ok SO the headspace changes DRASTICALLY like every few months or few weeks or so. Just a week ago it was a copy of the house we currently live in. We like,,, grew up in this house so it was Also our headspace for years as a kid and we had the vibe tht it was. The exact headspace frlm back then too bUT WE never did get to find out bc it changed AGAIN like a few days ago. smh. Now i think we're just above & outside of The Cave™™™™™ tht was discovered here earlier this year. WHICH IS REALLY FUCKING COOL! BECAUSE THAT MEANS:

July 28: 3x01 Spock’s Brain

Today’s ep was the infamous Spock’s Brain. I’d never seen it before and always insisted I didn’t want to but...this is a complete rewatch so I guess I kinda had to.

As predicted, it was bad. Utter nonsense for a premise and the actual execution shot through with sexism. There were some aspects that I did like but most of them have been done better by other eps--and in any case were not worth the ridiculous basis of the ep itself. Honestly, if I were watching all this live, and I waited months for this, I might have wondered if the show weren’t better off cancelled.

But I would have been wrong because the next ep is The Enterprise Incident so! Sometimes you just need to be patient.

This episode is starting out so strangely. Why is the bridge being shot from all these weird angles? And why do the colors seem...duller?

They really can spy on these other ships, huh?

“My name is Captain James Kirk.” Not breaking out the middle initial today, I see.

Chapel going for the drama as she falls down.

Kirk too, sprawled over his chair. (Makes me think of “The chair is, in fact, not bolted to the ground.”)

This honestly reads like a bad parody of Star Trek.

Ridiculous lines include: “His brain is gone.” “His incredible Vulcan physique.” “In search of his brain.” “Where are you going to look for his brain?” “It was taken out, it can be put back in.”

“Spock’s body is more dependent on his brain” than a human’s. Ummmm I feel like there’s something suspicious in there.

The only good thing about this ep is Kirk’s devotion to Spock.

Seriously why does the bridge look so different? Filming it from a different location changes everything.

When Kirk paces in front of the view screen, it really shows off how small it is.

“The spaceship that has Spock’s brain.”

I like these schematics and Chekov’s little presentation here. Also Kirk can automatically put years to all the planet evolution codes or whatever--like on the one hand, of course he can, that’s his job, but on another... what a nerd.

Honestly these people--obviously, they are underground on the ice planet. Obviously!!! I actually do appreciate this scene in general, with the bridge crew working out a problem on the bridge, which actually almost never happens--it’s definitely the best scene of the ep--but still. It’s obviously the ice planet.

Also, I like that Uhura gets to contribute. She thinks outside of the box, asks the good questions. Don’t just look at the outside evolution of the planet--ask about what the brain could be used for, and where it might be.

“Get there, find the brain.”

Oh no, he accidentally called Scotty Spock :(

“High of 40. Livable.” I realize this is a Russian joke but that’s really not that bad lol. Definitely not an ice age anymore.

“They give pain and delight.” So they’re dominatrixes?

“You are small.” Well no need to be mean about it.

Don’t you have a companion?? Love that that’s one of their synonyms for “spouse” or “partner.”

The alien men look like they’re wearing short jean skirts.

“A dead and buried city on a planet in a glacial age.” That’s a good idea. Could have done something better with that.

Chekov’s still stuck on the no women thing, I think.

Why did they dress Spock in a leftover outfit from This Side of Paradise?

McCoy and his stimulants again, waking up the alien lady after they stunned her. Multi-purpose.

“I know nothing about a brain.” Clearly.

So all the women live below ground, and all the men live above...

Ah-ha, they have found Spock’s voice.

“There is a definite pleasurable experience connected with the hearing of your voice.” This ep is almost worth it for that line.

Also Kirk’s face when he hears Spock’s voice.

I like that Spock is still funny. Honestly he’s probably funnier disembodied. This is a very humorous Spock characterization. “That is a practical idea. It seems unlikely that I shall be able to get to you.”

WHAT IS BRAIN.

They’re being quite sexist, aren’t they? “No engineering geniuses here. Only women. None of these women could ever have done surgery on Spock’s brain.” Like I know it’s that they’re obviously (or supposedly obviously) naive and childlike but like combining that with the sex segregated society and the actual phrasing of these lines (WOMEN?? Engineers?? Doctors??) plus Kirk assuming the Controller is a man (who says?) all creates this like definite sexist vibe while watching. Ugh make it stop.

How can Spock’s brain control everything? They’ve only had it for 5 minutes.

“Mistress.” I told you they were dominatrixes.

Oh yeah Captain Sulu!!

More sexist quotes: “What a way to maintain control over a man.” “I’ve certainly noticed their delightful aspects.” Please stop talking; you’re digging yourselves in a deeper hole.

(Seriously though--I feel like the unspoken world building fact here is that the women need the men for procreation specifically, which is why they capture the men, and then control them--using the “pain belts”--to have sex--the “pleasure.” They probably also use them for other labor, given the presence of the male guards and the line “they won’t help us if we don’t control them” or whatever it was. But surely the delightfulness of the women is more than their physical appearance, is what I’m saying.)

What is the commentary on gender here? Women = scary, dumb, and hot?

Yeah, how DOES Spock’s brain fit into this?

Lol at Spock’s empty body calmly watching them all fighting.

“Science will triumph.” A real lost opportunity in the AOS-verse to have Kirk say this after a bar brawl.

“You are a disembodied brain.” I feel like there’s a (McCoy) joke in here about how he’s reached his ideal state.

His body is the building. (I was right, I totally called this plot point as soon as Spock started talking about his incredibly large body and how his brain was still doing things like regulating oxygen. I must say... this is not a bad idea, except for the brain stealing part. Like there’s something in there, the idea of the complex as a body, powered by a brain. Idk.)

So basically Spock is taking another opportunity to insult Bones’ medical skills. Oh Spock, never change.

I feel like Bones is enjoying his Spock puppet, on some level.

“Pain bands.”

Use the Spock puppet, Kirk! Use it to fight the lady alien!

“The controller is young and powerful, perfect.” / “How very flattering.” LOL I can’t believe this is real.

“You took his brain. You will put it back.”

So the alien lady puts on the spiky helmet and now she’s suddenly smart. I hate thissssssssssss.

(I actually do think the idea of old knowledge stored outside of the... brains...of the current generation, for their own protection, as decided by the paternalist elders... is not itself a bad concept. Of course it’s also a concept that other eps did better, like The Apple or For the World is Hollow or even Return of the Archons. Again, combining it with all the gross things they said about women earlier just leaves a bad taste. Even though--even though!!--we don’t know who the elder people were. Like, was this a matriarchal society that saved the women in the underground because they were better? Or was it a patriarchal society that put the women in the underground because they were considered weak and in need of protection? I rather assumed the second, but I think there’s some evidence for the first, in particular, that the story reeks of Sexualized Male Fear. What’s a better combination of hot and scary than a matriarchy of women in short skirts?)

“Got your gun.” (But the other way around.)

“Our need for the Controller is more important than your need for your friend.” That sounds an awful lot like “The needs of the many outweigh needs of the one” and we all know what Kirk thinks about that. That said, he’s really not...engaging with her facially fair argument at all.

“No one may kill a man. Not for any purpose. It cannot be condoned.”

Love Scotty’s acting skills. Gotta get this gun back really fast--create a diversion by fainting! But not too much!

I do love McCoy. He’s an adventurer too. He pretends he’s not but he jumps at the chance to discover and learn. He will not hesitate to put himself in danger if it’s for the common good or to protect his friends.

“Put the teacher on.”

Now finally Kirk is engaging with the fate of the society he’s encountered lol. Like, again, he’s not wrong; they’ve stagnated under the computer/controller and it’s not moral to steal from someone else to keep your comfortable and boring life going when you could just do the work yourself, but coming this late, it feels like an afterthought. It’s also weird that she just like stood by and let them take Spock and his brain after all that to do about...not letting them have the brain. Like at the end of the day she was not so inept. Also, they never explained what happens to all the knowledge in the teacher. One would assume they’d have to access it--or not? They’re just to start from scratch? Also legit I guess. And finally... all I can really hear, in the emphasis on integrating with the men again, is “You’ll learn how to develop a society naturally and also about heterosexual sex wink wink.” (Except that as I said... I think they know about that.)

I see McCoy’s regretting that “child’s play” talk now.

“Give priority to reconnecting Spock’s vocal cords.” Yep that’s how the brain works for sure.

Wow Spock really does have to do everything himself. Including operate on himself.

“This Vulcan is telling me how to operate.”

How did he operate without...opening Spock’s skull... in any way??

Not to question the verisimilitude of Spock’s Brain lol.

Everyone’s being so rude--Spock is providing valuable last minute exposition/explanation about this weird-ass society!

It’s always odd when they don’t return to the bridge. Like, they’re not going to collect Chekov?

That was... something.

I liked a few things: any excuse for Kirk to be devoted to Spock; the humor Spock showed; I liked the bridge scene where they looked at the map of the planets; and I liked certain things about the premise of the episode, although, like I said, most of the general aspects (post-disaster society, reliance on computers, etc.) had been done better in other episodes. I liked the look into the Male Brain lol.

What I didn’t like was how outright ridiculous the basic catalyzing event was--Spock’s brain has been literally stolen like??? Are you kidding me? That led to a considerable amount of dialogue that read like a Star Trek parody. Did not like that. And of course, as I said... the sexism. I think I’ve unpacked that enough. It didn’t need to be sexist, and you can explain it in a way that’s not, but the vibe sure was. It was like... well a lot of TOS is like this imo. You can give it an A (or at least a B) for effort, but what comes out is so obviously tainted by the sexism of the creators. Like, for example, how they say they believe in women who are just as capable and professional as men, but struggle to show it. This ep wanted to show a matriarchal society but it wasn’t really a matriarchal society--it was a Freudian dream that was all about the male psyche and what it most fears and wants.

All that said.. the next ep is a D.C. Fontana creation featuring one of my favorite TOS Ladies, the Female Romulan Commander, so I will be receiving a consolation prize.

Also the AOS verse is still more sexist and doesn’t have an excuse I said what I said.

AMA TRANSCRIPT: Fake News!

In our first AMA of the season, @trueeasiann answered questions about her Resbang, Fake News! Read all the insider info below!

Q: First of all, because I’m always curious about what inspired stuff, what gave you the idea to write this resbang and put it in an office setting?

Whinnie: Hmm that's a good question lmao. I know there are quite a few soma office AUs out there but they seemed very 'corporate' and I wanted to explore an office environment that's a little more different? Also, I’m very biased but I work in tech LMAO... and I wanted to share some of the fun(ny) experiences I’ve had with my coworkers!

Q: By any chance... was a real experience playing ping pong with a coworker? I was very amused at Patty whooping Blackstar ahaha

Whinnie: Lmao yes I love working in tech! I've had the honour of getting the chance to work in both a smaller startup environment and a larger corporation, and the startup experience is just so much better because it's more flexible, less redundant, and I find you have more freedom to get things done. The dialogue during the ping pong isn't exact but yes, my friends at work do play a lot of ping pong and there is a lot of smack talking and I have one friend who randomly yells out from time to time while playing (or talking in general lmao) and he really reminds me of Blackstar HAHA.

Q: Did you have a favorite scene or scenes to write?

Whinnie: I really enjoyed writing the ramen scene, where Soul and Maka first get to really know each other outside of work. The dialogue came really easy to me for that, but I also enjoyed writing the coffee shop conversation between Black Star and Maka. Re-reading that scene now gives me a laugh at all the ridiculous stuff I made BS say lmao.

Q: I really enjoyed the sorta sibling vibes that Maka and Star convos had. He is always so extra.

Whinnie: I know it's kind of an overdone trope, to make Maka and BlackStar childhood friends or friends that know each other from way back (in this case, from college), but I feel like that's the only reason Maka puts up with him HAHA.

Q: You mentioned in your footnote at the end that this was your first fandom event. did the event schedule affect your usual writing habits at all, or your process for how you put it all together?

Whinnie: Well, before this, I hadn't written for like 4 or 5 years LOL. So I didn't really have any writing habits that were affected? But this was my first time writing on a deadline, and my first time writing a full multi-chapter story (as I like to stick to one-shots) so this was the first time where I started way "ahead" of time (I say ahead in quotations because my time of perception is really off lmao and I always end up starting stuff late anyway) this was also the first time where I was writing while juggling other things. I had my full-time job and also some other extracurriculars that I had to maintain. It's not as easy as writing in high school where you can just write all day LOL and not worry about putting dinner on the table or waking yourself on time the next morning for work. So I would do like work until 6 pm, come back and eat dinner, maybe catch up on some other things like messages, and then write until 3 or 4 or 5 in the morning lol because that was the only free time I had.

Question: When I read that footnote about writing in a car during your friend's wedding to make a deadline, I was floored!

Whinnie: LMFAOOOO yeah that was a wild time. so the wedding was actually one of my old coworker's and I got a ride with my other coworker and his GF. And when we arrived I was like "Ummmm I'm still not done so I'm gonna have to ask you something weird. Can you just lock me in the car and I'll come in like 10 mins?" LOOOL… But also part of it was my fault with, again, not budgeting enough time for myself. Like, I didn't start regularly working on my resbang until December. So for that whole month leading up to my posting date, I just didn't have a social life LMAO. And I also ended up taking the day before my posting date and my posting date itself off work because I knew I would stay up all night finishing it LOOOL. I also hope I never have to do that again LOOOL. It was really rough And I have a really bad habit from high school of staying up late and not getting enough sleep and so I kind of reverted back to that schedule… even now that resbang is done.

Q: Yeah, this sounds like it was a good learning experience at least! About your limits, how quickly you work, etc… And oh no, sounds like the habit tracker Soul and Maka did might be something to use!

Whinnie: YES, absolutely haha. I saw that while I was browsing Reddit and thought it was really cool, and I thought that if people are going to read my fic, I might as well offer them something useful as well haha.

Q: Did you know where you wanted the fic to go or did you kind of let it all happen as it went?

Whinnie: Hmmmm, well obviously Soul and Maka getting together was the end goal and I knew that I wanted to write it from Maka's POV (since I find that a lot of fics are written from Soul's or a mix of both), and that I wanted it to be relatable. So I thought it was plausible that both of them would bond over their shared imposter syndrome. And I did have an outline but it was very high level and vague, so I ended up adding more stuff. I also didn't want there to be any awkward jumps, like "wow one second she hated his guts and now she likes him?" so the granola bar scene, that wasn't what I originally intended on adding but it made more sense to have it before the ramen scene. I did want to add more to the ending like a scene of Soul and Maka just living life together after confessing to each other. But alas I didn't have enough time.

Q: I also really liked how you wrote Maka as bi! there seems to be a large chunk of fandom that writes her as Ace, so it was neat to see her thru another LGBTQ lens. did you always want to write her as bi, or did that come along after you'd started?

Whinnie: Thank you! Yes, I did notice that as well, and I can definitely see her as Ace and not interested in anything sexual at all -- or heck, even Demi (which I did write her as in my other recent fic.) But I was surprised that no one has written her as bi, or even in any serious yuri relationships let alone in a relationship with Tsugumi (especially since Tsugumi seems to really like and look up to Maka LOL) so I thought that would be interesting to explore. Especially since I also identify as bi.

Q: Do you have any other Soul Eater writing in the works?

Whinnie: Well I have some vague ideas, but not right now -- after resbang came the "resbangover" (resbang hangover) LMAO and I wanted to delve back into some of my other hobbies like music, so I've been taking a break from writing fic. But who knows, maybe I will write again soon... I do want to participate in Soul/Maka week!

𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆: rose x taylor.

𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐆𝐆𝐄𝐑𝐒: sex referenced.

𝐃𝐄𝐓𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐒: rose goes to assist taylor with his final paper, and gets so much more out of it. in the hopes of having something special, rose lets her guard down for the nicest guy she has ever met.

Rosemary Hollingsworth was not easily fooled by women, but boys were another story. Taylor was just so cute and helpless, like he needed her. Men who needed her was definitely a weakness of hers, she loved feeling helpful. She didn't even notice that he was taking advantage of her homework and assignments, blatantly copying or having her do the work for him as an example problem. Before she knew it she had done everything for him, and didn't even notice. She arrived outside his room and knocked, not even thinking about how this might put her bet in jeopardy with her sister. But Taylor was so cute, she didn't even mind losing. Their bet to not hook up with anyone had been going on way too long. If anything it would be a public service. She also didn't know if Taylor was even interested in her like that. It was just a shot in the dark, and a pretty face she could stare at.

Taylor wasn't dumb, he fully believed work smarter not harder and that's what he did. It came easy to him and it came in the form of Rosemary. She was one of the smartest if not the smartest girl he knew and she fell for his charm. They never did anything not for his lack of trying. It made it easier for him to get his way though and all the work she did for him proved it. Checking his phone he pulled on his grey sweatpants and kept his shirt off showing his well defined abs. Opening the door he flashed his pearly whites. "Well hello beautiful." he moved to the side to let her in. Biting his bottom lip as she passed. "I hope I didn't take you away from anything important. It was this final paper that i need a little help on." he brushed past her purposely and blushed when he stepped away." Oh shit I'm sorry baby. I mean Rose." he ran his fingers through his hair. "You always he get me so flustered." he lied.

Rosemary squealed inside her head when he opened the door and he wasn't wearing a shirt. That plus gray sweatpants? She was already dying on the inside. It had been since before Valentines when she had made this stupid bet, then this beautiful helpless boy came into her life. She hadn't been doing anything too important, just working on her own papers. Sure, they were just in the editing phase, but she also didn't really need to step away from the computer to do more work. But he needed her help, and she was excited about it. She loved feeling needed. Rosemary let a giggle fall from her lips when he brushed past her and was all flustered. It gave her butterflies to have someone who was nervous to be around her. It made her feel like the prettiest girl in the world again, "no need to apologize" she said as she touched his exposed arm briefly. Usually she was all go getting, but something about him was so sweet and sensitive.

He knew exactly what he was doing with the clothes and the words he was saying. He didn't need help he had someone write his paper he just needed it to be proof read and his closing paragraph to be excellent. He wanted to have fun this summer without any summer school. He watched as her hand brushed his arm he looked down at it then back at her. "You gave me goosebumps. " he pointed to arm. He moved to the his bed and sat down. "I wrote it I just need help with the final paragraph, it's not coming together." he sighed dramatically. "And if i'm being completely honest ." he paused his face going red. He knew she would think this was cute or whatever it was always that easy. "I." he looked away." No I shouldn't ruin over our friendship over it." he looked down with a defeated look. Counting to ten before looking up with a half smile. "You look amazing by the way." Taylor touched her chin softly .

Taylor was the hottest shy guy she had ever encountered. The problem with some of the guys she had hooked up with in the last year is that they knew they were hot. And damn did they act like it. He was being vulnerable with her, asking for help. When he said she gave him goosebumps it gave her an excuse to stare at his form, god he was so good looking. She was getting nervous as he seemed to be gaining mild confidence. "Thank you, you um, you always look really good" Rose became a little more aware of her bet, so she sat down at his laptop and put on her blue light glasses. She started going through and making edits, it was a good paper. It just needed some touch ups. Rose got to the final paragraph and helped him summate, "This is a really great paper, you should be proud of it" she said as she looked over her shoulder at him.

Taylor had every confidence that he was a very attractive young man. He was also confident that Rose found in just as attractive. He blushed looking away at her comment. " You don't have to be nice to me, but thank you love. " He moved next to her. He watched her as she read the paper. He knew the paper was good it was based of a draft he had written and given to someone. He didn't bother her instead he went to the mini fridge and got her a bottle of water. "That means alot coming from you Rose." He handed he resumed his place looking over her shoulder. "You have no idea how much you saved me. You have to let me thank you. " he flashed her a bright smile. He wasn't going to just blow her off, leading her on would pay off in the long run.

It had been a minute since she'd been weak in the knees for anyone who was nice. Such a sweet boy, sweet on her. None of the usual red flags. Rosemary deserved to be with someone who was going to treat her well, especially if she was about to break this bet. But she hungered to break the bet. A nice guy was worth it. She turned her head and looked up at him as she took off her blue light glasses and he flashed a smile, "How would you like to thank me?" she said with a coy smile. Rosemary bit her lip a little as she looked at him, god she had it bad.

He read over the last paragraph happy that at the whole paper coming together. He knew his grade for this paper was going to be amazing. Looking at her as she spoke. He couldn't help but lick his full lips, any other time his response would be something less then wholesome. He wasn't going to say that he would just move the strand out of her face. "You should let me take you out on a date. Or we can have a little picnic here if you don't feel like being social."

Rose liked the idea of something private with him. It was so refreshing that he didn't just want her for sex. Like he actually cared about her and wanted to get to know her. It had been such a long time since that had happened for her, "I would love to have a little picnic here" she said, not wanting anything to be too public. Maybe there would be more of an opportunity to be cute together if they weren't restrained by the public eye. "I just feel like being social with you" she added sweetly.

A wide smiled flash across his face when she said yes, to her it show he was excited about spending time with her for him it was securing that she still helped him when he needed. "perfect." he whispered in her ear. " Just tell me what you want to eat and if I should put a shirt on. " he said being half serious. "My rose." he said with the most endearing tone he could muster. He made sure to clear his schedule for her. If it was one thing that he knew it was that girls love when you made them feel like they were the one and only.

She shined a bright smile at him. "We could just order some food, watch something" she suggested. Rosemary wanted to keep things casual and easy, for his sake more than anything. He seemed slightly nervous around her and she wanted to make sure he was in a space where he was comfortable. She hadn't talked to anyone this sensitive in a long time, it gave her that high school innocence vibe. His rose? Her heart fluttered at the idea of being with someone.

Tay nodded. " Your wish is my command." He moved to the mini fridge and pulled some menus from off the top of it. He chose to order Italian she deserved it fir all the help she had been. Making the call he fixed his bed so.sje could sit on it. " What are you into?" He asked in a semi seductive tone. " True crime? Horror? We can watch whatever."

She felt her heart rate pick up when he asked what she was into. Rose made her way to his bed and took her shoes off, adjusting her hair and looking over at him. "Ummmm, horror sounds good to me. I might get a little scared though" she warned. Rose wasn't too afraid, but she was jumpy when it came to things like that.

Taylor dimmed the lights and put on a scary movie." Don't worry i'm here." his voice was less innocent and more like him. He moved next to her, leaning against the wall. "You can come closer, I promise to behave myself." He winked at her showing that it could definitely turn into something else. He grabbed his blanket as the movie started. He knew the food would be there soon so he didn't get to comfortable.

Rose noted that he seemed to be growing more confident. Her impact, honestly. She felt like he was stepping up because of her. Like she was worth it. Rosemary got under the blanket with him and touched his hand before putting her head on his shoulder. "You don't have to behave ... if you don't want to" she said as she looked up at him through her lashes. He hadn't even told her she was beautiful, but she felt that he knew. That he liked her but didn't have the words just yet. Taylor was probably a hopeless romantic, and couldn't spill the words until it was time.

Her words confirmed she had no idea what type of boy he was. He let himself blush as if he was shy. He turned to her, his fingers on her chin leading it his face. His lips softly touching hers, pulling back just a little before kissing her again. This time deeper and with more passion. Only moving when he heard a knock at the door." Shit." He murmured. " Don't move gorgeous our food is here." He hopped up and moved to the door. He pulled out the money and picked up the food putting it on the table. "Now where were we?" He smiled jumping in front of her and kissed her again.

Oh my god, they were kissing. She hadn't felt like this in so long. Usually it was a one and done with most girls and guys, both being super upfront about how they wanted something casual. But he was different. He wouldn't hurt her, god, he couldn't hurt her. Normally, she would be suspicious of someone who was such a good kisser when they played to seem so inexperienced, but Rose wouldn't be surprised if he's had at least one serious girlfriend in the past. What if he's damaged? She could fix him. Show him how to love. Her brain was going wild for the idea. Rose couldn't care less about the food, "I think right here" said Rosemary as she kissed him back, matching his enthusiasm.

Taylor chuckled into the kiss as he moved over her. This was easier than he had expected but who was he if he didn't get exactly what she waned. His hand caressing her thigh, his tongue exploring her mouth. He kissed her for awhile before breaking it." God your beautiful." She was he could admit that."Are you sure this okay?" he sounded innocent but his hand never left her leg and his eyes was filled with lust. He needed consent before he went any further it and he needed to blush when he said it. He really didn't think this would be happening but he was glad he made time for her, and what was happenin now was definitely a bonus,

This was definitely not Rose's first rodeo. She had a revolving door of guys since the break up that had fully broken her. Rose couldn't even say his name these days. Being cheated on by your first love changes how you see love. Hearing him call her beautiful made her feel perfect again. Like she hadn't broken herself time and time again. Then the simple fact that he was asking was so sexy to her, like he was worth all of it. Like he could pick up the pieces of her and make her hole once more. Not sex to fill the void, but love and care and all those beautiful things. She could be one of those beautiful things again. The way that beautiful boy blushed when he asked was more than enough for her to know that he was worth it. Rose flipped him over and got on top of him, "I am more than okay with this, I've been thinking about you a lot lately" she said with a smile as she pressed her lips to his neck.

Taylor wasn't surprised that she wanted to do this with him, he was a rather handsome guy and he didn't do to bad in the female category. Taylor was surprised that she had been thinkin about him lately, he didn't get the vibe from her. He had a clue she might have a little crush on him, it fed is ego to know she thought of him. He laid on his back his hand moving up her legs, his sweatpants being a very bad shield of hiding how much he wanted her. He let his hands wander up her back and slip up under hier shirt. A low grunt left his lips as her lips continued to kiss on his heated skin. "Take off your shirt." he said in a low tone, his voice made it more of a commad than a ask. Losing the good boy act for a quick second. "Please." he softened his voice for her.

He was a little more assertive than she gave him credit for, but the quick follow up with a please let her know he was who she thought. -Fade to black-. Rose laid down next to him on the bed, out of breath. "Wow, that was not what I was expecting at all" she said, catching her breathing down to a normal rate as she came down from everything. Rose wondered if she should have made him wait, but she had heard a podcast recently that waiting really meant nothing. If someone wanted to date you, they wanted to date you. If they didn't ... well it wasn't worth it to think about that when he was a sweet boy. He wouldn't have slept with her if he didn't want more with her. She wouldn't let her guard down like that for just anybody.

Taylor sat up in his bed when they were finished. She was a lot more flexible than he had predicted. "Oh yeah and what did you think was going to happen?" he hopped up and went to get her warm rag and wipe herself off. If he ever thought she was prude he was very wrong, in fact next time he needed someone to fill his bed she would be the one in five people he would text, but first he needed her out of his room. She had served her purpose and given him a little extra. Usually he would just tell her to leave but he needed a few times to be able to get away with that." Listen beautiful, I have to go to work." Lie. "I wish I could sped the whole night with you." another lie. " But I got to go, it pays for my lifestyles." he bent over to her and kissed her on her lips.

Rosemary blushed a little, "oh I don't know, usually a little more awkward with a new partner" she said being honest. He had been great, almost a little too great. But he was probably just trying hard because she was Rose, she was special. She got cleaned up and was a little sad to hear that he had to go. He hadn't said anything about work when she got here, but perhaps a lot of time had passed. "We should do this again sometime, maybe a redo on that date" said the girl as she got herself dressed and grabbed her bag. Her funk was finally over, and he was the cute. Oh Taylor. Emilie Autumn anon here. Haha, yeah, I know her music’s not for everyone. If you only liked Castle Down and weren’t too keen on Liar, then it’s likely you won’t enjoy her Opheliac or Fight Like a Girl eras, FLaG characterized by harsher sounds compared to her Opheliac era, though ironically the lyrics are focused on recovery and not as rage-filled as in her Opheliac era (her Opheliac era can be triggering for survivors of sexual assault, btw, as she is explicit about her own experience and suffering and doesn’t mince words when she calls rapists out, Liar is from this era). However, you might like stuff from her Enchant era, when she was pop baroque-ish and indie and sang about fairies and knights and Shakespeare characters. Maybe you’d enjoy songs like:

Chambermaid: That moment when she sings “Tell me what I have to do to make you understand it’s a lost cause, lover” / “Hold me close when you were thinking of her” / “I don’t want to hear you say you love me” / “You’ve been gone such a long time won’t you tell where” / “Before I have to see this face I once adored” KILLS me with strordo feels. And it fits what you did with Misery Loves Company. Less a character’s thoughts and more like a dialogue between Mordo and Stephen. I also love the potential drama found in Stephen and Mordo fucking during Stephen’s time in KT, with Mordo knowing that Christine means something to Stephen yet not knowing exactly what, and thinking that Stephen is not attracted to him and just using him as a port in a storm while thinking of Christine. But Stephen’s just thinking of Mordo, probably in an incoherent inner monologue that’s pretty much Why is the world’s most beautiful man taking my dick??? *gives self a mental high-five*

How Strange: Or as I like to call it, Emilie Autumn’s first and last foray into the uncharted lands of R&B lol

Juliet: A song about *drum roll* Romeo and Juliet. She manages to make it sweet yet at the same there’s an undercurrent of “oh shit something’s about to happen” because... you know. Spoilers for all five people that don’t know but Romeo and Juliet die at the end. I love it mostly for the violin solo at the end. Emilie is quite the accomplished violinist and when she throws those violin solos it’s fucking awesome.

Let the Record Show: You won’t enjoy this one, probably lol But for anyone interested in both Emilie and those songs I was going to use for that Karl Mordo Can’t Stop Falling for Problematic Men mix, this is one of them. It’s prime post-DS Mordo. “If I’m going down then I’m going down good” / “If I’m going down then I’m going down clean” / “If I’m going down then I’m going” / “The prettiest wretched whore you’ll ever see”

Opheliac: Same as above lol this song is the one that gives the name to an era. Mad Girl: Back to songs you might enjoy! lol This one is from the Opheliac era, actually, back when Emilie was obsessed with tragic women from fiction (mostly Shakespeare and Brit Lit) like Ophelia. For an Opheliac era song, its instrumentation is different and softly melancholic. Quick confession, this song always makes me cry. This one is also one of the songs for the aforementioned fanmix, because I will die before I stop referring to Karl Mordo as the classic-tragic-maiden-but-as-a-gay-man character that he is. “In all your fairytales, how did the prince say he loved you?” / “How did your father die?” / “Was he a good man?” / “My melancholy state, folly, fear, and hate, I know” / “My friend in this world is a bottle of nothing” / “Still I try, still I fall”

Rose Red: Another from Enchant. As you can tell, it’s vaguely related to Rose Red the fairytale. “Tell me no stories and I’ll tell you no lies” / “No one wants to hurt me but everybody tries” / “For this freedom I have given all I had” / “For this darkness I gave my light” / “For this wisdom I have lost my innocence” / “Take my petals and cover me with night”

Heya Nonny!

Oh wowowow! I’m listening to the song recommendations again right now. You hit the nail on the head with the songs I’d like more. I ended up listening to the Enchant album twice while the Opheliac album was very hard to get through, more so because of the subject matter though. It’s very raw and there’s a lot of pain and anger there. I don’t know much about the artist but I hope she’s recovering and is doing well now. Rape is a brutal experience and for her to share the emotions and thoughts she went through is extremely powerful and heartbreaking.

I actually really enjoyed “Shalott” and the acoustic version of “Mad Girl.” Her voice is super emotive and lively, raw with emotions. I can see why people can hear stordo, and more specifically Mordo in the songs.

“Juliet” has a gorgeous violin number at the start and throughout and it makes me think of Mordo playing the violin in his family castle, just thinking of the romances he used to read and how life is more tragic than romantic. T____T

“Chambermaid” really does give off the vibe that Christine’s still in the background of Mordo’s mind when he’s with Stephen. I also really enjoyed the fortune telling and card reading motifs of the song. It really needs to the magic aspect of strordo, as well as the ‘fated to meet’ aspect of their pairing.

“Rose Red” and “Rapunzel” give me youthful Mordo vibes. When he’s still hopefully and longing for the love found hia fairytales.

And okay.....I really, really fucking liked “How Strange.” Especially this part...
