands are Calgary and Saskatchewan, but I suspect they'll have scouts in attendance as this tournament attracts eyes from schools all over North America! If you can swing the trip to the Manitoba capital, I highly suggest you catch this tournament because it literally is the best of the best sport schools and AAA teams from across Canada - with a few US teams mixed in - at this event!
Alternatively, if you cannot make it, but want to see the games, the host school in St. Mary's Academy partners with HockeyTV for your viewing pleasure (for a fee). I am proud to announce that, for the third-straight year, St. Mary's will partner with UMFM for your listening pleasure (for free) in broadcasting all the games from the Canadian Tire rink at BellMTS Iceplex. Adding even more craziness to the weekend, The Hockey Show will be live from BellMTS Iceplex on January 31 as the show will directly into the 6:40pm game between the Thunder Bay Queens and the Eastman Selects! If you're a fan of the Bisons, you'll get to see three players who will wear the brown-and-gold next season in that game if you make it down to the rink.
