#I don't know I don't have a caption that doesn't involve the words 'gay' or 'homoerotic' for this okay

Why is Thailand obsessed with the husband- wife trope. Like its pretty annoying given that its a gay relationship and they make it seem like a het one. What are some bls (like bad buddy) where there is no implied 'husband-wife'

Husband Wife Language in Thai BL
It's heterosexual skew (the overlay of het relationship dynamics onto queer ones), so the narrative assumes that one party must "be the girl." This is pretty globally common.
Most of us who've been in a relationship that's not visually het have been asked, "So which one of you is the girl?" or "Which one of you is the boy?"
This is the narrative version of that.
It comes from an outsiders assumption about what it means to be gay and/or the fact that these narratives are not scripted (originally written) by those familiar with an actual queer existence (AKA the lack of a queer lens) as it is linguistically coded in the west.
It connects to patriarchal assumption that sex (as term and concept) must involve penetration. That "taking it" is somehow translated as a personality trait, and lots of other stuff. Thailand usually has pretty strong seme/uke dynamic and this trope is often ALSO het dysmorphic.
So the language being used is often translated as wife/husband.
Tumblr media
HOWEVER, there are two words for wife in Thai, the one we hear in BL (sounds like mee-ha) and the official one you're taught ภรรยา or phryā. The one in BL seems to be a kind of slang that has a lot more nuance than just wife.
In Peru some of the quechua I encountered made a point of distinguishing between mi esposa, which had to do with the church, household, and social appearances, and mi mujer, which had to do with family, home, and affection. I think there’s something similarly distinct going on with the two words for wife in Thai.
All that said meeha is still feminizing. (Although it behoves me to point out there’s NOTHING innately wrong with the feminine, it’s just socially lowering, othering, and demeaning in patriarchal environments.) And may or may not be slang in the Thai gay community for catcher.
Tumblr media
Partly I think captioners just don't know they can use the English word spouse under some circumstances, but also it's clear meeha is somewhat considered cute (by the narrative and the boys in the relationship).
Historically for BL, especially in Thailand, it has heritage. One of the first major BL’s first big moments of GAY GAY GAY was this:
Tumblr media
Kong is is using phi for you and meeha for wife.
But that was 2016.
Under queer context and thinking of something like SCOY in 2022 I would have personally preferred they just go with top/bottom/verse language (at least in translation), but in Thai it doesn't seem like they are that blatant, or maybe even have the words for gay sex act roles - so meeha has kind of become a euphemism for bottom.
Tumblr media
It's possible among some gay Thai men there is an actual adoption of meeha, much as "gurl!" and "beeatch" have been adopted amongst gay boys in the US. But that doesn't seem to be its application in BL. Use of ja, ha, and kha particles seems more common in this regard.
I'm not defending any of this, just trying to explain.
Repeat offenders include TharnType, SCOY, and ForthBeam in 2 Moons 2.
To answer your question:
Any BL that I file under “no sme/uke dynamic” will not use this trope or language: And yes, Pat & Pran are listed there. Also most of the non-school set Korean stuff, a lot of Taiwanese and quite a bit of Japanese stuff too.

So anyway I went exploring through a few funny weird blogs, but THEN somehow stumbled across a bunch of really really disgusting porn blogs. Not bots. Blogs.
At first I thought it was funny that people with elaborate bios actually ran these with their own posts and such. But then.
There's a middle aged white man who apparently blogs insultingly about his sexual encounters with young Asian girls. There is a whole bunch of dxddy kink blogs, full of misogyny (literally, they use that word). You know what else there is?
There's a bunch of blogs about "turning lesbians straight". One of them even claimed to BE a lesbian with a kink for misogyny and rape and all that shit, except when I skimmed through the posts, they broke character and it's CLEARLY a man adding captions to disgusting content (half of which was blocked from view at least). So just another male fantasising about raping lesbians online, the ethics of which doesn't apparently matter to tumblr since it exists.
So not only do I have to be subjected to posts about two girls and a dude which is labelled "lesbian", not only do I gotta see porn labelled "lesbian" which is clearly not wlw in any way whatsoever, usually involves a penis, and even has males cumming on the faces of kissing women. (Both of which does end up on my dash or pops up unexpectedly outside of tumblr). There are also males masquerading as "wlw who want to be raped straight", a few wandering clicks away.
THIS is why so many gay girls feel like they already lost before they even discover who they are. THIS is why lesbians and other gay girls so desperately need a form of community. The idea that from the moment you own a vagina and a pair of tits it is a ticking clock til being claimed by a penis is so ingrained in people that men literally cannot fathom the existence of penis-repulsed lesbians (or any lesbian/wlw tbh) - and of course they gotta fantasise publicly about "fucking these people straight".
Because a lot of these posts specifically talk about forcing their penis onto some gay girl. And uh, I still want to vomit. Reporting and blocking, what is the worst that does? And when you do, they spring back up somewhere else. This is a deep-rooted issue that stems from as we all know, the main theme of misogyny in the world.
Where's the fucking human dignity for LGBTQ+ women (many of whom are already sexually repressed)? This shit fucks real people up (as if we don't have enough to deal with every day). You know what, where's the fucking dignity for women at all when it comes to porn? Why is it that men like to push the boundaries of a woman's humanity and there isn't a fucking outcry about this kind of shit? You don't even have to go to those corners of the web to see the words "teen", "incest", racist lingo, and complete utter inhumane degradation of women and intersex people. Don't tell me it's a fetish because 1. do you really want to indulge in a fetish that actively causes harm and 2. fetishes stay fucking out of sight, and this? It comes within my online experience far too often.
Which is one of the upsetting things about those blogs I mentioned... It was way too easy to find them. Like what, four clicks from a cartoon blog to one about lesbian rape and mocking gay men. I'm sick of this shit.
This stuff needs to be actively fought, not endorsed. Not encouraged by all those "funny pxrnhub posts". I know I'm not alone here, but somehow I don't personally see more discussion on this.
