We raise Angora and Colored Angora Goats! They grow amazing mohair!! For more than 20 years we’ve been breeding for fineness, softness, luster, curl and good healthy animals. Yes, on our farm there are a few that are pets, but our girls are career girls that grow fiber for our yarn and roving. They get shorn twice a year, usually fall and spring. This is Kevin Hickman of @sheargrazing He does an excellent job. Kevin has been shearing since he was a teenager. He has shorn in a number of different countries, all over the US, has competed; he mainly shears sheep but also does goats. He did a great job today! I was watering and checking the garden this evening and found some more cucumbers. Most of them will become pickles, but that big one will be for salads! We’re getting close to having tomatoes (we got a pretty late start this year). We also have a ton of tiny watermelons on a plant we originally thought was spaghetti squash. lol 😂🤷‍♀️ - - Then there is that gorgeous sunflower! How can anyone not feel a little happier by looking at them. They’re just magnificent, happy flowers. Lamb life was never quite part of the plan when we decided to get a few sheep to learn about wool, but we have enjoyed every step of this journey, and have learned a great deal about what it means to truly care for animals.❤️ We have decided downsize our flock rather dramatically and are going to sell the new lambs and yearlings this year.
