RATING EVERY BEYBLADE DRAGON

IT'S APPRECIATE A DRAGON DAY AND OF COURSE, I AM ALWAYS APPRECIATING DRAGONS BUT TODAY I'M GONNA DO IT EVEN MORE! and well. beyblade sure does have many dragons! so i looked through em all (or atleast, as many as i have good pics of) and i am going to rate All Of Them. i'm also gonna be rating these out of 5 stars because i'm really bad at rating things out of 10

unfortunately, because i cannot find any high quality pictures of many bit chip-exclusive designs, some of them will not be mentioned. trust me i wish i had pics of em all

dragoon/seiryu: the azure dragon, the absolute og. i mean not THE original but i don't have any good images of ultimate dragoon or whatever it's called's bit chip. 5/5 it's fucking seiryu

cyber dragoon: i've literally been insane about the digital sacred beasts plotline for MONTHS now. not quiiiite five stars but almost.

dark dragoon: i only ever got halfway through the movie i'm gonna be real. nothing Bad about this one but if i want a seiryu recolor i'd definitely go for cyber dragoon instead, 3 stars

gaia dragoon/koryu: this is probably the closest bsb has to an average western dragon, not too much of note although the colors.. do not look very threatening to be honest. 3 stars, gets one taken off because i swear i had a render of it and i'm genuinely pretty bummed i couldn't find it

dark gaia dragoon: as i said before i never finished the movie so i have no idea how this thing is in that. looks sick as fuck in the concept art though, 5/5 stars

amphilyon/amphisbaena: yeah so for some fucking reason this is the only sacred beast besides the main 5 to have a name other than that of its corresponding bey. not sure what's up with that but honestly this thing looked way cooler when we saw it in season 1 than it is in full color. 3 and a half stars, i'd put it at 2 and a half but giancarlo is neat

DRAGOON VARIANT LIGHTNING ROUND

ice: it sure is dragoon and it sure is ice. not much of note here, 3 stars master: i'm not fond of any of the master variants but this is probably the second best one behind master draciel. 1 and a half stars spark: if the fact that i went and drew it once didn't tip you off i think this one goes fucking hard. 5 stars, wish we saw it in the anime death: i don't have anything to say other than yeah that's sick. 8/10 rock: it barely resembles seiryu but it DOES remind me of dire miralis from monster hunter so that's a plus, 3 stars metal: is it me or do the metal variants look slightly fucked up. i'm gonna be real i kind of wish these designs were used for the digital sacred beasts though ig that defeats the point of those being copies. anyway gonna give this one 3 and a half stars knight: this thing looks so generic it's insane i would see this in a set of fantasy-themed stock art. zero stars it's not even fucking blue kids: weird little freak. 2.5 stars

that completes bakuten shoot, leading into metal fight. i know almost none of these and if i missed any, it's because i'm mainly going off the ones listed in @mach-speed-spin's post on dragon beyblades.

L-drago: like the ONLY cool creature design i saw in mfb before i dropped it. 4/5 i don't care if it's evil i think it's Neat

orochi: this is just a skylander you can't trick me. it would make a damn good one though, 2.5 stars

leviathan: yeah this one goes pretty hard. 4 stars

i'm gonna be real mfb didn't have a lot in the first place but i hit the image limit so dragooon (three Os) and behemoth aren't here sorry to any fans of those

finally is burst, which i keep hearing has too many dragons, and to that i say fuck you there's no such thing as too many dragons. for the record because of how many variations some of these have across the seasons i'm only gonna be rating their original designs.

wyvern: that's a wyvern alright! 4/5

quetzalcoatl: i wasn't sure whether to count this one as a dragon but wikipedia says quetzalcoatl is a dragon so i'll take their word on this. 2 out of 5, it's fine i guess.

longinus: banger design but i would punt lui without hesitation given the opportunity. goes from a 5/5 to a 3/5 because of that.

fafnir: almost a pretty solid dragon design but idk man the beak is really throwing me off here. 2.5 stars.

bahamut: oh this is ABSOLUTELY a banger, and associated with a character who deserved more screentime. 5/5

kukulcan: another one that's apparently a dragon according to wikipedia. kurt's actual character is neat but his design made me go "wait this guy looks kinda like ghasem" and his avatar made me go "wait this looks kinda like quetzalcoatl". 2.5 stars

salamander: the only dragon introduced in cho-z and honestly i don't even have anything to say here just look at it. that thing's fucking awesome, 5 and a half stars

dragon: that's a dragon babe! 5/5

diabolos: this thing looks like it wouldn't be out of place in a hot sauce ad. decent design but the pattern on it's front kinda throws me off, solid 3 stars

genesis: I'VE HEARD THIS THING IS A DRAGON ENOUGH THAT I GUESS IT GOES HERE BUT LOOKING AT IT I'M NOT SO SURE ABOUT THAT. THAT'S A FUCKED UP MAN. 1.5 stars, i don't know yugioh much but this thing looks like it would probably be pretty at home there

apocalypse: it doesn't really feel like what i'd expect an apocalypse dragon to look like which holds it back, but i do prefer it over genesis. 3.5 stars

My Cabinet of Curiosities episode ranking

Ok, I know I couldn't be later to the damn party but I gotta do this. Spoiler alert. Also you can critique me or add something but be chill m'kay?

8. Lot 36

I felt like it was giving me nothing. I knew what was gonna happen to the guy(it was justified but boring). The monster design was interesting but that's about it

7. Graveyard Rats

No, I'm not going by the og ep order if you're wondering. I felt like this is Lot 36's twin. The protagonist is a bad person and is pushed further into his misdeeds by crippling amounts of debt, he does something incredibly fucking dumb and then gets killed off. The slight difference here is that it's unclear if the protagonist would be as shitty as he is without the debt. Honestly, I only put it higher than Lot 36 because of the aesthetic.

6. Dreams in the Witch House

I'm not gonna lie, I wish I had something to say but I don't. I just felt kinda confused after the episode. I probably would have put it at 8 if I've read the original story and seen how they failed it. But I haven't, so I didn't have any expectations either. And because of that it was slightly more interesting for me. Umm, idk, show the gif?

5. The Viewing

Oh I am mad mad that this got rated higher than The Outside. Don't get me wrong, aesthetically it's really on a whole other level. The music, colors, dialogues. But it led to right about... nothing? Maybe I'm missing something but there seems to be not much to the message and the monster at the end is really basic for all the hype that was built up. And while I did put this at 5, know that I was disappointed as fuck.

4. Pickman's model

Now, as much as I love the ship I also read the original story after watching this episode. I can see why so many people were disappointed. The point was to show the horror of discovering that the monsters you could only dream of are real not those monsters coming for your family, which is pretty basic imo. I feel like more thought should've been put in the drawings because so much focus was on them. Some of them were good, but the witch painting was meh, and half the episode was dedicated to it. The dynamic between Thurber and Pickman hard-carried tho and the horror is less underwhelming than The Viewing.

3. The Murmuring

Can't talk shit about it because this was the episode that scared me the most. I liked the emotional aspect to the story. Husband was bugging me out, but idk if that's because of my biases or not, he seemed like a fine charachter. Wished they utilized the birds more tho. Also someone pointed out that this is really similar to Babadook(the main actress is also the same person lmao) and as someone who watched a lot of reviews of Babadook(so many to the point I was confused if I watched the movie or not) I see the resemblance.

2. The Outside

While the commentary on beauty standards and social conformity is nothing new I still love it. I completely understand where the character was coming from. I loved the main couple more than I did in The Murmuring. And in the end our main girl doesn't get some out of the blue karmic punishment. I wasn't really scared, but I was starting to be a bit unsettled by her when her transformation started.

1. The Autopsy

I can't complain, I was fully entertained, a bit scared, I loved the villain and I could empathize with the main hero like I could in The Outside. The autopsy parts itself are pretty unsettling, and pretty sad if you know that the human whose body the alien occupied is still there and is feeling all the pain. The villain was imo playful which made it fun for me(however, you might as well keep your mouth shut if you know that you revealing stuff like this can get your race clapped). And the ending is satisfying, especially because it took a sacrifice on the main hero's part

my brain has literally been all over the place with wips i'm not even gonna lie. i released 2 other wip intros for some more wips: lukewarm rejection and my giant fantasy wip the chronicles of lathsbury (which has its own sideblog lmao).

(and also in general a giant explanation for all of my wips that don't have intros yet. its just mini summaries but don't feel pressured to read ALL of it bc i have a lot of wips & its a whole lot lmao)

but in terms of actual things my brain is currently occupied with i'd say its been mainly train master chidori and god eater (with a side of lukewarm rejection bc my boys,,,)

some trivia about the blorbos:

CHIDORI (mc of train master chidori)

i've had some variation of chidori's character since i was about 10. i used to pretend to be her (bc she was a girl at the time--she was kind of like a self insert tbh) when i played on the merry-go-round at the playground and had a helluva good time lol. it's only been recently that i finally settled on an iteration that i liked, and unsurprisingly bc he started out as a self insert for me, it kind of makes sense that he ended up trans masc like myself

anyway tho he's a big dork who loves trains

i'm still trying to get the actual Plot of his story together but this is a post that kind of explains whats going on in a bare bones kind of way

DI & TOPH (mcs of lukewarm rejection)

these are ocs that i created with my ex back in hs and i got them in the divorce pFF

they were originally apart of a convoluted fantasy story (that people like /kudzu and /henrike and /scribbles will probably remember) HOWEVER this year i finally decided that i just wasn't happy with the story and how it was working and dispersed the ocs to be in other projects. a good chunk of them ended up in LR but like,,, most importantly to ME di and toph lmao.

toph has always been in a band. the reason i made him a demon is bc his original powers that were caused by Trauma i wanted to keep bc i really liked the idea of him being able to use chains to decapitate people. i just couldn't really separate it from his character, so by making him a demon i was able to keep that bit in.

random trivia: di is a vegetarian. bc its something that can't be removed from his og design. and instead of having a horse, he has 3 cats: bael, vivi, and faelwyn (who hes had since she was a kitten). he also has shit eyesight and he doesn't like/is scared of fish PFFF

toph gained a plethora more tattoos and piercings than the og design that he had. his favorite color is green bc its lucky. his favorite activities are sleeping and singing.

GOD EATER... is a mess

i actually finished writing everything out that i have so far for this wip and its another wip where i kind of don't know where to begin in terms of explaining it. however the 4 main characters really are:

nevaeh (this name is on purpose), a they/them who has been tasked to save the world very much against their will.

their guardian and guide little bear (he prefers that to his "actual" name ursa minor LMAO).

thei, the god eater himself (and a huge laidback, soft, crybaby when he's not literally causing the eradication of gods)

and his caretaker taj (a rouge legna *or angel* who decided to service his god's killer instead of finding another god).

the four of them are a lot of fun and despite this wip being kinda heavy its also gonna be a lighthearted mess :) i'm excited to uh. figure out how to explain it LMAO.

1129 Birthday Jun

Since we've been on a roll with the other figs in this series, let's keep going! Here we have Junjun on his Happy Birthday cake.

If you've been following my posts, you already know my extreme weakness for figs on desserts, so this was a must have.

All these figs in this series were before my time, so I've had to buy them all off of Xianyu. The other 3 are commonly sold together, as well as individually, but there's never a lot of these birthday cakes for sale for whatever reason. Maybe it was a smaller run or more expensive, or both. I imagine it would have been a more expensive fig because of all of the detail.

You can see he arrived extremely tightly wedged in the polystyrene, and his crown in particular is stuck right up there. I've had this happen a few times with figs, and always makes me worry that they'll sustain some damage being pushed into the foam like that. So far no breakage though, so either I've been lucky or the resin is tougher than I give it credit for!

I do cut these out rather than than risk pulling them out. I take a box opener and cut down a line from the bottom of the fig to break the box open. That loosens up the area a lot and I can gently ease them out. I had to be particularly careful of this one because those candles are so delicate, and I couldn't have a clumsy finger snap one off.

Here he is! It all arrived perfectly after all - crown, candles, candies and all.

This is the first birthday cake that was done in this style by this maker. It's one piece - he's not removable from the base like the other Happy Birthday Junjun dessert cakes of this style (Cream Mousse and Chocolate Mousse). I don't mind at all that this one is one piece - it's more secure and I don't have to worry about attaching it myself.

The candles also look like they might be removable, but they are not. I'm guessing when they manufactured the fig, they cast the cake with holes and inserted / glued the candles in by hand. I've seen progress videos of factories making figs, it's kind of incredible all the hand work that goes into the assembly. I'll have to ask a fig maker if they'll let me port over a video or two so I can show you all.

Based on the number of candles, this is 6-year old Gong Jun! We'll say each candle counts for 5 years to get to his current age.

I really like these design of all of these cakes she's done. This is one is delightful with the little candies trailing all the way around.

And his little party hat! Super cute. The soft pastels of this whole fig with the pops of yellow make it colorful yet sweet at the same time.

And we're back around! He's just adorable.

This is a nice view of his birthday bouquet and how beautiful it is with the details of his flowers and the pleating on the paper wrapper. We also get a nice angle of his happy laughing eyes and mouth!

And one last shot from the back from the top. This fig is too cute not to get all the angles!

Here's the OG birthday cake with the 30th birthday Cream Mousse cake. You can see the original Junjun figure himself is a bit smaller in order to maintain the overall size of the complete fig itself. I love them both!

I bet you're getting very used to seeing the pic of this box! It really was the same box art for all these figs. I'd be remiss if I didn't have my usual dramatics about the image on the box of the Pokéball Jun fig that I'm still woefully missing (and still completely unable to find the slightest hint of on Xianyu).

Anyway, as you can tell by the list of figs on that box, this is the last one in this series until I am able to track down (and catch!) the elusive Pokéball Jun.

Road to Cream 64 v1 Part 6-4: We Are the EggJams

As if it wasn't obvious but keeping here for consistency.

Bowser in the Dark World: Sonic Adventure 2 - Crush 'Em All (Weapons Bed)

BitDW is also one of those stages that keeps on getting a brand new track with each update, I think literally this time around. But the general theme I wanted was something industrial so any Eggman track from SA2 could've worked here. I know I used a track from Shadow's game in the latest build but it still has similar vibes.

Bowser in the Fire Sea: Sonic 3D Blast - Volcano Valley Act 1 (Saturn)

I feel I got a bit lucky with this one, having just done a saturn playthrough around the time of working on v1. Plus it's rarely that I get to use anything from this game's soundtrack, especially the Saturn version.

A big ol' climb up this weird lava platforming section with orchestral music happenin'. Seems pretty fitting. If I had to swap it, I guess it would be for the second act.

Bowser in the Sky: Sonic Mania - Steel Cortex (Titanic Monarch Act 2)

This is the final climb, just you and your skills. Can't fly through it just yet so you're at the mercy of this game's level design. All while this track is playing does give me the heebee jeebees. There was thoughts of using Act 1 (and I still kind of considered it for v4) but Act 2 just feels more final, which it should be.

Plus it paired up nicely with the actual final boss theme of the hack. A nice one-two punch for the final Eggman fight. I don't regret changing it to the current track that's used in the latest build but sometimes I wish I could give an option to swap songs for those who wanna experience it.

Bowser 1: Sonic Adventure - Theme of Eggman

Your first encounter with Eggy and his Egg Koopa, might as well use the classic theme. Yes, you could argue that his SA2 theme is more iconic, but I enjoy the instrumentation of the SA1 theme better in this case.

Bowser 2: Sonic Heroes - Egg Emperor

Surrounded by lava, a platform as wobbly as your moveset, and the hard guitar riffs echoing throughout the fight, yeah boi it's the Egg Emperor theme!

I haven't used alot of tracks for Sonic Heroes so another case of wanting to even out my track selection. I think even then, I still would've used it cause it works great as a "he's not messing around!" kind of track.

Eggman 3: Sonic Mania - Ruby Illusions

The rainbow colors are in effect, the stage is ready to crumble at your feet, you're one final fight away from saving your mom, are you ready? God, I love this track so much and the mood it sets. Tee Lopes, you son of a bitch, why you so good?

It's been one of those tracks I've left since the beginning but I've had ideas on changing it for another track, but right now it's still uncertain. It's just too good! One of those I need to eventually put in-game first to get an idea before swapping it.

Ending: Sonic Advance 3 - Ending A Credits: Sonic Advance 3 - Staff Roll

I'm actually pretty proud of the first one. The opening melody is still the same as OG SM64 but when Vanilla appears, it transitions to the Ending A midi. Did have a bit of trouble select which instruments to use and the sudden change in timing messing up when the songs in -game but I'm really happy with the final result.

SAd3's ending was something I couldn't pass up. Aside from it being linked back to Cream (if you got the best ending), it's a really nice sendoff to the Advance series in general and felt just as appropriate here. I actually had to edit the original version to fit the SM64 credits and once I had to swap tracks for midis to save space, this ended up being one of them.

There was only one midi I found of this that sounded good and it never finished properly, just looped. So I had to actually manually adjust it myself to make sure it ends just like the song. After that was done, then just a matter of aligning instruments and honestly, god I dunno how I managed to pull it off but I can't seem to even go back and edit it again. Dedication to the project.

There's probably a few tracks I forgot here and there but I will probably get to them in later parts since I do make some more changes down the line. But I hope this four part madness was a fun little ride.

Next Part should be the end of v1, just getting into the last bits before publishing and eventually talking about the SM64 PC Port and that whole mess.

FEH — Legendary Micaiah was just announced and...!

...I couldn't be happier with her fated debut, it was a sweet surprise (a happy ending for my birthday as trailers are released exactly at midnight here in Uruguay), but anyway, I'll share my early thoughts on her but for further insight, I would like to invite you to read my upcoming written review once it's out...

Without further ado, let the talk begin!

To those that know about me and/or remember my little appreciation post on Micaiah, you can understand why I'm so excited about her fated alt, but if you haven't read it, I just linked it for you.

Anyway... as you saw in the picture above, Legendary Micaiah was indeed, announced via official channels, you can see the trailer right here:

And the art is really gorgeous and adorable at the same time, like, let's just take a look at it:

And now, let's take a look at the Fire Emblem Cipher art by Kita Senri from which the attire comes, there's a total of two pieces with it and both drawn by the same artist:

HACCAN just nailed it yet again with their astounding and clean art styling that gets quite close to the original and adds dynamic through attack/special poses (this is another set in which they're actually different) and her damaged art portrays her iron will to keep fighting and protect those she cares for and her people, similarly to how Julia behaves and is symbolized in her damaged art on her Legendary variant, both of them are too precious.

And Veronica Taylor's voice on Micaiah is like music to my ears, it's quite relaxing, can't wait to hear the rest of her work in this time after the data mine!

Next up, I'll talk a little about her base kit and what can be expected of her:

The only thing I find most irrelevant on her kit is that C-skill, it's good yeah, but it only gives [Distant Guard 3] to both user and allies if near each other without change to said skill's effects or boosts granted (just adding the user as part of the targets), and I.S. recently gave us [Joint Drive Def], but I still don't understand their decision here, I mean, it does have synergy with [Prescience] but she already has the whole damage reduction thingamajig, making of [Joint Dist. Guard] both a fickle and nearly useless skill other than for scoring and slightly aiding Legendary Micaiah's niche as a ranged unit counter that'll hardly get herself into disadvantage, I think [Joint Drive Atk] or whatever that boosts her attack power is better overall.

She's also getting easier guaranteed follow-up strikes and the usual dual effectiveness, which is... nice I guess, but fortunately, she's not a super broken unit, and she's going to be a great help, specially if you lack a colorless tome or any good enough alt of hers like her OG form with refine.

For stats, I have no doubt her attack and resistance will likely be min-maxed, followed by a mid-to-low speed and physical bulk, she's also a pair-up Legendary Hero making of her a tad more versatile to use.

But her slightly improved mix of [Sacrifice] and [Harsh Command+] and [Fury 4] are there to help her making it onto the [Desperation 2] effect imbued on her weapon and help her teammates, if you have a {brazen} [Sacred Seal] that targets attack, it's among the best options for her, as well as [Glimmer] to help her deal more damage and escalate quickly through her high magic attack power and particularly effective classes against her.

Overall, she's an awesome unit with a few new elements at her disposal to make her feel at least slightly different and offer players another colorless tome user.

Next up... banner plans:

I have 146 [Orbs] as of this post, not a great amount but for Micaiah I'd happily take the risk, and that's what I'll be doing.

Colorless is packed with great fodder and sometimes similarly dangerous units too, Fallen Edelgard remains a powerhouse and Ashera is handy to have in [AR-D] while keeping [Panic] status ailments in control... looking at red: Legendary Lilina is still a good and easily movable {area-of-effect} damage dealer, plus she's sharing with two strong units both carrying rare and valuable/useful skills.

The other colors don't have much of interest but a Naga merge would be very welcome, still, I'll wait for her rerun, which is likely going to be more worthwhile for me.
