KOKIA round-up: March 14-18, 2023

Once again, I’ll have to resort to providing summaries instead of full translations for KOKIA’s blog entries. My apologies and thank you for your continuous patience. I’ll also include updates from YouTube below to round out the news from this week. - KOKIAfans admin

In her blog entry of March 14, KOKIA informs the members of her fan club ancoro that the people who got selected for her ‘25th anniversary celebration’ have received a message telling them they won. She does feel very sorry for those who missed out and hopes she’ll get to meet them somewhere else soon.

In her entry of March 15, KOKIA reveals one of her career dreams is coming true in her 25th anniversary concert next month. Musician and violinist Norihiro Tsuru is joining her band as a ‘sound ranger’ for the concert. She holds him in high esteem and is very excited to share this news. He also did work for Nesia no tabibito (’voyagers of Nesia’), for which KOKIA got to perform the theme song, and Karakurizoushi Ayatsuri sakon ('Doll puppeteer Sakon'), for which KOKIA performed the song Sayonara wa iwanaide (’don’t say goodbye’). She’d only just debuted back then, and she thought she was a hundred years too early to invite Tsuru to perform with her, but it only took 25 years in the end. Ayako, who has been playing with Tsuru for many years, will also join on cello. The concert will probably have some charming violin arrangements, so stay tuned!

Today, KOKIA held her last of the monthly viewing parties on YouTube, this time showing her 2012 concert ‘History’. In the chat, she announced that the pamphlet for her 25th anniversary will have 32 pages. She’s thinking of selling them via the web shop too as well as at the venue, and it will be bilingual, in both Japanese and English.

Since this is her last chance to ask in the chat, she mentions how tickets for April 27 are still available for purchase via livepocket.

She feels that the feelings of the History concert are connected to her 25th anniversary concert, and she’s looking forward to April 1, when she’ll be able to meet her audience in real life at Yatsugatake Kogen Music Hall. Thanks for joining these free streams!

Я думаю, многие наслышаны про японское театральное искусство, в корне разнящееся от европейского. Подборка этих аниме поможет вам окунуться в этот таинственный и незнакомый для нас мир японского театра.

1. Рассказы кукловода Сакона | Karakurizoushi Ayatsuri Sakon

В этот затрагивается сразу два вида традиционного театра: Бунраку и Но. Бунраку - традиционная форма кукольного японского театра, а Но - один из видов японского драматического театра. Аниме расскажет про юношу Сакона и его особенную куклу Бунраку, с которым они вместе раскрывают самые разные загадочные преступления.

2. Сёва-Гэнроку: Двойное самоубийство по ракуго | Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu

В этот раз речь пойдёт про театр Ракуго - необычный театр одного актёра. Суть его заключается в том, что один актёр сидит на сцене и рассказывает какую-либо историю (чаще комическую), изображая поочерёдно разных персонажей.

Сёва Гэнроку - тяжёлое и драматичное аниме с интересным сюжетом, в который тонко вплетена история искусства Ракуго. Его стоит смотреть в первую очередь ради прекрасного сюжета, попутно наслаждаясь декорациями старой Японии и её культурным контекстом.

3. В ракуго только девушки | Joshiraku

Ещё одно аниме, посвящённое искусству Ракуго, но в этот раз - чистая комедия. История повествует про девушек-подруг, выступающих в Ракуго, а так же закулисных подоплёках театра и жизни в целом.

4. Клуб кабуки | Kabuki-bu!

Кабуки - один из самых известнейших видов театрального искусства из страны восходящего солнца. Представляет собой синтез пения, музыки, танца и драмы. Исполнители кабуки используют сложный грим и костюмы с большой символической нагрузкой.

История аниме расскажет про юношу, что страстно влюблён в искусство Кабуки, тем самым начав свой долгий тернистый путь в этот мир.

5. Забавные небесные девы | Rakugo Tennyo Oyui

Ещё одно аниме, посвящённое искусству Ракуго. Расскажет про подруг, что попали в прошлое, а именно в Японию эпохи Эдо. Хоть аниме и не совсем про Ракуго, но мелькает оно здесь часто.

KOKIA in flashback - 2000

Moving into the new century, KOKIA stops releasing music under the Ponyo Canyon label in 2000. She doesn't release any albums or singles with only her name on the cover, but instead collaborates, mostly with Ryuichi Kawamura's ЯKS production project, providing the vocals for five songs total. With the singles and album published under Victor Entertainment, this paves the way for KOKIA's releases next year.
