Very nice capture of Marc as Burr and Jimmie as Washington. Some head obstruction at the very bottom of the screen in wideshots, but it never takes away. This cast is absolutely Incredible together, Miguel continues to shine as the best hamilton we've ever had, While Marc plays off him and the rest of the cast insanely well. The Boston Globe - April 23, 1967
Mrs. Kelly
Princess Grace's Mother Believes Something’s Very Wrong With Fashion
By MARIAN CHRISTY
Globe Fashion Editor
PHILADELPHIA - She whizzes Into the posh Germantown Cricket Club here 90 minutes late. Her carriage is erect. Her manner stately
It's immediately obvious that she's worth the wait.
Mrs. John B. Kelly is a beautiful woman. When she whips into the club's private dining room for exclusive Globe interview and photographs, there's a flash of electricity. Everyone notices her.
She has a dazzling smile and a personality that scintillates. The stir she causes has nothing absolutely nothing to do with the chic German-made check suit she's wearing. Or the fact that she just happens to be the mother of former actress Grace Kelly, Princess of Monaco.
The lady is a star in her own right.
She's genteel, sparkling, aware, polished.
She may not know it, but she exudes sophistication in a super way. Worldliness has not touched her - although she's surrounded by wealth and prestige. Her values are in perfect perspective. And she doesn't hesitate to lay it on the line.
Mrs. Kelly charges into the interview with a clear statement of her view of fashion:
"I don't contrive to establish a fashion image for myself. Being known as a fashion plate and nothing else is, well, meaningless. Yes, I'm fascinated with clothes. But they're not the catch-all and end-all of my life. I'm much, much more interested in health, and the well-being of people."
What Mrs. Kelly doesn't spell out is the fact that she's an avid backer of Woman's Medical College in Philadelphia. Her interest in medical education for women is intense. She is vice president, board of corporators, of the college, and raises funds with notable zest. And she's a doer. At Spring picnics, she's the one who fries the most hamburgers for the students.
And she's democratic, too. She knows money isn't everything.
“I’m really not very social, you know. I have friends from all walks of life - good friends. I cherish the relationship I have with each and every one."
Then Mrs. Kelly gets down to brass tacks and talks fashion.
She says: "Something's wrong, very wrong, with fashion today. Silly-minded, anti-female designers are dressing women. The result is ugly. Skirts are notoriously short. Those thick, textured stockings are homely. And shoes - they're absolutely brazen. It all looks unladylike and inelegant. Too bad ... women go along with the whole business like a batch of sheep."
On elegance: "It's being above average. Standing out in a crowd. But it's always linked to the element of good taste. You can't go around dressed fadishly or outrageously. People might stare.
"But they won't call you elegant."
On American designers: "They're more middle-of-the-road, more practical than Paris couturiers. New York designers know that American women have busy lives and they can't go to meetings dressed like hobby horses."
On Paris: "This year, Grace came on from a holiday in Switzerland and we went to the Paris fashion houses. First stop was Givenchy. Grace bought - she's in the public eye and must wear couture clothes.
Continuing: "Then we went to the hair-styling salon of Alexandre of Paris. It was mad. They don't have private booths. Just two circular sofas with clients sitting around in pink robes, waiting, waiting, waiting. French women pick up a little gossip and waste a lot of time. And the salon operators are very amusing. They wear mini skirts, lacy stockings and poufy hair. Alexander did Grace himself. And Caroline had her hair cut, too."
More on Paris: "I don't take Paris seriously. It's too expensive. I buy clothes by American designers - Vera Maxwell and Bill Blass are two favorites. Most of all, I like quality and comfort. Everything else is secondary."
Mrs Kelly just returned from a happy holiday at the Monaco Palace.
While she was there, Princess Grace gave a cocktail party prior to the British American Hospital Gala - and invited theatrical personalities including Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, Mr. and Mrs. Alec Guinness, Lillian Gish.
Prince Rainier (Mrs. Kelly calls him "Rainier") was cool at the prospect of meeting Elizabeth Taylor. He made his feelings clear to Princess Grace who soothed his feathers. Then Liz showed up in a sumptuous white ballgown, her hair beautifully coiffed with ribbons.
"The prince was, in a word, 'fascinated'."
Mrs. Kelly has very definite ideas about everything.
She hates to waste time shopping for clothes. So she buys many things at once. She likes one shop in particular, The French Salon in Atlantic City, because the owner accessorizes the costumes and she can buy in one fell swoop. Save hours.
She loves opulent fabrics for evening. Particularly beaded clothes from Italy. And brocades with crusty textures. All her evening clothes are luxurious.
She often designs her own hats.
Grace mailed Mrs. Kelly a beautiful blue-green, hand-loomed fabric from Monaco. Mrs. Kelly had a local dressmaker whip up a coat and dress. Then she took a swatch of the fabric and made her own pillbox.
Princess Grace has just established The Monaco Boutique to sell hand-made things by Monaco's elderly women. When Mrs. Kelly slips into her new costume, she's a walking ad for Monaco.
On Grace: "She's the best dressed in our family. She has to keep up with things because she's always in the limelight. We often tell the story of Grace's real christening into the fashion world.
"On their honeymoon, she and Rainier decided to leave the royal yacht and spend a day or so in Spain. They liked it and stayed longer, despite the fact that Grace kept on showing up in her one suit.
“When she began to draw a crowd, someone from the hotel moaned, 'O, she's wearing THAT again.' Grace is recognized wherever she goes. She must maintain a fashion image."
We say: Mrs. Kelly is a serene woman. This has contributed to her endless beauty and agelessness. She is a woman many could emulate. She is never static she always moves with the wave of life.

“the plaintiff [Hyung Jin] has failed to articulate a secular legal right... over who is the rightful leader of FF.”
“The complaint also alleges that the Family Federation has no articles of organization or written bylaws governing its affairs, as the Family Federation is “governed and operated pursuant to an established and recognized set of practices, procedures, policies and customs,” in which the edicts and instructions by Rev. Moon were “authoritative and required to be followed by all Unification Church entities and organizations.”
“Here, the fact that the plaintiff [Hyung Jin] has failed to articulate a secular legal right implies that he has also failed to articulate how the defendants may have deprived him of that right in the guise of a religious act. While we might not owe deference to a church’s decision whose religious nature was a pretext for its secular purposes, we cannot intervene here to adjudicate what remains an essentially religious question over who the rightful leader of the Family Federation is.”

Burck, Derek L. Shaffer, Jan-Philip Kernisan, Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP, Washington, DC; William G. Laxton, Jr., Jacob M. Roth, David T. Raimer, Jones Day, Washington, DC; Henry W. Asbill, Veena Viswanatha, Buckley LLP, Washington, DC. Appeal from the judgment of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York (Buchwald, J.). UPON DUE CONSIDERATION, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED, ADJUDGED, AND DECREED that the judgment of the district court is MODIFIED and, as modified, AFFIRMED. Plaintiff-Appellant Hyung Jin Moon appeals from a judgment of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York dismissing his lawsuit for lack of subject matter jurisdiction on grounds of ecclesiastical abstention. We assume the parties' familiarity with the underlying facts, the procedural history of the case, and the issues on appeal. We review an abstention decision that implicates subject-matter jurisdiction de novo. See Hartford Courant Co. v. Pellegrino, 380 F.3d 83, 90 (2d Cir. 2004). "Since at least the turn of the century, courts have declined to interfere with ecclesiastical hierarchies, church administration, and appointment of clergy." Rweyemamu v. Cote, 520 F.3d 198, 204-05 (2d Cir. 2008). "First Amendment values are plainly jeopardized when church property litigation is made to turn on the resolution by civil courts of controversies over religious doctrine and practice. . . . [T]he Amendment therefore commands civil courts to decide church property disputes without resolving underlying controversies over religious doctrine." Presbyterian Church in U.S. v. Mary Elizabeth Blue Hull Mem'l Presbyterian Church, 393 U.S. 440, 449 (1969); see also Serbian E. Orthodox Diocese for U.S. of Am. & Can. v. Milivojevich, 426 U.S. 696, 709-10 (1976) (holding that the principle articulated in Presbyterian Church "applies with equal force to church disputes," like the present one, "over church polity and church administration"). Indeed, "where the identity of the governing body or bodies that exercise general authority within a church is a matter of substantial controversy, civil courts are not to make the inquiry into religious law and usage that would be essential to the resolution of the controversy." Md. & Va. Eldership of Churches of God v. Church of God at Sharpsburg, Inc., 396 U.S. 367, 369-70 (1970) (Brennan, J., concurring). Unless otherwise indicated, in quoting cases, all internal quotation marks, alterations, emphases, footnotes, and citations are omitted. At the same time, courts are not precluded from resolving disputes simply because the outcome would have religious implications. For instance, courts may apply "neutral principles of law" for the resolution of disputes involving religious matters, so long as the "neutral principles" allow the court to avoid deciding questions of religious doctrine, polity, and practice. Jones v. Wolf, 443 U.S. 595, 602-04 (1979). Relying on Jones, the plaintiff argues that the ecclesiastical abstention doctrine does not apply because we may rely on neutral principles of corporate, non-profit, agency, property, and gift law to grant him the relief sought. Beginning with the claims for declaratory judgment, we hold that, based on the allegations in the complaint, there are no neutral principles by which we can adjudicate these claims without deciding the religious question of who the rightful successor to the late Rev. Sun Moon is. The complaint alleges that defendant-appellee Family Federation for World Peace and Unification International (the "Family Federation") is a Korean entity, but its precise corporate status is unclear. The complaint also alleges that the Family Federation has no articles of organization or written bylaws governing its affairs, as the Family Federation is "governed and operated pursuant to an established and recognized set of practices, procedures, policies and customs," in which the edicts and instructions by Rev. Moon were "authoritative and required to be followed by all Unification Church entities and organizations." Joint App'x 10. And both the complaint and the plaintiff's briefs are silent as to any Korean law that might govern the organization of the Family Federation in the absence of written documents. On the basis of these allegations, we find no neutral principles of corporate, non-profit, or agency law that would allow us to declare rights and obligations that concern "matter[s] of internal church government, an issue at the core of ecclesiastical affairs," Milivojevich, 426 U.S. at 721, without making a decision "on the basis of religious doctrine or practice," Jones, 443 U.S. at 602. Similarly, we reject the plaintiff's argument that we can rely on neutral principles of property and gift law to grant him the declaratory relief sought. The plaintiff's attempt to recast this case as a property dispute is belied by the complaint, which does not request any relief specific to certain crowns and robes that were given to him as part of his alleged appointment as the leader, and which vaguely refers to other "property and assets" without identifying specific property interests in them. Joint App'x 14, 21, 29-30. As in Milivojevich, which incidentally involved church property, "this case essentially involves not a church property dispute, but a religious dispute the resolution of which under our cases is for ecclesiastical and not civil tribunals." 426 U.S. at 709. For the first time on appeal, the plaintiff argues that the Family Federation should be judicially estopped from arguing for ecclesiastical abstention because it argued against the doctrine in a different litigation. Because this argument was not properly presented before the district court, we do not consider it here. See Broidy Cap. Mgmt. LLC v. Benomar, 944 F.3d 436, 444 n.7 (2d Cir. 2019). Even if we were to consider it, "no action of the parties can confer subject-matter jurisdiction upon a federal court. Thus[,] . . . principles of estoppel do not apply." Ins. Corp. of Ir., Ltd. v. Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinee, 456 U.S. 694, 701-02 (1982). Alternatively, the plaintiff contends that a purported exception to the ecclesiastical abstention doctrine for fraud or collusion should apply. In Milivojevich, the U.S. Supreme Court noted the possibility of an exception for fraud or collusion "when church tribunals act in bad faith for secular purposes." 426 U.S. at 713. But as that phrase suggests, if the exception exists, it would apply where a religious entity engaged in a bad faith attempt to conceal a secular act behind a religious smokescreen. Here, the fact that the plaintiff has failed to articulate a secular legal right implies that he has also failed to articulate how the defendants may have deprived him of that right in the guise of a religious act. While we might not owe deference to a church's decision whose religious nature was a pretext for its secular purposes, we cannot intervene here to adjudicate what remains an essentially religious question over who the rightful leader of the Family Federation is. Other than the claims for defamation for a statement made in April 2015, tortious interference, and violation of New York's whistleblower protection statute, each of the remaining claims depends squarely on the resolution of the plaintiff's core claim that he, not defendant-appellee Hak Ja Han Moon, is the rightful leader of the Family Federation. Accordingly, we lack jurisdiction to adjudicate these remaining claims on ecclesiastical abstention grounds. With respect to the claims for defamation for a statement made in April 2015 and tortious interference, we have a neutral principle to adjudicate them: the statute of limitations. Accordingly, we affirm the district court's dismissal of these claims on the basis that they are time-barred, with the modification that such dismissal be with prejudice. With respect to the claim for violation of New York's whistleblower protection statute, contrary to the district court's dismissal on ecclesiastical abstention grounds, we hold that a small subset of the allegations in support of the claim—specifically, that the plaintiff was "suspended from his role as the International President of Family Federation" for exposing that the Unification Church and Family Federation leaders "were benefitting from excessive salaries and benefits at the expense of the Unification Church and Family Federation," Joint App'x 37-38—can be evaluated without reference to any religious doctrine. Nevertheless, we affirm the district court's dismissal on grounds that the complaint fails to adequately allege what law or adopted policy of the Unification Church and Family Federation these officials violated (or, with particularity, what fraud they have committed) in paying themselves excessive salaries. See N.Y. Not-for-Profit Corp. Law § 715-b(a); see also Fed. R. Civ. P. 9(b). To clarify, on ecclesiastical abstention grounds, we lack jurisdiction to adjudicate the claim for violation of whistleblower protections to the extent that it is based on the succession dispute or other issues of religious practice—for instance, that these officials were acting improperly by "dishonoring the directions and teachings of Rev. Moon to curry favor with Mrs. Moon," that the retaliation consisted of these officials "asking him to go along with Mrs. Moon's exercise of authority," and the like. Joint App'x 37. We do not reach the unsettled issue of whether N.Y. Not-for-Profit Corp. Law § 715-b(a) confers a private right of action. -------- We have considered all of the plaintiff's remaining arguments and have found in them no grounds for reversal. For the reasons above, we MODIFY the judgment of the district court to reflect that the time-barred claims are dismissed with prejudice and all other claims are dismissed without prejudice and AFFIRM the judgment as modified. FOR THE COURT: Catherine O'Hagan Wolfe, Clerk

Sunset Boulevard: More Than Just The Strip
Tumblr media
Several galleries in our hollywoodphotographs.com collection depict sites located on Sunset Boulevard and for good reason: the street tells so many aspects of the Hollywood story - associations with the early film industry, entertainment venues, and key places where residents worked, shopped, and worshipped. Twenty-two miles in length, the winding and heavily trafficked thoroughfare includes portions of a centuries old cattle trail and sections which bridge several subdivisions of Los Angeles as it passes from downtown LA to the Pacific Ocean. The route runs through the neighborhoods of Echo Park, Silverlake, Los Feliz, Hollywood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Holmby Hills, BelAir, Brentwood, and Pacific Palisades. The stretch from Hillhurst Avenue in Los Feliz on the east, to Sierra Drive in West Hollywood, has long been associated with the Golden Age of Hollywood. It’s so iconic, it even has its own movie: Sunset Boulevard, a classic made in 1950, directed by Billy Wilder, starring Gloria Swanson and William Holden.
Tumblr media
Many early motion picture entrepreneurs set up shop along Sunset Boulevard’s eastern portion, one such studio survives at 4401 Sunset (now used by Scientology Media). While DW Griffith’s Intolerance set no longer towers over the intersection at Hillhurst Avenue, the Spanish Colonial Revival Vista Theater at 4473 Sunset (1923, Lewis A. Smith) with its delightful Egyptian interior remains. To the west, the first site of Warner Brothers in Hollywood (now known as Sunset Bronson) at 5800 Sunset still operates, as does the Columbia Studios complex (now called Sunset Gower). Across the street at 6121 Sunset, stands CBS Columbia Square (1938, William Lescaze and ET Heitschmidt, International Style), the brainchild of William Paley and epicenter of his West Coast radio empire. Paley built his complex on the site of the very first studio in Hollywood and a plaque commemorating that history still rests in the front courtyard.
Tumblr media
Two entertainment venues - the Palladium (6215) and the Earl Carroll Theatre (6230) dominate the blocks east of Vine Street. Both are designated Historic Cultural Monuments (as is CBS) and associated with prominent architects and owners. At 6360, the modernist Cinerama Dome (1963, Welton Becket and Associates), was a slightly later addition to the street that continued the development pattern of restaurants, theater, and retail around Vine Street. The intersection of Sunset and Vine played a particularly prominent role in the radio and music industries from the 1930s through the 1960s.
Tumblr media
As Sunset crosses Cahuenga, several institutions –  the Hollywood Athletic Club (6525, Beaux Arts), Blessed Sacrament Church (6657, Spanish Colonial Revival), Crossroads of the World (6671, Robert Derrah, Streamline Moderne), and the Hollywood Reporter (6715, Hollywood Regency) – are just a few examples of early 20th century styles that made Hollywood famous for its architectural and cultural diversity within the community.
Tumblr media
Located at Sunset and Highland, Hollywood High School was founded in 1903; its lovely Streamline campus designed by architects Marsh, Smith, and Powell dates from 1935. One block west, the corner of Sunset and La Brea was once home to the famous Tiny Naylor’s Drive-In. Further west through the historic neighborhoods of Spaulding Square and Sunset Square (designated Historic Preservation Overlay Zones), are the Director’s Guild at 7920, the former locations of Schwab’s Pharmacy at 8024, and the Garden of Allah Hotel at 8150 (soon to be a new development designed by Frank Gehry). The Garden was headquarters for transplanted writers during their stays in Hollywood, including Robert Benchley, Dorothy Parker (of New York Algonquin Hotel fame), and novelist F. Scott Fitzgerald.
Tumblr media
The Chateau Marmont at 8221 (1928, Arnold Weitzman, Norman Style), just west of Crescent Heights, is the gateway to the “Sunset Strip”, the most famous/infamous section of the boulevard. Located in the city of West Hollywood, this part of Sunset was, and still is, a major hub of Los Angeles nightlife, known for its trademark array of colorful billboards. The mile and a half stretch running from Harper Avenue passed Sunset Plaza to the boulevard’s western border with Beverly Hills, is densely populated with trendy boutiques, restaurants, nightclubs and venues that have been social gathering spots of the entertainment industry and its fans for over eight decades.
Tumblr media
Historically outside of the Los Angeles city limits, in an unincorporated area of the county of Los Angeles, these blocks of Sunset were policed by the less vigilant Sheriff’s Department rather than the heavy hand of the LAPD, thus the area was perceived to be more permissive of public behavior. It was illegal to gamble in the city, but legal in the county. This fostered the building of a wilder concentration of nightlife than Los Angeles proper would tolerate in the 1920s. As a consequence, a number of nightclubs and casinos moved in along The Strip, attracting celebrities and other more liberal-minded locals, as the alcohol continued to flow in back rooms during Prohibition.
Tumblr media
Glamour and glitz especially defined The Strip in the 1930s and 40s, as its renowned restaurants and nightclubs became playgrounds for the rich and famous. Movie legends, power brokers and everyone who was anyone danced at such legendary clubs as Ciro’s (8433), Mocambo (8588), and the Trocadero (8610). Some of its more expensive clubs and restaurants were said to be owned by gangsters like Mickey Cohen, earning the Strip a mention in Raymond Chandler’s Philip Marlowe novel The Little Sister. Most were owned by Hollywood insiders, such as Billy Wilkerson (publisher of the Hollywood Reporter) and director Preston Sturges. The publicity machine of the studios required their stars to be visible to the public, so gossip columnists like Hedda Hopper and Louella Parsons were also regularly in attendance to report on the events and star sightings at these high profile venues.
Tumblr media
By the early 1960s, The Strip seemingly lost favor with movie people, but the restaurants, bars and clubs continued to attract out of town visitors and locals. In the mid-60s and 70s, the area became a major hang out for the counterculture and rock music scenes, as well as the epicenter of the Sunset Strip curfew riots in the summer of 1966, which inspired the Buffalo Springfield song For What It’s Worth. Go-Go dancers performed nightly at such hotspots as the Whisky-a-Go-Go (8901), while bands such as The Doors, The Byrds, Frank Zappa, Van Halen, Motley Crue, Guns ’n Roses, and Whitesnake all played at the Roxy (9009), Pandora’s Box, London Fog, Rainbow Bar & Grill (9015), and Viper Room (8852).
Tumblr media
As The Strip became a haven for musical artists in the 1970s and 80s, the Continental Hyatt House (8358), also referred to as the Riot House (now Andaz), became a second home for touring rock bands such as Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, and The Who. Consequently, the hotel became associated with notoriously debaucherous behavior for a time, many of its most outrageous legends later retold in Hollywood movies and TV shows. The Chateau Marmont (8221) and Sunset Tower (at 8358; Leland Bryant, 1931 Art Deco/Streamline Moderne), also share a long history of housing transplant artists during their stays in Hollywood, serving as film sets, and receiving mentions in literature, music, and pop culture.

The Comedy Store (8433), the former site of Ciro’s, gave many comics like Jim Carrey, Sam Kinison, David Letterman, and Jay Leno their starts, while bonafide comedians like Richard Pryor, Whoopi Goldberg, Eddie Murphy, Jerry Seinfeld, and Robin Williams would often try out their new acts in front of crowds.

Tales of Sunset’s history and significance are as long as the boulevard itself. We could easily go on. From the early 1900s to present, Sunset Blvd has been one of Hollywood’s favorite destinations to create, work, play, and shop; the variety of buildings and legends clearly reflect that. Regardless of your actual location, you too can take a trip down Sunset Blvd via hollywoodphotographs.com right now! Please enjoy exploring all the galleries we’ve linked to in this post and be sure to stay tuned for even more in-depth stories of other magnificent Hollywood locations soon to follow.

Trunk Show Catalogue Release | 11/18/17 | Sector 2337
Trunk Show Catalogue Release Trunk Show | Saturday, November 18, 2017 | 7-9pm Sector 2237 (as part of the Chicago Art Book Fair) | 2337 N. Milwaukee Ave. | Chicago, IL
Last we wrote, we promised you a catalogue release "in November." Thankfully we didn’t say which November. In the year since Trunk Show ended a lot has changed. We have, to use the parlance of our form, a pair of truck nuts leading the national cavalcade; the car itself was smashed by a daytime drunk near the intersection of St. Patrick’s Day and Western Pole, which rendered it totaled which means worth less alive than dead, even if it’s still living; our inexorable march toward unapologetic apoplectic apocalypse hastened; the car "became" WBEZ programming; summer was beautiful in a "last night on earth" kind of way; as the car was towed away, the driver, noting the crestfallen former gallerists in the street, stopped a block away to call us back for a final goodbye and to take the license plates; Sunday painters started painting protest signs and people brought their fitbits into the streets; we moved in and out of other projects and spent even more time on the bus; we thought of you and started putting this book together. We’ve always been DIY, so when the time came to celebrate the project, well, here we all are.
Trunk Show, the car, ran for eighteen great years, Trunk Show, the gallery, for three of those. From September 2013 to October 2016, we hosted 36 artists and groups on and around our medium beat-up forest green 1999 Ford Taurus. Loosely taking the form of the tailgate party as our model for openings, each show, its press release, its paratextual offerings, its location in the world and the sticker’s location on the car, music and refreshments were all taken into consideration as creative and critical sites, responding as necessary to the ideas of the sticker and their artists.
The gallery had a small but committed group of fans and friends who braved even our least hospitable openings. We were even lucky enough to be welcomed into the just-outside-of some of our most favorite art spaces, and welcomed ourselves into just as many favorite parking lots and street corners. The rich history of alternative exhibition spaces and publishing projects, and Chicago’s particular affinity for them, had an indisputable influence on our thinking and doing. Trunk Show was a moving target, flitting between various fields while resolutely grounded; as one critic would have noted, "Trunk Show sits at the intersection of experimental exhibitionism, car culture and lived poetic practice. Its drive was to steer headlong into conventions as a way of challenging them." Beyond that, as another historian might have written, "the project challenged its invited artists to think outside of their practices, to make a kind of public art that was simultaneously formally accessible and excessively informal—an inside joke that lived outside." Another pithily intoned speculatively, "it was public art camouflaged in civvies, street art for the blooper reel of the American empire, moving images and haute culture for less than your lunch."
We’re delighted to be sharing this publication with you, the world. Your friend Aaron Walker has done a bang up job designing it, writers Dana Bassett and Anthony Stepter have penned thoughtful essays, Dan Miller and Davi Lakind have let us in on an elucidating conversation and a half-dozen anonymous and/or famous friends have offered testimonials. We’ve bound up press releases, ephemera, texts from the project, images and offered them in a stylized manual which comes with a poster that you can affix to your wall or bumper.  We've even re-printed a few of your old favorites.
If we believe that one of the great agencies of artist-run projects is the choice of when and how to sunset them, this is a photograph of that sunset and the drinks on the beach afterward, swapping stories and disagreeing to agree that it may have been better in person. It’s also as good a time as any to remind you that many of our stickers are just sitting there waiting to sell out. If you can’t make it, the book will be on the website next week or you can email us to reserve a copy.
ABOUT TRUNK SHOW
TRUNK SHOW was a gallery from 2013 to 2016. Each month, artists were commissioned to design limited edition bumper stickers which lived, rode along with and helped propel a medium beat-up forest green Ford Taurus owned by Raven Falquez Munsell and Jesse Malmed.  Stickers were available online, from the trunk and by subscription. In addition to hosting three dozen exhibitions*, Trunky performed (at Chicago Artists’ Coalition), eulogized (the ACRE Van) and produced a voluminous archive of poetry. Its work was discussed in PBS’ The Art Assignment, Newcity, Hyperallergic, The Chicago Reader, The Chicago Tribune, F News and Yelp and seen in art spaces, private collections and traffic.
