i do plan to get to eventually. im a huge atla stan and im ngl im very wary about this show because from clips and discussions ive seen on twitter/tiktok its not looking...great. it seems there's a lot of sacrificing of character establishing moments in place of info dumping exposition. which somebody on tiktok pointed out that its weird that there's a lack of this considering that the amount of time netflix atla season 1 has is longer than the og series season 1 by 20 minutes.

also (spoiler) the fact that aang flies in this bothers tf out of me. im not trying to be a nitpicker and don't want this show to be a shot for shot 1 to 1 remake of the animated series but this is like, crucial lore/aspects of the avatarverse mythology that gets fucked up and in turn will fuck up heavily important plot points in future episodes. for those that don't know, in the avatarverse, airbenders do have the ability to fly but it is an extremely rare feat as in order to do so a person has to let go of all their earthly tethers ('nother spoiler: zaheer in tlok being the only airbender in show being able to do so after p'li is killed; her being the only person he loved and his only 'tether'). aang being torn between being The Avatar™ and living a normal life and being able to love and form attachments ON TOP of being the last of his people is like the biggest of aang's struggles/internal turmoil; love is probably the most important thing to aang as a person. he cares deeply and it doesn't make sense for him to ever do something like that for the sake of skill, especially in the first goddamn season.
