Last Song: Home to Me by Devil and the Deep Blue Sea. Got the whole album after hearing it on @words-writ-in-starlight's Kencyrath playlist!
How dare you love me like you've never known fear When you've got more troubles than minutes in the year And a voice like your father's tells you nothing good's for free Well that may be, but you're walking home to me
Currently Watching: Brain not currently accepting video input? Really wanna finish Spy x Family and watch Nimona tho. And Mr. and Mrs. Smith
Currently Reading: Uhhh. Uhhhhhhh.
Non-fiction (Academic)- Collecting, Preserving, and Interpreting the History of Electronic Games by Jon-Paul C. Dyson for an essay I should be writing about the "discourse community" around archiving video games and connected materials
Non-fiction (Leisure)- Word by Word: The Secret Life of Dictionaries by Kory Stamper and The Billionaire's Vinegar by Benjamin Wallace (it's about wine fraud)
Fiction- direly tempted to, instead of writing my essay, start either In the Watchful City by S. Qiouyi Lu (an extrasensory human, Anima, starts to question ær job maintaining and protecting ær city when a cabinet of curiosities comes to town) (FUN PRONOUNS) or Tentacle by Rita Indiana (trans masc protagonist in the Dominican Republic tries to get transition drug and also prevent environmental disaster with time travel)
Fanfiction- where are they fucking hiding the Star Wars clone shenanigans. This fandom is massive why can't I find more CLONES and (this is important) co-dependence and polyamory. Anakin is a background character unless it gets me more Padme and Obi-wan being considerate and kind translating directly to bottoming has gotten old fast
Current Obsession: I have brainworms about GrimmIchi and have recently been consumed by Don't Starve Together (game).
Tagging: Gabe (above), @aethersea @tanoraqui @smallblueandloud @thesuninperigee @starcloud-nova @firecoloredwater and @mothman-etd

I don't remember if you've posted a book recommendation list before, but I really enjoyed Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue, and Winter's Orbit, both of which I've heard of through your blog. Do you have any other recommendations?
YESSS that was me, I love both of those books!! Here are some recs. These are all great audiobooks, since that is how I read most books.  The other books in the Gentlemen’s Guide series are just as good. I just love Mackenzi Lee’s writing. I really want to be her friend, please help.
Next stop on the Xina Booklist is Nice Dragons Finish Last and the rest of the Heartstrikers series by Rachael Aaron! I fell hard in love with those!! The narrator is totally swoon-worthy. I am also really into this YA superhero story called Not Your Sidekick, which is the closest thing I’ve ever read to the original work in my head that I will start writing at some point.  Dreadnought by April Daniels is another rad superhero story with queer elements, although I have to tw that one for some heavy trans stuff going on. But it has a happy ending!  Or if you want some soft lesbian fantasy, there’s The Queen of Ieflaria by Effie Calvin. It’s kind of like the lesbian version of Winter’s Orbit! OH and A Natural History Of Dragons by Marie Brennan! It’s a series as well. Another great narrator! The Girl Who Drank the Moon is a really special story to me, as well. Special mention for the narrator, who makes you feel like you are listening to your grandmother tell you a wholesome and mysterious story while curled up in bed. One of those rare stories that leaves you feeling like a better person once you’ve heard it. I feel that way about the Heartstrikers series too... Lastly, if you really want to get deep into my brain you will check out the Temeraire series that begins with His Majesty’s Dragon, by fandom hero Naomi Novik! *swoon* PLEASE come fan with me about anything you read and love. ❤️ 💕

Ooooo! ::rubs hands:: 46! 39! 22! 3! 😁❤️❤️❤️10! 49! Haha ok ill be good now... 😁
Fanfic asks behind the cut as it’s long!
3- 3 favourite writers I’m going with authors for this just because I did three fav fic writers in another meme recently. Also 3? 3 favourites Three is not enough. I can’t pick three favourite books or three favourite authors. So you are getting my three comfort authors who I have reread and reread and mainly the reason for that is I love the worlds they have created, Naomi Novik - I have read the Temeraire series SO many times. I have read so many regency books and so many fantasy books and this is both and I love it. It’s not too fantastical – no magic. Just dragons and I love love love the dragons. Martha Wells – I have actually only read her Raksura novels because I have a weird thing where what if I don’t like the other series as much so I don’t try them but I probably will over the summer. But these are definitely the most original world building I’ve ever read. Isobelle Carmody – I’ve loved the Obernewton series since I was thirteen or fourteen. I still haven’t read the last one though as then it will be over. (I have issues haha)
10 - how do you do your research? I read a lot? I have several books on writing in historical times. (I especially love Medieval Underpants and Other Blunders) and I do a lot of very specific google searches.
22 favorite story you’ve ever written – hmmm. I think Bound in her Bones? It took on a life of it’s own after I added in the oc kids and if I ever finish it I’m going to do a one shot set like 10 years later when Althea is out and James thinks no man ever is good enough for her.
39. do you want to be published some day? Kinda? I don’t know – I do write original stuff but I have never finished any of it. I showed some of my short stories to my book group (after I was asked) and writing is fun and I wonder if doing it for publication would be less fun? Also I suck at editing. I hate it so much. I feel like I’d have to get a lot better at that before I could consider it. But maybe one day haha. 49. writing advice? Write what you enjoy! Fic should be fun!
46. share a scene of a story that you haven’t published yet James had married Elizabeth anyway of course, what kind of a man could abandon a pregnant woman to disgrace. And she had seemed so vulnerable. James had thought that eventually they might rub along together. A marriage of convenience was not what he had wanted but it had seemed preferable to leaving the woman he loved to her fate as an unwed mother. He had not realised then that she despised him. Their early marriage had been manageable. Elizabeth had been ill for most of her pregnancy and spent much of the time abed and was tearful when not. He had attempted to offer comfort as much as he could but it was rare Elizabeth accepted it. Instead she would dry her eyes whenever he was present. But Weatherby had been born hale and healthy – he had been late which had helped the talk even if it had not improved Elizabeth’s temper any. James approved of the name which he was not consulted on – he had lived in fear she would name a boy William, despite the gossip that doing so would generate.
