#Reformation21
by Rosaria Butterfield | A civil war erupted within broad evangelicalism, and the idol of LGBTQ+ is dividing the house. This issue is personal, political, and spiritual for me.  In 1998, I became one of the first crop of so-called “tenured radicals” in American universities, proudly touting my lesbian street cred. In 1999, Christ called me to repentance and belief, and I became a despised defector of the LGBTQ+ movement...

Justification and Imputation
by Persis Lorenti
On October 31, 2017, many Christians celebrated the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation. My church held a service where several pastors spoke on the theological importance of this historical event, namely the recovery of the doctrine of justification by faith alone through grace alone in Christ alone for God’s glory alone. This indeed is a wonderful truth that is the…

OPEN AIR PREACHING: NEW ORLEANS SAINTS
Tumblr media
Above is Richard Kellar preaching Words of life to New Orleans Saints fans on Sunday, October 29th. Richard is a faithful brother who minsters around New Orleans. Here’s he is simply proclaiming the Gospel as the fans pass. ‘Some sow, some water, but God gives the increase’.The Bible tells us that the Word is sown into the souls of man. This means you ave two dynamics at work: the Word or Seed and the soul. Matthew 13 gives an extended explanation of this interaction (Matthew 13:1-30). The Word contains life and if it is received into the soul then their is a new birth (1 Peter 1:23).Does the farmer who sows his natural seed look for an immediate crop when his seed goes into the ground?  No. Does the farmer anticipate the seed coming out of the ground slowly and over time does it come to the place to be harvested?  Yes.The same with the evangelist: he is to sow and water the seed and if he is faithful the seed will come out of the ground at some level.  Of course in the Matthew 13 parable Jesus explains the 4 types of ground.  Thus the level of the maturity of the seed appears to be in part based on the gourd into which it was sown.Either way, the evangelist’s job continues to be to sow and water the Word which is what Richard is doing in the picture above.Tags: #1517thelegacyproject #adoption #aker amps #AnglicanConnection #ArchbishopThomasCranmer #be reconciled#BishopDanMorse #CrossofChrist #Dr.MichaelMilton #eternalChrist #getsaved #grace #GreatCommission#greatGodandSavior #hell #HighPriest #Isaac #Jacob #Jerusalem #JesusChristisLord #JohntheBaptist #judgement#justificationbyfaith #LambofGod #MartinLuther #Moses #newbirth #newheavensandnewearth #OpenAirPreaching#pontiuspilate #reconciliation #ReformedEpiscopalChurch #regeneration #resurrrection #Rev.AlBaker #Rev.JohnMason#sanctificationbyfaith #wrath Abraham Anglican believe Christianity Devotionals faith Lutheran missions PCAPEF preaching Presbyterian PresbyterianEvangelisticFellowship reformation Reformation21 repentance salvation sinsportsfanoutreach

Singing Theology in Monotone
Singing Theology in Monotone
Over at Reformation21 I have a post on the importance of the authority of the Scriptures for Martin Luther and the consequential importance of their availability to human. Luther went to great pains to get the biblical translations into as many hands as possible, even when it meant offending his own literary and humanistic sensibilities. In the years 1518–1519, the Leipzig Debates were called and…

by Barry Waugh | Esther is great literature, but it is more: It is God’s revelation of historical events directed for a redemptive purpose, namely preserving the Jews to maintain the seed line for the coming Messiah. For some, Esther is good literature providing a good story; for Christians, it not only has literary value, but more importantly it is historical and God’s infallible Word...

Justification and the Old Perspective
Justification and the Old Perspective
by Jeffrey Stivason
Charles Spurgeon’s famous quip goes something like this, “I love to proclaim these strong old doctrines, that are called by nickname Calvinism, but which are surely and verily the revealed truth of God as it is in Christ Jesus.” We might say something similar about justification. We may describe it as the Reformed perspective or Protestant perspective on justification but it…

An Open Letter to Reformation21 on the Dismissal of Aimee Byrd
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This blog is not usually a place for commentary on the niche events and concerns within the Christian bubble: it’s politics, scandals, and squabbles. However, today I wanted to post an email I wrote to Reformation21, a media outlet for those, like me, in the “Reformed” family of Christianity.
They are more theologically conservative than I am, but most of their contributors are winsome, smart,…

Printing Press articles
I have found several articles on the printing press, the history of books and their importance as a whole in todays' world. I'm not sure if they're the kind of scholarly article needed for this project.
