Did you know that even if are too busy to travel or not in Korea you can still visit the Baekje Historical Areas museum? I couldn’t choose my favorite photo from Gongju but these two have to be at the top of the list 🥰 The view & the sky over the Gongsanseong Fortress is just perfect even on gloomy days 🌥 Now I wish I could go there again to see it when it’s sunny! The fortress was a focal point of the Baekje kingdom back when Gongju - then known as Ungjin (475~538) - was the capital, giving the fortress the name Ungjinseong. It is approximately 2,660m long and made up primarily of a stone wall, out of which most was rebuilt after the Joseon Dynasty. Last year I took you on a trip around the historical areas from the Baekje Kingdom @baekje_historic_areas which was one of the three main kingdoms in Korea between years 18 and 660 A.D. It’s been a while since I got to go on a trip and I definitely miss my little escapes from Seoul 🥲 Last year I got to visit several of the Baekje historical areas but still so many to go… There are three main areas - Buyeo, Iksan and Gongju, which were each the capital of the kingdom at one point during its time. This year I was able to learn much more about these stunning historic areas and I hope you did too :) if you haven’t heard of Baekje check out my previous posts introducing this ancient Korean kingdom For the last stop should we look at some museums? ✨Art Museum Ancient Tombs In Buyeo Royal Tombs - I have visited the Royal Tombs in Buyeo this summer (check out my YouTube video if you haven’t seen it yet - link is in my bio :) and this little but very interesting art museum is located in one of the tombs. It was truly innovative full of 360-degree cinema images, holograms, VR and AR exhibits showing off ancient art! ✨Tomb of King Muryeong and Royal Tombs Exhibition Hall - probably my favorite exhibit of the tour, this museum also located underground not only shows various relics excavated from the tomb but allows you to walk into the tomb itself! This Halloween evening let me take you to a trip to more than 1500 years ago when these two beautiful pagodas were constructed in the Baekje Kingdom 📜 🌟 First is the Jeongnimsa five-story Stone Pagoda in Buyeo - Korea National Treasure No. 9 it is today only 8.3m high but due to its perfect proportions it is still very stable! You can meet it in the Jeongnimsa Temple site and even learn more about its special building process -> check the link in my bio for a full YouTube video tour of this site 🥰 🌟 Next is the Mireuksa Temple Site Stone Pagoda - this stunning piece is the oldest and largest stone pagoda in East Asia! The 11th National Treasure Stone Pagoda you can meet the original along with a perfect replica at the Mireuksa Temple Site in Iksan. Who else enjoys learning about old relics? I’ve always been fascinated by those items we see in museums and how similar and yet so different they are from what we have today… and especially how much advanced technology and skill went into creating stunning masterpieces ❤️ During my tour around Baekje Historic Areas I had the chance to see many of such artifacts and so I wanted to show you some of the most famous ones today: ⭐️ Foot Rests & Earrings & Gold Ornaments - thousands of these beautiful creations were found in the tomb of King Muryeong in Gongju (picture 1) ⭐️ Baekje gilt-bronze Incense Burner - this stunning burner is one of the representative artifacts of Baekje. The first stop in the Baekje Historic Area Tour? For me it would have to be the Royal Tombs in Songsan-ri that I gave a sneak peak of in my last post These tombs, located near Gongju south of Seoul by the Daejeon city area are also known as the Tomb of King Muryeong The first excavation on the side happened back in 1927 but the Tomb of King Muryeong itself was accidentally discovered only in 1971 during water drainage work on the tombs Just looking at the photos it seems like this place is all I can dream of - a bit of mister, plenty of rich history to learn about and stunning nature all over the tomb area Who’s coming with me? 백제역사유적지구 투어의 첫 번째 장소는 🇰🇷?? 지난포스팅에서 말씀드렸던 송산리고분군입니다. 송산리고분군은 충남 공주시 금성동 송산리에 있는 웅진시대의 백제왕실의 능묘군이며 백제 왕릉 혹은 무령왕릉이란 이름으로 알려져도 있습니다. 송산리고분군에 대한 고고학적 조사는 1927년에 이루었는데 1971년에 고분군의 배수로를 정비하는 과정에서 우연히 무령왕릉이 발견되어, 고고학적 조사도 이루어졌습니다👏 너무 예쁘고 자연이 너무 아름다워 보여서 완벽한 당일치기 여행 장소인 것 같아요 ☺ #백제세계유산센터 #백제역사유적지구 #백제역사유적지구외국인기자단 #백제 #백제역사 #한국 #한국역사 (무령왕릉 송산리고분군에서) https://www.instagram.com/p/CQdsDzzhKuv/?utm_medium=tumblr

Just look at this beauty 😍 Where is this stunning place?
