Jaguar XJR-S V12 “Monaco” (by PBB Desing).

This is the Jaguar XJR-S V12 “Monaco” by the team at PBB Design based out of Bristol in England. It’s believed that just 12 of them were made – today they remain a rare and highly desirable version of the high-performance XJS. The Jaguar XJR-S was released in 1988 as the new top-of-the-line version of the XJS from Jaguar. It was fitted with the HE V12 engine that had been developed by JaguarSport, an entity owned 50/50 by Jaguar and TWR Group (Tom Walkinshaw Racing).The XJR-S was fitted with a widebody kit, uprated suspension and brakes, wider wheels and tires, and upgraded interiors, however most people’s attention was focused on what was under the hood. The JaguarSport HE V12 incorporated a slew of improvements over the stock engine and produced 318 bhp as a result.In late 1989 the engine was further upgraded and the displacement increased from 5,344 cc to 5,993 cc (6.0 liters). It was fitted with a Zytek fuel-injection and engine management system, a modified air intake system, a forged steel crankshaft, forged alloy pistons, and it had a compression ratio of 11.0:1.This newer V12 was capable of 328 bhp at 5,250 rpm and 365 lb ft of torque at 3,650 rpm, putting it up near the top of the class in the luxury sporting GT genre in the early 1990s.

PBB Design was founded by Paul Bailey in Bristol, England. Bailey had formerly worked in the aerospace industry before moving to Bristol-based Glenfrome Engineering, a company that build special versions of the Range Rover including longer wheelbase versions and a futuristic version called the Facet. In the 1980s Glenfrome experimented with a long wheelbase version of the XJS, this is where Bailey had worked on the car for the first time, and where the kernel of the idea that would become the Monaco would form.

Bailey drew his own plans for the XJS, being very careful to keep his design drawings true to the exact scale of the Jaguar so that they could realistically be applied to the car.

Glenfrome would be dissolved in 1986 however Bailey knew he was onto something with his new design for the XJS, so he formed PBB Design (Paul Bailey Bristol) in 1987 and set to work. He originally looked into creating new steel body panels for the Monaco but eventually settled on fiberglass due to the low weight.

The original body needed to be significantly modified with the front and rear wheel arches cut back allowing for wider wheels and tires, and the headlight section needed to be cut away.

The fiberglass panels, or body kit, was then bonded over the top – the result was a much wider car that looked more like the earlier D-Type and E-Type family than the XJS ever did. A set of 17 inch Compomotive split rims were then fitted along with suitably wide high-performance rubber, the suspension was rebuilt, the brakes were uprated, and clients had a choice of interior upgrades.

Under the hood the original XJR-S engine was considered amply powerful by some, those who wanted more power could opt for one of the fire-breathing Rob Beere Engineering-developed 7.3 liter version of the Jaguar V12.

Due to the high cost just 12 examples of the PBB Design Monaco were ever made, one of which was ordered by the Sultan of Brunei, and they attracted much attention from Jaguar circles when they rarely come up for public sale.

ITEM: Ping

The Ping is a small satellite dating from the early mesostellar era, used for hyperlight communications. This technology emerged between the development of dimensional warp-based ships and the Permanent Boson Bridge (PBB), a time when matter could travel at hyperlight speeds but energy retained its classical speed limit.

The Ping existed as a permanent anchor, placed in orbit around inhabited worlds, and would receive data from Messenger Shuttles and forward it on to a conventional planetary communications network. A shuttle, containing a high volume of communications data stored on its physical data banks, would relativise nearby to the Ping and transmit the data to it with a high-amplitude microwave burst. While far easier methods of data bussing existed at this time, the microwave method was the only applicable way of avoiding either having to perform a lengthy physical docking manoeuvre, or a likewise lengthy conventional data transmission directly from the shuttle to the planetary communications network. This enabled the shuttle to finish the transmission, receive a ‘reply’ microwave burst from the Ping, and derelativise very quickly, to the locale of another Ping in another system.

Due to the probabilistic nature of early dimensional warping, it was forbidden for any ship to approach within ten kilometres of a Ping, as at any time a shuttle could relativise inside this radius and emit a potentially deadly microwave burst. The shuttles themselves were entirely autonomous and powered by onboard fusile generators, with one Ping managing between two and twenty shuttles. A shuttle’s warp drive was designed for extreme efficiency and so only had to be manually refuelled roughly once every Standard Year.

Pings flourished across early human space and the Ping-Shuttle network was the backbone of the overwhelming majority of civilian communications. The development of the PBB, allowing light to travel faster than light, proved to be the end of the humble Ping. Now, all human space was connected with instantaneous communication, and the days of having to wait for the hourly Ping were history.

I was not academically inclined. Growing up in Michigan in the 1960’s and 1970’s, if you weren’t moving into higher education, you were moving to work on the farm or in the factory. PBB in the feed killed the farmers, and the unions shut down Detroit - everything in the tristate area is premised on Detroit. I graduated high school to nothing but less than minimum wage jobs - if a restaurant makes less than a minimum established profit, they can legally pay less than minimum wage. I graduated at the bottom of my class. I floundered a few years and ended up in the military. I became a Navy Hospital Corpsman and in that, specialized in combat medicine so I served with the Marine Corps. I attended the Naval School of Health Sciences and became an Independent Duty Corpsman. It was a four year medical school program condensed to 56 weeks - accredited by George Washington U. School of Medicine. That program was designed to be a real pressure cooker and had an attrition rate of nearly 30%. Midway through that program, the folks in DC decided to not pay to continue the accreditation. In my class of 27 starters, we had Maurine set the all time high in the history of the school with a perfect score, having never gotten a wrong answer on an exam. We also had Clint who had up to the bitter end, tied Maurine but then got one wrong answer. Me? I graduated dead last in that class with a GPA of 90.63.

Maurine was relieved for cause within three months of graduation. She cracked under pressure. Clint was relieved a little over a year after graduation, hooked on pain killers. During our school year, due to failures in exams and also due to cheating, we were whittled down to 14 and boosted up again to 25. At the end of the first three years of duty, only 5 of us remained as IDC’s.

My final tour had me in line to head up the clinic at Camp David. I refused the orders and was then informed that I’d been asked for by name by the President. Again, I turned down those orders and retired out of Camp Pendleton, where I worked out of three different clinics and was responsible for all of 3d Marine Air Wing.

With the exception of performing surgery and doing the paperwork shuffle, I truly enjoyed practicing medicine without benefit of an actual doctor staring over my shoulder. I did 20 years and then retired. I was delusional in believing that I would be welcomed with open arms at the university where I could take my 146 credit hours mostly in upper level sciences and could step into a civilian program. I was not and instead had to take a basic first aid course where we all learned that I was more qualified than the “doctor” instructing that course. Frustrated by the greed and stupidity, I graduated with a degree in History.

A worthless degree, absolutely no one would hire me. Not the county school system, not the air museum, not a local construction firm. Not any of the big box hardware stores and certainly not any of the four major hospitals or even a company doing insurance physicals. With a wife, 3 children and a mortgage for a 4 bedroom house on 10 acres, I was fast running out of money.

When no one else would hire me, I hired myself. We opened a dog grooming business. We started that business with less than $5,000 in the bank. I was accustom to working 16-18 hour days and that’s about what it took. We busted our butts, my wife and I, and after the 1st 5 years, we were able to be competitive. We shut down every other groomer in the north end of the county and found ourselves under cutting the big box pet stores that also offer grooming at premium prices. Literally, I went from being an elite (less than 1,000 in the entire Navy and Marine Corps) healthcare provider to petting dogs for a living.

With a whole lot of sweat equity, we were able to build our business into a 6 figure income and had to hire outside help to keep pace with the demand. We hire unskilled, untrained labor and we start at $14 an hour. We train, starting with the basic life skill of negotiation. I blame public “education” for the mess this country is in. At best, they teach you to sign your name on the bottom line. They do very little to prepare any of us for the world. They certainly do nothing to prepare us for making responsible, informed decisions of consent.

I own the business meaning, I own outright, the means of production. As an employee, you agree to do a specified job for a given amount of money. These things, you, the employee, agreed to. Now, the beautiful thing about the free labor market as opposed to the left’s slave labor market, is that if at any time you are dissatisfied with the terms of your employment, you have options. You can either step up your game and try to negotiate a better position for yourself. Or, you can serve notice of intent to terminate and then seek your fortune elsewhere.

Personally, given my history with experience in both public and military education, I recommend being a forward thinker. Start by studying fact based history and learn to exercise critical thinking skills. Learn politically who you can rely on as a “friend” and who is in it purely for themselves at your expense - it’s not whom you were told all of your life. Vote accordingly and work to change the education system. At present even those sho graduate at the highest levels of the upper stratosphere, slave for someone above them. Read the last 128 pages of de Tocqueville’s Democracy In America”. Understand that he published this in 1833 when race based slavery was still legal.

Favourite Album: i think landmark is just always going to be a part of my life forever and ever to be honest with you. it's the album that got me into hippo campus and the summer a few years ago now that it was the only album i listened to for 3 months was the lowest place i've ever been in and i think this music + walking aimless and flat broke in a city i had literally run away to on a manic whim for hours because i worked all the time but never made enough money to do anything there + listening to landmark on total flat out loop until i heard the music even when i wasn't listening to anything - is something i don't think i will ever be able to forget. those 3 months were...not ideal? but this one album has attached to it every single small shred of a good thing, a good feeling, a good meal, relief from sitting down after a 12 hour restaurant shift, sunset in the best autumn weather i've ever experienced, riding a bus that wasn't for school for the first time, my first taste of a real, actual city life, boardwalk wandering, the laughter however rare and even the month i spent in the hospital; which, mind you, was easily the best month of the whole three of them. really good album. lp3 is really bomb too :)

Vaudeville -- aw hey apparently i have vaudeville relatives on my mom's side that's fun. this song does sort of slow down but again the pace is very intentional / consistent still. almost like a heart beat! i don't know how to word it but there's some kind of specific Thing that gish is doing with the music overall that is very funky and i enjoy it very much. the words and phrases and curses placed so Casually throughout the music is very harsh in a very good way. like a scrape at a waterpark. or rope burn on a tire swing.

Friday Night Placebo -- i've been eyeing the title of this song this whole time... it definitely is starting to slow down, but again it's like the entire album is on a curve. okay it ramps up and then down. i also feel like it's possible the album is weaving a specific story but i can't read the lyrics while i type this so i struggle to hear all the words (#hohW) but i do love just this feeling. very hazy? is that the word? i'm trying to find this word that encompasses this feeling. it's not hazy, it's not juvenile. what is the word! sorry i kept getting called by a telemarketer during this song but tbh that added i think to the intended emotion overall. maybe. it feels very ... not rugged. what is the word. oh the song's over--

Hexagons and Other Fun Materials -- funky groovy ass bass line. hell yes. also i love shapes please explain math and shapes to me. oh no i relate to this song already oh g-d oh fuck fuck oh no. fuck. well. what a fun little story about wanting to find something to excel in so that you will seem in some way meshed with those around you, but you are not able to force yourself into it. okay. there's voices in this one but i relate so deeply to the song itself in a way that is a little shocking for some reason that actually i don't even care. i might even Like those voices being there. oh my g-d i need to call my therapist. sorry. hesus christ.

Cokesbury -- back down to the dampened tone... you know those hoodies? with the - like - wool, i think, or maybe hemp...? thick knit and super super rough textured, with the slow diamond patterns. you can get them in stoner shops a lot i think. that's what this sounds like. it smells like incense and a super dark, barely lit, cramped souveneir shop in a college town (not a college city. college Town.) there's like one employee who leans against the cashier counter and ignores you as long as they possibly can (as they should). this album is probably the type of music that would play on those shitty little sony speakers hung up way too far apart in each corner of the store and played at too low a volume to actual build into a song you can hear properly. it's great.

It's Afternoon, I'm Feeling Sick -- this album came out in 2016 which is when-ish i moved across the country to live with my dad i hadn't spoken to in 5+ years out of nowhere and i know this is not true this is a joke here but also i do think if you put this album to a wordless biopic of the last 2 years of high school and first 2 years of my dad having custody of me you would think it had been written for that biopic specifically. good song!

PH Educators Celebrate Performance-Based Bonus

PBB for FY 2021: A Boost for Educators

In a significant development, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has announced that approximately 920,073 personnel in public elementary and secondary schools under the Department of Education (DepEd) will be granted their performance-based bonuses (PBB) for the fiscal year 2021. This commendable initiative follows the release of PHP11.6 billion by the DBM for the distribution of PBB to DepEd's dedicated teaching personnel. A Milestone in PBB Distribution As of September 1, 2023, the DBM disclosed that all 16 of its regional offices (ROs) have released the necessary Special Allotment Release Orders (SAROs) and Notice of Cash Allocations (NCAs) for the fiscal year 2021 PBB designated for school-based personnel within the DepEd.

Determining the FY 2021 PBB

The basis for granting the fiscal year 2021 PBB, as explained by the department, is DepEd's achievements throughout the fiscal year 2021. This distribution of SAROs/NCAs came after meticulous evaluation and validation of updated documents submitted by DepEd between April and August 2023. This soft padded cotton liner is easily removable with Velcro and has a soft comfort-forming elastic, and it's completely machine washable. 'Cause things to happen. Before you put the carrier on, you'll notice the shoulder straps, where they cross they're sewn together so they can't get tangled up and come undone. That's one less thing you have to worry about. These shoulder straps are also padded and backed with an air mesh, making them that much more comfortable. Now, before you put the carrier on, you're gonna want to make sure it's opened up completely all the way. And then you're gonna put the straps over your head and they're gonna be crisscrossed in the back and you'll take these straps and you'll buckle them into the first set of buckles that are gonna be hiding kind of just right here behind the liner. So once you buckle those, so then you can kind of pull this guy up and you'll buckle one buckle. It's like one of these mid buckles, you'll buckle that. And then you take your baby. And this is where you wanna kinda just start feeding one leg through the first opening and get him into the carrier, keeping support on the baby the whole time as you buckle it in. And then you buckle the second one upfront. This is where you can kind of make a few adjustments, making sure you got some support going on. And then buckle this last set up at the top. Just gonna give that upper body and head support if you need it. Now, I'll go ahead and start making a few more adjustments. These are gonna be your ride height, the first set of buckles. So if I loosen these guys up a lot, you'll see how low it gets. You wanna make sure that these are nice and snug and the ride height of the baby is high enough to where you can kiss the baby's head. And again, just to make a few more adjustments here, giving the baby enough back support, so it's not hunched over really bad. You wanna make sure that it's got a lot of support and sitting upright in a nice healthy position. And then adjust the top straps accordingly. And these have locking tabs on 'em. So once you make that adjustment, you can lock it down, ensuring that they're not gonna come slip loose or come out of adjustment. Now, as you just saw, I was able to put the carrier on and make all of the adjustments on my own. And that's because we put all of the buckles and the adjustments in the front of the carrier where you can easily access them.
