In “Cognitive diversity and team creativity: Effects of team intrinsic motivation and transformational leadership” by Wang et al., they discuss a few things that interested me (2016). One of their hypotheses (number three) said that team intrinsic motivation mediates the positive relationship between cognitive diversity and team creativity (Wang et al., 2016). They hypothesized this due to intrinsic motivation theory (which is about situational factors exerting influence on creativity via intrinsic motivation) along with Amabile’s componential theory of creativity. I found this interesting because at the end, they found that their results led support to Amabile’s theory of creativity (Wang et al., 2016). This led them to understand that intrinsic motivation is the major mechanism through with contextual factors influence creativity. I thought this interesting because as I was watching the videos from this week, I wondered what influenced creativity in teams and organizational settings. Now knowing that intrinsic motivation has something to do with it, it makes more sense to me.
In Salas et al., there were nine critical considerations for teamwork that they discussed. These include cooperation, conflict, coordination, communication, coaching, cognition, composition, context, and culture (Salas et al., 2015). The one I was interested in the most was culture, which is described as the driving force for member values, norms, and behavior (Salas et al., 2015). Culture influences the way people view themselves in relation to the team. I was wondering if having a high level of cultural diversity would be beneficial to a team, and according to the article, it is and isn’t. It can bring about higher levels of creativity and satisfaction. However, at the same time, it can be a source of conflict. Personally, I think having cultural diversity in any setting is important so that people can bring in different opinions from their sets of values and norms. I know that as someone whose culture is primarily not American but is from Eastern Europe, many of my values differ from my friend’s and coworkers’, and it brings about interesting discussions and brainstorming for ideas, along with the fact it fosters creativity. I am aware of the downsides of cultural heterogeneity, but I still believe that it is a positive thing.

📌 Amalan Pintu Kebaikan
عَنْ مُعَاذٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ سَأُنَبِّئُكَ بِأَبْوَابٍ مِنْ الْخَيْرِ الصَّوْمُ جُنَّةٌ وَالصَّدَقَةُ تُطْفِئُ الْخَطِيئَةَ كَمَا يُطْفِئُ الْمَاءُ النَّارَ وَقِيَامُ الْعَبْدِ مِنْ اللَّيْلِ
Daripada Muaz bin Jabal RA bahawa Nabi SAW bersabda ; " Aku akan memberitahu kepadamu pintu - pintu kebaikan iaitu ; puasa adalah perisai , sedekah meleburkan dosa seperti air memadamkan api , dan seorang hamba bangun ( qiamullail ) di malam hari .
( Musnad Ahmad No : 21628 ) .

Pengajaran :
1 . Nabi SAW menyampaikan pesanan tentang pintu - pintu kebaikan kepada umatnya iaitu Ibadat puasa , sedekah dan qiamullail .
2 . Pintu kebaikan pertama ialah Ibadat puasa . Puasa menjadi benteng atau perisai kepada seseorang daripada melakukan perkara - perkara yang dilarang oleh Allah . Puasa adalah perisai yang akan melindungi daripada kehancuran jiwa , kerosakan perjalanan hidup , melindungi diri daripada terjerumus ke dalam golongan manusia yang tidak memiliki sifat sabar .
3 . Puasa juga menjadi perisai memberikan keteguhan hati dalam bertakwa kepada Allah . Puasa adalah perisai seseorang dari api neraka . Sabda Rasulullah SAW :
إِنَّمَا الصِّيَامُ جُنَّةٌ يَسْتَجِنُّ بِهَا الْعَبْدُ مِنَ النَّارِ
Puasa adalah perisai yang dapat melindungi seorang hamba dari siksa neraka "
( HR Ahmad No : 3868 dalam sahih al - Jami’ ) .
4 . Persiapkanlah diri dengan mula berpuasa sunat pada bulan Syaaban ini . Moga akan memudahkan kita melaksanakannya pada bulan Ramadan yang menjelang tiba . Semoga ibadat puasa menjadi perisai buat kita dari api neraka .
5 . Pintu kebaikan kedua ialah bersedekah . Sedekah meleburkan dosa seperti air memadamkan api . Kita dianjurkan bersedekah khususnya kepada mereka yang memerlukan seperti derma kepada mereka yang terkesan akibat musibah banjir , gempa bumi dan lain - lain .
6 . Ambillah kesempatan untuk menyumbang dan menderma . Semoga sumbangan kita menjadi pelebur dosa dan penghindar kita dari api neraka . Sabda Nabi SAW :
اِتَّقُوا النَّارَوَلَوبِشِقِّ تَمْرَةٍ
Hindarilah neraka meskipun dengan sebelah biji kurma .
(Sahih Bukhari No: 5677)

7 . Pintu kebaikan ketiga adalah menghidupkan malam dengan Qiamullail . Antaranya dengan melaksanakan solat sunat malam , memperbanyakkan zikir dan munajat kepada Allah . Semoga amalan ini mampu membina kekuatan rohani kita .
Marilah kita melaksanakan amal - amal yang menjadi antara pintu kebaikan iaitu membanyakkan puasa sunat , bersedekah dan qiamullail .

Internship ePortfolio - Entry 3
Becoming an effective team member and contributor: how did you utilise the support of your supervisor/co-workers to help build your confidence and become more efficient as an intern (this may include feedback, training or other support/opportunities).
To begin my internship experience, I would say I was rather timid and was not confident in asking for help and therefore looked in to doing a lot of the more straightforward tasks that perhaps I wouldn’t require much help with. However, as I went along, I became a lot more comfortable and confident, not only in myself, but also with the people I was working with and my supervisors.
I really enjoyed getting feedback, whether that was a very small piece or not. It definitely helped majorly and went a long way to me meeting briefs and expectations. Not only did I receive constructive feedback when I could have perhaps done things differently, but I also received plenty of positive feedback which played a major role in the increase of my confidence during my tenure at Squash & Racquetball Victoria. It was good to know when you were doing things correctly, the way they wanted it and to a standard in which they approved of.
I worked rather closely with fellow intern, Adi, in the opening 100 hours of the internship experience. We created and posted some content together and worked through some other tasks. Adi lead some of the social programs at MSAC that was hosted by Squash & Racquetball Victoria and I generated some content for those programs.
Personally, I thought we bounced ideas off each other very well and were able to come up with designs that both Karl and Prayansh were satisfied with. Having that sort of approval of a fellow intern meant that my confidence was built when sending through designs to Karl or Prayansh, as I knew that someone else was satisfied with my work.
Microsoft Teams was the main point of contact for us at Squash & Racquetball Victoria. It was a new application to me as I hadn’t used it up to that point. I found my feet quite easily within Teams and it wasn’t long until I found out just how accessible and how quickly my supervisor(s) responded. The quick replies made it a lot easier to complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner. This in turn, made it easier to be an effective intern and contributor to the team.
The more I was able to cooperate with my supervisor(s) the easier it got to build on that lack of confidence that I had begun the experience with. It made it a lot easier for me to ask questions and find out exactly what they wanted for each task so that I wouldn’t have to redo it if it didn’t achieve standards. On reflection, this was quite a major part of personal development in building confidence.
“Teams are pervasive in today's world, and rightfully so as we need them” (Salas et al., 2014). The nature of working in teams in working environments nowadays is so crucial and therefore workers of any experience are required to fit into the mold in order for the entire team to work well together.
