What do u think of building 5???

I like some more than others, but I overall 💖 Building 5! Building 5 is Himbo Central! Minus Qi, Upa, and Houzuki, I already talked about how I feel about each member of Building 5. So I’ll keep it brief and just rank them all from least favorite to most favorite. I won’t include the characters who were locked away in the underground cell, so no Enki (rip 😭) , Ruka, or Hachiman.

9. Upa - The main reason Upa is so low on my list is because I can’t stand the “arrogant little kid” archetype that he is. He’s so rude to nearly everyone around him.

8. Kokoriki - Just like Upa, Koko is rude, but only nice to people ranked higher than him.

7. Youriki - Easily the most underrated Daisen brother. He’s only a step higher than Koko because he seems a bit more soft spoken.

6. Liang - Good looking, but I don’t like his toxic masculinity and the way he and Upa treat Qi

5. Houzuki - I think the best way I can describe him is Building 5’s Seitarou. He’s overall a kind character and I want to see more of him.

4. Rokuriki - The most likable of the Daisen brothers. Chapter 81.5 is one of my favorites, simply because of the interaction between Rokuriki and Samon. It was just too cute!

3/2. Qi/Inori - I’m ranking Qi and Inori together, because they’re both great underrated characters. Qi gets so much shit from Liang and Upa, yet never retaliates, which makes me feel sorry for him. Inori is lazy and perverted like Qi, but he’s a loyal boi and owns up to his shit, which is why he’s so high on this list.

1. Samon - Not going to explain myself again, but I just overall love Samon! He’s a bit of a brash and loud dummy, but he’s too damn likable to place them any lower.

A Costume Demon Feast

"Yu Yu Hakusho 100% Maji Battle" Halloween Event

This Halloween event was first held on October 15th, 2020. A Halloween party organized by Kurama took place at Yusuke's house in the Human World (check the event "A Grumpy Halloween"). Now Enki, inspired by the Human World's events, attempts to host a Halloween banquet in the Demon World. Many famous youkai like Enki, Koko, Chuu, Rinku, Toya, Jin, Suzuki, Shishiwakamaru, Mukuro and Kirin attend the party. Will Hiei also join this big feast?

Story: A Halloween party hosted by Enki is held in the Demon World. The youkai are all excited, since it is the first time they attempt such event. Hiei, who is not interested in the party, challenges Mukuro to a combat, as usual. However, she tells him she can think about his proposal if he joins the feast...

[At The Demon World]

Enki: Phew, this is gonna be fun.

Koko: What the hell is that grin on your face?

Enki: Well, now, I'm going to broadcast the news to the whole Demon World...

Enki: I thought of adopting the events of the Human World into the Demon World.

Koko: Human World events, huh?

Enki: That's right!

Enki: I'm sure this will be the most exciting thing since the Tournament.

[Enki spreads the big news...]

Chuu:

Hey, hey, Rinku, did you hear that?

Rinku: Chuu! Are you talking about the Halloween party, by any chance?

Chuu:

Yeeeess!

Rinku: Looks like it's going to be very exciting somehow!

Chuu: Halloween has been a hot topic in the Demon World for quite a while! Seems there'll be good sake to drink!

Rinku:

I'm sure everyone will join it!

Chuu: ...-san is ... is Natsume-san coming?

Rinku:

What? Chuu, did you say anything?

Chuu: Oh, no! Nothing...

Youkai A:

Hey, did you hear about the Halloween party?

Youkai B: Seems it will be a flashy event hosted by Enki.

Hiei: ...Humph, that's foolish. The Demon World has become quite complacent about peace.

T/N: The japanese expression "heiwaboke" (平和ボケ) means being so accustomed to a state of peace that one is unable to feel a sense of crisis. Hiei is criticizing the youkai for getting used and complacent to this transient state of peace created by Enki, to the point of becoming unaware of actual dangers.

Hiei: What's that guy Enki thinking?

Hiei: I don't care if the Demon World tries to imitate the Human World.

*Hiei moves in fast motion*

[At Mukuro's place]

Hiei: Hey, Mukuro.

Mukuro: What now, you wretch?

Hiei: ........

Hiei: Fight with me right now. I'm getting out of shape from all this back-and-forth between the Demon World and the Human World.

T/N: At the end of the series, Enki became the king of the Demon World for the 3 years, and those who lost the Tournament had to work patrolling the Makai. Hiei was put up to the task of escorting humans who have accidentally wandered into the Demon World back to the Human World, erasing their memories with his jagan.

Mukuro:

Hiei, as you can see, I don't have too much time on my hands.

Hiei: Humph, I can see you have extra time on your hands dressed like that.

Mukuro: Now, don't take things so seriously. Tonight's the Halloween party.

Mukuro: Why don't you also just enjoy the grand feast, and this thing called costume?

Mukuro: I know you're not satisfied with just going back and forth between the Demon and the Human Worlds.

Hiei:

...You bastard talk too much.

Mukuro: Don't worry, I am not going alone. As of now, it is planned that Kirin will be also accompanying me.

Mukuro:

Jin: Whoa! The youkai are amazing!

T/N: Jin originally speaks with a Tohoku accent. In the English dub, they voiced him with a strong Irish accent. So, you can imagine him talking and using words from any dialect of a specific region of your country.

Toya: Haven't seen so many youkai gathered like this since the tournament, right?

Beautiful Suzuki: The attitude of embracing the culture of the Human World ... How beautiful it is!

Suzuki:

Hey, Shishiwaka? I thought you weren't coming?

Shishiwakamaru: Humph, I refused to come. And yet...

Chuu: Heey, you! Come on, when I invited you, you replied you'd be right over!

Shishiwakamaru: No! I'm sure it was you bastard who dragged me here against my will!

Rinku:

Now, now, it's fine! It's been a while since we got together!

Jin: Say, Touya, shouldn't we dress up for a Halloween party?

Jin: I should have arranged something too.

Toya: Hmm, I don't understand the events of the Human World. At times like this, if only Urameshi were here…

Jin:

Oh! Yusuke seems to know a lot! I want to meet him again!

Rinku: Hmm? Aah...

Chuu: What's wrong, Rinku?

Rinku: Could that be...

Mukuro: I see, this feast is on a much grander scale than I had imagined.

Youkai A: Mu, it's Mukuro! It's the first time I've seen her since the Tournament…

Youkai B: I know the Demon World has changed, but I end up getting kinda nervous...

Mukuro: I know, keep an eye on that guy.

T/N: thay guy = the youkai C

Kirin: Yes.

Enki: Ehh, everyone. Thank you all for gathering here today.

Enki: Tonight's party is a new attempt to adopt events of the Human World.

Youkai C: Tch ... The Demon World has changed a lot after the Tournament!

Youkai C: I don't like Enki and those laws he proposed either, but I don't get why Mukuro showed up careless!

Youkai C: My goal was to beat Mukuro in the Tournament…

T/N: I wonder if youkai C was one of those random names in the Makai Tournament bracket. They probably were all S-class demons.

Youkai C: Damnnn … Damn you! FUUUUCK!

Kirin: Haahh! Mukuro-sama!

[Youkai C tries to attack Mukuro, but...]

Mukuro: .....

Mukuro: Hmph, I figured you'd come.

Hiei: …Shut up.

Youkai C: Who the hell are you!?

Hiei: Huh!

(Hiei punches youkai C)

Youkai C: Aghhhh!

Hiei: You bastard are targeted by such small fry for joining a party showing that namby-pamby mug of yours.

Mukuro: Look who's talking, you can't say anything dressed like that.

Kirin: *Gulp*... Hiei's combat speed has been increasing...

Kirin: This man, has he improved his skills again?

Hiei: I think that guy was playing a trick on you because you didn't give him any candy or whatever.

Mukuro:

Hiei, where did you learn that?

Hiei: I don't know.

T/N: He probably learned in the Human World with Yusuke and the others, in the event "A Grumpy Halloween". Kurama was probably the one who arranged this costume for him lol.

Jin: Oh! That guy's gotten stronger again, right?

Toya: Just as one would expect of the man who fought Mukuro.

Chuu: I wanna try fighting him someday! Hahahahahaha!

Rinku: Chuu, you've drunk too much!

Mukuro: Hiei, you don't like candies, do you?

Mukuro: In that case, how about our match? Of course, that's impossible to fight here, but…

Mukuro: I can think about it when we get back.

Hiei: …Hmpf, a match instead of candies?

Hiei: HAPPY HALLOWEEN, I guess that's how people say.

In the manga, Hiei wishes "Happy Birthday" to Mukuro. Here, it's "Happy Halloween". He's been learning a lot from the Human World.

Summer Night Feast

"Yu Yu Hakusho 100% Maji Battle" Summer Event

This summer event was first held from July 13th to July 31st, 2020. It shows Mukuro, Yomi and Raizen enjoying a summer festival before war broke out between the countries. It's great to see Raizen having fun with Enki, Koko and his other friends.

Story: The three great youkai of the Demon World: Raizen, Mukuro, and Yomi. Before the rift between their countries intensified, the tension was not as great as it is now … And, a summer festival was held in the Demon World...

Introduction

Raizen, Mukuro, Yomi…

The three major forces who represent the Demon World. No one seems to know their names.

The present Demon World has been in conflict for 500 years due to a standoff between those three.

However, before the rift between their countries intensified, it was hard to say that things were peaceful at all.

But, it seems it was not as tense as it is now.

That was when the summer festival was held in the Demon World.

What kind of expressions did the 3 most powerful youkai of the Demon World show back then?

Part 1 – Mukuro [The Devil enjoying the cool evening]

*blah blah* (background chatter)

Mukuro: Hmm … they're really charged up!

Mukuro: All the youkai have a spineless look on their faces, and are making a fuss.

Youkai A: Aah? What the hell, you're bumping into me!

Youkai B: You too! What the fuck?!

*punch*! *snap*!

Youkai C: Go, go, go! Kill'em!

Mukuro: ........

Mukuro: Even if they look spineless, the Demon World is still the Demon World…

Mukuro: But, maybe this very disorder is what makes the Demon World what it is.

Mukuro: No outrageous problems have occurred. On the other hand, it doesn't mean that the Demon World has lost its essence.

Mukuro: It would be best to maintain the status quo.

Mukuro: But, it appears that's not going to happen...

Mukuro's aide: Hey, hasn't Mukuro-sama returned yet?

Kirin: Beats me. If we are told to wait here, we don't have much choice but to obey.

Mukuro's aide: I don't know what she's thinking at all. If something happens, I am not sure if we can help.

Kirin: ...Indeed, it will be troublesome if Mukuro-sama's face becomes known in a place like this.

Kirin: What the heck, what is she doing over there...?

Mukuro: Eventually, there will be all-out war in the Demon World.

Mukuro: Now that I've been at odds with Yomi and Raizen, a clash is probably inevitable.

Kirin: Mukuro-sama!

Kirin: Someone is approaching, ma'am. Please, get away from there as soon as possible.

Mukuro: ...*Sigh*. I was watching the youkai, and now this…

Kirin: Mukuro-sama, run away quickly, please! We will handle it from here…!

Mukuro: The Demon World is good because it's chaotic. That's my opinion, and I should reaffirm it.

Mukuro: I'm ready for all-out war!

Mukuro: I will never let the Demon World change...!

Part 2 – Yomi [The Wise Emperor enjoying the cool evening]

Yomi: Hmm...

Yomi: Even though the festival is crawling with youkai, I don't see anyone here.

Yomi: It may be an unexpectedly out-of-the-way spot.

Youda: However, Yomi-sama ... I'm afraid it's only a matter of time.

Youda: According to the information I overheard, it seems that fireworks will be launched very soon.

Youda: If so, many youkai will likely wander this way as well.

Youda: Therefore, I don't think it's safe to stay here too long.

Yomi: Yes, I know.

Yomi: But just for a minute, I have things to do. I'll return shortly, would you leave me alone?

Youda: ...*Sigh*

Yomi: .......

(Flashback)

Yomi: I used to be selfish and sly.

Yomi: I was only gazing at my own navel, and I sacrificed numerous friends...

Yomi: ...Fireworks?

Yomi: Huh, isn't this good scenery suitable for a night of resolutions?

Yomi: This may be the last time I can walk alone like this.

Yomi: Let's burn this moment into the mind just a little more…

Part 3 – Raizen [Toushin enjoying the cool evening]

T/N: Raizen's title of Toushin means "god of war".

*boom*! *boom*!

Koko: TA-MA-YA!!

T/N: "Tamaya" and "Kagiya" are words shouted when a firework explodes in the sky. They were the names of famous Edo-era fireworks shops, and shouting them is a way of praising the fireworks.

Koko: Hey, what is it?! Is this all that's left?!

Koko: I haven't had enough to drink yet!

Enki: Hey, that's enough already…

Koko: Shut up, geezer!

(Koko punches Enki)

Enki: Ouch!

Souketsu: Oi! You, metal guy!

T/N: During his fight with Shuu in the Makai Tournament, Souketsu teases his metal appearance. In turn, Shuu also makes fun of Souketsu’s hat and mentions they don’t have a real fight for more than 1,000 years. It's great to see Raizen's friends together, years before the cold war with Yomi and Mukuro.

Kujou: Not yet! Gahahahahahahaha!

Enki: Oh shit, good grief … They're all completely drunk…

Enki: Hey, Raizen? Why did you become quiet all of a sudden?

Raizen: Hmm, I don't know how many hours we've been fighting. This is what people call taking a break, huh.

Enki: Haha, I feel the same way.

Raizen: ........

Enki: ...Hey, what is it? You've suddenly got quiet since some time ago.

Raizen: ...Err, it's not a big deal.

Raizen: But...

Enki: But?

Raizen: It just occurred to me some time ago, I don't know how long I can keep doing this.

Raizen: You know that, right?

Enki: ...I see. I feel exactly the same way.

Raizen: Right?

Raizen: Even fun festivals must come to an end someday. I was thinking about such petty thing all by myself.

Enki: It's not petty.

Enki: You only realize the most important things, after losing them.

Raizen: Humph ... You're kinda stinking today.

Enki: Hahaha, maybe it's because of the booze.

(Koko punches Enki)

Enki: Ouch!

Koko: What are two guys getting so excited about!? Come on, there's no time to rest!

Koko: Raizen! I haven't beaten you yet!

Souketsu: Hey! Include us in the fight too!!

Raizen: Humph, they're all a bunch of cheerful guys!

Enki: Yeah … We don't even have time to watch the fireworks at ease.

Enki: Alright, you guys! Today's the festival!

Enki: Let's have a great night!

Everyone: YEAHHHHHHH!

Mukuro and Yomi are so serious! At Raizen's side, everyone is drunk (lol). Probably, after this night, Raizen met the "kuda kusushi" woman and decided to stop eating human meat. This event is prior to Hokushin's time. I'd love to see an official one-shot or OVA about the 3 kings.

[At the Demon World]

Enki: Sorry I called you out of the blue! I didn't think you'd come.

Yusuke: I regret it, you're exploiting me, man. You wanna adopt Human World events in the Demon World?

Yusuke: Did you call me because you're having trouble coming up with ideas?

Enki: No, I've already got an idea.

Yusuke: Huh?

*step* *step* *step* (sound of heavy footfall)

Yusuke: ...Ptooey!

Koko: .......

Yusuke: Hahahahahahaha!

Yusuke: That's not how it is supposed to be, oi! Have you gone out your mind!?

Enki: Hey, come on, don't say such things! That's how Valentine's Day works in the Human World, right?

Yusuke: I, I can't stop laughing! Where did you get that information?!

Yusuke: Seriously, man, it's too unexpected!

Enki: Oh noooooo, I'm so sorry. I just misunderstood Valentine's Day…

Enki: But, it really looked good on you, huh?

Koko: .........

Enki: I asked and wanted you to wear it because I thought it would look good on you.

Koko: ...I'd never have worn this kind of clothes if you hadn't told me!

Koko: Oh my, whatever...

Enki: No, let's reconsider. There's still time.

Koko: If you say so, but I'm ... okay with this...

Yusuke: Damn it. What the heck?

Yusuke: I wasn't called here just to watch you guys talk about your lovey-dovey relationship!

Enki: No, you were not! I really want your opinion on the idea.

Yusuke: Yeah, yeah, enough of that lovey-dovey talk.

Enki: Hahaha, I'm stumped. Anyhow, we've got to come up with solid plan.

Koko: We need to think of something as amusing as the Human World!

Enki: Alright, then I'll do my best for Valentine's Day!

Enki/Koko: Right!

That was just a short story. But, since we don't get to see Koko and Enki so much, I thought it would be worth translating it. I love Koko's dress and shoes. I don't know from whom or what kind of information Enki got about Valentine's Day, but I'd dress those clothes lol. It looks like a german folk costume.

Yu Yu Hakusho 100% Maji Battle 4th Anniversary

The Maji Battle game is celebrating its 4th anniversary on August 28th, 2022 (Sun)! I loved the commemorative illustration with the quartet. They have also released some cool icons on the official twitter, including Keiko!

The game's art is so faithful to the anime, and the side stories specially written and designed for it, respect Togashi's original ideas so much that it feels like I'm reading/watching the official work. I hope this game will become global one day, so fans all over the world can enjoy it.

In the meantime, I've been translating some of the Yu Yu Hakusho stories. Here follow the list so far, which will be constantly updated in the future:
