so, this post is really just going to be one massive self-own, but per @mardisoir - here are some highlights from the numerous embarrassing les mis fanmixes i made on 8tracks in 2013, because i’m old. links are included so you really get the full effect of the very Aesthetique graphics i made for all of my mixes (& should you, for some reason, actually want to listen to this trash). i would love to see all of y’all’s embarrassing 2013 8tracks fanmixes too.

not too bad so far, but this was very clearly the good old days when the widely accepted fanon prouvaire was like a cis white gay who dressed like an artsy fartsy 15 year old tumblr girl for some reason, which is... amazing. i was an artsy fartsy 18 year old tumblr person at the time, so we were kindred spirits. it was great.

this is a great mix for a couple of nerdy straight people who love being straight. why was this, like, the de-facto combeferre ship in 2013? no tea / no shade but i’m glad we don’t write him as a heterosexual anymore. i don’t even know what to say about this one except that i am lol-ing.

ok guys i’m not gonna lie right now this entire playlist actually slaps so hard. i stand by this one. joly, bossuet, and musichetta are perfect & can do no wrong even if their theme music is all like early ‘00s indie electro-pop american apparel looking ass vibes. new AU where they all three dress like it’s 2008 & start an uffie cover band & actually get substantial screen time instead of providing ambiguous diversity to a story about enjolras and grantaire’s cis white gay dudebro manpain in 2013.

anyway like i could keep going because there are SO MANY OTHER MIXES (including a feuilly-centric mix that is for some reason comprised solely of weird bluegrass music about drug abuse?) & i’m sure they all feature the same four sufjan stevens songs but this is already getting obnoxiously long so like i hope y’all are as entertained by this stroll down memory lane as i was. & also like truly wanna say, as an old school fandom person who has sort of come back in the last couple of years (you can take a person out of the parisian sewer systems but you can’t take the parisian sewer systems out of my heart) it is nice to see that we are by and large a much more interesting and well-rounded place than we were when everything looked like... this.
