Perhaps God knew that there was beauty in turning something sinister into something sacred. This year, Walkway's theme is Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing the broken pieces with gold. I take the theme as a reflection of where I am and how I am and where God is especially after all the things that had happened so far this year. God, being the gold that repairs my broken pieces, shines through in this year's theme. While I have always been emotional everytime I attend this event, this has got to be when I cried the most. Station 8 felt like Jesus speaking in front of me. It's like Him saying, "Let me carry the weight of your cross". It said: "This is the temptation: to think we can handle everything. We live in a society that glorifies self-reliance, that puts a crown on those who bear the weight of the world. Just do it. You'll get over it. You can handle it. But what if we can't? What if our strength finally falters? What if the burden of life simply becomes too great to bear? We are, after all, finite beings." I broke down despite being looked at and hugged my brother. Little things to be thankful for
One week at a time.
(08Jan) Thankful for the safe welcoming of the year. I had time to visit the province and be with someone that makes me happy.
(14Jan) - All the sorrow and pain but I will not fall. I will stand and keep my smile - keep myself sane. Although I fail - I will not give up. Even others give up on me, I will brush it off and still be my best for no one takes notes but the Lord. I will still keep going and praise the Lord Almighty for all blessings he has given me. This is just one small piece of pain. This is not yet the end.
(15Jan) Thankful for pain - makes me feel alive though hurting, still I know I’m able to give love despite lack of assurance. Thank you for another set of mornings to be filled with blessings. A huge thank you in advance for giving me wisdom and courage for the next choices and decisions I will have to make. I will keep on going, moving forward according to your will my Lord.
(22Jan) Thankful for numbered days. For continued life. I am already healed by You Lord. Though I feel pained and tired, I know you will never leave my side. [Thank you, Lord, for the way you guide me in prayer. Help me to come to you in thanksgiving before I do anything else. Let gratitude be the foundation of my prayer life. I make the decision today to put aside complaining, being thankful in prayer instead.
(29Jan) Thankful for giving me strength all week and the coming next. For providing me all I need to survive. Thank you Lord. I praise you with all I am.
(31Jan) Disregard all unwanted thoughts and negative feelings. Focus on the good, the light, the bright and the awesome things the Lord has created for us.

(13Feb) Thankful for forgiveness - teach me Your ways to forgive so that my burdened heart will not be as heavy as it is right now.

(19Feb) Thank You Lord for re-softening my iced-stoned heart again. I may be stubborn but I love being moved by your grace.
(24Feb) Thankful for the way You bless us, and how we can share it in small amounts to people who needs help.
(25Feb) Thank You Lord that even if I do not eat food nor bread, I can survive with just water and of course You.
(26Feb) Thank You Lord for giving me strength to finally wake up.

(02Apr) How long has it been? Three weeks? I missed church for three weeks. I’ve been lazy for three weeks. I’ve been worrying about a lot of things these past three weeks. Of course, first on my list is the queen B. I felt attacked - this is the first word that came out of my mind. It seemed that you weren’t feeling me. I’m feeling so down and depressed from you subtly moving and creeping away. AND I CAN’T. I just can’t. Because I thought the Lord already brought you to me as someone I can love, as someone I can be with, as someone I can be normal with. I thought that magical serendipity was the sign. But I guess my imperfections made you back off.
(03Apr) It was said that one cannot give away something they have not yet tasted but then I always give to people what I have not yet experienced but always wanted to.
(09Apr) Thankful for seminars! This is my first time trying to go in one. Thankful for new people, I hope I can be a normal person and make friends with them. [but lol no I don’t want to be normal, I liek me weird]

At church last Sunday we talked a bit about how the Jews after escaping from Egypt, en route to the promised land, eventually got too tired and started grumbling about their long journey to a point that they began glorifying their past. "Wouldn't it be better for us to go back to Egypt?" they said.
A part of me thinks this parallels the desire of *some* Filipinos to have Martial Law / dictatorship back.
They (or at least their fathers) freed themselves from tyranny, but walking out of it, they lose sight of the price that is the beauty of freedom, they grumble and they glorify the past, making it seem like being enslaved is such a good thing. Slavery disguised as order, rather than slowly but surely climbing up to reach the promised land.
