Oh yeah for sure. So my rule of thumb is try to keep the reader as vague physically as possible or make generalized movements that would work for most body types, hairs etc.

Running fingers through hair vs Shifted part of your hair

For example, avoiding “running their fingers through your hair”. Many black people, like myself, wear our hair natural. You can’t really do that action in most cases as the fingers would get caught into the curls and be a hot mess.

When saying shifted, you know the character is touching your hair but you don’t know in what capacity thus making it more inclusive to natural hair, short hair, etc.

It’s always good to describe how the reader is flustered than just saying they got red. I myself, don’t turn red due to my melanin, however—my cheeks still warm, they still raise up, my lips quiver, etc. Utilizing those description than the one “red” one goes a long way

“Fair skin”

Don’t use this at all. Fair often is a synonym for pale aka white thus excludes melanated people out.
