What would you do if your best friend started dating your mother? Viaplay's new original series 'Call Me Dad' is now filming
Tumblr media
New Viaplay Original is an awkward affair that goes straight to the heart. 'Kald mig far' is a comedy series starring Alex Høgh Andersen, Magnus Haugaard and Ellen Hillingsø. The series is produced by Nordisk Film Series for Viaplay. 'Kald mig far' is expected to premiere in 2023.
Imagine a really good friendship. The kind where you've known each other your whole lives. You do everything together, and you're just about to launch a sustainable catering company that makes you business partners on top of it. Everything is just as it should be. Now imagine your friend hooking up with your mom. What would you do?
For conflict-averse Emil, it becomes more than a hypothetical question when he finds out that his best friend, confident Viktor, has started dating his mother, Helle. From there, things turn upside down as Emil learns to navigate the new reality, and where the friendship as the boys knew it is put to the test. Emil is played by Alex Høgh Andersen (Vikings, The Viking, The Shadow in My Eye), while the role of the outgoing and confident Viktor is played by Magnus Haugaard (Guilt, Love You for the Time, Centrum). The role of Helle is played by Ellen Hillingsø (Hvidstengruppen II, Advokaten, Dopamin).
Actors Alex Høgh Andersen and Magnus Haugaard are best friends in real life. They are the ones who first came up with the idea for 'Call Me Dad,' and they are now looking forward to redeeming it together.
- The development of the project has been a fun, educational and overwhelming process that has only given us more blood in our veins. I think most actors have a dream of launching their own original idea, and for that to happen now feels sincerely unreal. And to be able to do a project like this with my very best friend is a huge joy. I'm really looking forward to it," says Alex Høgh Andersen.
The actors have been working on the idea for 'Call Me Dad' for some time, and expectations are high.
- It's through my and Alex's love for each other that the idea for the project was born - and we try to bring that feeling throughout. It hasn't been a challenge at all, though, as we're part of a team where the chemistry is just really good and there's a general agreement about the direction we want to go. Christian Dyekjær, Søren Felbo and the rest of the team are the right people to take 'Call me Dad' to new heights, says Magnus Haugaard.
'Call me Dad' is directed by Christian Dyekjær, who is behind the series Guru and the feature film Fantasten. The script is by Søren Felbo (Sunday, Orkestret, Viaplay Original Series Friheden).
- My vision is to create a modern comedy series that exudes visual and narrative excess. A series that will both entertain and at the same time be about something as essential as how we treat each other and our shared planet in 2022. It is the greatest pleasure to work with two of the greatest acting talents of their generation. All in all, Viaplay's viewers can look forward to seeing a modern comedy series with an exceptionally strong cast down to the smallest supporting role, says director Christian Dyekjær.
In addition to the main cast, you can look forward to seeing names such as Roberta Reichhardt, Johanne Milland, Søren Sætter-Lassen, Peter Gantzler, Lone Rødbroe, Bjarne Henriksen, Lila Nobel, Oscar Dyekjær Giese and Tommy Kenter.
- When Alex Høgh Andersen and Magnus Haugaard first presented their idea for 'Call Me Dad,' we could immediately see that this was a unique opportunity for a unique series and it has been a pleasure to see their great talent, commitment and humour permeate the production of the series and watch them unfold this funny and absurd story together with an ensemble of some of Denmark's most talented actors. Together with the experienced team behind it, they have created a unique series and we are very excited to introduce Viaplay viewers to this comedy developed by two of Denmark's greatest acting talents. Viaplay has announced more than 30 Originals in recent years and our ambition is to deliver many more in the future. We hope for a continued healthy investment environment and fair playing field, which will create the best conditions for the production of Danish content, says Marlene Billie Andreasen, Head of Scripted Content, Denmark at Viaplay Group.
‘Kald mig far' is a Viaplay Original, and the series will be released in six episodes of approximately 25 minutes. 'Kald mig far' is produced by Nordisk Film Series for Viaplay by producers Trin Hjortkjær Thomsen and Laura Frederikke Kragholm. Executive Producer at Viaplay is Dorte Fuglsang. 'Call Me Dad' is expected to premiere in 2023.
Viaplay Group (publ) is the international streaming challenger. Our streaming service Viaplay is available in all Nordic and Baltic countries, Poland, the USA and the Netherlands. We are expanding rapidly and Viaplay will launch in the UK in 2022 followed by Canada, Germany, Austria and Switzerland in 2023. Viaplay will have a market presence in at least 21 countries by the end of 2023, including at least five partner markets for the Viaplay Select branded content concept.
Every day, we entertain millions of customers with our unique entertainment offering that includes acclaimed Viaplay Originals and a premium selection of live sports. From streaming to TV channels, radio stations and production companies, our purpose is to tell stories, touch people and broaden perspectives.
Translation via Google
Call Me Father has taken off and I still don't think it's fully understood. What remains is a lot of gratitude and joy for playing fandango on a daily basis with so many fantastic people and being able to call it my job. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ❤️ Thanks to all those who turned up yesterday for the premiere and cheered. Thanks to Søren Felbo and Christian Dyekjær for taking our little baby of an idea and turning it into a living being. Thanks to Trin Hjortkjær and Laura Kragholm and the rest of the office at Nordisk for taking us by the hand and guiding us ashore. Thanks to Viaplay for believing in us - without you no series. Thank you to the amazing cast and crew for all your absolutely brilliant work. It has meant the world to me to have you as colleagues. Thanks to my Johanne. Finally, thanks to my Magnus. And now I have a lump in my throat ❤️
Sidenote, my personal opinion, but I think they might already be engaged, kind of like how he said "if it's here it's here" and people would find out eventually. in a Jan 2023 interview when he wasn't single. The bachelor's comment. Then we're moving in soon, when she's already there. 😊😊
So I think they're already engaged but controlling when the fans find out. He can't stop people combing through his socials, but he CAN control when people know for certain. Maybe he's hinting again? 😊😊😊 if true, good for them. If he's waiting to propose then I hope it's a beautiful moment!! 😊😊💙💜❤💜💙❤😊😊

How do you sponsor YouTube influencers cost-effectively?
Based on insights from Bjarke Felbo of Rune (LinkedIn). Lightly edited with permission.
Influencers often expect compensation proportional to subscribers, but conversions happen proportional to views. So go after the influencers with high views and low subscribers. That’s the trick.
We’ve had the best success with 30-60 second promo spots at the beginning of the influencer’s video.
We’ve seen success depend on the video it’s attached to and what time of day/week it’s posted, so we’re strict about setting rules around that. Or, we give them a bonus based on the video’s view count to incentivize them to put our spot on a high-quality video.
Be careful with repeat promotions with the same influencer. These haven’t yielded noteworthy returns for us — even after months. It’s likely that the audience becomes saturated.
For SEO, how much does link building really matter in 2019?
From Nat Eliason of Growth Machine. Lightly edited by Demand Curve with permission.
Links are still important, but their importance is decreasing steadily. Google is getting better at evaluating content quality, and it’s focusing more on that.
Consider this: Google doesn’t want to be gameable, and domain authority and link building are very gameable. But content quality is not. You can’t fake good content.
Many major blogs outside of high authority spaces have grown rapidly using less link-building. Much of their energy is instead spent on choosing the right keywords (low competition, but still acceptable volume) and writing useful content that satisfies the searcher’s intent.
However, link-building can still speed up the process quite a bit if you’re on a tight timeline, or if you’ve given content 3-4 months to rank and aren’t seeing the results you want.

What’s the best way to take over a Twitter account from an inactive user?
Based on insights from Andrew Ettinger of Atoms. Lightly edited with permission.
Someone has your brand name as their Twitter handle and their account is inactive. How do you get access to it?
Create an ads account with an existing handle you want to swap for the one you’re trying to claim.
Go to twitter.com/en/help
Click on Account issues -> Claim an inactive username.
Submit a case.
You’ll then want your Twitter ads account manager to escalate your case (give them the case #).
This is not guaranteed. Your best chance of claiming that handle will be to have an existing Twitter employee escalate your case.
Demand Curve’s Asher King Abramson will lead a growth marketing session where he’ll tear down your landing pages and Facebook/Instagram ads in front of a live audience. He’ll deconstruct how effective they are at (1) conveying what you do (2) and doing so enticingly — so that people click.
If you’re attending Disrupt and want to participate, you can submit your assets to [email protected] for him to consider.
