Cada vez que un artista graba un álbum, acaba acumulando más material de lo que puede incluirse en él mismo. Canciones que, por una u otra razón, no llegan a incluirse en la versión final del disco. La gente los llama todo tipo de cosas: “Bonus Tracks”, “Non-LP”, “B-Sides”, “Extras”. Puedes llamarlas como quieras, estas canciones nunca se relegan deliberadamente al basurero de la historia del artista de turno. Independientemente de lo que suceda a lo largo del proceso de creación de un disco, la música que queda fuera de de la sala de montaje se hizo con el mismo cuidado, emoción, dedicación y compromiso que el material que se encuentra en el master original. ¡Estas canciones no merecen ser olvidadas!

Ladies and gentlemen les presentamos "Hits and Misses: The Singles", una nueva colección de ese venerado compositor y guardián de la esencia de las músicas también denominadas Soul, Rhythm and Blues y Americana: Eli Paperboy Reed. Hoy el artista ha anunciado que su nuevo disco estará disponible el próximo 20 de octubre. Pese a su juventud cuenta con un extenso bagaje que abarca ocho álbumes en una carrera que se extiende cerca de dos décadas desde su más tierna adolescencia. Estos bonus tracks fácilmente podrían ser los singles de éxito de otro. Desde versiones genuinamente reinventadas que abarcan todos los géneros hasta sus propios originales para bailar o llorar de emoción. No son sobras.

"Hits and Misses" recopila canciones que, en su mayor parte solo estaban disponibles en sencillos de 45 rpm a la venta en la mesa de merchandising durante las giras internacionales de Reed. Alma Chapter 24. The Stations Continue. Part 8: "The Drivel of Dreams."

Continuing our discussion of Missionaries, we learn the Decrees along with banning weapons and anti-Semitism are the hallmarks of a civilized people. Moses didn't know these issues were going to crop up on us, and so now the Midrash, which includes the Book of Mormon concludes we must add them to the Mitzvot, the steps every person must follow to the doorway of Civil Society. Missionaries are responsible for communicating these new precepts along with the old.

How well will it work? We don't know, not yet:

Verb חלם (halam II) means to dream, and its derived noun חלום (halom) means a dream.

These curious parallels suggests that the Hebrews saw dreaming as something cyclic; see our full dictionary article on these words for a closer look at dreams in the Bible. Also note the similarities in form with the חלל (halal) cluster.

Anti in Hebrew means to exchange. It goes both ways, to exchange the ego for the Spirit of Peace or for the Unholy Spirit of Rage.

=Ammon, the Revealer has a conversation with the Spiritual Advocate, King Lamoni, and the "alternatives" in order to respond to the wiles of the Spirit of Anger.

They decide not to take up arms, which is good since that is what the Book of Mormon said not to do, solidying an end to the apostate government:

6 Now there was not one soul among all the people who had been converted unto the Lord that would take up arms against their brethren; nay, they would not even make any preparations for war; yea, and also their king commanded them that they should not.

7 Now, these are the words which he said unto the people concerning the matter: I thank my God, my beloved people, that our great God has in goodness sent these our brethren, the Nephites, unto us to preach unto us, and to convince us of the traditions of our wicked fathers.

8 And behold, I thank my great God that he has given us a portion of his Spirit to soften our hearts, that we have opened a correspondence with these brethren, the Nephites.

11 And now behold, my brethren, since it has been all that we could do (as we were the most lost of all mankind) to repent of all our sins and the many murders which we have committed, and to get God to atake them away from our hearts, for it was all we could do to repent sufficiently before God that he would take away our stain—

12 Now, my best beloved brethren, since God hath taken away our stains, and our swords have become bright, then let us stain our swords no more with the blood of our brethren.

13 Behold, I say unto you, Nay, let us retain our swords that they be not stained with the blood of our brethren; for perhaps, if we should stain our swords again they can no more be washed bright through the blood of the Son of our great God, which shall be shed for the atonement of our sins.

14 And the great God has had mercy on us, and made these things known unto us that we might not perish; yea, and he has made these things known unto us beforehand, because he loveth our souls as well as he loveth our children; therefore, in his mercy he doth visit us by his angels, that the plan of salvation might be made known unto us as well as unto future generations.

Let's look at the Gematria for all this washing in the Blood since it makes very little sense in English to a sane person. Blood in judaism is happiness; it belongs in the heart and circulatory system, not in one's underpants laundry basket.

The Gematria returns a value of 12463, יבדו‎ג "Yeved-Og," "The Servants of the Bread Thrown on the Fire."

It means we serve a God who was defeated due to a lack of decency. The belief that God commissioned the world to hammer the Flesh of His Flesh to a cross and abuse it to death is anathema to the purposes of the Divine Being, the Creator and Maker of Life.

Even still:

15 Oh, how merciful is our God! And now behold, since it has been as much as we could do to get our stains taken away from us, and our swords are made bright, let us hide them away that they may be kept bright, as a testimony to our God at the last day, or at the day that we shall be brought to stand before him to be judged, that we have not stained our swords in the blood of our brethren since he imparted his word unto us and has made us clean thereby.

19 And thus we see that, when these Lamanites were brought to believe and to know the truth, they were firm, and would suffer even unto death rather than commit sin; and thus we see that they buried their weapons of peace, or they buried the weapons of war, for peace.

20 And it came to pass that their brethren, the Lamanites, made preparations for war, and came up to the land of Nephi for the purpose of destroying the king, and to place another in his stead, and also of destroying the people of Anti-Nephi-Lehi out of the land.

21 Now when the people saw that they were coming against them they went out to meet them, and prostrated themselves before them to the earth, and began to call on the name of the Lord; and thus they were in this attitude when the Lamanites began to fall upon them, and began to slay them with the sword.

22 And thus without meeting any resistance, they did slay a thousand and five of them; and we know that they are blessed, for they have gone to dwell with their God.

The Sword is a weapon of transition, in or out of Eden. It is associated with the Archangel Michael and the pivotal question, "Who is God, and who the hell are you?"

24 Now when the Lamanites saw this they did forbear from slaying them; and there were many whose hearts had swollen in them for those of their brethren who had fallen under the sword, for they repented of the things which they had done.

25 And it came to pass that they threw down their weapons of war, and they would not take them again, for they were stung for the murders which they had committed; and they came down even as their brethren, relying upon the mercies of those whose arms were lifted to slay them.

26 And it came to pass that the people of God were joined that day by more than the number who had been slain; and those who had been slain were righteous people, therefore we have no reason to doubt but what they were saved.

27 And there was not a wicked man slain among them; but there were more than a thousand brought to the knowledge of the truth; thus we see that the Lord worketh in many ways to the salvation of his people.

28 Now the greatest number of those of the Lamanites who slew so many of their brethren were Amalekites and Amulonites, the greatest number of whom were after the order of the Nehors "hearts of the fire of anger"

29 Now, among those who joined the people of the Lord, there were none who were Amalekites or Amulonites, or who were of the order of Nehor, but they were actual descendants of Laman and Lemuel.

Lemuel= "drivel of dreams".

Lemuel (Hebrew: לְמוּאֵל Ləmū’ēl, "to him, El") is the name of a biblical king mentioned in Proverbs 31:1 and 4, but whose identity remains uncertain.[1] Speculation exists and proposes that Lemuel should be identified with Solomon or Hezekiah,[2] while others think he may be a king of Massa.[3]

חלם I

The verb חלם (halam I) means to be healthy or strong. It occurs a mere two times: the young of mountain goats and deer grow strong (Job 39:4) and Hezekiah implored YHWH to restore him to health (Isaiah 38:16). This verb has no derivatives other than perhaps the name Helem.

חלם II

The verb חלם (halam II) means to dream, and scholars attest that in Arabic it's linked to the former verb in that a pubescent boy's wet dream demonstrates his growing stronger. This verb's sole affirmed derivation is the masculine noun חלום (halom), meaning dream. There is also a feminine noun חלמות (hallamut), which looks like a plural of a noun derived from חלם, but its derivation is unclear. This noun occurs only once in the Bible, namely in Job 6:6, where it appears to describe some oozing tasteless slime (perhaps a hallucinant plant? Most translations have "white of an egg" but it doesn't mean that. The Young translation speaks of the "drivel of dreams").

30 And thus we can plainly discern, that after a people have been once enlightened by the Spirit of God, and have had great knowledge of things pertaining to righteousness, and then have fallen away into sin and transgression, they become more hardened, and thus their state becomes worse than though they had never known these things.

We here in the United States of America do need to grow up and follow the Spirit of God out of this dark age our shcrewed up leaders have been permitted to overcast our lives with.

It would be so easy to find talented people to lead us and elect them to office especially since the ones we have are all pedophiles and cheaters, easily arrested and put to death. We should not hesitate to do this and change our ways for good.

And most normal people can process how "love your neighbor as you love yourself, upon these words all the sayings of the prophets hang" does not mean hammer someone to a cross and do a little Mormon skippy dance.

It's batshit. Letting people like that bully the rest of us.

I awoke in the desert on Easter morning. Through the window of my tent, I could see branches of a pinion pine, the sharp tines of a yucca, and beyond them soft, rolling sandstone — in full daylight the color of oatmeal, but glowing golden now with first light. The birds were up, rejoicing, flitting to and fro in the pinion, but, thanks be to God, not another living thing could be seen or heard. I had awakened on my fifth morning in Arches National Park, hidden near the northeast corner of Utah, but it could have been Palestine around ad 33. This desert is not a wasteland, as many people wrongly picture when they hear the word, but a vibrant place full of grasses, cacti, juniper, and pinion, and wildflowers scattered across the landscape, a place where you can find puma prints in the soft, wet sand down in the canyons, where springs nearly reach the surface. A place of life in many ways.

It was cold enough to see my breath when I stepped out of the tent, so I cranked the Coleman stove to set water boiling for coffee and cocoa before I roused the boys, cocooned head-and-all down in their sleeping bags. Savoring moments that were mine alone, I climbed to the top of the rocks behind our camp to drink in the vast beauty of the desert at dawn. To the west, gigantic mesas, Navajo sandstone, rose like ancient fortresses from the desert floor, their sheer red cliffs radiating back the rays that had not reached the sands at their feet.

I turned to the east to take the glad warmth of the new day head-on, surprised to see the La Sal Mountains covered in snow, a hundred miles away. My heart was at home in this place of wild beauty and staggering vistas. But it was an awkward time to have come. On this resurrection morn, Stasi was in Los Angeles, holding the hand of her dying mother. She would be gone in less than a month. Strange timing to up and go camping. But God brought me here.

Like many pilgrims down through the ages, I discovered my spiritual life in the desert. I found solitude and silence in the Mojave of southern California, far from the numbing sameness and suffocating density of the suburbs that warehouse millions of people. The desert awakened my heart, and I discovered freedom of spirit walking across the arroyos for hours upon end, haunted by stark beauty and the thin veil of heaven there. No wonder Moses, Elijah, and John the Baptist spent their free time in the desert. And though the desert meant so much to me, spoke to my heart, I left it behind many years ago. You know how life pickpockets you of these things, slipping them away so subtly you never even notice they are gone. I simply stopped going.

In the spring of 2001, Stasi was making frequent trips to southern California to be with her mom, whom we were losing to multiple myeloma, and I was doing my best with the boys and the bills back home in Colorado. To be honest, we were simply waiting for “the call,” when we would jump a flight to attend Jane’s funeral. So I did not believe it was God when first I heard him say, Go to Moab. Go to the desert. It took several confirmations to get my attention. At a coffeehouse I ran into a young gal who in the midst of chitchat simply dropped into the conversation that she’d just returned from Moab. I did a sort of double take, then asked calmly, “How was it?” “Great,” she said. “You have to go.” The next day I was on the phone with a pastor from Denver, making plans for a men’s retreat. “I just got back from Moab,” he said, out of the blue. “It was awesome.” I’m simply confessing that I came to the desert borne not on the wings of my own wisdom, but hesitantly, reluctantly, pushed along by God.

Moab. Okay. The boys are missing Mom and the distraction would be good and there’s really nothing more we can do from here anyway except pray, which I might give more devotion to out in the wild, and so we came. I was surprised at the level of warfare I had to fight through. For about five hours of the drive I was forced to bring the work of Christ against an overwhelming oppression that made it hard to concentrate, a really awful veil over my spirit. Over a camping trip? It seemed so stupid. But the thief comes to steal and kill and destroy any movement toward freedom and life. We battled through, got there late, and discovered that God had held the last campsite for us.

I’m not sure I can even put into words all that Jesus restored to me in those five days, but some part of my heart long forgotten was given back, along with some deep words I desperately needed. I came alive in the vast, wild desert. And it began to sink in.

My heart matters to God. My heart has always mattered to Him.

It is one thing to say we believe that; it is another thing to discover it is true. This was a gift unique to my heart, and it could not have been given in any other place. I awoke that Easter morning more alive than I have been in a long, long time.

Treating Your Heart for the Treasure It Is

Above all else, guard your heart. — Proverbs 4:23

We usually hear this with a sense of “keep an eye on that heart of yours,” in the way you’d warn a deputy watching over some dangerous outlaw, or a bad dog the neighbors let run. “Don’t let him out of your sight.” Having so long believed our hearts are evil, we assume the warning is to keep us out of trouble. So we lock up our hearts and throw away the key, and then try to get on with our living. But that isn’t the spirit of the command at all. It doesn’t say guard your heart because it’s criminal; it says guard your heart because it is the wellspring of your life, because it is a treasure, because everything else depends on it. How kind of God to give us this warning, like someone’s entrusting to a friend something precious to him, with the words: “Be careful with this — it means a lot to me.”

Above all else? Good grief — we don’t even do it once in a while. We might as well leave our life savings on the seat of the car with the windows rolled down — we’re that careless with our hearts. “If not for my careless heart,” sang Roy Orbison, and it might be the anthem for our lives. Things would be different. I would be further along. My faith would be much deeper. My relationships so much better. My life would be on the path God meant for me… if not for my careless heart. We live completely backward. “All else” is above our hearts. I’ll wager that caring for your heart isn’t even a category you think in. “Let’s see — I’ve got to get the kids to soccer, the car needs to be dropped off at the shop, and I need to take a couple of hours for my heart this week.” It probably sounds unbiblical.

Seriously, now — what do you do on a daily basis to care for your heart? Okay, that wasn’t fair. How about weekly? Monthly?

Yes, we do have a cultural scrap of this called vacation. Most working-class folks get a week or two off each year, and that is the only time they actually plan to do something that might be good for their souls. Or they squander the scrap on some place like Miami, as a poor man spends his last dollar on a lottery ticket. And you know how it goes when you get back. The attitude among your family, friends, and colleagues is usually something like, “Great! You’re back! Hope you had a good time ’cause, boy, everything fell apart while you were gone and we’re expecting — now that you’re rested up — that you’ll really put your nose to the grindstone.” Whatever that week gave you is devoured in a matter of moments or days.

But God intends that we treat our hearts as the treasures of the kingdom, ransomed at tremendous cost, as if they really do matter, and matter deeply.
