Il Nintendo eShop è sempre più popolato da indie games, giochi indipendenti realizzati alla grande da un piccolissimo gruppo di persone, e da giochi per smartphone…ecco, appunto.
Wired Productions e Kukouri Mobile Entertainment hanno portato Tiny Troopers (opera principale di Kukouri) sul Nintendo Switch eShop in una versione per “console” chiamata Joint Ops Xl ma che, sfortunatamente, non sfrutta quello che Nintendo Switch ha da offrire.
Tiny Troopers è un gioco per dispositivi mobili rilasciato addirittura nell’ormai remoto 2012 dove, nel corso degli anni, ha trovato due seguiti (anche se è meglio chiamarli aggiornamenti) e il primo gioco della serie per console da salotto, questo qui.
E’ la natura ibrida di Nintendo Switch che ha fatto si che Tiny Troopers Joint Ops Xl sia arrivato su eShop, un gioco per tablet, se ci pensate bene, per il tablet Nintendo (modalità portatile). Il gioco, infatti, da il meglio di se proprio in modalità portatile sfruttando alla grande il touch-screen Switch (si può addirittura giocare senza Joy-Cons) ma, sfortunatamente, poco e niente i due super-tecnologici (e anche tiny) controllers Switch.
Dato che il Nintendo Switch è si una console ibrida ma nasce prima di tutto come console da salotto, noi, come in tutte le nostre recensioni, iniziamo a parlare del gioco riferendoci alla modalità TV. In Tiny Troopers Joint Ops Xl siamo chiamati a combattere una mini-guerra con mini-soldati. Il gioco offre quattro campagne: Campagna Soldati, Campagna Corpi Speciali, Campagna Zombie e Xombione.
La Campagna Soldati offre una decina circa di mini-mappe per ogni Operazione per il totale di una trentina di missioni più o meno divertenti. Dopo aver scelto la difficoltà e la povera personalizzazione del team d’assalto (il team e le armi possono essere personalizzate per un massimo di 5 livelli) la vostra mini-missione inizierà col botto, beh no, senza botto. I soldati saranno scaricati sulla mappa dall’elicottero dove, che siano tre o quattro, si muoveranno all’unisono con la levetta analogica di sinistra. Infatti, i piccoli soldati si muoveranno insieme, nello stesso momento, dove però, spesso e volentieri, si metteranno nei pasticci da soli (ad esempio quando uno del gruppo non riesce a salire una rampa di scale o resta bloccato da un sasso). La levetta analogica di destra e dedicata all’arma principale che sparerà nella direzione in cui voi la punterete. Il tasto X è riservato al supporto aereo (potrete acquistare oggetti che vi arriveranno all’istante dall’alto) mentre quello B alla mappa.
Il vostro compito sarà, quasi sempre, quello di eliminare i nemici presenti sulla mappa con piccole variazioni del tipo “scorta la troupe al traguardo” oppure “distruggi tutte le abitazioni nemiche” e via dicendo. Sulla mappa di gioco troverete oggetti utili come armi secondarie, utilizzabili con i tasti dorsali (occhio a come lanciarli però), medaglie e altre cose da soldati. La visuale del gioco è quella a volo d’uccello (per essere precisi: visuale isometrica) dove i soldati potranno esplorare la piccolissima mappa e completare l’obiettivo della missione quasi sempre senza affanni.
Tiny Troopers offre un po’ di brio in più con le modalità incluse in questa edizione, la Joint Ops Xl, come nella Campagna Zombie dove, al posto dei soldati nemici, dovrete vedervela con le creature non-morte alla The Walking Dead (anche se, alla fine, lo scopo è sempre lo stesso). Tiny Troopers Joint Ops Xl poteva essere impreziosito dall’aggiunta di una modalità CO-OP, completamente assente, che avrebbe sicuramente portato il videogiocatore a passare più tempo, e in compagnia, in-game.
Come abbiamo già detto, questo piccolo sparatutto arcade da il meglio di se in portatile dove le dimensioni diminuiscono e, il gioco, ritorna alla sua natura ovvero quella da gioco per dispositivi mobili. Tiny Troopers Joint Ops Xl in portatile può essere giocato anche senza Joy-Cons che, a differenza del touch-screen, sono davvero poco sfruttati. Niente HD Rumble, niente modalità 2 giocatori…e allora è meglio giocare a Tiny Troopers usando soltanto lo schermo della console anche se, così facendo, fatichiamo a trovare differenze tra questa versione (€12.99) e quella per smartphone (gratis).
Tiny Troopers Joint Ops Xl è quindi uno sparatutto arcade isometrico per Nintendo Switch che arriva dal monotono mercato videoludico dei dispositivi intelligenti. Spesso e volentieri non amiamo (ci riferiamo al nostro Roscio) questo tipo di port per svariati motivi che, fortunatamente per voi, non staremo ad elencarvi. Tiny Troopers Joint Ops Xl può essere anche un ottimo gioco per smartphone ma ha fatto davvero molto poco per esserlo anche su Nintendo Switch. Certo, ci spiace, ma Tiny Troopers Joint Ops Xl non è un gioco per Nintendo Switch.
Tiny Troopers Joint Ops Xl è disponibile da oggi, 21 dicembre 2017, sul Nintendo Switch eShop al prezzo di €12.99 (che sul Play Store di Google è gratis) per ben 3.5 GB di spazio su console o microSD (che occupa la grafica in stile Worms del gioco creata con Unity).
