Any ideas of how Jake and Amy will celebrate Valentines Day?

i thought about this a lot instead of editing my diss…my priorities

💌 they definitely made each other cards & amy’s was a lot more professional than jake’s and they’ll be both picking glitter out of their cereal for the next six months -but he basically wrote her a 2 page essay about how much he loves her in smudgy sprawling handwriting  & makes little references to milestones in their relationship, even things like the time jake’s heating got cut off in the middle of winter and amy drove round with her huge very expensive indoor heater and electric blanket without question…and that was before they were even dating… 💕💞💕💞

amy’s card is beautifully sentimental in its own way…there’s a part where she just laments about how caring jake is towards everyone he loves and how his heart is never kept in a cage, he leads with it in everything he does and basically just that her husband is the best person she knows…jake attempts a nonchalant ‘cool cool cool’ in a broken voice that quakes and lasts about two seconds before he’s got amy in his arms 💘💘💘💘💘

🥰 jake attempts to make heart-shaped pancakes (having endured a 3 hour seminar from Charles) and catastrophically fails but amy just kisses the batter from his face and they go to the little breakfast place they went to the first few times jake stayed over at amy’s and instead of driving to work they walk together hand in hand

neither of them really fancy being separated even if it’s just by a floor or two in the bullpen on valentine’s day so they start making excuses even though nobody is listening or cares to sneak onto each other’s floors…it escalates into a competition of who can come up with the stupidest excuse without getting questioned 

💋 amy gets out the red lipstick…bc any excuse… 👀jake spends the entirety of their shift with his eyes flickering between her mouth and his monitor & thinking about what she’s hinted is underneath that sergeant’s uniform and whether it’s the same intoxicating shade of red (he finds out later it is)

they definitely end up in the evidence lock-up at some point and everyone knows what they’re doing in there but nobody cares enough/is willing to walk in to intervene…Charles ends up holding gary back once he realises the possibility of conception occurring at that very moment

it doesn’t because amy is Professional and also they learned their lesson via security footage

💍 gifts wise this year tasers are OUT meaningful slush is IN. amy gets jake a gift voucher for a day at a trampoline park complete with a foam pit and he immediately makes her promise to go with him on their next joint day off

🌸 jake gets amy a luxury personalised stationery set and maybe it’s engraved with ‘amy santiago-peralta’ because although she keeps ‘santiago’ at work which he fully respects she legally changed her name after their wedding and uses the full double-barrel for everything else and both of them still falter a bit hearing it because! they’re married!

then maybe amy gets jake a tiny ninja-turtles onesie for their future little one which definitely makes him tear up and jake gets amy a mini twin photo slip that she will absolutely use for a picture of her husband and said future little one 💐🌷

and they both get a weeny bit choked up thinking about the family they’re going to have and don’t care if it’s premature to be buying stuff already 🍼

🥂 they go back to bouche manger for the first time since the date and the night ends in exactly the same way, tipsy on cheap-ish wine and each-other, but also most likely unfurled in each other’s arms in their bed, jake slightly propped against the headboard and amy’s head on his chest with her hand tracing lopsided hearts on his skin because he’s warm

jake’s just there utterly content like ‘babe, this could be our last valentine’s day just you and me’ a little awestruck and amy squeezes his hand and leans to kiss his chin-dimple because she’s loved every valentine’s they’ve spent together but this one is tangibly different because they’ve agreed to start trying 💗💖💗💖💗💖

there’s a lot of ‘I love yous’ which is certainly not novel for them but each one is punctuated with the knowledge that any time in the next few months their love might have made a baby (their baby!)

the next day jake asks holt if he and kevin had a nice valentine’s day and holt gets the closest thing to a misty eye possible for him and says kevin surprised him in the middle of his terribly boring shift and they went to see the biggest stamp collection in brooklyn which is a supreme romantic gesture…obviously….and jake’s just viscerally happy because his dads are very weird but so in love and him, well…he’s going to have a baby with the love of his life !!  ❤️❤️❤️
