Today's #YankeesTrivia question is 4 players have hit 75+ homers each with the Yankees and the Athletics.
I got three out of the four: Reggie Jackson, Rickey Henderson and Jason Giambi.
I was under the impression that Roger Maris played longer of the Kansas City A's. He hit 35 homers for KC in 1958-1959.
Nick Swisher surprised me. I didn't realize he had that many homers with both the A's and Yanks. Go Swish!!!!

'Moneyball' - One of the Best Baseball Movies Ever
WRITER’S NOTE: This movie review was written in 2012. I present it now as the latest baseball season has now begun. “Moneyball” is, for my money, the best baseball movie since “Bull Durham” as, like Ron Shelton’s 1988 classic, it takes a very unique look at this American pastime and the players who inhabit it. Whereas most baseball movies are about rising to the occasion and winning the big…

my favorite baseball game (15 april 2007)
below is something i wrote in 2012 to commemorate my favorite baseball game.
Tumblr media
This was inspired by a thread on Myspace about how awesome Mariano Rivera is, even though he's kind of old. Whenever the-last-remaining-#42 is mentioned, just one game comes to mind, one glorious game in April.
I wrote this little ditty and posted it in that thread, but decided that here would be a good, permanent home for it.
----
I will tell you about my favorite Mariano Rivera outing. I invite you all to share your own.
Over a year ago in the bright sunlight of the Oakland Coliseum, it’s a day game in April, and the date is Sunday the 15th.
The attendance is 35,077, the same it’s been for the whole series – a sellout crowd (in more ways than one). The Yankees are in town. More than just the famed Mariano Rivera is wearing the number 42.
Rich Harden is pitching.
A two-run first inning had put the A's up early, but their bats were unable to produce the rest of the game.
Goose eggs for both teams until the seventh inning, where after two pitches to Alex Rodriguez (a strike and a ball) Jason Kendall trots out to the mound in all his veteran glory and is joined by home plate umpire Laz Diaz and then the pitching coach, manager, and trainer.
Meanwhile, Rodriguez gets treatment of his own for a bloody nose.
Rich shakes his head at Larry Davis and speaks some in his Canadian tongue, which he slips into in moments of frustration and pain. (Davis, of course, is well-versed in Canadian after spending so much time with the oft-injured pitcher.)
Rich shrugs, nods, and smirks at manager Bob Geren, who is not so familiar with Canadian and steps off the mound to allow Rich to throw some pitches. Rich throws one high and windmills his shoulder. He insists upon staying in the game and Geren, lulled into a false sense of security by the Canadian's charm and gentle smirk, lets him stay in.
Rodriguez, bloody nose taken care of, steps into the box. He works a double off Rich and Geren heads back to the mound and takes the ball from that tricky Canadian. He is done for the day, done for the week, and done for most of the season.
Joe Kennedy (may he rest in peace) enters the game to face Jason Giambi (who is being heartily booed by the Oakland faithful). His first pitch ends up in right field and there are runners on the corners with no outs, Jorge Posada up to the plate. He scorches a double down the left field line on the 9th pitch of the at-bat, scoring Rodriguez and sending Giambi, not exactly fleet of foot, to third. Rich's run has scored and the lead is hanging on by a thread with men on second and third and no outs. The sun beats down on Joe's fair skin and the temperature rises.
Giambi scores on a sacrifice fly by Robinson Cano and it’s a tie ballgame. It’s 2-2 and Rich’s win is gone. Joe has blown the save and with one out and a runner on third he can only hope to get back into the dugout without giving up another run.
Kiko Calero is up in the bullpen.
The Yankees take the lead on a sac fly from Melky Cabrera and Joe keeps sweating. Doug Mientkiewicz strikes out trying to check his swing and the inning is over.
But in the 8th, Joe gives up another run to make it 4-2, Yankees. Kiko comes in to finish of the inning and Jay Marshall pitches a scoreless 9th.
Athletics fans shake their heads when Mariano Rivera steps in, that number 42 on his back making them wince, thinking of their broken starter on this Jackie Robinson Day (not to mention the closer’s impeccable stats and spotless baseball reputation).
Eric Chavez grounds out on the first pitch of his at bat and A’s fans sigh.
Bobby Crosby hits a fly ball to right field, giving the A’s fans a brief rush of “Maybe, could he possibly …?” before it lands in Bobby Abreu’s glove. The A’s fans either sit down to wait out the last out or walk up the aisles to beat the traffic home.
Todd Walker (who else remembered he had a stint with the A’s in 2007?) slaps a basehit to left field and some of those fans walking out slide into a seat, just in case.
Jason Kendall is at bat and as he is swinging through a pitch Todd takes second base on defensive indifference. Jason takes on a 3-1 count and the umpire calls a strike. Geren hollers from the A’s dugout and A’s fans make themselves known. “Are ya crazy, blue? That was a mile high! Who’s payin’ your salary -- Steinbrenner?”
Marco Scutaro is on deck, taking his swings and waiting for the moment he was born for.
Jason fouls off the next pitch and the pitch after that and the one after that goes off his ankle. He’s a hard-nosed gamer not afraid to get dirty, but that’s not what he’s getting paid to do as an Oakland Athletic; he’s getting paid to get on base.
Jason steps back in and waves his bat and takes a pitch high and at his hands. As he takes his base the remaining A’s fans get to their feet – the winning run is at the plate and it’s Marco Scutaro holding the bat!
Posada walks out to the mound and pats Rivera on the back. Maybe he’s saying what to throw next, maybe he’s talking about what Marco’s weaknesses are, and maybe he’s just telling him a joke. Whatever it is, Marco waits patiently, prepared.
Batting ninth in this game Marco has struck out twice and grounded to short, hardly anyone’s best hope in this kind of situation, but all of Oakland remembers his magical doubles and how the stadium shook with their shouts of his name last October, the team clean and crisp and finally finally winning.
Rivera paints the black for a called strike and Marco steps back, appraising the opposing pitcher. He bows his head, adjusts his helmet, and eyes his bat as if to say, “You got a hit in you? Please, jus’ don’ strike out.” He spits in the dirt and steps back in, tapping the ground with his bat and digging in with his cleats. Marco pulls the next pitch foul and the crowd is so full of Yankees fans that hardly a sound goes up in hope. Marco steps out of the box and applies more pine tar to his bat.
It’s the bottom of the ninth. There are two outs. Todd Walker is on second, Jason Kendall is on first, the score is 4-2 favoring the visitors and Marco stands in with an 0-2 count. The crowd gets loud, Yankees fans cheering for a strike and Oakland fans just wanting to get another man on for Bradley. They dare not hope for more. Their tender hearts are already hurting from the loss of their short right-handed power pitcher.
The runners take their leads off their respective bases.
Rivera leans in, gets his sign, then straightens up.
Marco peers out intently from under the brim of his batting helmet and the ball is on its way.
Marco makes contact to left field, it’s high, it’s away, it’s heading towards the foul pole --
“If it’s fair, it’s ------ GONE! THE A’S WIN IT! SCUTARO WINS IT! Celebrate -- Oakland A’s, are you kidding me?”
Marco rounds the bases after Todd and Jason, rushing to meet the clutch of his teammates surrounding home plate, smiles splashed across their faces and the A’s fans, out-cheering the Yankees fans for once, shouting his name --
“MAR-CO! SCU-TA-RO!”
--
Rivera left Oakland that April 15th, still looking for his first save of the 2007 season.

Blog Entry Intro 1
For my blog entries my topic will be covering Sports films produced globally and I will discuss their importance in how we view sports and compare and contrast them based off how they present the information or if they simply do it for entertainment with fictional stories. I chose this topic as I am a huge sports fan and it interests me on how other countries around the would portray sports through film especially considering different sports are more popular in other countries than here in America. Sports films play a huge role in not only the sports world but in the Cinema Industry as well. Sports Cinema has allowed us to be entertained but also gain information on the history of sports and athletes globally. Over the years Sports Cinematography has improved extremely and we now see more meaningful plots and importance to these films. For example, An American Film from 2011 Moneyball directed by Bennett Millerwas a film based on a true story of the Oakland Athletics 2002 season. What made this film stand out was the importance of statistics and strategy. This film showed viewers that sports was not all about the salary a team has. And how even a team like the Oakland Athletics with the worst Salary Cap in the Major League Baseball could compete with their Strategy in creating a team based off statistics. The manager played by Brad Pitt put together a team with a low Salary cap based off their on base percentage. He believed along with his assistant that if they played 9 guys with great on base percentage similar to the players that they lost (Jason Giambi and Johnny Damon) because they didn’t have enough money last year that they would compete with the teams that had more money. They did so and went on to break the American League record for the most wins in a row and went to the playoffs. Compared to older common sports films this movie established meaning in the sports world. For example, a movie like Rocky directed by John G. Avildsen in 1976 was considered one of the greatest American Sports Film Series of all time but its meaning meant no importance to Sports today. Rocky yes is looked at as one of the most popular sports movie characters in history but it is also mostly fictional. The movie was inspired by a boxer named Rocky Marciano but most characters in the movie are made up. So it is interesting to compare these movies as one focuses on entertainment itself and the other focuses on being an informative. And that’s what I am going to being talking about in my future blogs. I am going to discuss how different countries present sports cinema whether it be informative, Entertainment, both or neither. I will also focus on which directors do this best compared to other Sports Cinema I have seen previously and through my other blog entries.

In 2011, Condé Nast Traveler named the Cosmopolitan to its Scorching Listing of 124 hotels, writing that the resort, regardless of "fulfilling the formulation of any glitzy, behemoth Vegas casino-hotel, manages to feel each distinctive and intimate. The latter is due in part to the hotel's verticality, which spreads the general public areas over three floors instead of one".
In 2012, the Cosmopolitan was deemed "North America's Greatest Hotel" by Gogobot. Later that 12 months, Fodor's named it among the many a hundred finest accommodations on the planet, praising its design, technological innovation and customer support. With The Martian Invading Space City, The Yanks Sweep the Astros
NYY @ HOU
Game 1
LHP Carlos Rodón towed the slab for the New York Yankees at Minute Maid Park versus RHP Justin Verlander in his second stint with the Houston Astros.
In the top of the first inning, 1B DJ LeMahieu hit a leadoff home run off Verlander, immediately making the score 1-0 Yankees.
Later in the same inning, rookie CF Jasson Domínguez – named after former MLB first baseman Jason Giambi, who was well-liked as a Yankee and teammate in general – got his first major league hit.
This first major league hit was The Martian’s first home run, a two-run shot off Verlander, scoring DH Giancarlo Stanton and himself in the process. The Yankees extended the against the Astros to 3-0.
youtube
When I first witnessed this kid’s at-bat, I exclaimed, “This isn’t real life! Major League Baseball is not that easy!”
As the game progressed, 1B Jose Abreu hit a solo home run off Rodón in the bottom of the second inning. The Astros were on the board, now 3-1 Yankees.
In the top of the third inning, Stanton hit a two-run home run off Verlander, scoring RF Aaron Judge. The Yankees now led by 5-1.
In the bottom of the third inning, RF Kyle Tucker hit an RBI double, scoring 3B Alex Bregman. It was 5-2 Yankees.
In the top of the fifth inning, Judge hit a solo home run off Verlander. The Yankees extended their lead to 6-2. This was the final score of this game.
Another note from this game was that rookie C Austin Wells got his first major league hit – a single – off Verlander in the top of the second inning.
Game 2
RHP Luis Severino started for the Yankees against RHP Hunter Brown for the Astros.
In the top of the second inning, 2B Oswald Peraza an RBI single off H. Brown, which scored Stanton. The Yankees took the lead 1-0.
In the same inning, 3B Oswaldo Cabrera walked, forcing in SS Anthony Volpe as an insurance run with the bases loaded against H. Brown. The Yankees now led by 2-0.
In the bottom of the second inning, LF Michael Brantley hit a two-run home run off Severino, scoring Abreu and himself. The score was tied at 2-2.
In the top of the third inning, Judge hit a solo home run off H. Brown. The Yankees once again took the lead at 3-2.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, C Yainer Diaz hit a two-run home run off Severino, scoring Brantley and himself. The Astros took the lead at 4-3.
In the top of the fifth inning, Wells got his first major league RBI by hitting a sacrifice fly off reliever Phil Maton, scoring Judge. The score was knotted at 4-4.
In the same inning, LF Everson Pereira hit an RBI single off Maton, scoring Domínguez. The Yankees took the lead in this game by 5-4 and won by this score.
Game 3
RHP Michael King got the start for the Yankees versus RHP Cristian Javier for the Astros.
In the bottom of the first inning, Tucker hit a sac fly off King, scoring Bregman. The Astros took the lead at 1-0.
The scoring in general would cease until the top of the sixth inning, when LeMahieu hit an RBI double off Javier, scoring Cabrera. The score was tied at 1-1.
In the same inning, The Martian hit his second major home run and third major league. Domínguez’s second major league hit – a single in the top of the sixth inning off relief pitcher Rafael Montero – came in game two of this series.
youtube
The youngster’s home run was off Javier and another two-run shot, scoring LeMahieu. The Yankees took the lead by 3-1.
In the top of the ninth inning, 2B Gleyber Torres – plagued by lower back issues and sat earlier in this series – hit a solo home run off relief pitcher José Urquidy. The Yankees extended their lead to 4-1.
In the same inning, Wells gets his first RBI hit – a double – off Urquidy, scoring Volpe. The Yankees now led by 5-1.
Later in the inning, Peraza hit an RBI double off Urquidy, scoring Wells. The Yankees went ahead by 6-1 and would win by that score.
Something to note in this game was that King was able to pitch the minimum number of innings to qualify for a win. He pitched five innings, giving up one earned run and getting four strikeouts.
With this outing under his belt, King could definitely be a more consistent starting pitcher next season. It might be too late to try something like that this season.

Breaking Bad Posters
Breaking Bad Posters
The Postmodern Era may have made life dreary, but the Breaking Bad Posters make life seem like an exciting adventure. These evocative pieces of art are all over the web and can help you feel like a bad boy again. After the show's release, Breaking Bad Posters quickly went viral, and now you can find them everywhere! Culver's "The Elements of Bad" poster
Fans of Breaking Bad will love this 24-foot-by-36-foot poster, hand-drawn by artist Dennis Culver. It features the characters from the hit series. The poster is available at a cost of $25 and is printed on 100lb glossy text stock. Each illustration features a different character from the series. Better Call Saul's Clippin' JimmyBreaking Bad Apparel
Better Call Saul's Clippin' Jim is a spin-off series of the hit television show Better Call Saul. The animated series follows the adventures of young Jimmy McGill in Cicero, Illinois, who works with Marco Pasternak. The series features a colorful cast of characters and a unique voice-over by Jason Giambi.
The new series will premiere on AMC+ this summer, so you can enjoy the first few episodes of this fun new spinoff while you're waiting for Better Call Saul to return for its final season. If you miss it, you can catch up on previous episodes on AMC+.
Clippin' Jimmy stars Jimmy McGill and Marco Pasternak, who go on adventures in classic movie genres. The show is aimed at adults, so it is inappropriate for children. The show is filled with crude animation and immature humor. And while the show is a fun concept, it isn't very well-executed. Walter White's sleazy strip-mall lawyer Saul Goodman
Saul Goodman, Walter White's sleazy, strip-mall lawyer, was the most memorable character in Breaking Bad. His story was a constant contrast between feeling alive and straight-and-narrow work. The twisted tale of his life, from the faked accident to the estate law case, had an infectious and inescapable hook.
Saul Goodman is played by Bob Odenkirk, and is named after his goofy catchphrase. While his character has no formal education, he has a great deal of charisma and is an excellent lawyer. Saul defends his clients, including a drug-dealing duo. He's also as depraved as his clients.
While the show isn't based on a single character, there's still a strong sense of character. The series' central characters - Walter White, Saul Goodman, and Jesse Pinkman - have become firmly entrenched in the hearts of fans. In this final season, the cast and crew are settling the plot and building the characters for the finale.breaking bad merch Better Call Saul's Better Call Saul
In one episode, Better Call Saul flashed back to the Breaking Bad era. Now, the acclaimed drama series returns to the black-and-white era of the hit series. The posters were designed by Joseph Oland and printed on archival paper, ensuring their longevity. They also include a white border around the image to allow for future framing or matting.
Saul is an effective lawyer who is able to find loopholes in the law and solve problems for his clients. He also has a strong sense of honor, and is reluctant to associate with violence or murder. When Jesse tells him that Walt poisoned Brock, Saul is horrified.
After a long process, Saul is finally arrested. He asks for a taxi and shows concern for the cab driver. He then asks the driver to drop him off in his neighborhood. As he gets out of the car, Saul pretends to tie his tie, so that he can look behind him.https://breakingbadmerch.com/

“He’s gotten into his natural habitat in right I guess the Yankees will play him more in left, because there’s more room out there and he can cover it,” Nitkowski said. Boone has not said how he plans to use Gallo, but he will have options. Gardner, who turns 38 next month, made a costly two-base error with the bases loaded on Thursday. “He really jumps off the screen at you with how physically impressive he is with his athleticism.” “I knew his reputation as an athlete and a defender, but seeing him in Texas when we went there for that four-game series, to see him run, to see him move in the outfield, to see him throw, you really took notice of it,” Boone said. This is his seventh season in the majors but is only 27 years old. He won a Gold Glove in right field last season and has made at least 30 career starts in left, center and both corner infield spots. Gallo is also huge (6-foot-5, 250 pounds) but his size obscures his dexterity in the field. Gallo almost never grounds into double plays (just nine in more than 2,100 career plate appearances), and leads all left-handed hitters in homers off lefty pitchers since 2017, with 44. There is more to like about Gallo, a Las Vegas native who honed his swing as an amateur with help from the former Yankee Jason Giambi, who ran a hitting facility that employed Gallo’s father as an instructor.
