Annoying.
He’d forgotten how annoying mortals could be, how tedious even the simplest transactions were.
Sometimes, he forgets he was mortal once too.
Tearing off another piece of bread, he pops it into his mouth, watching the stall owner continue to argue with the customer ahead of him in line. All Daiyu wanted was something good to eat— mortal food was always best, after all. Maybe he could just swipe it and leave the two idiots to continue bickering like hens.

@feietouhuo ♥’d
“You’re terrible at disguises, you know that, right?” he murmurs around a mouthful of apple. Not that Daiyu really has any room to talk— his shock of golden blond hair among a sea of brown and black sticks out like a sore thumb. Then again, he often doesn’t bother to conceal himself too much. As of the moment, he’s still in the Middle Heavens, not yet ascended in his own right.
He has a smidge more freedom to frolic as he wishes— or he believes he does, at least. Chewing and swallowing, he takes another bite. “You could at least try, you know.”

@dreams-of-fate ‘ sir, I think it is too late. ’ (shuo kai @ daiyu hONK HONK)
Making an almost wounded face, Daiyu turned his back on Shuo Kai, arms crossing over his chest. “I told you we should have left earlier. Now look. Everything’s all packed up.” He should’ve left Shuo Kai at the inn and gone ahead on his own. Next time he’ll know to do just that. Let the rock continue to sleep like one!
“I’ll see you back at the inn.”

@weidizi said, “ don’t say i didn’t warn ya. ” // for daiyu
“How difficult can dealing with one old goat be?”
Sure, he’s heard that Lan Qiren is a stickler for the rules, but surely he wasn’t as annoying as Sect Leader Yao. That old bastard ran his mouth far too much and too often for Daiyu’s already short temper; usually it was only to either kiss up or gossip about some other insignificant Sect Leader that Daiyu couldn’t give two fucks about.
“And if it doesn’t work out, it doesn’t work out. Auntie doesn’t like him anyway, so it’s no big loss. But sure, I’ll try to be on my best behavior and not tell him how much his food sucks.”

@dreams-of-fate said, ❛ you love me & you know it . ❜ (Shuo Kai @ Daiyu)
“You wish,” he huffs, popping another candy into his mouth and rolling his eyes. He doesn’t love anyone who comes ‘round to him empty handed. Whether they come to visit or come for a favor, they should at least bring food of some sort. Everyone knows that he’s not picky.
But he mulls it over, head tilted. “Maybe if you bring me egg cakes I’ll change my mind.”

@jiangswanyin said, ❛ it’s absolutely hush - hush for now . ❜ ( daiyu )
“She’ll find out, you know, and then it’ll be on you.”
Daiyu isn’t taking the blame for this— nope. If it’s between Yanmei’s wrath and Jiang Cheng, he’s absolutely going to throw Jiang Cheng under the horse and let that wrath rain down on the newly crowned sect leader. Daiyu’s got enough on his hands as is— his wound is worse than he’s let on, and navigating a gaggle of baby disciples to Meishan hasn’t been the easiest task.
“She’s out there.... somewhere. She’ll find out about Wen Xu and his idiot head eventually.” He doesn’t want to be around when she does.

@aeipathic said, ❛ i can deal my own disasters . ❜ JC & YDY
Barking out a quiet, humorless laugh, Daiyu levels his cousin with a skeptical look. “You call this dealing with your own disasters?”
Sure, Daiyu might’ve been running around the countryside with a pack of frightened kids trotting behind him like ducklings, but at least he wasn’t throwing himself headlong into the front lines and searching out every Wen post possible looking for trouble.
“Look. If he’s out there, then he’ll come back when things have calmed down. Who knows, maybe he’s injured so he’s laying low. You’re a Sect Leader now. Stop being stupid.”

@saccharot said: i am anything but interested in you. / daiyu
Of course his first instinct is to blow up— to either glare and lash out or to pout and lower his eyes. He does neither. Aren’t those the sorts of reactions that Xue Yang is trying to pull from him? Daiyu has fallen for this trap a dozen times. This time, he’s finally wised up a little. Finally.
“That’s too bad. I guess I’ll have to eat all these candies myself then, huh?”
Just as an added little dig, he pulls a wrapped treat out of the paper bag he holds and unwraps it, popping it into his mouth.
