"Akira VS Pikachu" by Yoshihiro Togashi

Togashi has participated in some doujinshi circles in the late 90s with Kazushi Hagiwara (Bastard!!) and other famous manga artists. In 1997, he contributed to Hagiwara's "Wonderful Fight" (Wanda Furya Fight) doujinshi, with this 7-page manga (pp.33-39).

Besides some characters from "Virtua Fighter" and Pikachu from "Pokemon", the last scene is a reference from the 1995 movie "Gonin" (The Five).

When the hitman Ichiro Kyoya, played by Takeshi Kitano, fails to hit the target, he hands the weapon to his partner Kazuma, saying that gun was useless. The quote "Dame da, kono teppo" (ダメだこの鉄砲) has become very famous.

In the manga, Togashi (Takeshi) fails to hit Pikachu with his gun. Instead, he ended up dodging the bullets and dismembering everyone.

The scene of Takeshi holding the umbrella while shooting other men is also famous. The actor had a motorcycle accident in 1994, so the eyepatch his character wears in the movie was because his right eye was still leaking fluids. Togashi drew him without the eyepatch.

With excitement not matching the defeat she had witnessed, Alear stepped inside the medical tent. Although she had already seen his fall on the 'battlefield' mismatched eyes had their sights set on a Fell Dragon, a visit to cheer on him despite no longer taking place in the competition.

"Rafal!" Divinity chirped as she cut their distance short. From a distance she could only see when a blow landed or seemed to, but the bandages on him said enough of the possible ache they caused.

Still, she wasn't here to remind him of bruises gained.

"Seeing you fight was exciting, i couldn't help but cheer for you." She admitted. Although he was a Black Eagle she cheered for him all the same, her house winning would of course be great but she preferred supporting her friends first. Clapping as if to tell she was proud of him, Alear kept on her rambles. "You did great! Next time i'm sure you will win and i will keep on cheering for you."

There was something she wanted to ask him, although it was simple the question was an important one.

"But i'm curious. Did you enjoy yourself?"

The Fell Heir's first showing on this field had been disastrous; an utter debacle in the eyes of anyone to honor it with attention, but particularly to Rafal himself. He brooded and paced, repelling the healers with or without intention, like approaching the dragon were no less than prodding a panther impounded in a cage. Dark eyes fended off every individual save for the impervious Divine One, proven time and time again to care little for the appearances Rafal put on display. Or, in this case, truly meant.

A sharp heel turned on her, his expression remaining sour but lightening - a fact only barely perceptible. "Spare me the pleasantries, Divine One, there is no need to coat your words. This day has not seen me even remotely at my best." After all, for her brother's absence Nel would now face her opponents alone. She would advance to the higher tiers of this competition without him.

There was nothing so noteworthy about his comparative tenure out in the medical tents, in these chaste civilian hubs barren of conflict and glory. By such a turn of events he had honored neither his twin nor himself, marking the outcome unsatisfactory on two fronts. Even so, Rafal knew he could burn brighter; Rafal could show himself stronger; he was capable of more.

One hand solidified into a fist before his swollen face, a bruised and battered countenance somewhat paled of its usual intimidating mien; the menacing baritone, however, was all but perfectly preserved. "Next time, I will excise any trace of this year's failure. Anyone who stands as my foe shall be crushed without mercy."

Lost in his triumphal thoughts of conviction and blood lust and yearning, her sudden inquiry inserted a pause between them. Did he enjoy it? What a simple question matched with an even simpler answer. Others may attempt to paint over their process of thought with delusions, finding value in valueless things through puerile veneers that dressed up reality; those spelling false enjoyment in defeat on the basis of teamwork and bonds forged.

Rafal in reflection over his various injuries spoke his opinion in an instant. "Are you out of your mind? No," he deadpanned immediately. In one stead, the return of his brutal honesty; in another, he was not Griss.

Well. This is a delusion that has been Existing and Waiting less and less politely for some 10+ months now, so I guess it was to be expected that he would get his way sooner or later.

Mauvier is a bit of an experiment for me to be honest, but I love him and sincerely hope that he lasts, and that I can do him justice.

I've taken my Mauvier from not long after the events of the main story of Engage, though enough to where I aged him up by a year. When the Divine One, Lady Veyle and many other allies embarked on a journey to Fódlan, he stayed behind for a time to assist with some of the reconstruction, but he had always intended to follow Lady Veyle once things stabilized, and finally made the journey himself as well.

My Mauvier is taken from the main timeline and was not present during the events of Fell Xenelogue. However, Soji and I have agreed to write with the assumption that his support chain with Rafal has taken place, and as such he has some knowledge of what happened.

Regarding wanted plots, in all honesty I do not want to take up too much from the mission board. Mauvier would like a Blue Lion partner for the Any Skill +1 mission, but other than that, well...

A Reminder re. Activity

We've been receiving a lot of requests or reserves for second or third muses lately, many of which we've had to turn down. Per TOA rules: " When taking on an additional muse, the mun should also have demonstrated strong levels of activity well past the minimum on existing muses, as well as high engagement with the rest of the group. As a general rule of thumb, over a three month span we expect 6 thread replies a month on one muse if applying for a second muse, and 9 thread replies a month across two muses if applying for a third muse. " The above should be carefully considered so as to avoid disappointment when applying for another muse. If you've a history of poor activity upon being granted an additional muse, requirements may be even more stringent. The key is consistent, continued activity.

Fascinating as it was to learn that some other occupants of Garreg Mach possessed seemingly similar transformation abilities to Nel's, the foremost thought that occupies Yuri's mind is of Abyss. They may share the understanding to not transform within the confines of the underground labyrinth, but Gronder's sprawling fields held no such threat of a ceiling collapsing upon them.

But they press only that and nothing more on the matter. An exhale, then an easy smile is twisting upon their lips. Yuri is not here to sling accusations, only to ensure no untoward attention ends up directed toward Abyss. “How'd you do? This was your first Battle of the Eagle and Lion, I assume.”

Part of them itches at the thought that they might have fought— and that young, boyish part of their mind is almost disappointed that they hadn't. Half the fun of the mock battle in their time had been facing off against their classmates in a friendly spar, but Yuri can hardly claim to call most here as familiar, never mind acquaintances, and certainly not friends.

a fell dragon's senses are not often circumvented, but the velveteen tones of her current dwelling's foremost resident is the only indication of the mockingbird's approach. for that, though it does not show on her face as she turns, she must commend them.

' a dragon or two ' — the phrasing brings to mind herself and rafal. but theirs are not the only likely culprits who had taken part today; the sport seemed like one the divine dragon would have some interest in, and nel was no longer unaware that she was hardly the only one of similar lineage within the academy's halls, not so homogeneous as the officials would make it seem. "mm. i wonder how you heard, though the rumors are unlikely to refer to me. i did not transform."

in fact, the thought had never once crossed her mind. was this not intended to be a fair contest? the possibility that another dragon had resorted to their natural advantage was one she could not help but question.

arms fold easily across her chest as the questions take an amicable turn, hand to either elbow with her weight resting in one cocked hip. "i was bested in the first round," she replies simply, without passion. "the enemy strategy was not dissimilar to mine, and their coordination stronger than our own." she and goldmary had held their remaining ground well, but they had been left hardpressed to find an opening with which to seize the slightest advantage.

nevertheless, it is the suggestion of a smile that lightens her stony features then; it is always heartening to see how the little ones grow and wane, and the exercise had proved unexpectedly useful and appropriately rigorous.

but attention returns serenely to her questioner, whose unexpected appearance turns her thoughts to intention. yuri gives the impression of one whose lavender wings did not take roost without reason. "but i presume you were not looking for me just to inquire about the tournament."

In your opinion of the Fell kids were to go in Garrech March which House would they join ? (note : must include both Alear, they are a set)

The Alears would join the Blue Lions and Golden Deer respectively, Veyle would join the Deer as well.

Meanwhile Nel and Rafal (bundled together, do not separate) would join the Black Eagles only to bail tf out when Edelgard does her, ahem, thing.

— I joined TOA during the peak of Covid quarantining in 2020 when there was a huge convention dry spell. The indie roleplay scene for Fire Emblem during this time was uneventful too. Having no productive outlet for cosplaying or writing, it lead me to join my first RP group which was (jazz hands) TOA

— I have hundreds upon hundreds of hours clocked on Super Smash Bros from Brawl to Ultimate. You'll never guess who I main.

What non-Fire Emblem games do you play? Final Fantasy XIV, Project Zomboid, Phasmophobia, Touken Ranbu, and Stardew Valley in order of frequency.

Favorite Pokemon type & Pokemon: I like bug types; my favorite Pokemon is Scizor. While not Pokemon my favorite Digimon, Kabuterimon, is also a bug. Honorable mention goes to Greninja.

How did you get into Fire Emblem? Saw Shadow Dragon in my local Gamestop one day and didn't buy it even though it stuck out to me with its somber and less colorful boxart. Next time I saw a Fire Emblem game in the store, i.e., Awakening, I bought and played it. The rest is history.

What Fire Emblem games have you played? If we're talking start-to-end I've played and finished FE1, FE3, FE7, FE9, FE11, FE12, Awakening, SOV, 3H, and Engage. The remaining games in the series I've played to either early or mid game.

Any Fire Emblem crushes? FE7 Rath was my first and only concrete FE crush. Marth was initially more of an aesthetic source of admiration though knowing his character better he likely exemplifies the ideal partner. Similar to Marth he's not really a crush, but right now I think a lot about Rafal, ironically less in the realm of looks or perfection and more at his attractive hot-and-cold personality.

Current TOA muses: Marth and Rafal

Who was your first TOA muse? If you don’t have them anymore, could you see yourself picking them up again? Marth is my ride or die Fire Emblem character and that extends to him as a muse.

Have you had any other TOA muses? Besides Marth and Rafal I've also written Xane. Though there isn't a lot of data, my second muse slot historically (and presently) being reserved for dragons tickles me a lot.

Do you think you have a type of character you gravitate towards? Not really. My tastes are unexplainably versatile. I can favor the sweet and friendly golden boy type characters, or the less pristine and morally ambiguous "bad boy" types, and everything in-between. This isn't just true for TOA but also for characters from different series. My friends have a lot of trouble forecasting possible favorites for me because of it.

What do you believe you enjoy writing the most? Emotions. Conflict with those emotions. Mwahahahaha

Favorite TOA-related memory: The first few months into my TOA debut when everything was bright, fresh, and new. Meeting new friends and forging bonds with other characters was super fun and I still remember who was around me during that time. Farina (written by Maxie) is the closest muse to Marth in terms of when they joined TOA and who has stayed to this day.

Got any delusions that didn’t see the light of day in TOA that you’d like to share? I tend to be very stable, loyal, and proactive in my delusions. If they're strong enough I pursue them, like Xane and Rafal. Rath would be among them if I ever replayed FE7 and if I determined having three muses wouldn't make my performance suffer over all.

Sophie clutched her arms, her skin crawling with the sickening realization: "All this… Kingdoms ransacked and pillaged, people slaughtered—my friends hurt and killed! And it was all for… for—"

"For love," the Snake said softly.

A horrified laugh burbled out before she could stop it. "Love? What would you know about love?" she spat. "Your brother told me everything. Drove your mother away, did you? I can't say I'm surprised. Only a murderer with just as rotten and sadistic of a soul could 'love' a monster like you—and that's to say you even have a soul at all!" The Snake rose from his seat, but she stamped out her flash of fear. "I'm sorry, did that strike a nerve?" she taunted, fighting down burning bile. "Go ahead. Kill me. At least that creep won't get to live again."

For a moment, they were at an impasse, eyes locked and jaws tense and shoulders rigid. Sophie's chest heaved in angry, shuddering bursts, but the Snake remained as glacial as ice. She watched for any hint of movement, bracing for a sudden attack…

"What makes you think you're any better than me?" he asked instead.

Sophie froze. "Excuse me?"

The Snake shook his head, hands settling on the teapot. "During your First Year you terrorized and attempted to kill the entire School for Good, you did kill all of the wolves and fairies, tried to seize the power of the Storian to serve your own gain—" he narrowed a glance at her as he smoothly poured two cups— "now doesn't that sound familiar. But shall I go on to the wars you started? Shall I mention Rafal?"

Sophie colored scarlet, whether out of fury or terror or shame, she had no clue. "But I've—"

"Changed?" The Snake scoffed loud enough to make her jump. For a moment, she expected him to whirl back to her furious, teeth gnarled and scims sharpened to points—but his shoulders sagged and a long-held weariness crept into his bones… In a blink it seemed as though the Snake was gone, and in the monster's place stood just a boy.

"There's no changing Evil like us. We'll never be satisfied alone. Not until we find love as brutal and selfish as our own." He sighed, as if he knew exactly how hard it was to try. "But you know that already."

Sophie watched him, pulled uneasily closer as he settled the teacups on their saucers. His body seemed to shrink into itself, much more cautious than the confident villain Tedros had fought. Was it a trick of the light, or had his face changed as well? Gone was the hard, cold glare, replaced by unfocused, dark and sunken eyes. It was getting harder to see him as Rhian's copy, two sides of the same manipulative coin. She had very nearly been swayed by the Lion. How did she know this wasn't some kind of trick as well?

"It's why you were drawn to my brother," he continued, "and Rafal, and Tedros before him. All your life, looking for the one person who'd complete you, who would love you despite every foul thing your soul was tainted with. But here you are again. With no one."

"I have Agatha," Sophie insisted weakly.

He met her gaze. "And I had Aric, once."

There was a force behind his eyes, a simmering fire that made her own eyes water and sting. Conviction and rage that had been tamped down to resignation, a person just like her who'd tried so hard to be Good, only to fail over and over and…

Japeth gestured at the chair opposing him.

Sophie took it.
